581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Inspiring Projects Shaping the Future on: October 18, 2023, 12:32:05 PM
I'm quite curious in the projects you come across where the use of cryptocurrencies has broken new grounds and motivated people to think outside the box. Which of the projects you've seen has inspired you the most and helped others to see and think beyond existing limitations?
Thinking out of a box is good as it can help you to break your own limits but in cryptocurrency, if you apply it wrongly, you will make big mistake and get big loss.

Don't try to think out of a box like "I want to find hidden gems (mean altcoins) and I no longer see good chance to earn great profit with Bitcoin". It's how people lost their money in many scam altcoins. Don't think out of Bitcoin box as many scam altcoin boxes wait you to fall into.

How many cryptocurrencies failed?

You hit the point, and there is really nothing more to say, at least not for those who are not big fans of the great crypto messiah who is trying (obviously successfully) to sell them general knowledge as something of his own. This is the same man who claims that 99% of people involved in "crypto" will lose their digital assets because they store them in non-custodial wallets.

The man literally claims that 99% of these people are stupid, and I think it's stupid to trust such a man.
There are free resources to learn about Bitcoin, Bitcoin halvings. People are too lazy and did not do own research, did not learn anything. When an influencer makes a tweet, they believe that knowledge is right and automatically believe it.

Knowledge sharing must be verified too because not all sharing are correct.

584  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: October 17, 2023, 01:26:08 AM
It is almost the same with other casinos as the Plinko game is also played physically and was just added online. The only difference between it and other casinos is the UI but overall it is the same. I also liked Plinko because there is a thrill when the ball drops and even though I don't have extra money to gamble I play it through an online game just to have fun. Try also mines, and you'll enjoy it for sure. It is almost the same with mine sweeper but you just need to not select the tile that has a bomb.
Plinko and miners are most popular games even you can play them on computers but with gambling platform, with money to bet, they are more attractive and even more addictive. Feelings when playing on computers offline and with your gambling accounts are very different.

When you play them, bet with them, be careful and be responsible with your playing and betting time. Make sure you can achieve fun, relax but don't be addictive and over bet or over lose money for gaming through gambling on casino. Because you will only have fun if you don't ruin your life through gambling. I believe gambling platforms don't want any of their customers ruins his life too. They always have warning for their customers, Gambling responsibly.

3. Acting as a third party in approving your own transactions, etc.
You don't and can not approve (confirm) your own transaction.

What you can do with your bitcoin and your Bitcoin transaction?

Compose it: Choose inputs, outputs; set amount you what to send to a receiver;  receiving address and fee rate for  your transaction. Then a final step is Signing your transaction with your private key to broadcast it to mempools.

After broadcasting it to mempools, you only can wait for miners to confirm your transaction. If waiting time is longer than what you want, you can use Replace-by-Fee to bump the fee but you must use this opt-in initially when you broadcast your transaction; or can use Child-Pay-For-Parents in some cases.

How Replace-By-Fee (RBF) an Child-Pays-For-Parent (CPFP) can speed up confirmation

587  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need little help understanding about transactions. on: October 16, 2023, 11:34:09 AM
I recently read about transaction fees in an effort to learn more about bitcoin and i am understanding it gradually. I now know that transaction fees are amounts paid by users who conduct transactions in order for those transactions to be added in a block, and that the fees are estimated based on the number of transactions waiting to be confirmed.
You pay fee, not estimated fee. Estimated fee is from fee estimators to give you like probably how long your transaction will get a first confirmation. What you pay is a real fee, not estimation.

Remember to use Replace-by-Fee to bump fee if the initial fee rate is not good but you need faster confirmation.

RBF (Replace By Fee) in Bitcoin Transactions.

Quote
However, what i don't understand is how these fees are generated.
Transaction fee is from transaction size and fee rate. The first one depends on a transaction input, output (the more, the bigger size), and address/ transaction type.

Quote
Also, where do these fees go?
Transaction fee (on chain) goes to miners who confirm your transaction.

