Ragin... there is talk of some people getting some chips early from these larger orders. If so I would like to get mine shipped to BkkCoins for his board development. Keep us posted if this is possible.

We're playing the waiting game right now. I will update with any news but it's still 9-10 weeks AT LEAST to go...

585  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Possible to mine with ATI card and play games with NVIDIA card? on: April 30, 2013, 12:46:53 AM
yes, just set cgminer to use 7970.

Cool. It won't conflict with drivers or anything? I plan on putting the GTX 690 on the 16X GPU slot on my mobo and 7970 on the 3rd slot (I have Asus Maximus IV 4 GPU slots)
586  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Possible to mine with ATI card and play games with NVIDIA card? on: April 30, 2013, 12:23:36 AM
I just put in an order for a gtx 690 - I was wondering if I can play games on the GTX 690 while I mine with the 7970?

Drivers conflict?
587  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#2] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! United States of America! on: April 29, 2013, 09:22:13 PM
What about a lottery system for the early chips based on #bought. The only reason I say that is I'm working on a PCB DIY board and would like a shot to get a head start.

What was the final pre-shipping cost per chip? Want to verify before I send over/pledge BTCs. (Probably in for 36 chips).

pre-shipping is now calculated in

X/10000 * 2.1

so 2.1 BTC shipping is based on how many chips you bought now, for 36 chips it would be: 2.95596 BTC
588  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#2] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! United States of America! on: April 29, 2013, 08:11:57 PM
Also, what are we going to do with the few sample chips that Yifu sends about a week after the order date? I would like to get those all to myself, if nobody objects.

It will be up to the group. I say top contributors gets them. IMO.

Nothing really interesting i was just asking the way they determine
queue placement in case a customer (me) place pre-order for
"KNC Bitcoin miner numbers 1-500", a mars and jupiter. And this
Is his response:

We will put all of your orders together and make sure you get the place in the queue with the lowest number.

Been decades since I took math, but isn't 1 the lowest number? Somebody check my work.

590  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How long does it take to transfer from bank to MTGOX using Dwolla? on: April 29, 2013, 06:13:43 PM
8+ days now and still no funds in MTGOX ... I just submitted a ticket this is RIDICULOUS!
591  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#2] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! United States of America! on: April 29, 2013, 05:58:37 PM
I believe Yifu Guo sends the communication protocol and reference design docs only to those who place orders? If so, can each of us in this group buy get a copy of those? Thanks.

Yes of course.
592  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#2] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! United States of America! on: April 29, 2013, 05:45:21 PM
Just to clarify, no escrow is taking place on this buy?

Also, shouldn't we do this second buy basing the shipping price on a per-chip basis, rather than a per-order basis? Dividing all fees, including shipping and tarriffs by the 10,000 chips, and rolling it into one easy to calculate per-chip cost should save everybody a lot of headache, and will be more fair for everybody involved.

I'm interested in another 50 chips or so. But I don't want to pay more than my fair share of the freight on these things again, if that can be avoided.

A guy ordering 2000 chips paying the same as a guy ordering 10 chips, is crazy. Assuming 80 buyers like last time, that's .8% shipping per share. Guy one is benefitting from 20% of the order, he should be paying 20% of the shipping, but he's only paying a flat share of .08%.

Guy 2 is benefitting .01% of the order, while paying 8 times his share of the shipping. He should be paying .01% of the shipping costs..  Undecided

Just take the 782.1btc for the order, add the 2.1btc for shipping, for a total of 784.2. (823.41 Figure in 5% fees ( Divide that number by 10,000, and you get a result of .082341BTC per chip, shipping and fees included.

The tariffs can be divided by 10k as well, for a per-chip cost.

Individual shipping from OP to buyer will be whatever they are. No need to socialize the shipping and tariff costs though.

Also this makes it really easy to calculate how much to send per chip. If I want 50 chips, I multiply .082341 * number of desired chips (50).

50*.082341= 4.11705BTC

On the OP's end, it's also simple. Divide number of BTC sent by .082341 to verify number of chips paid for. Easy peasy! Grin

Should save the hassle of needing to do refunds for confusing over-payments, or any of that. Seems to me that a great deal of the work that JohnK had to put into the last one was figuring out who overpaid, by how much, and why. I know I had trouble figuring out how much I needed to actually send as well.

Just my $0.02. Take it for what it's worth.

Correct no escrow for this.

Shipping calculator, yes I will do that. Seems a lot more fair let me work on it! Done.

Avalon Shipping Calculator (take # chip from I9) X/10000 * 2.1:

X = number of chips you buy. If you buy 5000 you will pay 50% of 2.1 - thanks for the suggestion wrench!

Are you in for this group buy as well wrench?

