There's you answer then vlom. Dump Polo for Bitsquare.  Wink
But remember, ETC was decenterlised until the attacks started. Now the only wallet that work are the client side ones.

62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: poloniex and XDN: wallet disabled during pump on: October 17, 2016, 11:56:42 PM
Hi there

this is so strange. and i think it smells fishy.

XDN wallet Temporarily Disabled and there is so much volume. I have never seen such high xdn trainding volume on polo.

what do you think?

What do I think?  I asume you are in the US.

This is the problem with centralised exchanges. You are at the mercy of others that have their own agenda. XDN has encrypted messages. Maybe there are forces that dislike this approch. Brace yourself for more of this.

Think yourself lucky, Wiki Leaks have had their internet connection cut here in UK.  Also, RT TV have had their bank account frozen.

I wish they would just get on with the coronation of Hillary and be done with it.

If you use disruptive tech, be prepared to be censored.  Government will close your bank account and cut your internet connection unless you agree with the mainstream narrative.

When will we get decentralised anonymous exchanges to trade on? I try use shapeshift as best i can and change address often. Not the best solution but what are the other options? I am also a miner and fear i will have my power cut soon because i use more power than the average domestic user. Then I will only be able to by power from the expensive government backed suppers.

Anyhow, I sold some ETC yesterday on shapehift and got a better price than on Polo so it can be done.

hi

I have some ETH in my osx wallet version 0.7.2 untouched for long, and, been kept untouched even the hard-folk/ETC/ETH mess happened.

Today, I recall I have some of ETH in the wallet and executed.however, it's not sync to any nodes. AFAIK, I can not even sent to anywhere unless sync completed.

What is the best and easy way to get a free access to my ETH and hopefully ETC as a bonus???

Did some google but there are many old/uptodate info there makes me confuse.

Thanks!!  Smiley

I too have ETC stuck on a node address. I ran the new geth
https://github.com/ethereumproject/ECIPs/issues/17
https://github.com/ethereumproject/go-ethereum/releases
and I did the setting virtual memory/swap to 64GB
but still no sync after two days.
Buggy as hell, "system clock off by...." errors no mater what server i sync my clock to.

The only wallet i can get to work is https://classicetherwallet.com/ which i use for mining.

Thats just the way it is in the world of ethereum.  You have to use centralised wallets like https://classicetherwallet.com/

One thing is for sure, someone controls everything IMO

All you can hope for is the network improves and has less attacks.

Moreover, i would love to solo mine this coin but things like that are just a dream ATM.

It reminds me of when Muammar Gaddafi tried to start the Gold Dinar to replace the petrodollar and the Arab Nations, Russia and Iran aggreed to swap Oil for Gold instead of USD.  The world has not been the same since.  Think yourself lucky its only cyber attacks we are getting. We are being let off lightly when you look back at history when others have tried to start new currency/money.

What is going on etc ? I was mining in suprnova and now it is not working. Price is going down and volume is also very low. Will new Hardfork affect the price of ETC / ETH ? I am just a small mining guy. If i buy some eth/etc and will I get free coins just for stake those coin during fork ?

Network under attack
try mining to http://91pool.com they have 20% of the network and good up time
use a light wallet https://classicetherwallet.com/  until nodes are stable.

We need the small mining guy, good luck

Thank you for the heads up roselee.  I have been mining on a Chinese Pool (91) and have no complaints. They are very good, with no attacks and they pay on time too.

oh well it was fun while it lasted. onto the next shitcoin waves or lisk anyone?

Why should the fun end when there could be another chain up for grabs?

Anyone fancy mining ETC2?

interesting idea  Cheesy

Therefore, they are to continue ETC’s current chain as ETC Uncensored, splitting ETC’s currency and tiny community.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ETC_Uncensored/new/

There is still time to get a node up and running to solo mine.
As the masses leave the chain the difficulty will fall and you should start catching blocks once the hash rate is low enough.  The attacker will follow the hashrate to the new chain or face having to attcak 3 chains, ("new ETH", "ECT" and "Doa fork chain ECT2")
A very good way to combat the attacker? Ramp up their overheads?
Anyhow as soon as the exchanges see ETC2 they will list it and you can start selling your block and Uncle rewards.
Just go get the popcorn and a beer, sit back and watch the fun begin.

Anyone feeling a bit of Déjà vu?

ETH forking again. Will ETC forks? DDoS bugs in ETC now.
.... anyone playing with shitcoins only gets burned.

I do not agree. I have mined shitcoins for over 12 months and have shapeshift them all to Bitcoin.  I have made more BTC from Ethash, NeoScrypt, Groestl and CryptoNight algos than i would have gotten from SHA-256 per Kwh this year.
Also, i have not had to upgrade my hardware to do it.  I love shitcoins, they grow my BTC.
But it is like musical chairs, when the music stops, you best not be holding if you want a chair.
Be a wise miner, cash out daily Wink

Good! i am glad they are in a hurry. Maybe they will be like the Ethereum Foundation, move fast and break things.