If you make a withdrawal request on a centralized exchange, you will lose more expensive fee to that exchange because they over charge you and enjoy profit from it. They only use part of withdrawal fee to pay on chain transaction fee on behalf of you to Bitcoin miners.
588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Gold, land which better? on: October 16, 2023, 11:13:53 AM
There is never a wrong time to invest in Bitcoin. If you have actually taken time to study where we are coming from and where we are going to, you will know the potential of Bitcoin. Bitcoin have proven to be a good investment option for those who are not eager for quick gains so it requires time just like every other investment. As for loosing money in Bitcoin, are you of the opinion that the price of Bitcoin will come to zero or crash  so hard?
Wrong or right, good or bad, it is related to both entry and exit. If your investment plan is only 6 months but your entry time is 1 year or more after a bull run start, you will have big problem with your entry because the market is nearly at top and 6 months later, you will probably exit it with a loss in a bear market.

I don't argue here about 6 months are long enough to consider as a good time for investment. I would like to have a longer time but many people have that short investment time for their plans and their failed investment begins with their bad start.
589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to get paid in BTC if you are a weed-shop owner? on: October 16, 2023, 10:57:48 AM
Why can't i just for example use my own private wallet and just share that QR code and put it on the desk?
Not your keys (private keys), not your coins. You will lose your coins if you share your private keys.

You can share your Public address for people and consider it as your receiving address. Problem is if you use only one receiving address to receive Bitcoin from many people, it will be hard for you to note what a transaction is.

You can edit each transaction description but it takes more time because you will have to do it manually.

Quote
Is it not legal or is it to unsafe?
It is unsafe as I explained above. Lose your keys, lose your coins.
590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Distinguishing Between Bitcoin Halving And Crypto Burn on: October 15, 2023, 12:21:29 PM
But for token burning, which the altcoins use to convince their holders and investors that scarcity is being created, they move a certain amount, which they intentionally created from the very beginning, and they know it's too much for a project yet they created such an amount. At the end, to convince people that it has been moved out of the market, they send the agreed amount to be burned sent to an address that no one has access to. This is token burning, and this same project developer can still mint tokens from no where most times and add them to the market, or sometimes they can do a contract swap and from the old token to another, which will give them the chance to create more tokens.
Buy back and burn token programs are non sense to create value of a token. It's solely marketing initiative.

Thinking about those programs like their developers are free to code and set any amount of token total supply they want for a token. No restriction on what is the maximum total supply when they code so if they want their token looks to be scarce in total supply, they can set it low. If they want to make it is not scarce, they are free to set it high.

There are two strategies: set it low at start to make hype that if investors are slowly, they will miss the train to get rich; set it massively high like Shiba Inu and many tokens, then use Buy back and burn programs to burn tokens later.

The second strategy looks odds in my view.
Yearn Finance with its total supply is only 36647 $YFI tokens is an example for a first strategy. You zoom out the chart and will see its price was about $40,000 in 2020 and $70,000 in 2021. It's a most scammiest and most successful scam token in history.

What is the benefit of buring $SHIB?
Yearn finance.

Long term campaign is also not a guarantee that it will bring good effect to the casinos, why? Simply because the main product/services/offers provided by the casino is the main important thing to attract gamblers to come-deposit-play-stay.
Signature campaign is just an advertisement tool to make people aware about the existence of the product, but real customers will decide to use it or not after looking deeper at the product.
It means that advertisement can be useless if the product is not attractive enough to gain the interest from customers.
I knew and just forgot to write it in my previous post. As written, a long term signature campaign must be a sustainable one with good positive effect from the campaign to the platform's customer stats and income. To have it, products must be good to attract guests, convert them to customers and new products, new experience as well as good VIP programs for current users must be in place and updated with time.

Without successful efforts to build, renew products to gain new customers, maintain current loyal customers, a platform will start to lose its customer base and income. Anyway I appreciate your insightful inputs, panjul07.
592  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cefi and defi wallet. My brief review! on: October 15, 2023, 10:42:16 AM
There is overlap between CeFi and DeFi for their users. If you use a DeFi platform with their services like staking, you no longer control your coins. After locking your coins in their staking pools or liquidity pools, you waive up your control on your coins.

