561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: July 04, 2015, 09:18:48 PM

So what popped the bubble? The turning point where everyone cashed out and others doing the same to avoid the profit loss and selling too? Do you think the price hitting 78000 once the month is over could be somehow legit? Usually the price won't pass any resistance levels outside constant news, until it's heavily dumped. The current price is pretty fishy.

What bubble, and what pop? Did you read the news?

Oh my, nope, i didn't. Honestly, i won't read any news. You can open the market page, drag your scrollbar over timeline, and then get back and tell me again it's not a bubble.

It may be a bubble, but it has not popped yet, and you will not know if it was a bubble before it has popped. I really doubt it will sink lower than 50K whatever happens. It's not every day a coin get a $20 mill hedge fund supporting it.

Problem is that you and most here do not understand that there is no support by hedge fund or anyone with over 100 BTC ready to invest. Check lack of liquidity at buy side again. Few pages back someone quoted Carl Gray saying something like "I feel like buying BTC under 1 USD" or something like that which is complete and utter bullshit. If Carl and alikes really belive START could be in top 3 they would put 1,000 BTC buy wall at some price, even at 1 Satoshi, if only to prove there is nice money backing their claims. "Put your money where your mouth is", a known trader expression. No such thing here. There are just bullshits by people who own multiple millions of USD and whatnot more and who will own even more because you noob traders will give them more money.

50% of total coin supply is in the hands of some of the biggest financial market scumbags and at the same time there is no buy support from them anywhere so yes, go buy more START, stupid.

don't waste your time with them, ducky.  they are pretending to be people who don't own startcoin and are just here to save people that they do not know because it's a better motive than their real motives.

the statement 'honestly, i won't read any news' was a little too honest and revealing.

You may think anyone posting contra your belowed coin of choice here is a FUDster wishing to buy more cheaper but that is not the case. After almost 4 years on this forum I'm really irritated by shitards and scammers of all sorts, people who are ruining cryptocoin scene for their own instant benefit. It was proven countless times that noob traders who come here and fall for sale pitches and other pump and dump shits are the ones who after losing all money go and rage about cryptocoins everywhere.

As someone who has more wealth in cryptocoins than possibly all of you posting at this thread combined it is not in my interest to just watch ripping-off of unsuspecting and noob traders.

563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin released the increased block size fork code about 2 weeks ago. Can someone on: July 04, 2015, 08:03:55 PM
But if the software never sees the light of day, then there is no chance for change.

Not true.

No-one (who is respected) is arguing for no increase. No-one. That's the least popular argument.

So Greg Maxwell and Adam Back aren't respected anymore? lol

They're pushing for sidechains to correct increasing volume.

Fine but it would be better to have sidechains and faster block time, like 2 minutes * 1MB block = increase almost as big as with Gavin's proposal but noticably faster transaction confirmations.
564  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Nodes and Broadcasting Transactions on: July 04, 2015, 07:52:07 PM
So I received one of the bitnodes and fired it up on the network.  What a neat little box.  Not being 100% savvy about how the bitcoin network handles traffic, I was surprised to see that my little node has already had some transactions that it relayed first according to blockchain.info.

How did my node receive a transaction first?  I've read about the broadcasting and such, but wondered if it had to do with proximity when finding peers to broadcast to or what?

A non technical response works Smiley

Node that broadcasted transaction is either not connected to blockchain.info node or your node has much lower ping (latency).

It is weekend again and I'm sort of drunk again so I bought into XCR again  Grin  and now I wanna know if there are any plans to "integrate" some Javascript communities into the deal, port some known apps to Crypti or similar stuff? Any date for working Windows Lite wallet?
566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING: blockchain split on: July 04, 2015, 11:10:34 AM
Can someone explain why 0.9 bitcoind are not safe to use ? Won't they also catch up to the longest chain later ?
They allow invalid blocks.
So, if you have 2 chains one with invalid blocks and one without. Bitcoin Core 0.9 would chose the longest block as the right one. Bitcoin Core 0.10.2 would just ignore the chain with the invalid blocks.

Bitcoin always choses blockchain with the most work done (sum of all hashes that were used to create blocks, since genesis block) which is not neccessarily the longest blockchain.

Anyone on SPV wallet question?

ARE SPV wallets (i.e. Multibit) safe?

Using anything other than official Bitcoin-Qt wallet (full node) is playing with fire. For the sake of saving 40GB of HDD space and to have a bit faster syncing you have massively increased a chance for all sort of troubles and you are actualy not contributing to network at all, just draining resources off of it and using up others' connection slots. As far as I know, SPV wallets are not relaying transactions or blocks, they are just like people on Torrent who download stuff but not share anything.

SPV wallets were Satoshi's idea. He knew they would be needed by people with low spec computers and metered internet connections. People have complained the Bitcoin core wallet can take a week to sync on a low power computer with a slow connection. They say if anything goes wrong whole it's syncing and the database gets corrupted you have to start the whole process again. My computer is too low power and has too little free memory to consider using the Bitcoin core wallet.

Not everyone has the choice to use the Bitcoin core wallet, some people have no option but to use SPV wallets.

"Here I have 100,000 USD and I'll put them at insecure and problematic bank because I have no money for better one".  Huh

Not everybody has 100'000 USD on its wallet (I wish I had, though). Especially if you want to have some petty money on the laptop, mobile or tablet, SPV wallets are pretty handy. I, for example, have one mobile phone which I use about five times a year. SPV is best for it...

