561  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 ($10 for 2nd) + 8 Merits every week! on: March 15, 2018, 07:51:46 AM
@fakegurutu has been disqualified from this week's round, as they have applied to a paid signature campaign after applying for this challenge.

This means that there are only 24 valid participants in this round. Unfortunately, this also means that there will not be a cash prize for 3rd place. Sad

In other news, I will be tracking merits earned from participants through this challenge, and you can find a "Merit Stats" tab in the spreadsheet (click here to be taken directly to the merit tab in the spreadsheet)

Hopefully, we can have at least 25 qualified participants for this challenge in Round 3. Sorry, everyone Sad
562  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 ($10 for 2nd) + 8 Merits every week! on: March 15, 2018, 05:13:01 AM
I have decided to add a section to the spreadsheet that will reference up to 5 meritorious posts that I see throughout the week. This will be added at some point before the current round is concluded.

I can donate 5 merits/week to the top poster as well. Let me know!

Awesome, thank you! I will add you as a merit sponsor. At some point, I believe by round 5, I’d like to slightly reduce the amount of merits that the top ranks can earn for each round and encourage more members to utilize the spreadsheet to merit a few posts that are deemed meritorious (subjective to my personal criteria: you’re more than welcome to peruse the participants’ post history to find and merit other posts, as well).

This is so exciting to see more and more people taking interest to this type of challenge, and I really hope it is making a difference, regardless of how small that difference is Smiley
563  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How To Start Signature Campaign? on: March 15, 2018, 05:07:19 AM
Nice. It’s good to see your change of course here. I see bitcointalk referenced all around the web as a place to make money, which goes directly against all efforts that a lot of us here are making to rid the forums of these types of users. There is a lot to learn here, and not just about bitcoin and other cryptos. There are some really cool likeminded people here, and you can develop some great friends here beyond just making a few bucks in a bounty campaign. It’s good to see that you’re taking the initiative to learn about the forums.

My first piece of advice would be to go through the main page of the forums, and click on each board and read the stickied posts at the top of each of the boards. There are some extremely useful tips and information, and by reading all of the stickies, you’ll already be far ahead of like 90% of the rest of the forums. You’ll also learn a lot about how the forum operates, so you’ll be able to help out other beginners.

Welcome to my signature less challenge; I look forward to seeing the progression of your posts. I make notes and provide criticism after each weekly round ends, so I hope you take the opportunity to heed the advice and become a better contributor to the forums.

Good luck!

Hello guys, how are you?

I have reached Jr. Member rank and I've no idea how to start signature campaign. Is anyone can explain to me how to begin?

Thank you for your attention. Cheers Smiley

All of the instructions for meeting requirements and participating in a signature campaign are in the threads that the campaign manager starts. Given that you don’t even know how to access these threads is a sure sign that you shouldn’t apply to any of these campaigns, as you’ll just undoubtedly become a shitposter who will continue to flood the forums with useless posts for the sole purpose of earning money. Please reconsider joining any of the campaigns here until you could at least learn how the forum navigation is conducted.
565  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 15, 2018, 01:11:20 AM

You mean like @nullius? Search for him. Or @Blue Tyrant. They are doing a great job earning merits organically by posting great content.

Hadn't heard about that, will look it up.

Although if everyone knows that they are actually a longstanding member of the community but on a different account, receiving merits from people who know them etc it kind of fails the point. I'm guessing no one knew when they first started so will have a look. Point still stands on other multi account issues.

Not really. When existing higher level accounts expire of their sMerit, they’ll have to somehow get merited in abundance in order to “feed” their multis. It’s hard to fuel this economy because of the 2:1 merit:sMerit ratio, so I’d imagine that these account farmers would eventually give up or just focus on trying to breed one or two accounts, which is far less than how it was being done before the merit system was implemented.
566  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 15, 2018, 12:53:49 AM
One idea/question about the Merit system, I think many are hoarding their sMerit while waiting for a genious post or can't spend any because they don't have some anymore. Wouldn't it be better to give everybody a few to spend every month to get a flow into the system? I have often had the case that I would like to have given away sMerit if someone helped me, but perhaps not wrote the ultimative post. Or is it against the system to reward a helping person?

