701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gold fork on: October 04, 2017, 02:12:19 PM
Do I have to store my Bitcoin in a specific wallet (I might be new, but I'm not stupid enough to send my coin to you ;-) ), or do anything to activate this, or will it happen automatically? (If the fork goes ahead, of course).

You need your coins to be stored in a wallet that you have the private keys to so that once the fork happens, you can use the same private key to gain access to the newly forked Bitcoin gold (or whatever it will be called)
Just make sure not to store your coins in an exchange like Coinbase because you don't have access to the private keys of your wallet and eventually won't be able to claim your Bitcoin gold.
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HOW TO SPOT A WINNING ICO on: October 04, 2017, 02:07:25 PM
Its kind of like a situation wherein the developers and the whole team is hyped at the very beginning of the project but the same enthusiasm isn't carried forward after the ICO stage. I've come across many such ICOs who have a great ideology but never follow through with putting everything up as planned on the roadmap because as soon as they see the money flowing from the ICO, they tend to become lazier with stuff.
Only a few tokens have actually made on time progress with their roadmap and these are the real winning ones in my eyes.
703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What was your biggest casino win? on: October 02, 2017, 03:32:01 PM
Dating a few years back when BTC was around $350 a coin, I won a 2 BTC pot on Primedice with 49.5% win chance. Although I went on to lose it in the next session, it was my biggest win in a single bet. Still regret having gotten greedy at that point but oh well, it was all gone in seconds.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In your opinion, whats wrong with the current Crypto-Community? on: October 02, 2017, 01:51:58 PM
There are multiple problems with the crypto community but I'll point two of the main ones. Firstly, spreading FUD without any backing to it. Secondly, it would be the pump and dump factor associated with hyped coins. There is no possible way of eradicating these problems as there will be more and more people doing their things.
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the best way for bitcoin to be known to all levels of society on: October 02, 2017, 08:13:27 AM
Personally, I think that the bigger companies who are already accepting Bitcoin should take a stride forward to advertise 'Bitcoin accepted here' and how exactly the whole system works. May it be TV ads, banners etc, more people will learn about digitized payments for daily trade which is where the common people begin understanding the crypto payment system is better than the traditional fiat currency system.
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai Will Issue First Ever State Cryptocurrency on: October 02, 2017, 08:03:21 AM
This is just amazing news for the whole altcoin world as more Arab kings and princes will learn about cryptocurrencies, expect multi-million investments pouring into ICOs/coins with potential in the near future. As for the currency, it would make things simpler for a place like Dubai with a properly implemented system, daily trade should get smoother.
707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: can gambling give you lessons in life? on: October 01, 2017, 04:39:30 PM
Oh definitely yeah, gambling has a lot to teach about life and the main thing for me has been not to be greedy and be satisfied with whatever I have. Its easy to get carried away while gambling and lose everything eventually and this is exactly a life lesson when it comes down to money, power etc. Being able to simulate gambling incidences in real life situations can also help assess one's flaws and to help for his betterment.
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin can replace Ethereum? on: October 01, 2017, 04:32:48 PM
Ethereum is current the #no2 of all Altcoins with smart contract features and possibly one of the strongest among all Altcoins. Which coin do you think will replace Ethereum in the future (if they managed to fork)? Or do you think Ethereum will remain it's #no2 position and and no other Altcoins can beat? I have a list below that have the potential. Would appreciate to have your input.

1. Lisk (open source; Crypti fork)
    - Javascript (typescript) based; Blockchain Application Platform; DPOS; Lisk APP SDK; Sidechain owner rights

2. Qtum (open source; combines Bitcoin Core fork; ERC-20 token) own Mainet soon!
    - hybrid blockchain application platform; self-aware governing system; EVM; POS; Oracle & Datafeeds allow smart contracts

3. MelonPort (open source; ERC-20 token)
    - Asset (Hedge Fund) management; M-0; Module builders; smart contract with traceable transaction; Oyente partnership

4. Zcash (open source)
   - privacy-shielded transactions (inc. public & private address); zero-knowledge proof @ zk-SNARKs;

5. EOS (open source; ERC-20 token)
   - powered by Block.one; POS; horizontal scaling of dAPPS; token distribution for 341 days; flexi-applications; web toolkits

6. NEO (open source)
   - 'The chinese Ethereum' (rebranding from Antshares); Neocontracts; dApps; dBFT consensus mechanism; superconducting transactions; NeoX-NeoQS-NeoFS