Well, this whole thread and many others are proof SPV wallets suck balls.

Nice graph!  Cheesy

I took one of the points in your graph, 0.0183 and calculated that when we reach that point startcoin should be worth $125 million. That's for second or maybe third stage of the rocket, still at stage one.

There won't be 2nd or 3rd stage anytime soon. Low liquidity at buy side, almost vertical direction of price curve and not much buying pressure means price will highly likely correct downwards.

StartCOIN Holdings Ltd - Shareholder gathering 2015 (2h45min)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkOEvx2-13E

22nd June 2015
Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen

Host: Stacy Herbert
Appearances by: Max Keiser, Kim Dotcom, George Galloway, Simon Dixon and the Dead Reds.

Intro 00.00 - 16.00
The Dead Reds 16.10 - 48.40
Panel Session 1.01.50 - 2.15.50
Kim Dotcom 2.15.50 - End

Unfortunately, there's currently an abrupt cut moving the recording from the panel session to Kim's Interview at 2.15.50. This is due to multiple files being compiled.

We are in the process of determining whether this can be resolved - if so, a new version will be provided in the near future. It is a less than 1 min missed where we connected with Kim on Skype and start of his introduction.

Reminded me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDJrVeh_6dw different actors, different sort of scam but still a scam, just like Startcoin.

Tomorrow morning I'll start my trip and it will take over 30 hours.
I will check alcurEX status at first I'm online.

Gold detector & mining trip shares can buy as long as there is any left.

Watch out for venom spiders, snakes and local hallucinogen drugs! I've heard there are plenty of those, we don't want incorrect detector readings ("Guys, I have found Excalibur" and such)!  Grin

Happy hunting.

No.
577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: From 370,000 Full Bitcoin Nodes to 6,000: What happened? on: June 24, 2015, 12:49:52 PM
A non-listening node contributes by relaying transactions, and also helps with security making sure that violations of the rules are ignored.

As far as I know and have observed using traffic analysis tools, non-listening node is a full member of the network. The only thing it can't do is sync up nodes that want to connect to it but again it can sync up nodes that it connects to. Run your node and use getrawmempool command at Console, you'll see unconfirmed transactions listed there. Node is collecting them for itself and to relay them to nodes that does not have some of those transactions in their own mempool, exactly what any sort of full node is doing. If your download and upload values are like 900MB and 2MB that just means your node is receiving new data slower than nodes it is connected to so other nodes are not often requesting such data from your node.

Each node on it's own is a clueless, it needs other nodes to create a consensus but it makes no difference if those other nodes will connect to your node or your node will connect to them so the whole story that non-listening, low upload nodes are less useful is false.

Also keep in mind bitnodes collected data can be easily skewed up or down. I know IP they are using so I can firewall it or I can create a hundred dummy full nodes that will all look like full nodes to outside observer.
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SLING | Fully Working DECENTRALIZED MARKET in Wallet | SLINGROAD LIVE on: June 24, 2015, 12:42:06 PM
All I am saying is that SLING is undervalued and that it definitely has more to offer than the average shitcoin. SLING definitely has potential to grow

I've heard that same or similar lines like trillion times by now, for 3 years here at crypto scene and a decade+ at other markets. People using them were always the ones who previously invested in whatever deal is on offer and were very often unaware that they are, all for the sake of making money, actualy luring others into buying the worthless and many times a dangerous shit. So whatever other stuff you post it simply won't convince me to buy SLING. You'd have to provide way more than known pump and dump retoric, do you have anything worthy checking? I totally doubt that. You are lacking PR skills, you are lacking funds, you are lacking influence yet we are supposed to listen to you and buy into the deal that could potentionaly put us in prison cell next to Silkroad guy? That is all SLING is about, a decentralized version of Silkroad, built by morons who don't understand they are fighting unbeatable enemy and will possibly be responsible for many other people put in prison. That same people who you as well lured into buying and dealing with SLING. You are dealing with not only obviously irrelevant and unneeded but also a dangerous stuff here, you are unaware of that of what?

Nothing more to post here, I'll let this thread become irrelevant again.

You can say whatever you want, but if people want an OSS decentralized marketplace, that's not going to be brought down by authorities

Cheesy

So clueless and unaware.

Sorry but your fud fails.

Marketcap at around 75 BTC is saying that it is your scammy efforts what failed here.

The coin and technology behind it will speak for itself.

It has "use" value and the framework to become a good market.

Simple daytrading and pump n dump arguments don't really apply here when there is real value,  people will just start using and the coin will be necessary.

Sorry but your fud fails.
Exactly, i'd agree with coins that have nothing to offer. But Sling clearly stands out amongt the 100s of shitcoins which have nothing to add to the market.

Market does not give a shit, obviously. Just like it does not care for massive development and "epic" stuff added to other altcoins. Check price and developments of big name coins like NXT and Dash, do you see any major marketcap or adoption increase after major updates? Not really.
You are talking about coins that have a marketcap that's more than 1000 times as large as that of sling's, of course it's going to take way more funds to move prices in these coins.....

Many features added to big name altcoins were supposed to easily dethrone Bitcoin from top 1 position but that didn't happened yet you want us to belive that somehow SLING features matter?
