What is this hashing chip guys? Care to provide a link?

Most Bitcoin veterans are already aware of the key points of this article. What is missing is timing, and with the impending halving, it could be the catalyst that switches on the next bull market. FOMO is a big emotion here.

at least pin out ?
Did you look at the schematics we just posted? 2 pins for data (SCK&SDATA) and all the rest for power.
Actually that is bullshit. Bitfury_POWER has around 40 pins, most of them non-obvious.

Will you actually dare to disclose what the PARITY pin does and what is the function of the two associated LEDs?

Actually you're wrong. The 28nm chip has VCC, GND and two I/O pins as you can clearly see from images like the 1block_short.jpg for example. The 250nm is another story. It's a comm chip with 3 dedicated lines for each 28nm chip, reference voltage, clock and data + bunch of other stuff. Calling bullshit when you didn't even comprehend the question that I answered is a bit harsh.
How do the COMM chips connect to the external world? Will the 16nm Bitfury chip be available in QFN package?

65  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: February 12, 2016, 11:34:39 PM
Hello everyone! I registered to ask this question because Bitmaintech lets me wait more than 40 days for an answer to my support ticket....

This is my question: How many Antminer S7 units can I connect to one unit of this PSU? Physically it seems that you could connect at least 2 pieces of S7 to one PSU. Does this really work or is it unwise (overloading, fire hazard etc...)?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Bitmain clearly says that ONE APW3-12-1600 PSU for ONE ANTMINER S7. And there is no extra PCI-E connectors.
See https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160129054250700R0OMI3KI061A

Yup only one S7 can be powered by a APW3-12-1600 PSU. There just enough connectors and power capacity for a single S7.

I paid ~USD160 (duties + facilitation fees) on the S7 B7 imported to Swiss.

do not buy this crap unless you have really good fire insurance.
Did one catch fire recently?  Huh Huh

The PSUs are quite profitable for them, not very high quality but it helps capture more revenue and profit per unit given the convenience for buyers of S7s
I don't know why you mention that the PSU is not very high quality.
IMO The PSU is v+good quality, on par with quality of Seasonic 80PLUS gold PSUs.
For e.g. they use top notch Nippon Chemicon high temperature capacitors, the cooling fan is a Delta part, etc.
What they have skimped on is features for home miners, like foolproof PCI-E plugs, adjustable fan speed, 110V input, power switch. These PSUs are not noob friendly, but for the seasoned miner who knows their stuff.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1060439.200

I reallllllly doubt they are anywhere near the level Seasonic are at. We're talking about bitmain here.... And comparing them to one of the top dogs in the PSU industry.

The 1600w bitmain PSUs aren't bad, for sure, but we haven't had a proper review of them. We have no clue what the regulation or ripple numbers are. I wish bitmain would send a sample in to jonnyguru.
It's easy to calculate approx regulation levels, by using a good voltage meter and a known load like a S7 miner. I doubt it's too bad, since I measured < 0.5V drop using an OC S7.
No idea about the ripple though (that's something that Jonnyguru or a PSU reviewer could check).

A very important part of a PSU are the caps, and the Bitmain 1600W PSU have one of the best (Nippon chemicon), also used by Seasonic and other good PSUs, but not used in Corsair RM1000. Interestingly the Bitmain PSU board has polymer conformal coating at the bottom. I have not seen that in other ATX PSUs.

Free samples?

What is the chip package type?

Is it pin compatible with Bitfury ver1 and ver2 chips?

Will ready my hot air tools + soldering station, rPI, and Scope soon.

whats the difference between a gold and a platinum
Not a lot. A few percentage points in efficiency.

How many people are still running the SP20?  Love them but need more efficient models

I got four running at my home.

They are nice hardware to play with.
They were state of the art when launched. Right now the max efficiency i get is 2.2W/GH/s at wall using 80Plus Gold PSU. At this efficiency the speed per device is around 850GH/s.

I think you must have the Watts and GH ratio switched. Using the 2.2 W/GH and 850 GH, that would mean a power draw of well over 1800 Watts. That just makes zero sense for an SP20. At 850 GH, what is the power draw in watts?

Is it possible that it's really 2.2 GH/W?
I'm in Switz, and the power rates are here through the sky. Thus I want to keep them running at their maximum efficiency.
Right now I am running the SP20 at 0.6V, with 100W Max PSU Power per Unit. The stats are 850GH/s and 375W @ Wall.
If I set the voltage or power any lower, I see that the SP20 will not start mining. Is there any other setting that I am missing.

You are right, must double check. It's 2.2GH/s per watt at the wall.
BTW, is there any way to get to 3GH/s per watt with the SP20?

The best you could get from an SP20 was around 0.33W/Ghs as I've always calculated it, and most I've seen calculate it as well. That might not be at the wall though. Im not sure how many ways we can do this but if you are getting 750Ghs, and you expend 250W, your usage is 0.33W/Ghs.

I guess that's 3Ghs per Watt. So the math were using is the same just expressed in different forms. I think mine is more commonly used is all.

I might be overestimating this SP20 efficiency by a little now that I think about it. I get cheap power so I never went that low besides just to see what they could do. I think the best you could get was something like 0.35w/Ghs which brought your speed down to 700-800Ghs or so. The problem with that is unless you have absurd power prices your better off bumping it up to 1,100-1,200Ghs which was about 0.6W/Ghs, basically matching the S5 pound for pound.