Nice idea but then there's the following problem,
If obtaining sMerit become a matter of time, then spammers/bots/etc with high rank will also become a matter of time.
All they'd need to do would be to shitpost with multiple accounts and then use their accounts to merit themselves.

Makes sense to you?

Yeah there have been a few examples of high ranked 'older' users, who now have lots of merit, giving their alternative accounts merit in 50 merit chunks. From what I can tell, not all of them are reprimanded or get any penalties.

Also feel for the people who were on the cusp of becoming the next rank when the merit system kicked in - would have set them back quite a bit. Now while rank doesn't really matter for most things, it does make a difference on bounty signature campaigns so I can understand why people would want a realistic path to ranking up.

Most of the people who are pro the current merit system are people who have hero accounts from being on this forum before the bitcoin rush, and keep saying to 'just make quality posts'. I'd be interested in a well established member starting a brand new account without telling anyone (with approval from moderator or whoever to do this) to see how they go in getting merits. Would be a good experiment I think - you could do a thread about the outcomes.

You mean like @nullius? Search for him. Or @Blue Tyrant. They are doing a great job earning merits organically by posting great content.
567  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ziku 65 scammer tried to scam $35000 using fake escrow email on: March 15, 2018, 12:23:57 AM
I see enough rules being broken in here for at least one account to be banned. Just sayin'  Tongue

this thread and forum is full of retards.
The OP is the only one who had my email you fag.
He is the only one who can send fake email to me consider only he know my email you retarded scum.
You don't realize what evidence means right?
Everyone can setup notepad story based on imagination, what makes it real you moron ?
Everyone can say everything, that does not make it real if there is no evidences you moron.
Also I don't have alts and I don't need any because this forum is full of trash and I don't actually care about it.
I gaved it chance to sell my shits but here is full of scammers and people like you who protect them.
Go kill yourself, no one will see you're missing or sorry for you.

You keep saying that nobody knows what "evidence" means, yet you can't produce any, especially when being asked to defend your innocence. That's the reason why you're red-tagged. When someone opens a scam accusation on you, it's your job to prove that you're not a scammer. It's not your job to try and turn it around on the accuser, unless you're able to procure evidence (as you keep bringing up) that they are, in fact, the scammer.

As an outsider with no ties to OP, suchmoon, or you, I will state that you've done very poorly, ziku65, at trying to prove that you are not a scammer. Maybe you should provide this thread with the evidence of your claim that you received the same email. I highly doubt that you deleted it and then emptied your deleted items folder Roll Eyes

Being new here, I can’t seem to figure out the forum’s interface so I can get rid of this.  It is really confusing.  Please help if you can!

Duh, it's so easy. With the window open, on your keyboard, press the following keys simultaneously: Alt + F4

Problem solved.
569  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: March 14, 2018, 11:59:21 PM
I really do like this idea. It doesn't need to be something strict, such as requiring 1 merit every week. But just have a default amount that's necessary to unlock signatures. Just 1 merit. No time limit; no restraints (EDIT: On second thought, maybe 1 Merit every 120 days). I think what a lot of the naysayers here neglect to realize is that in due time, sMerit decay should take effect, and default sMerit (from when the system was introduced) will run dry. When this happens, there won't be as much merit to easily toss around, as it currently is.

But if this was made a default option, then shitty campaign managers would then be forced into actually reviewing their applicants, rather than just accepting anyone and everyone. "Joe, but they would just merit the accounts they accept into the campaign!" Let's say their campaign is for 50 participants. They'll need 50 sMerits to give to the participants, which means they'll need to receive 100 Merits in order to do so. This is not an easy task in itself.

I think it's a simple solution, and once implemented, does not need much oversight to enforce it.

Maybe its because I am not making friends here. Maybe I am posting in the wrong threads. Maybe my postings don't reach that high quality which is needed for earning merits ... I don't know. I don't take care about it. It doesn't matter. In the meantime, I have said goodbye to the idea of being able to ascend again at all.

It's because most of your posts are in Altcoins and Altcoin Speculation. Those really aren't great places for your post to receive merit, and there are some pretty hefty megathreads where your post may be overlooked within a matter of a day or two. If you look in the Meta and Services boards, there are currently TONS of ways to get your meritorious posts recognized to earn a few merits here and there.