For now, it seems like Ethereum is an irreplaceable cryptocoin though some of the coins in your list have great potential in the coming days. Ethereum is already supporting lots of smaller altcoins through their ERC-20 token system which will keep them afloat and at the #2 position. I consider ZCash and Waves to be potential competitors for ETH's #2 position.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Busted: Six bitcoin looters including a woman arrested by the Delhi police on: October 01, 2017, 02:33:06 PM
Here comes the ill effects of actually allowing free trade of Bitcoin in the country! Its really saddening to see scams already surfacing up, even on highly reputed sites like LBTC. Its going to be a hell of a ride for BTC in India and expect rules & regulations being imposed on Bitcoin trade in the near future. RBI will play its hand soon and we are all here in wait over their decision.
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reverse the bans! Sign the petition to reinstate ICOs in China and South Korea on: October 01, 2017, 02:26:39 PM
I understand your urge to continue ICOs and altcoins in China and South Korea but take it from me, even if you get 7 billion signs on your petition (just about the number of people in this world), those countries would still not listen to anybody. Their decisions are completely based internal decision making which is carried out by the communist government and we all know how communist governments work in this world.
Anyways, signed the petition for the hope of good.
711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any solution for Bitcoin Instant Confirmation ? on: October 01, 2017, 11:39:36 AM
For now, you just have to wait for miners to pick your transaction from the memory pool and put it into a block. Usually when there are not that much of unconfirmed transaction in the network (https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions), the fees would be considerably lower compared to the time where there would be heaps of unconfirmed transactions and at this point everyone pushes the fees higher for faster confirmations.
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cartaxi ICO on: October 01, 2017, 11:35:46 AM
One of the most reliable ICOs in recent times which has actually stuck to is words. The advertising and campaigns are doing a great job at attracting investors and this is playing a key roll in its success.
The only hard part for the project would be making everything work according to plan. In a country like India, I don't think this would be feasible for various reasons and they have plans of expanding here in the coming year. I will be eagerly waiting to see how it goes.
713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Mining CryptoCurrency on Porn Tube Sites be the Way of the Future? on: October 01, 2017, 09:09:51 AM
Whichever site uses these browser miners are sure to have less traffic being directed to them and as a result will eventually lose out on the Alexa rank list. When users find out high CPU usage for just keeping a tab open, they will obviously not want their CPUs to overheat and will close the tab so these tactics are very lackluster. May it be torrent or porn sites, they will lose their main subscription revenue if they resort to use these mining plugins.
714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: crypto currency discussion on: October 01, 2017, 07:24:38 AM
You wouldn't exactly be able to derive maximum profits from investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum unless you're looking at long term profits. Just look around the altcoin market and you will find multiple coins going beyond 10x in very short time spans from its begining. Then again, it's riskier compared to the likes of BTC and ETH.
715  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Long-mid term trading, beating the Whales on: October 01, 2017, 06:57:01 AM
It's an easy thing to get carried away into buying or selling while there is a big buy order by a whale. You can compare it to a bait and whoever falls for it ends up giving profit to the whale. I would just wait for the whale to do his thing and wait for things to stabilise. Even if you join him to make some quick profit, it would be less compared to their big buy ins.
716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to Bitcoin if China shuts all physical Internet cables. on: October 01, 2017, 06:35:22 AM
The possibility of this happening is almost nil because if China pushes this kind of a move, it would be nothing less than another North Korea to other countries. Their relations with Russia and USA become questionable.
As far as Bitcoin is concerned, there would definitely be another fork with a big Chinese group being the major players or China could themselves begin a new coin backed by the communist government just like Japan's J-coin idea.
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cannabis Coins - Which are promising to help the industry? on: October 01, 2017, 06:30:40 AM
As far as putting up cannabis tokens on exchanges to mainly trade goes, it will be hard to find markets across the world where this would be deemed legal. Of course it would be legal only for medical purposes and nothing outside of that.
I don't think a blockchain for cannabis trading through tokens would be viable in a world where it is mostly illegal and the only way this could work is on the TOR network but then again we all know the horrors of deep web markets.
718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Voting with a Blockchain on: September 29, 2017, 05:16:40 AM
This has a lot of strings attached to it, mainly governments not wanting to changing the system at all. Current reigning parties would always turn down these systems because there is corruption at almost every turn and this is what leads to their successful electoral campaign.
Of course this could make everything completely transparent but no government in the world wants it that way so this is almost ruled out.
719  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin can hit 5000$ before november?? on: September 28, 2017, 11:51:39 AM
With another chain split bound to occur in October as per sources, it's going to be a hard call to say if Bitcoin can cross the $5k mark. If everything occurs just like the previous hard fork, it will surely go beyond the mark in November as all the FUD would've disappeared to thin air.
720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TOP 30 successful ICO campaigns in 2017 (INFOGRAPHIC). What conclusions? on: September 28, 2017, 11:21:21 AM
Some of the coins in the list had even more potential considering that they hit their hard cap very early in the ICO stage. Enigma is one such token. Should it have been uncapped, it would've raised over $100M for sure.
