61  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Alert] About Facebook Libra Coins! on: August 19, 2019, 10:26:45 PM
People need a healthy portion of scepticism when reading this kind of news...
Or, at least they would need a kind of mindset to double check news...
But if it's about getting rich quick (or even quicker), they just don't think about the risks and they just act without thinking before...
It's a kind of FOMO, if they start to think about this news (thinking is hard and takes time Smiley ), it's possible that they will miss the opportunity, so they just act and think about it after, when it's too late already...
Greed is a strong emotion and scammers just know this... and use this...
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pricing everyday items in SATs on: August 19, 2019, 10:14:16 PM
I thought that this thread would be a some kind of new 'Big Mac Index' to compare some countries' prices on a common and well known subject, but not in USD but in BTC
But it seems that the topic has changed and now it's everything about using Sats instead of BTC, and nothing about the prices of the coke, restaurant, rocket, etc...
Or I just misunderstood something and this was just to propagate using Sats to calculate prices?
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silvergate Bank Eyes Crypto-Backed Loans for Institutions on: August 19, 2019, 10:00:06 PM
This is already done, it's just smaller:
The project is the INLOCK and as far as I know it helps giving out loans in stablecoins and the loans are backed by cryptos like Bitcoin and the main alts.
As soon as the exchange rate goes against the lender, an automated transaction is closing the loan and the collateral is used to pay back the loan, but if the exchange rate is fine, the loan will continue.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Croatian post office now offer crypto exchange on: August 19, 2019, 09:49:46 PM
@dzoni:
Do you serve only local people with the ID issued by the country of Croatia?
Or anyone from the EU/world?
You only buy crypto from people who already have it, and you don't sell crypto to the people, right?
Hey bitart, sorry for prolonged response. Anyway, the service is available to both local residents and tourists. You can use the service with an ID issued in any country in the world :-)

At this point in time we do not sell crypto, no. We hope to change that in the Autumn :-)
Thanks for your response Smiley
This pilot is really interesting, so I'll keep an eye on it Smiley
Too bad that the bitcoin store has to change their service, I haven't heard about similar service in the EU. People in Croatia were lucky (are lucky by the end of the year Smiley )

65  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost wallet on: August 18, 2019, 09:09:36 PM
Sad
I feared that. Nothing can be done. At that time I started and was naive. School of Life  Smiley
thanks to all for your help  Wink Smiley
Think positive, you already started to deal with cryptocurrencies (at least bitcoin) so you're usually one of the 5% of the people in your country who at least have a clue about this subject...
So if you just move on and continue to deal with bitcoin, you'll learn more and you will be able to make money in the and with your knowledge.
This needs time and effort, but 'no pain, no gain' Smiley
So take this as a lesson you've already learnt and move on, do your own research every time when you deal with your money

When someone asks how we can earn money on Bitcointalk, signature campaigns is the first thing which comes to our minds usually. Yeah, it's good way to earn some money, but there are much wore ways to earn money here. You only have to be creative. Sell your own services - design, coding, writting of articles and etc. Sell goods on marketplace. Promote your own business. For example if you have online store and accept Bitcoin as payment method, it can be interesting for forum users.
Personally, here I promote my own blog (link to it under my username). I get some traffic from Bitcointalk and I earn affiliate commission from websites that I promote on my blog, I also earn from advertisements placed on my site. So, as you can see there so many ways how you can make money in Bitcointalk.
This is a really good example, that you have your own business and the forum helps you, at least to generate some traffic, which will make you a bit more money...
But this is based on an existing website, which you have already done and you have done a lot of marketing, planning, etc... to start it and to get it going... This is a lot of effort from you and a lot of time...
But users here just want to make quick money here without any effort and with the possible less time invested into their 'work', and they are waiting for the big money....
Forum can help people but cannot give free lunch, because there's no free lunch...
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Zealand Gives Greenlight for Cryptocurrency Income and Salary Payments on: August 16, 2019, 09:22:48 PM
It's not only makes running the economy cheaper if goverments change from coins and banknotes to GovCoin (state running stablecoin), but it makes super easy to trace the routes of the money, they will be able to find out what you buy when you got your salary... (governments was not able or it was really time/energy consuming to trace the routes of the banknotes used on the black market... it was not too effective anyway), so this is good for making the black market a bit more grey or to whiten the grey market a bit...
People won't be afraid of these stablecoins, because it's only digital coin or digital banknote on the smartphone, so it will be hard only for the elder people who don't really use smartphone, so they have to give time for the adoption....

