61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Naturally Chase loses in gambling.. on: May 17, 2024, 02:30:29 AM
Hi everyone,
Here actually is my finding on why people chase loses in gambling, do you know that it's natural for a gambler to chase after his or her loses? Well, if you don't know, now you know, it is natural in the sense that ; the desire is inbuilt, it is we ourselves that learn to put or subject the desire to our control, same way it is natural to feel bad when you lose a bet, but you can be happy if you choose to, and can control your emotion.

One of the reason why many gamblers naturally chase after their lose is due to one thing that is built into every game known as the "near miss effect", after every loss, a near miss effect makes our brain believe that a win is very close, and this automatically makes the player to keep playing and playing, even while he or she is losing, his or her brain convinces itself that a jackpot is just around the corner, this makes the player keep playing until he or she discovers that his or her bankroll is empty, this is when anger and regret usually sets in, you begin to feel like you were not really yourself all that time you were gambling, like you were hypnotized or something, and you only regained consciousness of yourself when you have already gambled all your money away.

This has happened to me few times, and from it, I've leant to always be conscious of myself and my decisions while gambling, making sure I do not allow my brain to deceive me into believing that my losses is because a win is around the corner, making me to gamble way more than I've planned to.

So, from your own understanding, what do you think makes people chase loses aside greed which I believe many of us are already familier with?.

As you've said, It is a natural act from a gambler and ideally they want to gain back all the money thay they have lose. I mean, who wouldn't want to try to recover from their losses? everyone's already did it especially if they can't accept the fact that they already used up all the funds that they only have. We can say that greed is the major reason why people continue doing gambling because there's an instances that a person already won but because of greed, instead of gaining additional money, they ended up having zero in their pockets, So it is highly advisable to check ourself and learn how to stop when we already won.
62  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Casino Community Service Possible? on: May 17, 2024, 01:38:05 AM
This depends mostly on the owner mindset and most owners of reputable casinos do not care much for community service from what I have seen up until now. They only like to fatten their pockets and fortune and as long as they achieve it they are OK with such achievement.I know that if these types of such casinos get to bring something else beside taxes to the government to the community as they surely can afford to do it,would be great for that community.
You are correct, and most of the owner aren't charitable if they do they could had mostly provide that, although we can't give full analysis on some of them that does it because if they does without it being publicly announced or a kind of content to that is created to carry the news you won't, for example I mostly found that is most of the reputable exchange such as binance but I hardly seen it on gambling site except for the second poster outlined already.

Somehow that's true, especially here in our country, the famous land based casinos are not really charitable but not sure because maybe later there are people who support and help them but they don't just broadcast it on the news or any media sites, but when it comes to their employees, they are gallant and even offer scholarship programs for employees, can we consider that as part of their charity works?
63  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your slices Luck that would have made you millionaire in gambling? on: May 16, 2024, 11:18:16 AM
I've come across this several times but most times I feel maybe I've enemies, fighting me not to survive in life but i noticed that it's a game of luck. First one day I predict a game earlier this week the odds were perfect for it to enter. My games were going so well i stake $1000 then total refunds it was about $10,000 i kept on praying in my mind, it was just one game for me remaining then all of a sudden i fell asleep on the process. While I wake up to check my game the last game ended me up with a cry 😭, i took the risk cause a friend of mine took the same risk now he his a millionaire because of one slice luck made him who he his today. And what I understand is that if you really want to be a millionaire through gambling, you only have to increase in your amount that you stake the higher the amount the richer you can in a minutes. I don't know for yours, what's yours?

It's a shame that what you earned went to nothing, because we can't apply to ourselves what other people have experienced because we have our own path that we follow just like you experienced, your friend is destined to become a millionaire because of gambling then when you tried to imitate it, you were given a chance because of course you hoped that you would earn more money, because of greed, you lost what you earned.
I believe in our own luck so when we experience it, I hope we handle it well
64  Economy / Economics / Re: Insurance is important on: May 16, 2024, 10:50:37 AM
Insurance is very important for us and our family. Life is full of uncertainty, risks are everywhere. For example, regarding health. Yes, we have to take care of our health, but we also need to prepare additional protection, in the form of health insurance. Therefore, having insurance is not only to protect our interests but also to protect the family we love.
Yes, insurance is very important for us and our family. Especially we should all insure for the future. Generally by insurance we mean contract. Legally the contract between two parties is called insurance. There are different types of insurance such as;

1. Life insurance
2. Home insurance
3. Vehicle insurance
4. Life Insurance
5. Fire Insurance
6. Travel insurance
7. Health insurance

Life insurance provides financial security.
Moreover, for underprivileged families, they really need insurance so that if something happens to them, it can be handled well, especially health insurance which can help poor families when they seek treatment.

