541  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Minimum coin to begin trading? on: November 12, 2017, 07:31:56 AM
I was wondering what's minimum / ideal amount of BTC or ETH I should have in order to start trading activity

If you have any idea or just want to share your first experience in crypto trading, feel free to write them bolow

I would recommend starting out with a small sum like $100-200 and trying to make short term profits by investing in altcoins as the Bitcoin market has seen a significant crash lately. This would ensure you experience and with the right choices and timings, you will end up with some profit too. Just look around in the altcoin section for potentially up and coming coins and divest into multiple alts just to be sure that you won't go down in one bow.
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I be bothered? on: November 12, 2017, 07:19:47 AM
Only the original main-chain i.e Bitcoin Core will be called Bitcoin and no other forked coin can take its place. Shouldn't be bothered about a random post with some intriguing questions as Bitcoin Cash/Bitcoin Gold/Segwit2x or any other fork that might happen in the future can never replace Bitcoin with the support it receives from the community.

545  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anyone use YoBit anymore? on: November 07, 2017, 02:00:48 AM
Weren't they the same exchange that pulled off a gimmick by giving their users BTG even before the actual fork happened? These little tricks of theirs are the only things keeping them in contention as an exchange. Probably going to use it again before the Segwit2x fork as I would be maximizing my profit when they list B2X before the fork and it becomes easy dumping ground.
546  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin pricing on: November 06, 2017, 05:22:57 PM
A simple answer would be the factors of supply and demand which makes the price of Bitcoin fluctuate like an oscillating object with no particularly set lower or upper limits. With that being said, we are nearing the maximum supply pool rapidly and with the ever increasing demand for Bitcoin, the price keeps rising till any external factors influence it and temporarily hinder its progress.
547  Economy / Economics / Re: What will happen if the government know bitcoin in your country? on: November 06, 2017, 04:53:16 PM
I guess by now every county's government would've known about Bitcoin by now because of its raise to fame in the past couple of years.
In India, the government initially took an aggressive stance against Bitcoin, condemning the idea of digital cryptocurrencies to be an outright scam and even made arrests of people trying to trade the currency. Later, the government realised the positives of cryptos which overshadow the negatives and hence currently have a neutral stand.
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICOs Are Biggest Scam Ever on: November 06, 2017, 02:37:29 PM
Infamous penny-stockbroker Jordan Belfort, better known as the ‘Wolf of Wall Street,’ has reaffirmed his claim that initial coin offerings (ICOs) are “the biggest scam ever.” Earlier this year, he claimed that Bitcoin is a fraud.
ICOs have become popular to investors worldwide over the past year due to their high returns for early investors. Recently, signs have emerged that some ICOs might just be too good to be true.

Let's separate those statements as one to be calling out Bitcoin and the other one as calling out the altcoins to be a scam. Pretty sure he would be regretting his statement about Bitcoin as it is reaching all time heighs very often. Altcoins and ICOs on the other hand, are proving to be really bad investments and dropping down in value on every turn. Wouldn't be surprised if he had big investments in few ICOs and a backlash there is the eventuality of this statement coming out.
549  Economy / Economics / Re: Get 16% more Bitcoin by selling B2X before the SegWit2X fork! on: November 06, 2017, 02:04:29 PM
Best case scenario for all those who hoarded up Bitcoins in preparation for the fork, as they will obtain the highest 'dump' value on Segwit2x before the mass dump actually happens when the official fork happens. The exchanges offering this are pulling off a brave one in doing so as they're giving out B2X even before it is out and if something goes unexpected, it is going to be a big blunder.
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should i do with my bitcoins against the next fork on: November 06, 2017, 06:19:08 AM
There is only one logically sound thing you can do pre-fork that yes HODL. By doing this you not only receive equivalent coins from the new fork but also with some patience, get more value out of your held Bitcoins as witnessed during the last two post-fork periods. This could be the best case scenario, obtaining utmost value from your Bitcoin unless otherwise which is if you decide to panic sell.
551  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: new addition to my site: tool to prove CPU mining is dead on: November 05, 2017, 03:16:00 PM
I was so sick and tired having to repeat, time after time, that:
  • you should not mine BTC with your CPU
  • you should not mine BTC with your GPU
  • you should not mine BTC with a cellphone
  • you should not mine BTC with an old ASIC, unless it still has reasonable hashrate, you have free electricity and you got the ASIC for free

This is why i wrote a small tool that fetches the current diff, calculates the average block reward ( 12,5 BTC + average sum of fees over the last 24 hours) and applies this function: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=726962.msg8221939#msg8221939 to these numbers, then prints the outcome for a couple of CPU's, GPU's, mobile CPU's,...

I hope other people will point to this tool the next time somebody dares to claim that it's a good idear to start mining on your desktop. It basically proofs that it's not a good idear, so hopefully it'll stop any further discussions in it's track.

without further introduction:
https://www.mocacinno.com/nonspecialisedmininghardware.php

The tool uses blockchain's API for the difficulty and average fees. It also doesn't use a database, the hardware is just hardcoded into the script. If this page is loaded +100 times/day, i'll probably put the data into a relational database, and cache blockchain's api reply (so i only update the diff and block reward once every day).