I think the forums have enough moderators. They only need to step up their game and be top notch getting defaulters to face the wrath of the forum. The existing laws need to start getting enforced.

I disagree. Yes, it's fine and dandy when you have a watchtower filled with members who patrol the forums and report posts to moderators... But try for yourself. Pick a board, any board. Add that entire board to your watchlist. And then try to go through each thread and each post and act like a moderator. Read each post and see if it meets the forum requirements and rules. I think you'd be surprised as to how many posts are actually made on a daily basis here. And then imagine the times when you're not able to be online; what do you think you'll come back to? A forum that took a break and paused all of its activity because you were not online?

This forum needs more moderators. The existing ones are doing a great job, but the forum has grown immensely since most of them have been hired, and there are more shitposters than ever.
570  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Can FBI be Satoshi Nakomoto ? on: March 14, 2018, 11:23:06 PM
First of all, Bitcoin is not considered a currency by the U.S. government, so your argument about not being able to touch a country's money is invalid.

Recently, an article in The Economist, titled "One world, one money" from September of 1988 came to light, where the author is predicting that in 30 years [2018], a new world currency will prevail and be utilized globally:

Quote
THIRTY years from now, Americans, Japanese, Europeans, and people in many other rich countries, and some relatively poor ones will probably be paying for their shopping with the same currency.

While I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I am a realist that likes to [over]analyze situations. The Economist is, and has always been owned or controlled by the Rothschilds. The Rothschild families have controlled world banks for generations. Control the banks and you control the world.

I used to laugh at anyone who claimed that the NSA created Bitcoin. I used to ask them why and how the NSA could create a trust less decentralized peer-to-peer currency that they have no control over, and what the purpose would be. But lately, seeing as exchanges are required to flip and turn over their customer database, and start implementing more KYC verification procedures, this could potentially have been the plan all along. It's highly doubtful that this is the case with Bitcoin, but it's not an impossibility.

The thing that truly makes me question the government's involvement? The network effect of the internet and when it was implemented. That's another example of something that was created by the government that they lost control over. Now they're trying to regain control (net neutrality), but we all know that it's too late. So could be the case with Bitcoin? Again, highly doubtful, but not an impossibility.

I have often speculated about this matter, that the creator of BTC could in fact be some agency like CIA which needed a anonymous way to move money for their black projects.

This. I firmly believe that Bitcoin was/is [being] used to fund black ops. I believe that the deep web is being utilized by governmental operatives, and Bitcoin could have been used as the method of compensation for conducting illegal contracts. And being amongst a space filled with the world's best hackers, Bitcoin became introduced to the public.

There are so many theories out there, and as much as I question who Satoshi Nakamoto is/was, it's satisfying to think that this system is irreversible. Blockchain technology is simply amazing, and whether Bitcoin was created by the government or not, cryptocurrency is the new money.
571  Economy / Services / Re: Found a paypal loophole on: March 14, 2018, 10:56:39 PM
For the record, this probably isn't a "loophole", but rather a blackhat method to scam PayPal with an illegitimate claim/chargeback. Needless to say, anyone who participates in this scam deserves to have their PayPal accounts suspended or money taken. Don't be a fool.
572  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: SHOP | Private Netflix Account's | 1 Full Year Service | ONLY $5 | STORE on: March 14, 2018, 10:15:04 PM
Are these shared accounts? Can I use the Watchlist feature or track my viewing history without having to see someone else's history? Can I create my own profile on these accounts?

Every Netflix account that I have purchased on these forums has stopped within a few weeks. How long does the "1 Full Year" last? Is it one year from date of purchase, or is the subscription for the account for 1 year since the subscription was purchased?

If you need a long-term vouch, I can provide weekly updates based on an account that you provide for me. I currently have a netflix account, but I can log in at least once a week to this one so that I can verify that it's in working condition, if you're so willing to provide an account for me.
573  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 🔥🔥🔥★OVERVIEW OF SERVICES★🔥🔥🔥 on: March 14, 2018, 10:05:48 PM
Maybe it's time to remove alia's lending services thread.

