681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin an opportunity like land on: January 30, 2024, 04:06:41 AM
In term of profit you might be correct but, land would only increase its value over time and that is for sure specially if you would develop it, unlike in Bitcoin there is a risk we couldn't be sure that it would only increase there is also a potential that the price would fall down.
For me if you want a secure investment land is much better than crypto or Bitcoin.

That's right, as we all know that land appreciated it's price over the years passed, that's why it's easy to gain profit, unlike in bitcoin that the price is volatile and we didn't know when the price spikes up, but for me, I can see that both of them is a good investment in a different ways, so if you have a money to secure land and btc, choose both.
682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone Calls My Child's Name Bitcoin. on: January 29, 2024, 10:08:35 PM
OP, your son has gone viral among everyone in your area  Cheesy

Since you paid the birth fee in bitcoins when you gave birth to your child, everyone in your area knows that you use bitcoins, so they call your son Bitcoin. If Bitcoin is accepted as legal tender in your country then I think you can be proud that your son is called Bitcoin. However, if Bitcoin is not accepted as legal tender in your country, you may also run into administrative harassment.

and because of that, his son could be harmed because when he was given the nickname bitcoin, the privacy of his child and the whole family was exposed. OP said that bitcoin is not well known in their country so many people ask questions and ask for an explanation about bitcoin, maybe OP should not have said that he used bitcoin payment for the cost of childbirth, for the sake of their privacy when it comes to financial matters, and to avoid asking questions from other people. Today, it's better to be low key in life, let's take care of our privacy especially when it comes to our self, family, financial aspects and personal matters
683  Local / Pilipinas / Re: 🔥 Bitcoin Accepted Store Spotted 🔥 on: January 29, 2024, 01:54:20 PM
For restaurants, we recommend:
- Steampunk
- Meze Wrap
- Laketown
- 2 Brown Boys
- Aplaya
- Royal Indian Curry House (RICH)

684  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 29, 2024, 01:40:55 PM
Everyone was young and everyone had big money but most of it was spent somewhere and was misused. Yes. The message you convey is correct and if possible this is done by young people today, the advice you convey above is very good and don't let our experiences that are wrongly set above also be felt again (repeated) even though there are glimpses of words like this we often hear. "Yes. When else can you enjoy it if not now"..
It is difficult to control or manage finances at a young age because there are many temptations to fulfill needs that will drive current styles or trends.
I've felt that way and actually I know and understand the importance of saving while I'm still young, but it's difficult to do.
All experiences of oneself or others and also suggestions are needed, but all actions come back to self-awareness.

It's quite difficult to do, especially if you are earning enough for your daily expenses and monthly bills only. No matter how hard we try and want to save, we can't because as time goes on, all expenses increase due to economy inflation, so the best thing to do to save faster while you are still young is to invest if you have extra money or try to find extra income and use your income to use in the investment or business that you are planning to do.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: January 29, 2024, 01:15:27 PM
Its normal to have such feelings during gambling, there's always this hidden voice assuring you of success and encouraging you to stake higher to earn better benefits, truth be told, that's the voice of destruction. If you listen to such voice, you might  ruin yourself. Every game  looks very encouraging until it turns out to be a loss. You might gain from it,  but as you continue entertaining such ideas consistently, you would observe that you're now gambling as a source of revenue and then the policy of gambling for fun is defeated.

Its advised to stick to  your initial plans and principles of gambling. If you win, its an added advantage and if you lose, you continue having fun. Increasing stakes unnecessarily births greed and increases possibility of  loss and frustration in gambling.

I'm sure many of us have experienced something like that, but they don't notice much because their attention is focused on betting and gambling. That's also one of the reasons I see why many of them lose their control even though they have a plan in advance of what to do when it comes to gambling. I agree that we need to stick in our initial plan and principles, no matter hoe many desctruction may come, Always remember what's the real reason why started in gambling.
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are every activities/competitions with stake known to be gambling? on: January 29, 2024, 12:51:40 PM
Me: Gambling is a game of chances to winning or loosing where stakes are involved. It is an activity of personal desires to decide if you derives chasing after profits or catching funs.

However you tends to define gambling, it would be incomplete if stakes, risks and challenging activities (competitions) are not mentioned.

You can defined it your way but my interest is to understand this>>> Are sports games or related competitive activities which stakes are involved between both sides or teams also gambling?
Remember, there would be a winner to be rewarded and a looser to lost the stakes.

Every activity that requires money and stakes are called gambling, no matter what type of game is that, if there's monetary value involved and risking any amount, then that's gambling. Even those sports betting activity, many people didn't recognize that as a gambling but for me, it is. In my own opinion,  no matter which angle you look at it, you still spent money and took out money to bet. Even if we say that it's just a typical sports game, since you've used money and you're competing with the bet of the opposite group, isn't that considered gambling?
687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2 years old kids alone at home for hours, while the father goes gambling on: January 29, 2024, 12:18:32 PM
This is an appalling story of a father who prioritized his gambling addiction over the safety of his two young children. Leaving two toddlers unsupervised for five hours is incredibly irresponsible and could have had tragic consequences. It is a miracle that the children were not harmed, and it is thanks to the quick thinking of a neighbor that they were not left to fend for themselves any longer. The father's actions are a clear example of how addiction can cloud judgment and lead people to make dangerous decisions. It is important to remember that addiction is a disease, and people suffering from addiction need help, not punishment. However, that does not excuse this father's actions, and he should be held accountable for his neglect.