If you'd like to help out by adding other hardware to the list, please do so in following format:
Code:
"name of the hardware" => array("hashrate" => hashrate_in_hashes_per_sec, "powerconsumption" => powerdraw_in_watt, "type" => "GPU/CPU/ASIC"),
reference link

for example:
Code:
"AMD ATI 3410" => array("hashrate" => 890000, "powerconsumption" => 12, "type" => "GPU"),
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Non-specialized_hardware_comparison

or
Code:
"Antminer S9" => array("hashrate" => 14000000000000, "powerconsumption" => 1375, "type" => "ASIC"),
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

Had read your posts previous to this and it does make a lot of sense not to be bothered with mining with all the CPU/GPU miners with all the electricity it consumes and heat it gives away. Makes me wonder if most of the GPU miners actually realize that they're at loss and still carry on with the process. Also, with the new JavaScript browser miners on the rise (like PirateBay), I wonder if they make any decent profit given that they have a vast user base and rely on CPU mining.
552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex will support nov 2017 split segwitx2 B2X on: November 05, 2017, 02:55:23 PM
Why is everyone running around like headless chickens about the exchanges accepting B2X? Just hold all your coins on a wallet which gives you explicit access to your private keys. When the fork eventually happens, the official dev team of Segwit2x should provide a list of trusted wallets and you can import those private keys into it after safely transferring your coins to another address. Never rely on exchanges as they might suddenly bail out any moment and you will be at lose of not obtaining your forked coins.
553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What factor need to check before buying a Coin on: November 05, 2017, 12:45:50 PM
The most important factor while buying into a coin is its roadmap and if you believe it could make the impact that the team actually intend on reaching. In the current altcoin market with thousands of new tokens, it gets hard to choose and many of these die out before they make it through to the end.
One more interesting factor that I have noticed is that investing during ICO phase of almost any project is pretty much useless as the coin is bound to fall way below ICO price once it hits exchanges so investing post ICO is a far better choice.
554  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Impact the Signature Campaign ?? on: November 05, 2017, 12:23:19 PM
I find myself fortunate enough to be a part of a high paying signature campaign for my rank. Recently, all the new signature campaigns have reduced their pay due to Bitcoin's price spike. In your case, your posts needs a lot of improvement to stand a chance at being accepted for a campaign so good luck.
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A warning to those who wants to join Deep Onion Airdrop on: November 05, 2017, 09:00:27 AM
With so many accusations against it and the lead developer even being tagged on here, it is definitely not worth participating in the airdrop, the value of the coin which decreased by over 60% in the last few months. I did try to join the airdrop myself when it initially began but the mods being very selective denied me without any particular reason. No wonder another story of a shitcoin which was pumped by deluded new entrants to the 'anonymous token' market.
556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are Vorhees and Ver becoming such crybabies? on: November 05, 2017, 08:09:37 AM
Probably was pointing out the high congestion of unconfirmed transactions which included one of his so he seems to be crying about it. Still I feel its a bit awful that he actually made such a statement being fortunate enough to be amidst all his fortune while there were so many deprived of basic elements of life like food and shelter.
557  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Price Moving Towards $7500, Market needs a crash on: November 05, 2017, 05:41:48 AM
For most of the part, the ones asking Bitcoin's price crash is the entire altcoin market. Having struggled through the entirety of the last few months, a Bitcoin crash could be ideal for all of the altcoins to rise back up.
About the Indian market scenario, it looks poised for more investors to be able to chime in to the Bitcoin market. With a few proper functioning exchanges unlike the most popular big marginal ones and better customer support, it already looks to be highly flourishing.
558  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin kill maximum alt coins? on: November 05, 2017, 05:05:15 AM
Bitcoin being the first cryptocurrency ever is a great deal to consider as altcoins were everything that followed. Its a very common trend these days to notice altcoins all in blood red while Bitcoin has been enjoying all the price rise and attention. Vice versa, when Bitcoin hits a slump, all the altcoins start working their way back up and at this point, only the established coins perform well and rise up to the expected standards while the rest of them are left behind.
559  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin new high 7500 USD on: November 05, 2017, 04:55:22 AM
I also think so, the price is very high. do not let the issue is not august that price will come down next year, so we must always check the updated price so that when the price decline we can quickly sell it agat did not suffer a lot of losses.

Good way to deny yourself profits coming straight into your pockets. Yeah go on and sell while it declines as it will only surprise you to raise back to more heights while you will be sobbing about how could've held on. Congratulations on joining the panic sellers' club.
560  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Disble Blockchain 2 step verification on: November 04, 2017, 03:56:27 PM
Had a similar problem myself and I requested removal of 2FA through an SMS confirmation and after entering the code it was still asking me to enter the authenticator code while attempting to log in. Tried again after a few hours after creating a support ticket and later was able to log in without the auth prompt so just be patient for a few hours it should be fixed.