And if anyone would like a chance to earn $25 a week and 8 merits, you should check out my challenge: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3055616.0 (Joe's Signatureless Challenge)

574  Economy / Services / Re: I'll pay you to buy a $0.99 book on: March 14, 2018, 09:52:20 PM
Be weary, folks. This user is paying you to falsely pump the book's ranks, which can be viewed as highly untrustworthy by certain forum DT1 and DT2 members. If you're not willing to get a default red trust on your accounts, I'd suggest not posting in this thread that you're actively willing to participant in this untrustworthy offer.

Just a fair warning.
575  Other / Meta / Re: "Merit & new rank requirements" thread should be locked and pinned. on: March 14, 2018, 09:48:22 PM
Yep agreed.

Or a Requirements list for every new member to read and agree to before registering.

When websites do that to you, how many agreements do you actually read, as opposed to just scrolling down and clicking ok?  :/

This reminds me of the South Park episode where Kyle agrees to the iTunes terms and conditions, thus resulting in the Humancentipad. Relevant
576  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Settings Problem on: March 14, 2018, 09:43:47 PM
It does matter though... I mean I see a lot of signature campaigns that say no negative trust. One day I want to taste that 0.05 btc weekly payment that sig campaigns pay... but if my account ever gets a negative trust... it's over QQ

so it really matters, then, yes?

No. It just means that you can enjoy the boards and all that it has to offer; not just the bounty and signature campaigns. Besides, the only negative trust that restricts you from joining campaigns is trust that's left by a Default Trust 1 or DT2 user. "Untrusted" feedback really has no affect on your participation in these campaigns, unless it's obvious that you're a scammer.
577  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My first signature campaign just ended. Here's how it went. on: March 14, 2018, 09:39:06 PM
Thanks for posting this, but let's not forget that this forum is not just for applying to bounties and earning money. Don't forget to participate in healthy conversations about Bitcoin and the crypto economy as a whole. I see that you're active on the mining boards, so thanks for your contribution.
578  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 ($10 for 2nd) + 8 Merits every week! on: March 14, 2018, 09:33:30 PM
Hey BTCforJoe! I have merited you some more! I would like to give these merits to the places on the competition as you wish. I just hope you will let me know where you spend these merits on Smiley

Best Regards.

Anytime I find posts that are meritorious, I will post them here in this thread. Thanks for the Merits, but maybe they would be more applicable to participants directly? You can access any of the participants by viewing the spreadsheet and clicking on their name, which will take you to their profiles. Then you can click on their latest posts, and see if any deserve your merits!
579  Other / Meta / Re: [SCAM PREVENTION]Remove self-moderation for topics within the marketplace! on: March 14, 2018, 09:31:56 PM
But I think that this point is raised constantly because there hasn't been a valid solution that has been implemented. And until theymos or Cyrus answer in any of these topics with a definitive answer, they will continue to be asked. Additionally, requiring a member to check the Scam Accusations thread before purchasing anything and trying to navigate it to find a relevant post with the possibility that their seller will have a thread? HORRIBLE user flow, and highly ineffective. Which is why posts like this keep popping up.

Exactly

bump for a major problem that needs fixed

I think we've hit a minor milestone. EcuaMobi's thread "[WARNING] Avoid auto-buy links, especially by newbies, locked or self-moderated" has been stickied to the Digital goods board.

While this isn't exactly the solution you've recommended, it is at least an acknowledgement by staff that there is a problem with [at least] newbie accounts that self-moderate their threads.

However, I still believe that there is a need to remove the feature from the marketplace altogether, so I'll continue to bump this thread occasionally until it is implemented, or at least addressed.
580  Other / Meta / Re: Members applying in merit campaigns without being eligible on: March 14, 2018, 09:26:20 PM
I recently started a weekly challenge where I award users with a chance to win some money and merits for posting constructively on the forums, and I will say that I've received applications from people who clearly do not meet the requirements. And users that have applied and then never posted again. It's just the nature of the forums currently, and I'm hoping that the merit system will help to slowly eliminate those types of users.

I think that honestly, it also has to do with users not realizing that the merit system has been introduced. They have no idea what it is, so they continue to apply to bounties and sig campaigns. As far as I'm concerned, these types of users provide no real contributions to this forum and can/should be banned, as far as I'm concerned.
