61  Economy / Trading Discussion / It is that time of the month again (buy the dips) on: November 30, 2017, 08:46:38 AM
just like all the times before when i made a similar topic, now it is all the same again.

Buy The Dips

there isn't much FUD around this time, but the dips are happening all the same. don't be left out.

and just like always, invest what you can afford to lose.

63  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: anonymosity of bitcoin on: November 28, 2017, 02:01:28 PM
We all know that most of the illegal transactions take place through bitcoins as it cannot be tracked.
No, we don't know that. maybe you get your stats from somewhere that we are not aware of. in which case share your source for this statement.

But I read in some websites that many intelligence agencies have started to find a method and have had significant progress.
many have been doing that for years. there are even companies for "blockchain analysis" out there that will do it for a fee. there is one that also has a free limited service out there called walletexplorer.com
nothing about their techniques has changed though. it is the same as before.

Is it true?would our trading be at risk as many of us earn a lot and don't pay any tax to the government.
none of these things have anything to do with this question!
if you don't pay your taxes on trading that you do non-anonymously on exchanges, you are performing some illegal activity called "tax evasion" and you are at risk. they don't need any "intelligence agencies" or blockchain analysis or any progress to find you either! you are already giving them your information when you trade on exchanges!
64  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Altcoin on: November 28, 2017, 01:35:20 PM
bitcoin is always going to be the best thing you can hope for in a long term investment and altcoin can be the best for short term investment. other than that altcoins are not good for long term because they don't have the adoption like bitcoin has which means their rises are pure pump based on speculation and fear of missing out. these rises can not last on their own.

besides you are in trading discussion board so it is about trading and making profit from that. in trading altcoins you only buy those that are about to go up. if you look at the history of altcoins you can see that period only lasts a very short amount of time. hence good short term investments.
in comparison bitcoin rises in short term, has some correction then starts rising again short after. hence good long term and short term investment.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what have you got from bitcoin? on: November 28, 2017, 01:19:54 PM
- financial freedom! that nobody can tell me when and how i use my own money and then ask for their cut (aka tax) because i used my money
- privacy
- anonymity
- low fees (not nowadays but in past years that i have used bitcoin)
- no charge-back when i sell anything online
- micro payments
- lots of ways to earn money and do different jobs online, from trading to freelancing and micro jobs
- and of course lots of money because bitcoin is also an investment
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What are your biggest concerns regarding Cryptocurrencies? on: November 28, 2017, 06:31:14 AM
my biggest concern is "people forgetting what cryptocurrencies are supposed to be"!

and sadly that is what i see happening these days. they are no longer created to be a "currency" or a "payment system", instead they are created to be a speculation tool for traders to make money. people are even calling altcoin market as "penny stocks"!

in fact i say this issue is more serious than the 3 you mentioned. specially the scaling one. since none of these altcoins are being used for anything other than people sending coins to and from exchanges, scaling is meaningless for them. their blocks are too small, the top ones handle less than 1/10 of bitcoin daily transactions! and the rest are not even used.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin gold address on: November 28, 2017, 06:03:50 AM
How can I check my Bitcoin gold balance and how can I find the address which contains my free coins?
( I don't want to import the private key into a wallet and just I want to check my balance)

use this bitcoin gold block explorer: https://btgexplorer.com
i just checked with my bitcoin address and it works. you just paste your bitcoin address in its search bar and it automatically converts your BTG address to BTG address and also shows you your balance.

What is the difference between bitcoin cash and Bitcoin gold which causes Bitcoin cash address is same as Bitcoin address, but Bitcoin gold address is different from that?

one of the issues that these kinds of fork cause is that people send coins to wrong addresses. for example sending BTC to BCH address or vice versa. that causes a lot of headache for recovering your funds. you may even lose it if the address belonged to a service like a gambling site for example. they won't credit you back.

so they change the format so that BTG address is invalid in BTC and BTC is invalid in BTG. it is just the address format though, nothing changed about private keys.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I trade my Bitcoin Cash/Gold for Bitcoin/Altcoins? on: November 28, 2017, 05:45:12 AM
But those people who sold their bitcoin cash when they first got it would have sold it for at least 250 at the minimum with most sellers selling it at 300 or more.