68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coins and Bank mesh! on: August 16, 2019, 09:08:04 PM
I don't really get what do you mean, but bitcoin is totally different from these kind of coins, because bitcoin is decentralized and others are (or will be) centralized.
There were several threads about the difference, and unfortunately the average joes don't really care if a coin is centralized or decentralized. If facebook will start the marketing for it's new 'currency' average joes will be happy to start using it, and they won't care about the background or about the technical details. People are lazy enough to just use the tools they get from somewhere and they don't really want to understand/deal with the details... Just an example, most of the people don't have a clue how the engine of the car works, they only know that they have to fill it up with gasoline and turn the ignition key, and it works, they don't care about the rest...
Bitcoin is for those who care, that's all... so I bet that libra will have much quicker adoption among everyday people then bitcoin... But this also can help bitcoin, because if people get used to use 'cryptocurrencies', they won't be afraid of bitcoin anymore, I hope...
69  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you guys are making money from this forum? ideas on: August 16, 2019, 08:34:06 PM
There are many kinds of ways to earn money here.
  • Bounty in Altcoins
  • BTC Campaigns
  • Services
...
I would just change the order of the items in your list like this:
- Services
- BTC Campaigns
- Alt bounty
This is the order of the money you can make with these kind of things.

The best is to use your skills and advertise yourself in Services. E.g. if you can retouch photographs really good and you are short on bitcoins, you can advertise that you will retouch for BTC, so if some is short on time to retouch his/her photographs and has a deadline, he/she can send you those pictures and you will send them back fully developed...
Just make sure to use an escrow, if you don't know your customer, because you want to receive the BTC in the end and you don't want to be scammed Smiley
Or, you can send small pictures with watermark on it, and only send the full size version when the BTC has arrived to your address...
It was just a quick example, but this is the way you can make money with the help of this forum.
70  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I won BTC from a "Giveaway". Got a link to this forum....help please on: August 15, 2019, 10:03:26 PM
It's always good to think before someone act...
If a stranger comes to me at the street to tell me that I have won a huge amount of money, I just need to follow him to somewhere, I would run away screaming like hell Smiley

The above mentioned is classic spam, don't fall for that...
Crypto world is really similar to the real world, the same rules apply for the crypto world in connection with security, so if you don't trust someone, and something is strange and suspicious, you won't find something better in the end just because you are in the crypto world... Scammers utilize that people are not used to be cautious in the crypto world, because it's not the common sense yet to be cautious here, because you don't hear such stories about crypto scams in the local pub or at work...
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet need this function - Payment Callback on: August 15, 2019, 09:47:15 PM
No this would do more harm than Good .
If people are able to call back payment anytime then the party getting paid will actually just stop receiving the payment in Bitcoins.
There are many flaws in this particular job , developers already would have involved it if it was reasonable enough.
You should understand this , if a payment is not successful it is already added in your wallet so this is good enough .
It would literally destroy any jobs related to bitcoins and people will start loosing trust.
Please please pretty please...
You are a senior member...
Please read back at least some posts on this page...
Those newbies and jr members who only read the title of the topic and don't read the posts here create similar posts like yours...
It's nothing about payment chargeback or  payment reversal or anything similar....
This payment callback is pretty different, please read a few posts back (at least 10) and you'll find it yourself...
So don't worry, no payment recall, no payment reversal, no chargeback.... this is just some programming stuff to have information about payments themselves...
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Traditional Payment Processors on: August 14, 2019, 09:02:55 PM
I believe and believe bitcoin will be able to compete and even defeat the traditional payment process that you said. we can see for yourself that there are currently more and more bitcoin hunters, it is not impossible that in the next few years bitcoin will master it.

That could happen if all countries decide to accept bitcoin and the other coins as the new payment system method so their people can make a transaction using cryptocurrency. So far, only a few countries which accepting bitcoin and another coin for another option of the transaction but soon, I believe that we will have more countries that will approve cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency itself still grow until now, and we are seeing many new people who will adopt cryptocurrency, and they will use cryptocurrency in their daily life.
Countries will think twice to let people use cryptocurrencies instead of fiat (government can influence the fiat system, but just can't influence bitcoin system, which is not acceptable for the governments....)
What governments can do is to rule the exchange between crypto and fiat. There won't be a magic moment, when most of the people in the world will enlighten in a second and will know bitcoin and will turn to bitcoin. There will be a long period when people will learn about bitcoin, will try it and in the end they will get accustomed to it...
But while this period lasts, people just don't have the chance to use bitcoin everywhere, they will have to exchange some bitcoin to fiat, to pay bills, taxes, etc...
And this is where governments can influence bitcoin (not the system, but the acceptance, the adoption of bitcoin). If they make it hard to exchange bitcoin to fiat (KYC, searching for the origin of the bitcoins and maybe force people to pay tax when they exchange bitcoin to fiat), so if they want, the governments can slow down the adoption, because it's not their interest to let people choose something else then fiat...
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Argentina proven BTC to be a store of value class asset? on: August 14, 2019, 08:34:53 PM
It's much more easy to store the value in something that's not tangible when there's a risk of robbery (I mean the bad guys just can't grab your Bitcoin on the street, if you don't take your hardware wallet with you).
If you can keep in secret that you have your money in bitcoin, and you store your bitcoin in different wallets, addresses, you possibly won't be robbed and still can use it, if you're cautious enough.
I hope that the bad guys there are not familiar with bitcoin enough yet...
74  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: pay on the web with bitcoin on: August 13, 2019, 09:28:42 PM
...
I'm surprised more people don't suggest BTCPay, which is pro-Bitcoin, is self-hosted and has lightning support.