Three Arrows Capital, Celsius are good examples of non decentralized DeFi projects that caused massive losses on their customers.

How Much Funding did Each Crypto Sector Raise Every Year?. This is an old article but it mentioned a failed, bankrupted centralized exchange, FTX and it is a good example for a corrupted centralized exchange.
593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Distinguishing Between Bitcoin Halving And Crypto Burn on: October 15, 2023, 10:35:43 AM
Bitcoin halving has always been confused for crypto burning most especially by those who are new to the crypto space. If not carefully looked at, Bitcoin ethusiast might even fall in the same situation the very moment the two words are mentioned.
I used to be a newbie but I have never thought of Bitcoin halving and altcoin burns like this. I did not know what they are but a simple effort to search can help me understand what is Bitcoin halving and what is an altcoin burning event.

I also have never heard anyone confused about these terms.

Altcoins are centralized and many altcoins are EVMs with smart contracts that can be used to seize coins in an address, burn it, mint more. Burning events with altcoins are easily but similar to Bitcoin, if you want to burn an amount of coin in circulating and total supply, it's easy.

Create an address, throw away by burning the private key physically, then sending coins to that address, it is burning. Burning is to reduce supply. Bitcoin halving and some altcoins also have their halvings too, are to add more coins in circulating supply. The biggest difference between halving and burning is here.
594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can CEX, institutional investors, whales, hinder or halt the growth of Bitcoin? on: October 13, 2023, 01:25:33 PM
If what Caroline Ellison said is true then how successful was Sam Bankman-Fried in keeping the price below $20,000?
Sam Bankman Fried and FTX were only some of Bitcoin whales and market makers, in the past. The Bitcoin market is bigger than one Bitcoin whale like SBF or one big centralized exchange like FTX. This market has been becoming bigger a lot than some years ago when Mt.Gox dominated the Bitcoin market and its crash caused many big impacts on Bitcoin market. But eventually Bitcoin was well and recovered, grown up more till now.

FTX and SBF will be called more in future like news about Mt.Gox still is reused many times but I disagree that a single whale can control Bitcoin price. Whales come and go but Bitcoin is here, Bitcoin market is here and they are King, whales are not Kings.

Firstly I wish all the best for the new casino. Hope the project sees new highs and no lows and zero complaints.

I took part in the signature campaign which ran for only a week and have some stuff to rant about.

Casinos has existed in the bitcoin ecosystem since it was started as a basic means of spending those coins at the lack of other places to spend. Casinos like Primedice/Stake, Fortunejack, back in those days Rollin, Just-Dice and Yolodice (to name a few) all run campaigns at length because they understood the potential of onboarding new and potential members on their site through this forum. In fact campaigns started with Primedice and its sister site Stake is running its campaign at full force throughout the forum now.

Other types of marketing work but this forum is full of users who are earning coins and they need places to spend them and thus the success of the campaigns.
Signature campaigns can not bring effect if only running in one or a few weeks. It needs to be a long run campaign to have effect but it is challenging for a new casino like any new business. They can have a budget for marketing but they only can run sustainable marketing if budget for it not only comes from the team pocket but also from profit of their business. When their business gets profit, they can use part of profit for marketing and I am sure it is how big casinos do.

They get effects from their long run campaigns and they reuse business profit for their campaign prolongs.

Who cares about some shitcoin blockchain LOL. I think I have never deposited any shitcoin other than bitcoin ever in any platform.
I believe you don't do this and you are more keen on Bitcoin than altcoin blockchains. I agree with you too and you can see my points about it in my previous post.

Bitcoin transactions are not always cheap. When the mempool is full and piled with transactions then sometimes you need to pay even 50 to 100 sat/vB.
Bitcoin transaction fee is not always cheap but it can be cheaper if we use non custodial wallet and pick good time to move our coins when mempools are clean. Using RBF opt-in to be able for fee bumping later if mempool loads up suddenly and we need quick confirmation.