Those who overpaid a bit in shipping (before calculator will have their BTC refunded) - I want to keep this wallet cold before I start any refunds though.
593  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#2] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! United States of America! on: April 29, 2013, 04:15:29 PM
Hi, just registering my contribution, I put in for 128 chips. I can't do SMT, but I know a local guy who does, or may ask one of the PCB developers for a package quote....

Added you to the list. Please send as soon as you can! Thanks!

Hey guys, other than burnin who else is building asics with these chips and have proven progress?  I'll buy some Chips if I can see some proof of work, and I wondering its possible to receive the built machine before BFL ships all theirs.  If anyone can address my concerns or don't mind assisting me in finding a person to build me a asic I'll be buying some chips :-)

Thanks

I am putting a team together in my local state but nothing concrete yet.
594  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC chips, destination Philippines (Dabs) on: April 29, 2013, 04:14:03 AM
Okay guys, we have two potential fabricator for your chips. One in Indonesia. One in Cebu, Philippines. Mr. Carlos Tapang, would it be alright with you for chips to be assembled by your team into working miners? I just send them over (with their permission), and you can forward the finished product to the owner.

Unless he wants to use your chip condo.

No I'm more interested in the chip space mansion.

Count me in for 1 chip please. I require Escrow / Secret Police Services / CIA agents for this transaction. Please confirm.
598  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: April 28, 2013, 10:52:26 PM
OP/ragingazn :

Please share your whereabouts with the people emailing you their private information. I would like to know who I am dealing with. Please reciprocate with your real name (full), address and phone number which can be reached.

I will send you an email as well.

Again guys I have been 100% compliant the entire time. When you buy something do you give out your name / address / phone? What do I plan to do with your email and phone?

Before shipping out I would like to give you a call and send you a PM so you can confirm that it is the correct address. This will provide with more security for your delivery. What if someone pretended to be you and sent me an email with their information trying to steal your chips and I didn't verify with you over the phone and PM?

Again if you run into any trouble with me, JohnK is bound to give you all my personal info.

No need to worry. If you do not wish to give away your name / phone number. That is fine. You can take the risk of losing your chips.

Not only that, but this was the deal the WHOLE TIME. Why is everybody suddenly changing their minds after the fact. The deal was that OP would remain Anonymous (which I believe is a good idea, considering the amount of extremely valuable product that is going to be in one place), the deal was that John would hold onto his name and personal info as part of the escrow. Stick with the original deal folks. Trying to reneg halfway into the deal is bad form.

If anybody truly feels that they can't continue with the original agreement, I'm confident that there are plenty of people here who would be willing to buy you out.

Thank you.

A few of you still haven't send me your info. Don't want your chips? Tongue I will donate them to hungry children in Africa!

Without further a due please email the following to avalonasics@gmail.com

*Note for Address please include as much detail as possible and make it accurate as much as possible. Please post here to confirm you sent the info so I know it's you! Sign your message if possible as well. Thanks! -Tom

'k. Please forgive me for the idiocy of the following question(s). I'm completely new to the entire mining aspect of Bitcoin, so I know, before ordering any of these puppies I need to understand if I actually grasp what I need to learn, and buy in addition, to make use of those chips. That's my job, and I understand that much Smiley

That said, here's the question that you maybe can help me with:

I guess I don't get the whole batch 1, batch 2 thing. Are all of them ordered and paid for already, or do you need to collect the funds to place the order. What I try to understand is this: if I transfer the required btc to you, how long will it approximately take before you start shipping them?

Again, sorry if that question was already answered (maybe that's what your point "lead time" meant), but I just want to be sure to understand what to expect.

Hey there,

Unlike Zefir (who only bought the first batch and resold it with a 10% mark up + tons of fees), I am charging only 5% for hosting the group buy and organizing things and packaging and shipping out the chips to individuals and you are responsible for your own individual fees (like shipping and import fees/ taxes etc.) - He also charges I believe $20 to ship your item out + you pay fees, with 10% more percent and another 20% for import fees and such.

Group Buy #1 is already done and chips pre-ordered. As soon as there's enough BTC for this group buy I will order immediately. At any point in the group buy you need your BTC back I will happily refund you but you cannot participate again, unless it is a dire emergency and you need the cash etc. -

Avalon states that they will start shipping out the chips 9-10 weeks so that will be the minimum. Once I know the order is coming to me I will make it my 100% priority to get this thing ship off to people ASAP! I will put everything else aside. As far as "lead time" that's mentioned by Avalon ASICs not me, I think it means that their expected manufactured date.

Please don't hesitate to ask any more questions Smiley

I can help you pick parts and assemble. No fees required but tip would be greatly appreciated! Where are you located?