I like Bitcoin, move slowly and get it right  Wink
70  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why would customers use Bitcoins? on: October 14, 2016, 12:06:34 PM
Bad money dries out first!

I love Bitcoin but if i pay someone, firstly i will try and pay in shitcoin, ethereum or Monero or something like that.  If they will not take shitcoin i will offer GBP. If they will not take GBP i will offer Euro, then USD. Eventually, i will offer Litecoin.  Finally and reluctantly, I offer Bitcoin but, i will only let go of my BTC if there is something in it for me.

I want to keep this growing asset.

I am a miner so I would love to pay for my electricity in BTC if i could. It pains me each quarter to draw down BTC for fiat, pay exchange fees, pay bank fees, pay a fee at the ATM and then queue in the Post Office to pay the Electric Company.

The Electric Company want me to submit my electric readings online and pay in GBP by direct debit via a bank account but i say no. They also want to send my bill to me in pdf format via email.
I say, no, no, no, no!

Why should i give my email, IP address and bank account number to a Electric Company with shit online security? So i get tones of emails i don't want or get my bank account hacked. Or they sell my info and claim they were hacked. I am happy to pay cash at the Post Office and send my meter readings by post (2nd Class). And as i pay in paper, i want a paper bill too. And...  i only pay when the red letter comes.

I tell them, I will submit my electric readings online and get my bill in pdf format via email when i can pay in Bitcoin or shitcoin, but not until.

Remember, bad money dries out first. These companies will not change unless we force their hand

@Longsnowsm any chance on some feedback on the Ledger Nano S Cryptocurrency hardware wallet with using it for ETC?
https://www.ledgerwallet.com/products/12-ledger-nano-s Has it arrived?

@greenuser Sorry I vanished for a while.  Been off playing with other coins and not paying much attention here as of late.  I did get the Nano, but I have to be honest I haven't yet had a chance to play with it.  I was off on some other foolish errands! LOL  I will get a chance to take a look at it in a couple of weeks.  I will be off grid for a bit, but will check back in once I get back and give you that review on the wallet.

Here is a review that Lee posted that should give you an idea of how it works.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RccX3bUpSkI

Don't worry. Me too.  Don't you just love Burst?  I have not posted for over two weeks on this thread.  I have been getting into the US elections too.  It's brilliant entertainment, i love it, the best so far, much better than 2000 when Al Gore beat Bush by a handful of votes!  They went with Bush anyway because he was more pro war. If we get Hillary we can go to war with Iran and Russia. The British Pound needs it. Also, world population neeeds thining out.

Anyway, ledgerwallet yes. They do a Litecoin version for LTC 5th Birthday look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvqulRoIYjA

I do love litecoin, well nearly as much as I love bitcoin. I want a litecoin one.  Cheesy

I was taking the Chandler Guo approach and waking up early each morning and looking which chain was most profitable to mine and pointing my miner where the best money is.  Also I have been cashing out daily to bitcoin so I hold no more than a days mining worth of either ETC or ETH.  You never know when you will not be able to access your wallet and solo just takes up too much memory. It is getting harder to make coin. I hope Burst goes to the moon, so little running costs.

We need a new GPU and a new CPU coin to mine now the Ethereums, Monero and Groestlcoin are looking sad. We need some Devs that want to be rich and famous to make us a new coin to mine.
Any of you lot planning to mine the chain the Ethereum Foundation are currenty planning to abandon?  If enough of us mine it, Poloniex will list it. I believe the attacker will be at a bit of a stretch to attack all three chains. Also, if ETC do a fork that could be another good money spinner, why not make it 4?  I will vote to fork ETC.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC Criminal Coin under persistent and sustained DDOS attack. on: October 13, 2016, 11:01:26 PM
You have to remember the attacker is spending good money attacking these eth chains.  So they "pay-to-play".  They are free to spend their cash as they choose.

Every time EF fork ETH a new coin is made.  Soon the attacker will be fighting on three fronts so they will have to work harder and spend more money doing sustained DDOS attacks on three coins.
ETH holders will have a another new (or should i say another old?) coin to exchange for bitcoin (or ETH if they are that way inclined).
Plus, GPU miners will have a another chain to mine for some fast profit too if they get in early.  So win-win for everyone but the attacker.  Lets hope for a 10% / 90%  split again and a couple of easy and exciting months of mining a rogue chan like with ETC.  Cheesy
I love Ethereum.  The way they get everyone fired up is fantastic. Nearly as good as the US elections (which we are enjoying greatly).
The best Altcoin by far for both entertainment and mining profit.  I could be said, it is the best thing to have helped boost bitcoin so far this year.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH is sick again on: October 13, 2016, 10:16:28 PM
There is bad news for ETH lovers and my thread is suitable with a title ETH is sick again  Grin here we go, https://cointelegraph.com/news/vitalik-buterin-confirms-another-ethereum-hard-fork-with-geth-failing-to-prevent-dos-attacks
Come on guys, Let's discussion about it. Thanks

Lets hope they give the option to run with the flag...