Last two weeks, Bitcoin mempools are so good with cheap fee rates.

Depending on the number of input and output address it can become two figure amount too. But for me I feel safe as long as anything that I have left or won is in my own wallet.
It is easy to understand with https://bitcoinops.org/en/tools/calc-size/
Changing number of inputs, outputs and see differences in transaction sizes will help newbies understand it well.
597  Economy / Gambling / Re: COINS.GAME | THE MOST REWARDING CRYPTO CASINO | SPORTSBOOK & CASINO on: October 12, 2023, 12:39:33 PM
No, no. I am not asking for a special pass. I was just giving you some suggestions so that you can improve and make it a desirable platform for your customers.
I agree as the Coins.game casino must be opened for everyone and if they treat all users the same, it's best. Special pass for a trusted member in Bitcointalk forum can not help their casino become more attractive and grow bigger. They must have universal policy for all users and if any difference, it should be based on betting stats of one account on their platform.

I am fine, it's just I need to adjust my strategy and habit. Usually when I feel to have a gambling session, I make quick deposit and expect to access the fund quick. When I feel to stop the session I withdraw the balance [if anything left, most of the time I lose my deposits though LOL] to my wallet. But it seems I will need to deposit balance at least 10 to 15 minutes before I start my session. It's obviously a little adjustment and I am fine with it.
You are practice well by strictly maintain your own rule, don't leave coin on centralized platforms longer than needed. It will cause you more on-chain transaction fee that is part of withdrawal fee but the cost is smaller than nightmare if you lose all coin when a platform exits or disappear in the dark.

This strategy works better with altcoin blockchains with cheaper transaction fee but surely it does not include Ethereum blockchain.
598  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Any one have experienced before the same problem in p2p not showing currency on: October 12, 2023, 12:32:52 PM
Sometimes even when exchange detect your IP address, that does not mean that they will be the one to choose what currency you will have to use and make transactions.
Their system to detect your IP address and direct you to a local page for you can work or can not work at a time. You can see it even when you don't log in your account, visiting as a guest and they will open a local page for you, when their system works fine of course.

Quote
After one has completed KYC on a centralized exchange, it is very important to choose currency which you will be using to make transactions because there are some people that are expatriate in another regions and because they submitted there documents for KYC, that does not mean that it is the currency of the country they come from is the one that they'll want to use for transactions. This is why we ought to choose currency by ourselves for transaction purposes.
I know that. It's customization for your account and I agree with you that to save time, a user should customize some settings for an account. It can be done on exchanges don't require KYC too but it has become less popular because more exchanges do require KYC with time.

They can not find against their governments and if governments have a condition like KYC, AML to continue a business, the exchange team have to trigger KYC requirement on their users.

No-KYC Exchange Encyclopedia. Because they are centralized exchanges, their policies and terms of service can change anytime so I am always ready to do KYC if I use an account on a centralized platform.

Online casinos, online casinos, online casinos... These days, aren't they all over the place? You're right, though; just because two things seem similar doesn't always indicate they're being copied. As you said, the foundation of any profitable casino operation is reputation. It is crucial how they manage problems, communicate with gamers, and uphold their reputation. It appears like Sherbet is performing admirably in this regard.
Reputation is not everything but most important thing for any business. With good reputation, you can prolong your business operation, make new partnership, gain new customers and even can expand your business to be bigger.

Sherbet is very good in Bitcointalk and has gained its reputation here. It does not have too long history like other legendary casinos but everything must be started from day 1 and Sherbet is already in the forum many months. Time flies so fast and if they continue to operate well, in future when we talk about Sherbet, it will be a good, trusted and old casino.

Usually, website will detect your IP address and direct you to a local page based on your IP address then the local currency will be chose for you by default. It comes together with a language too so if you want to change language and currency for trading and user interface, you have to do it manually.

In your case, no display for any currency at all so I believe it is a problem with your Internet connection like many people discussed.