I agree with your but how come they can have an insurance if they dont have even a little savings on their own? as much as they want, they couldn't because their income is only enought for their daily expenses, having an insurance is only eligible for those who afford to pay the monthly fee but for some people, it's a big struggle for them. let's be real here, insurance should included in our monthly expenses or basic necessity but we can't add it up because some of us considered it as a burden expenses.
65  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying Vs Renting a Home- Which is the right move? on: May 16, 2024, 10:37:45 AM
I think everything is connected. In my country, you can buy a house, but where my husband's brother lives, you can only rent a house with this money. Which would I prefer, or most people? Naturally, if you have a good financial cushion, owning your own home is always smarter. You belong to yourself. In your home, you are the master, and no one can tell you any rules, which cannot be said about rented housing. I think this amounts to a business working for the owner, which is different from working for the boss.

For me, I'd rather buy my own house in the most possible ways because there's a lot of offers so you can have your own house just like housing loan or even the government housing fund, but it depends on your financial capacity because there's a requirements before you approve on your requested housing loan, some people cannot afford to fullfil the downpayment that's why they enduring renting because that's what they only afford but who doesn't want to have their own house? Nothing. right?
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ? on: May 15, 2024, 07:49:35 PM
Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ?  What was the final result, did they thank you later for this ?

I tried to tell a few details but I can't say that I was the one who influenced them to invest in bitcoin because at that time I really had no interest in teaching because my knowledge was not that wide when it comes to investing, one more thing My patience is short and I don't really want to teach because the topic of investment is too broad, but so far the people I know that I have talked to have invested well in bitcoin and until now they are still doing it.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I returned my father's property to my father through Bitcoin investment. on: May 15, 2024, 12:08:53 PM
My father had two ponds basically my father had to tender these two ponds to marry my elder sister. About four thousand dollars are available by tendering these two ponds. However, my father is mainly involved in agricultural work and when he keeps two tenders in this pond, he suffers a lot. I used to think in my heart that I wish I could help my father but unfortunately I was a student and I didn't have the means to help my father at that time.

A friend of mine was involved in bitcoin and he knew enough about my family to tell me friend if you invest in bitcoin you can help your father. Sister's wedding cost father about 2000 thousand dollars and I invested the remaining two thousand dollars with my father's permission in September 2023. But really my luck is very good I bought bitcoin when it was 30K. Then when the bitcoin market reaches 70K I sell the bitcoins. But today I am so happy that I can give back the two ponds from which we earn our living to my father only for bitcoins.  Bitcoin really changes people's fortunes it happened with my life.

Definitely for Bitcoin newbies investing in Bitcoin at the right time can definitely change your fortune overnight.

Hey congrats! you're so lucky because by the help of your friend,  you've acquired huge money by investing in bitcoin. For sure, your father is very happy on your achievements however, Investing in bitcoin cannot change everyone's fortune overnight, It really requires skills and knowledge by doing it, it's just that, luck is really on your favor right now. There's nothing wrong in sharing your achievements because that's what makes you happy, but kindly refrain saying that "This can help someone to become rich once you invest your money in bitcoin" because it is not, there's no easy money, all of it requires hardwork.
68  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do casinos require users to verify their identity through a KYC policy? on: May 15, 2024, 11:33:12 AM
Because with the KYC policy it can see the identity of the user, where else to verify other than KYC other than that is impossible, right?

This is one of their tools when there is a suspected account by providing documents to verify it, besides that it is also a government policy, the casino will comply with what has become the rule.