WRONG!
people who sold their bitcoin cash when they first got it, would have sold it for $550-$400 and those who sold it late would have sold it at $200.
then the price was pumped to $800-$900 and those who sold on top and bought back at $200 made a 4x profit.
then price fell down to $300 again before pumping to $2000 and those sold on top and bought back again would have made 6.6x profit.

that is how you succeed in this market not by holding on to random altcoins for your dear life and never letting go!

Quote
The altcoins that i want to buy are ...

the same is true about all these altcoins. you sell on top and buy back at the bottom not just buy randomly whenever you like and then hope it goes up some day.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Diamond .... is it a scam? on: November 28, 2017, 05:35:07 AM
any idea if any top 5 exchange will start to adopt BCD?

can't say anything at this point. the big exchanges only list these things if they have a high volume and it is worth the effort. because they have to run their wallet and it is a tough thing to do specially since they need a full node for security reasons and full node requires at least 150 GB space of their servers. each fork like this takes up that much they will be left with no server space!

been a hell of a year end fork. 2018, more forks incoming?

most probably yes. 2018 will be a disastrous year full of scams and filled with infected people who lose bitcoin because they got greedy to claim some fork coin.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the airdrops were not big until 2017 on: November 28, 2017, 04:58:52 AM
giving shittokens has always been one of the very common ways of attracting attention. they always did "giveaways" of their useless tokens. that is now evolved into a process with a name and they call it "airdrop". in fact it is a distribution method of these tokens and a way for the developer to hide the fact that he is owning a very large amount of said token and will dump it on the market to get rich for doing nothing.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin Diamond? on: November 28, 2017, 04:41:43 AM
another useless altcoin they created by using bitcoin's source code and its blockchain. in other words they forked from bitcoin.
and so far it seems more like a scam rather than a real thing. they haven't even made any source code for it. http://www.btcd.io/index.html the link at the bottom of the page to Github is empty!

there is no wallet, no actual change apart from increasing the cap from 21 million to 210 million. and people have been dumping it even since they got their "Future" tokens in some exchanges!!! https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin-diamond/
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO's are finally coming to an end! on: November 26, 2017, 10:08:47 AM
nah, it is a start but it doesn't seem to me like an end.

it has always been like this though. for example back in the days when people were creating new coins with a lot of premine, everyone said they are scams, don't invest in them,... but nobody listened. the first ones went to the moon and many made a lot of money... but after a while, scams happened, people started losing money and nobody trusted them anymore. so they disappeared.

but now that a long time has passed, there are some premiend coins that aren't so bad anymore.
we will see same thing with ICOs too. there are a lot of them, many will disappear. in the future there will be some good ones after the end came.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do airdrops distribute coins effectively? on: November 26, 2017, 09:52:01 AM
in my opinion mining is the only good way of distributing coins. something like the model that bitcoin is using is a proper way of doing it without creating inflation, killing the coin because of bigger supply than demand, and lots of other factors.

airdrops are not bad by nature either. i prefer the mining that i said here, but i can see airdrops can also be a nice way of distributing but to this day i have not seen a 100% fair distribution because there will always be the question of "how to distribute"? they use bitcointalk rank, bitcoin balance,... and things like that but while it may seem fair but it doesn't really feel fair. someone who owns 1000BTC will gain a lot more than someone who has 1BTC. in other words rich gets richer.
and ICOs are just getting some large amount of money all of a sudden!
with mining you have to work for it.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Problem with claiming BCH with Electron Cash on: November 26, 2017, 09:40:58 AM
this is really strange.

the only other thing that i can think of is that you may have to leave Electron Cash open for a while so that it can download the Blockchain_header files.
i have had this issue too. i was on a slow internet and that file is about 40 MB big. and while it is being downloaded for the first time, your Electron cash will show your balance as 0.