[1] https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitpay-now-requires-your-photo-id-for-purchases-over-3k-in-bitcoin

The lightning support will be a must if OP wants to sell those cannabis seeds one by one Cheesy

But seriously, if someone wants to sell something inexpensive thing, like coffee, etc. lightning support for a BTC payment processor will be really useful because these sales are usually realized in very short time and people don't want to sit there for an hour to finalize a transaction on the main chain...
75  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to find actual educational crypto related videos? on: August 12, 2019, 09:00:28 PM
Check this topic:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2915976.0
I created a list of 10 TED Talks videos about bitcoin/blockchain

It's not done by me, but it lists a few blockchain/bitcoin related videos and they are fine.
After, you'll know what to search for, and how to move forward.
And also, read a lot, not only watch videos, sometimes you just waste your time on youtube, there's a load of sh.t there and you only realize when several minutes passed already...
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Becoming More Available? on: August 12, 2019, 08:49:35 PM
Bitcoin is more available, that's not a question now, you can buy/sell bitcoin nearly at every corner if you want to, the real question is:
Are there more people who search for bitcoin nowadays? Who need accessible bitcoin, who need bitcoin to be more and more available?
Or, after the FOMO in 2017 year end, people realized that they could buy bitcoin, but they won't buy it again (at least until the next FOMO Cheesy )?
Is there a real demand for bitcoin that made it to become more available or it just became more available and the demand will come sometime?

77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sats rather than Bitcoin - will it cause a price pump? on: August 09, 2019, 09:07:46 PM

...
Satoshi could well become the denomination of choice in the future, but at the moment, I think mBTC is the easiest to work with both visually and verbally.

This makes the most sense. I don't know why there are people arguing about this mBTC makes a lot of sense. 1000kb is 1mb 1000ml is 1 litre. Satoshi is best for fees like you said you your other post.

It is basically bit cents 100 cents is 1 btc. 1mbtc is 1/10 of a bit cent. Much easier that way. Otherwise you can use satoshi and say "I will spend 4 and a half bit cents cents today" "I will spend 1 cent and 350k satoshi" Or even "Today I will spend 3.35 bit cents. Below 1 bit cent you can use satoshi.
1024 kb is 1 mb (Sorry for nitpicking Cheesy )

On the other hand , I agree with you, mbtc is a possible solution. I'm fine with x Ksat and other similar things but the less zeroes before or after the decimal point makes a number the easiest to recognize, and as long as BTC will stay in the 10K USD range (I mean unless it will skyrocket to 100K USD or 1000K USD, but this is not a problem of today I guess Cheesy ) this mBTC seems a good solution for now.

I guess Dzoni isto busy to answer but since I live in Croatia, and often visit post offices, I can try to answer.
Generally, there is no limit to what services you can use in the post office, even if you are from abroad, so I'm sure that you can use their new service, crypto exchange, without any problem.

Thanks, that's clear now.

You don't buy or sell crypto from the people in the post office, but using app. created by Dzoni's company.
Dzoni will explain in more detail when he show up again here.
I was a bit misleading, sorry, I wanted to tell that you (the company created by Dzoni) only buy crypto, but you (the company) don't sell any crypto to the people there.

80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gov'ts and Institutions buying up Bitcoin on: August 08, 2019, 10:14:12 PM
Institutions have to have a clear investment policy, they usually don't invest themselves but use some kind of fund manager company to do the investments. They will just indicate what level of risk they would accept and the fund manager can do the rest.
This usually means that for e.g. pension funds or similar long term investment institutions usually can buy some high risked investments, but only very little percentage of their portfolio could be that risky. Shorter funds (who only invest on shorter period of time) usually can't risk to buy into highly volatile things, because they have only short time available to pay back the funds, so they have to find something that would go up or at least won't go down by the time they have to pay...
So I don't really trust this news...