Similarly, exchanges are now almost obliged to implement KYC, even when their accounts are suspected, they will ask for a higher level of KYC and prove everything.
I'm just wondering why many of us don't seem to be in favor of complying with KYC? I mean, I understand that some of us wants to remain anonymous but That would be better to avoid cheating incidents. besides, that is for the verification process and for sure it is legit even if we pass legal documents because that is one of the rules of a casino as well as the government, so why are there so many people who don't want it? I read before that submitting the document for KYC is a hassle for them, but isn't that better, especially if you win a lot in a gambling session, you won't have any trouble withdrawing the money you won because the account you used is already verified.
69  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale strategy is a failure if you are consistent with it on: May 15, 2024, 11:10:05 AM
I love roulettes because it is very easy to play and I see it relaxing. I bet with $3.5 yesterday using martingale strategy as I want to see what the outcome would be, I was able to win $6. $6 to $9 but it will go down to $3 until I won $10.  From $10 back to $6 until I won $13. Later I won $18. I played 5 consecutive times without winning at all and I lost the whole money. If won any among the 5 times selection, I would have increased it to back $18 or to $25. It was a boring day for me, I enjoyed the game, I wish to play more but I do not want to lose more money.

we can apply the martingale strategy if we have enough money or funds that can sustain our gambling session on that day, because doing this strategy we need a sufficient amount but if we feel that martingale doesn't work for us anymore, much better if we should stop and change our strategy because we will only run out of money if we always lose and every time we lose, we double our bet because of the idea that maybe once we win, it is possible for us to gain a lot of money in return.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Be careful with people's money on: May 15, 2024, 10:51:08 AM
I have read many news that someone will mismanage people's money. I read one about a university student some years ago that gambled with the money contributed by his course mates. The main reason that is causing the money mismanagement is either trading or gambling, but I read more about gambling online. Some can be because of other reasons.

There is another one that I read today that people thought he ran away with people's money but he later confessed that he lost it to gambling. It is about a solana-based cypher developer, he confesses that he lost $300K of user funds to gambling.

The core developer of the Solana-based cross-margin decentralized exchange (DEX) admitted his wrongdoing in a public statement shared in a May 14 X post:

“To address the elephant in the room, the allegations are true, I took the funds and gambled them away. I didn’t run away with it, nor did anyone else.”

His statement in X:
https://x.com/hoakbuilds/status/1790434490877129007
https://docs.google.com/document/d/10ta9quGGrmTNE1Pi7MlgLgSx9zxEqQdkbBfis1pmHrM/mobilebasic

this is one of the reasons why many people now lose trust in other people when it comes to managing their money. As you can see, because of such incidents, it is difficult for someone to interact with other people, especially if it is connected to money matters. even I experienced something like that but the person who handled our contribution used the money to buy his luxuries and then lied that he was robbed but the truth is that he spent it on his own will. I hope for people who are trusted by friends or acquaintances, I hope we will be honest and then be good at managing because it is not easy to earn money so I hope it will be handled well.
71  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: May 15, 2024, 02:47:41 AM
New gamblers often try gambling by their emotion. They consider gambling as a special scheme of money income at the beginning of gambling. They think that placing a bet there will increase their chances of winning. But when the results are different they get worried about it. At some point, they try to blame others for the fear that their assumptions and skills may be questioned due to repeated losses, thereby calling out their incompetence. Although he thinks it is wrong, he does not try to understand it. However, such behavior is not seen in those who have been in gambling for a long time. There may be some gamblers who naturally try to hide their own faults by blaming others.
This is not peculiar to new gamblers because even old gamblers still get their emotions activated during gambling. I think it is a normal thing because gambling is sustained by hope which is undoubtedly emotion. The only thing different is that older gamblers have learnt to manage these emotions properly to be able to avoid the temptation of taking irresponsible risk.

Regarding the subject of discussion, gambling have age limit attached to it and anyone who have hit that age is expected to be able to make his/her own decision and also take responsibility for the result of such decision. So I do not think it is morally and legally right for any gambler to blame losses on another person irrespective of what transpired.
Exactly, a gambler should be held responsible for his actions because it is his funds that he is using to gamble and not someone else's own. I think this is why the gamble age in most countries is 18+, because at that age, everyone is responsible for his actions. Gamblers that put the blame on other people will not always learn from their mistakes because they will always put it on someone, in order to make them feel it wasn't their fault.