I really can't understand the actions taken by the father in this case, gambling really makes a person crazy and can't use his brain and mind properly, how could he leave his two young children just to go to the casino to gamble, like exchanging human lives for the interest in gambling. Of course this is a very bad act. But maybe we can conclude a little and take lessons from this incident that gambling addiction really has a bad impact and will not only harm yourself but also the people around you. On the other hand I think there is no reason for a defense for a father because what they are betting is not money or anything but the life of a child who is their own flesh and blood, on the other hand I think it seems that he not only has a gambling addiction but also seems to have other problems such as stress that combine to cause unexpected decisions. In any case, I think it's worth pointing out that this is the worst case of addiction.

if a person can't really avoid controlling himself in doing excessive gambling activities, he will really be in danger as well as the people close to him. It is not normal for a person to leave his children just to satisfy himself in doing gambling. As I've previously said, this incident will be an eye opener to those other people who also did this kind of thing, that there's a consequences on the things that you chose to make in your life, so always.choose wisely when it comes to your decisions, plans amd other thing that may help your entire family.
688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making too many picks reduces chances of winning. on: January 29, 2024, 12:02:01 PM
in gambling I think the chances of winning are very slim, while the chances of losing are large, and if they gamble with large bets, it is not possible that they will win easily, the chances of losing are still superior to the chances of winning. The bigger the bet, the bigger the risk, not the bigger the chance of winning, and as you said, the higher the chance of losing the money. and in my opinion it is clear that this cannot be hidden or avoided.

When it comes to the choices available in gambling, in my opinion it is simple because it is only about winning and losing, but the problem is, many of those who gamble complicate everything, especially by losing. Not a few gamblers don't accept that they lose, so they gamble continuously with the aim of recovering their losses, even though they shouldn't do that,  because that way they will only suffer bigger losses.
I agree with you, they must consider their betting history to minimize the losses that will occur if they continue to gamble.
Those are the type of people that should stay away from gambling if they can, it would make a lot more sense. I understand that it may feel like it is not going to be all that easy, but it is fairly easy to stop.

You just don't gamble, and yes I know that it is going to feel horrible when it comes to that and people will have trouble stopping because they have this within deep desire to keep gambling but they just have to find enough will to stop gambling when they should. If they fail to do that then the yare going to keep gambling when they shouldn't and that will result with horrible losses, the ones that are bigger than they could afford. Seen a lot of people lose way too much money that way and I hope not many would repeat it.

We can't deny the fact that quitting gambling is somehow difficult to a person most specially if that person is under severe type of addiction in gambling. with that, giving them an ordinary advice is not suitable with their current state.
If they really want to lessen or quit doing gambling, they should have force theirselves in having strong determination of doing it because it's really not that easy. Sometimes, The advice given by the professionals is also a big help if they come to them because those medical doctor knows what is the correct process to gradually eliminate gambling from our daily lives.
689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the definition of a Gambler? Do you consider yourself as a Gambler? on: January 29, 2024, 11:30:02 AM
I gamble, and I define the word Gambler as a person who plays a game using money. Maybe that sounds uncomfortable for some people but others can accept it. They do admit that they are gamblers. But some people hide their gambling activities so that other people don't call them gamblers.

And it is the right of everyone to accept the word Gambler in themselves. If they don't want to be called a gambler, they can hide their gambling activities. By hiding it, they could prevent the word Gambler from being used by others. It can make them comfortable with their gambling activities.

As long as we are not affected by anything from gambling, we do not need to feel uncomfortable with the word Gambler. We can use gambling as it should be. We also don't need to feel uncomfortable or dislike it because that's how it is.

Exactly! As we all know that there's nothing wrong if someone will call you a gambler because that's what supposed to call a person who play with the extent of money. Some people may be embarrassed when others call them gamblers, or maybe they just don't want people who know them to look at them badly because we know that when others hear the word gambling, the first thing that comes to their mind are doing bad habits and its influence on a person.
690  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Island in the Philippines, Have you ever been there? on: January 28, 2024, 11:18:29 AM
I've looked at photos of Boracay, and this place does look really beautiful. The fact that it's already a major resort makes it different from other projects of Bitcoin cities, islands and hubs because those I've seen were intended to be built from ground zero, basically, whereas here, the influx of tourists and a lot of businesses are already there. This, perhaps, will help Boracay succeed where others have failed.
I don't think one island can fix a country's economy, but it may be a step in the right direction.