if you can, monitor your network traffic and see if it is downloading it or not. let it finish up and after a couple of minutes you must see your balance.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Problem with claiming BCH with Electron Cash on: November 26, 2017, 09:18:51 AM
maybe it is because you don't really own any bitcoin cash in the keys you are trying to import in the Bitcoin Cash wallet.
go to a bitcoin cash block explorer such as this one: https://bitcoincash.blockexplorer.com/ and search for your "bitcoin address" that you were trying to import in the Electron Cash wallet. that will bring up a page with all your transaction history. check out your balance and if it was really 0 then see which transaction you made that caused it to go to 0. maybe you spend your bitcoins before August 1 or maybe you acquired your bitcoin AFTER the fork!
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC: $10K, $20K, $50K, $100K - when ? on: November 26, 2017, 09:15:33 AM
My personal predictions are :
$10K = around New Year 2018
$20K = around New Year 2019
$50K = sometime in 2020
$100K = around 2023-2025

your prediction is like this:
end of 2017 = 9-10x rise
end of 2018 = 2x rise
end of 2019 = 2.5x rise
end of 2025 (6 years) = 2x or 0.33x per year!

so what is up with that? can you explain a little about how you cam up with this kind of very uneven and wild swingy-rise for the coming years? because that is not natural. there is always some kind of exponential rise where it slows down but not like this to be wild then suddenly drop a lot then cease to rise for years (in 2021-2025)
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's Deference between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Diamond? on: November 26, 2017, 08:50:01 AM
Wow i did hear on one thread that there was to be another
fork but i didnt think it was to happen so quick, as above
lack of marketing.

While all the new features are good its hard to see it competing
with bitcoin or even bitcoin cash. Its just a pity these features
couldnt be added to bitcoin as smoothly as cash and diamond
has added them

there will soon be more of these kind of fork in my opinion. there are lots of lazy idiots out there who think this is the way to make money so they will soon start forking bitcoin over and over. but i don't think it will be as sever as the altcoin copycats that start an altcoin from scratch despite copying all the code from something else.
forking bitcoin like this is still a lot of work. and hopefully we will see an end to these copycats too.
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best HODL of 2018 POLL on: November 26, 2017, 08:37:57 AM
is this a joke poll or what?
when you are talking about holding long term some cryptocurrency the only good option is bitcoin and when you have that in your poll you can not vote for anything else!

if you would have asked it among altcoins between themselves and not have bitcoin in the mix, then there may have been some easier way to choose. although altcoins are not known to be good long term investment to "hodl" at all.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it recommendabe to invest Bitcoin Red (BTCRED)?? on: November 24, 2017, 09:38:14 AM
bitcoin red had some pump for a short term but it is not really a good idea to invest in projects like these for anything more than during their ongoing pumps. and making sure to dump them very fast because their pumping cycles never last long despite being big.
and at some point the market will reject all these "bitcoin clones" that are using the name of bitcoin only and introduce some useless shitcoin to the community. these coins live purely based on hype, take that away from them and they are nothing.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins will rise in some hours after Fork? BCD FORK on: November 24, 2017, 08:49:11 AM
short answer is: NO.

first of all last time the fork was canceled you are saying this time a fork is happening. how can you think these two are the same Cheesy

secondly last time it was a big incident. SegWit2x was a hard fork that many were expecting, it was related to the scaling debate. and it had a huge miners support. when it got canceled the bitcoin cash team started their FUD machine to pump BCH and it caused a lot of issues for bitcoin including the big drop.
compared to that, nobody even knew about bitcoin diamond fork until today that multiple topics have been created all over the forum!!! this means nobody even cares about it, whether it happens or not, nothing will change with neither bitcoin nor altcoins.

and finally my prediction of BCD is that it will be less than 0.001BTC and probably will drop down to 0.00001BTC (1000 satoshi) and less in the first week, because as i said nobody knows or cares about this one and when they find out they will start dumping it fast.