That's what gamblers are missing today, their accountability for their own actions, especially when they are suffering from gambling addiction, they will find a way to find someone to blame when the destiny is not in their favor to win or any other good benefits. that they can get from gambling. For me, if you're a sane person and you know what you're doing, you'll never blame others because of your own mistakes and negligence, so if that ever happens, I'll think you're too addicted to gambling so you can think of that.
72  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streaming community are getting worst!!! on: May 15, 2024, 02:27:35 AM

We as the audience needs to be wise when we watch any videos from the influencers and make sure that the video we watch is not gives a bad effect to us.

It is very true, when we see influencers , sometimes they can show us many fantasies, and some people who have tried to imitate them end up very Badly , here with Influencers, casinos, casino gamblers, this is very delicate and I go out It Cannot lead to Any type of madness, because an influencer can have so much voice in the masses that he can achieve whatever he wants, and it is because of the emotions he makes people Feel, this is nothing new, they are Able to put to anyone on a platform, and do what they say, that is the power of an influencer, but this is legal until the Moment they Decide to be honest, and then if they sell themselves to Any oasis, they are a scam project , I think that even there goes its success.

That's really the role of an influencer, they should be able to encourage people to do what they are doing, it's just that sometimes what they promote or show to the audience is not good, when it comes to influencers, I believe that they should only teach and show people a positive influence, not that they will encourage in a bad way but they will make it look good using their communication and advertising skills. They can really attract a lot of people because they are already known and the channel they use on social media is already wide.
73  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this true or some superstitious believe about gambling? on: May 15, 2024, 02:15:54 AM
I'll go with logic and maths when deciding probable wins or losses but people have a ton of beliefs about what works for them.   Some of it is real for that person in getting them in the right mood or mindset, I dont argue with people what makes them right on the day and happy within their gamble to operate best on the day.   Some of it is the attitude towards gambling, there is no certainty and if you have the good belief that you cannot always win that is probably for the best in controlling your ego and hubris; whatever works for you!

well you have a point on that, mate. We have our different beliefs when it comes to gambling winning so we should just focus on our own strategies and logic when it comes to winning the game in gambling, as long as you can manage yourself then go, do what you want to do and let others do what they want too. know that whatever works on us will probably not works to other people.
74  Economy / Economics / Re: Oil producing countries experiencing hardship. on: May 14, 2024, 08:12:20 PM
I don't see middle East countries are facing any hardships as you mentioned they're the biggest producers of crude oil whereas Russia is also have huge resources but they're facing sanctions which makes it difficult for them to trade their natural resources and make money out of it.

that's true, in fact they became more wealthy especially nowadays that the price of oil is in hike and knowing them as the biggest producers of oil, It is also possible for them to be in danger because there are days when someone sends a warning or threat to them from another country using bombs or missiles, but because the security of the middle east is strict and alert, they are able to prevent it before it hits their country.
75  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Scam phone call scheme on: May 14, 2024, 07:55:46 PM
Kung dati is okay lang maka recieved ng tawag from unknown kasi madalas online parcel, o di kaya naman ay mga job inquiry ngayon naman is nakaka duda na sumagot ng calls kasi nga dahil sa mga scams na ito, hindi kaya yung information talaga natin is na benta na or leak somewhere kasi napaka rami nilang oras para gawin ung mga ito at another thing is may alam silang background satin lalo na pag gagawa tayo ng mga transaction na notify agad sila. Always stay vigilant guys pag tingin nyo suspicious agad out nyo na wag mag papadala agad.

Same here!

Biruin mo millions agad in just 11 weeks which is super nakakaduda talaga.

77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: May 14, 2024, 11:24:26 AM
If suddenly you went on a binge-gambling out of a lack of self-control or something else. For example, you deposit money in rapid succession after a series of losses and the casino management freezes your account. And when you call their customer support, they tell you that your account has been frozen for 3 weeks and the reason why they carried out that measure was because they suspected that you were gambling irresponsibly and decided to take that measure so that you can call yourself back to order, will you feel furious, cuss out, sign out of your account and register on another casino and continue betting. Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling or betting addiction?

