61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance seems to be HACKED once again. KYC documents leaked on: August 11, 2019, 02:55:01 PM
-snip-
I HATE KYC. I hate centralized exchanges

In that case, just refrain from using centralized exchanges. There are already a lot of options when it comes down to decentralized exchanges and most of them ensure 100% transparency.

-snip-
and even though this hack is labeled as FUD, it just goes to show how vulnerable these exchanges are.

Exchanges were, from the beginning of their existence, picky targets for top tier exploiters. With not much being budgeted towards security (and even though budgeted, not coming through with it) and raking in more profit in terms of fees, a big number of top tier exchanges have being under scrutiny for their flaws.
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: this is what every country will do on: August 11, 2019, 06:25:32 AM
It is a move resorted to by most of the countries in the world because of the uncertainty of business entities which indulge in accepting cryptocurrency as a payment processor. These funds can be used by the same entity for many illicit activities such as money laundering, underworld trading and tax evasion.
63  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] The International 2019: Dota 2 World Championship on: August 10, 2019, 09:44:29 PM
Since almost everybody here is talking about the prize money, let's also talk about the top teams contending for the same.

It doesn't come as a surprise that Chinese teams like PSG.LGD and VG will be favoured to win the tournament itself just because of the location, as they come in as fan favourites.

While the European teams have shown great performances across the DPC, Team Secret is going to be a strong contender for top 6 (although they've consistently underperformed at TI) along with Liquid who showed a promising major run with w33. Everyone will have an eye on VP who again have been consistent performers throughout the season but are known to fall off during TI. Also, defending champs OG also have a good shot of making it big

Coming to NA, the only talking prospect here is obviously EG who are known for ups and downs and sudden peeks is the season. Maybe RTZ can really break the curse this time and if they end up 3rd, disband inc.

When it comes to SEA teams, TNC especially after getting Heen as coach, has showed a lot of promise with consistent top finishes at multiple majors. Fnatic and Mineski are also teams to watch out for with replacements in their carry players/positions.

All in all, this is going to be one hell of a TI and I'm highly looking forward to it.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin mixers be considered illegal by worldwide governments? on: August 10, 2019, 11:42:03 AM
In the eyes of governments around the world, coin mixers are infamous tools which facilitate illegal/underground activities. Since most mixers run parallel, both on the clearnet and a mirror on the dark web, it is a big giveaway that the coins linked with it are being involved in criminal activities. The so called untraceable funds are again used for similar purposes.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Non-profit ICOs/IEOs on: August 10, 2019, 07:05:29 AM
I'm glad you said your idea was hypothetical as it would never make its way to the real world. Investors put their money on projects with expectations of earning profits over a period of time and here you are, telling them that you're running a non profit company which would never attract the investors in the first place.

Then again, depending on what model of distribution of funds you use, it is almost impossible to declare your ICO as non-profit as a sum of tokens would be allocated for the team and/or for market stabilization which quickly becomes controversial if your project is truly a non-profit one or not.
66  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Real market manipulation on: August 10, 2019, 06:31:30 AM

This pretty much sums up the topic of discussion simply because there has been plenty of occasions where the market of different tokens has been subjected to massive manipulation by so called 'whales'.

Not too long ago was a time when coins used to appear and disappear in a matter of weeks, all because of the 'pump and dump' schemes which still stand as the biggest example of market manipulation.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alteseason will never happen? on: August 09, 2019, 04:55:01 PM
Having a closer look at the dominance graph over time, there has been multiple dips for Bitcoin with the lowest point being around 35%. Since it is known that we are almost approaching the 21 million exhaustion, there will certainly come a time where more and more altcoins will enter the scene and certainly give Bitcoin a good run for its money in terms of dominance.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of physical attacks against Bitcoin owners on: August 09, 2019, 04:29:54 PM

Don't quite understand the point behind posting a list of physical attacks that have happened to Bitcoin owners on Github. He could've written an article or even a blog post with respective links to each listed occurrence.