Code:
--oppose-prevent-dos-attack-fork

I am looking forward to mining the resulting minority chain  Cheesy

The attacker will be busy working on the new chain so the resulting minority chain should be clean from attacks and a good earner for both ETH holders and those that are early to mine the old chain.
I love the way Ethereum Foundation have invented this way to launch these new coins without doing an ICO. Get ready for ECT2!
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Hey CPU miners! Big pools are pushing you out of the game! on: September 28, 2016, 11:06:16 AM
CPU miners.

How often do you see "accepted: 421/421 (100.00%), 34.38 H/s at diff xxx (yay!!!)" in your miner's log when mining with big pool ? Almost NEVER. You are mining for nothing, I will tell you why.

All majors pools set a very high minimal diff on their mining port (25000 on moneropool.com, crypto-pool.fr). This diff is YOUR local difficulty to mine. With a targeted 60s block time and a couple of CPU you have almost NO chance to find and submit a single share in 60 sec at a 25000 diff.

You are just mining for nothing (look a your miner's log).

Why the hell are they doing that ? They prefer to work with GPU or rig owners in order to decrease traffic and load to the pool (aka their own out of pocket money).

At xmr-pool.com we have a low start difficulty of 500 even auto adjusted lower if you come with a poor CPU.

We have a hudge 2.5Gps unmetered bandwidth and a 8 cores dedicated server. So we do not target a specific difficulty, we prefer targeting a time window. WE ACCEPT A SHARE FROM YOU EACH 5 SECONDS wathever is your hashrate. xmr-pool.com adjusts your local diff according to your hashing power in order to meet the 5 sec target.

On top of that xmr-pool.com is 100% FREE. No pool fee for the next 12 months!

Point your miner to mine.xmr-pool.com on port 443 now and watch your shares being accepted

Nice Pool.  It solved the disconnect problem i get with larger pools.  You just need a block now.  I can't see why the bigger pools cant have at least one port for low diff CPU miners.
I'm mining the ETC Chain with my GPUs but i like my rig to run a CPU coin as well. I was mining Groestlcoin and ETC and Burst all on one machine and was thinking of switching my CPU to Monero.  But this low diff is a problem.

If it is today, holding the right crypto will matter.
What about coins like Ripple and Ethereum that are backed by bankers?

Many have tryed to predict the day the dollar is said to fall from grace, holding ETC would be a good move IMO ATM

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about DOGE? on: September 27, 2016, 02:52:13 AM
What do I think about DOGE? I like it because it has a dog on it. The British are big animal lovers. I would support a coin with a cat on if there was one because i prefer cats over dogs. But as long as the coin is not teamed up with the banking sector and as long as it can be mined... it's good by me.

I wonder if it is Mr Doge's dog?  Anyway, he knew people would buy it because of the dog, that's why he put it on the logo. Smart move. Roll on "CATE COIN" meow  Wink

But there isn't a "dog on it" it's a digital currency token.. AKA: no physical item.. just bits & bytes.

Maybe they are dog bytes?

Yes and they are on evey new multi curreny wallet that comes out. Why would a new multi curreny wallet want a dead coin on it?
I love litecoin. So much quicker than bitcoin.

Look at the 3rd party wallet support of late.

79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi currency wallet? on: September 26, 2016, 10:20:01 PM
Multiple wallets = security.

True! I never have more than one bitcoin in a wallet at once i must admit. If i have 10 Btc i keep them in 10 separate portable wallets on 10 different USB sticks and then encrypt each USB stick. But the weakest link is the human not the tech.

Backup you keys and make paper wallets. Store a copy at a different geographical location from the originals to protect against: fire, acts of god, flood, war, terror, electro magnetic pulse bombs, meteor storms or ice ages.  But keep some cash and some nice gold too as the ATMs may not work due to power outages and you will need to by food and water in the early stages after a disaster.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So where's the ethereum exodus? on: September 26, 2016, 10:06:35 PM
So where's the ethereum exodus? I don't think there will be one. People are enjoying themselves far too much. The only thing a trader fears is stability. Let's hope its like this all the way to casper.
We don't want the forums and exchanges go to quiet and there only be one coin never moving from the top do we? That would be like having only one fiat currency. It would finish fintech and forex. I would have to go back to betting on horses and dogs or playing the lotto.

Also, Polonix and Bittrex could not survive.