I don't think that the customer support is entitled to do that.In fact in most reputable casino they give you the option to click for freezing your account for a certain amount of time until you fix the way you are thinking and you don't deposit anymore,I have never heard of some customer relations support representative blocking or freezing an account just because they deposit in succession, maybe if you withdraw in succession as they can become doubtful of how come someone is winning so often and to check thoroughly and audit your games.Even so if you exclude yourself for 3 weeks or a month, you can stay 1-2 days without playing and then you go and register in another casino once you release it was a bad move and as such self exclusion solves pretty much 0 things regarding gambling addiction.
Agree with you, I also wouldn't believe that casinos do all that, they are in business and they always want to keep gamblers depositing money and betting, in fact every casino will offer various attractive offers to attract gamblers to deposit more money.
No casino will freeze gambler account when they make many deposits in row, after all they do not have any rights over this unless the account is suspected of cheating or making mistake by violating existing provisions.
Hahaha, this is quite ridiculous because if this is done then the casinos will indirectly prevent the gambling sites they run from making profit.

Only ones who can stop it all are the gamblers themselves, whether they spend lot of money and deposit large amounts of money in row will never make the casino care about being responsible for the gamblers.
Moreover it true that gambler will not really be able to restrain his own desire to play and bet, they will do anything to fulfill all these desires so there will be no point in doing all that.

I agree with you, casino have no rights to freeze someone's account unless there's a reported incident regarding cheating, fraud or illegal things that seen as part of history of the account. Freezing an account is not the only way so that a gambler could stop participating on it because there's a lot of ways to recover or to gamble again on that site, they can easily create new account to continue the gambling session etc.
78  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much of my salary should I use to gamble on: May 14, 2024, 10:30:57 AM
Answer is in my opinion, consider your country's inflation. If inflation is high enough your money is worthless anyways so you are more safe to gamble it without any issues.

In a way, yes, but also it would be better used in an investment rather than in a casino gamble.

And the faster you do it, the better returns.

Tomorrow's value of that money will be way less than what it is today in a high inflation environment.

That's a good suggestion tho, but if a person knows how to handle well their own finances, their own self and decision making then I think there's now way telling them to stop doing gambling and just focus in investment. Why we suggest to stop if they can manage to do both, at the end of the day, it's a matter of how you will enjoy yourself while doing the things that you really want to do and not causing any trouble in your personal being.
79  Economy / Economics / Re: A lot wealthy people not smart they just use debt on: May 14, 2024, 10:10:20 AM
No one is born with a lot of wealth. to own a lot of wealth one has to work hard and also invest a lot of money. and the wealthy borrow to finance that investment. and banks can run their business only through their additional loans and when we put money in FD in banks, they lend to others and give us a percentage of the loan money with interest. Everything is done in a cycle. so taking loans of the rich is not only profitable for them, it is also profitable for various sides, we are also its circulators.

Hmm, so what's your thought about nepo babies? They are born with generational wealth and they don't need to work hard just to get things that they want in life, but if you are a normal perso  who wants to get rich or wants to have a confortable life for your family then you need to work hard and to work smart just to gain a lot of money. for me, it's not enough that you just work unless you get the highest position and have the highest salary offer, but if you're a normal employee, it's hard or it'll take a long time before you can achieve the financial stability you're looking for. It's really better that we should have other sources of income such as sideline business or investment and of course we should also know how to handle money because if we don't know how, it's possible that all the money that passes through in our bank accounts will run out immediately if you don't use it properly.
80  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chased loss, got it back and lost everything. on: May 14, 2024, 09:22:34 AM
Anyone here familiar with this kind of scenario on the title? Just recently saw a compulsive gambler diary which he manage to recover everything when he chased loss then later on he loss it all.

Reading this guy confession https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/forum/topic/compulsive-gambler-chased-loss-got-it-back-then-lost-everything-again/ sometimes remind me of myself when I’m still not that fully taking control my gambling habits. I’m sure other players can relate to the part that you still keep playing after recovering your losses for a hope to win a little bit before you leave.

It is a common scenario that every gamblers experience nowaday, because of greed and hoping to get back all the money that they've lose and assumed that the money will double up the price but turns out to lose everything that they have. Worst thing is that even their savings and emergency funds has been used up. We need to learn with this kind of worst experience so that we can prevent to happen this thing to us, even if other people say that we can't learn by reading other people experiences and failures unless it will happen to us but at least we know the things that we need to avoid so we will not ended up being in that worst situation.