Coming down to the actual point, it kind of is the stupidity of an individual to publicly announce his/her cryptocurrency holdings no matter how big or small. Its just seen as an alternate currency to fiat and with physical crimes are at large in most parts of the globe, you never know when someone recognizes you in the crowd and the inevitable happens.
69  Economy / Economics / Re: Did Satoshi ever mention anything about the taxing of Bitcoin? on: August 09, 2019, 04:16:52 PM
Bitcoin was never meant to be regulated by any entity and therefore any talks about 'taxing Bitcoin' does not make much sense. Of course, looking at all the cryptocurrency regulatory rules that have been built by different countries kind of seems like a taxation on the currency itself and yet the only sort of 'fee' a Bitcoin user would be paying is the miner fee and nothing more.

71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possible reason why Bitcoin price is decreasing for last few days on: June 11, 2018, 02:38:00 PM
There is no major negative news and thus it is not because of it.

You my friend, need better sources of news as the South Korean exchange hack news is currently the biggest factor that is causing this backlash on Bitcoin prices from the past few days. It is going to be a hard recovery road with the past month not bringing in too much of growth, the situation looks pretty grim.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to join Bounty Campaigns managed by the ICO team themselves? on: June 11, 2018, 01:53:50 PM
Altcoin paying campaigns run by the ICO team's representative usually pay out as they do not want a black spot for their project (given that the project is legit). Bitcoin or Ethereum paying campaigns should definitely escrow funds with a trusted member before launching the campaign.
73  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain as a solution to inequality? on: June 11, 2018, 01:07:04 PM
Would've been more precise if it was 'cryptocurrencies' in the title and not blockchain. While blockchain is just the backbone of cryptos, it could have nothing to do with inequality as it acts more like a ledger than anything else. On the other hand, cryptocurrencies have typically been 'trust and invest in us and get rich quick' schemes (not all of them) and this has been the turnaround that has been guaranteeing close to an equal wealth distribution through sales and airdrops.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How fast did you get confused about Cryptocurrency? on: June 10, 2018, 04:53:01 PM
First day of checking the altcoin ann section on this very forum had me awestruck looking at hundreds of emerging projects each day. Thank god I didn't have investing in these protects on my mind as little did I know that the majority of these projects fall very much short of their expected soft cap or just turn out to be scams.
What seemed like a market of massive possibilities,(taking nothing away from the current crypto market) it seems like the hole keeps getting bigger as more victims continue to fall into it.
75  Economy / Speculation / Re: McAfee Predictions... on: June 10, 2018, 03:29:35 PM
Says the guy who mints million sitting his arse on a chair reviewing ICOs while giving them blind publicity. There's too many people who already tune into his predictions and this number just keeps going up.

People should start turning a deaf ear on this guy's words and that could be the only way shutting this guy completely out of the cryptocurrency scene.

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin price before and after airdrop on: June 07, 2018, 02:41:08 PM
If you're expecting airdropped coins to go up just after the airdrop, I'm afraid that isn't the case for any token. Airdrops decrease the price of the coin substantially as the market is diluted due to free distribution and this will only lead to the price going lower.
After the token would've made progress in its path (if at all any), only the could we witness a surge in price and this isn't the case with the majority of airdropped tokens.
78  Economy / Economics / Re: Best ways to serve Country Economically. on: June 07, 2018, 12:40:27 PM
Along with all of the points mentioned in OP, I think fair distribution of wealth goes a long way into the economic development of a country. Charity is considered god's work and the richer part of the society should always step it up to donate to the needy, and this surely goes a long way into improving the overall growth of any nation.
79  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think there is institutional manipulation of the Bitcoin price? on: June 07, 2018, 07:55:12 AM
With the current market cap of Bitcoin being upward of $131 billion, it is hard to think of any sort of price manipulation given the distribution of the currency. Yet, there have been many instances in the past wherein 'sharks' have dictated the price of Bitcoin, deriving utmost profit for themselves.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think we'll reach January 2018 market cap again? on: June 07, 2018, 02:27:20 AM
On January 2018 the market cap crossed the $800 bln, when will it happen again?

It is definitely going to take a massive bullish run to get back to the Dec-Jan glory days and it is very unlikely to happen as this year has been mostly about slow, bearish recovery. With more and more coins making its way to the market, the volumes might just put the overall market cap to $1T in a couple of years.