Indeed, Boracay island is such a beauty and majestic place,
the fine white sand and natural resources that the island of Boracay has will really attract tourists and Many people is actually go there. Now, if there are only big stores or hotels that accept bitcoin payment, it will attract more foreign tourists because we know that many people from other countries have investment in bitcoin rather than local people from Philippines,  I read in a thread that there are only a few stores that offers bitcoin payment in Boracay, and most of them are small type stores, so it would be better for hotels to have that mode of payment.
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What strategies do you adopt that can help to make millions in sport betting on: January 28, 2024, 11:00:49 AM
Well, I don't use any strategy to win at the sportsbook, I just bet on the team that I think will win according to my analysis and that's all. Because I don't think that my betting will be able to make me a millionaire because the opportunity to achieve that is very difficult and not all gamblers can achieve that. So I just bet casually without having to think too hard about a special strategy that could make me a millionaire.

Same here! when it comes to sportsbetting, I bet what I feel has the potential to win, I also do research prior to the game so that I have an idea to the analysis that I will do. You are also right that the opportunity to become a millionaire in sports betting is very rare and you are very lucky if you are one of the people who will win such a huge amount. One of the things you can do to avoid huge loss is to avoid thinking too much while you are playing, just be calm and don't think about anything so as not to attract negative energy.
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helping family businesses and fulfilling dreams with Bitcoin. on: January 28, 2024, 10:31:26 AM
Wow, this is truly a great story, great work on turning your dreams into a reality, i'm sure you are on top of the moon right now! To be able to pay for a machine that makes your family money and thus generate a return & also to be able to buy your childhood dream bike all with Bitcoin is like a double whammy man! Great work! I loved your faith quote too. God is good & he will bless good people, I can tell you are good people Cheesy

how I wish I could do the same for my parents, because it feels so good to be able to give them the things they dream of. I hope we all can do what OP did, because it feels really good when we can do everything with the help of crypto.
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be worried or comfortable seeing your elderly mother gambling? on: January 28, 2024, 09:29:22 AM
Or simply old people are impulsive.  Grin

They are indeed, and some diseases make them more prone to impulsiveness. In fact it has been seen that it is the group of population who are suffering from impulsiveness and attention deficit are the ones who are gambling more often and are more likely to get addicted to gambling than their peers.

It is indeed our job to prevent this and keep social media and internet accessible devices away from such people. If we do that we can stop disasters from happening and prevent loss of huge amounts of money.

Give them non-gambling based games to play with, something that kids love too.

Most adults look for attention from the people they love in life, and if they can't get it, they will divert their attention to other things, that's where their attachment to gambling and other activities comes in. One of our duties in life is to somehow look at our parents so that we can monitor what they are doing and if they are okay. It is better that we are open with our parents so that we know what they feel and we are aware of what they want to do. Usually when people get older, they often seek attention, become sensitive and feel sorry for themselves because they think that no one cares about them
694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When I'm emotional, I LOSS! on: January 28, 2024, 08:50:43 AM
Hey, guys! Are any of you emotional gamblers who often lose because you can't control what you feel? When you lose, do you tend to double your bets or chase your losses, driven by a pride that can't accept defeat? Do you consider this a problem? If so, has anyone here been able to solve this kind of problem themselves, and if yes, how did you do it?

I have this problem, and based on my personal experience, I find that sometimes I get challenged but not too greedy because I don't have a problem quitting when I'm winning. However, when I'm losing, that's where my struggle lies.

That's why I shared it here; I feel that some of you may experience the same challenges, and I'd love to hear your ideas or experiences on how to win this battle so we can enjoy gambling.

I think we all have experienced such an event, sometimes it's really hard to fight our emotions especially when we are at the peak of winning and losing. there are times when you think too much about your game, so instead of winning, it's as if you're wishing for luck to come and in the end you'll just lose.
When that's the case, what I always do is think carefully first and try to control my mind as much as I can, because I'm also one of the impulsive type of person, I often just go ahead with the things I want to do without thinking the consequences, but now, even though it's hard to do, I always put self-control in my mind.
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2 years old kids alone at home for hours, while the father goes gambling on: January 28, 2024, 08:24:25 AM
Quote
KPHO reports that one of the man’s neighbors called 911 and said 2-year-old twins were running around alone outside a Peoria-area home with an aggressive dog.

The neighbor reportedly told police the twins were outside for roughly 20 minutes, running near the street before he called and brought them inside his house.

...

Court paperwork stated Opdycke initially told police he went to a nearby Taco Bell. He claimed he was gone for 30 minutes, ordering and eating his food at the restaurant while leaving the kids at home.

...

However, when Opdycke’s wife arrived, he asked to speak to officers alone and changed his story.

Opdycke confessed that he didn’t go to Taco Bell and instead, he went to Desert Diamond Casino around noon, five hours before police were called.

...

During a search, authorities said they found Opdycke had winning tickets from the casino and over $2,000. He was booked on one count of child abuse.
Father arrested after leaving 2-year-old twins home alone for hours to go gambling, police say

The urge this man felt to gamble was so high, that he didn't even measure the consequences of leaving two 2 years old kids at home alone to gamble at a local casino for 5 hours straightforward. Imagine the state of mind of this man to give more value to his gambling session than to the lives of his two young kids who could need him anytime.

Luckly there was an attentive neighboor to call the police, otherwise the dangerous dog or any other potential threat on the streets could have severely harmed those kids.

This kind of incident is one of the example of bad things that may happened if you are doing excessive gambling activities.
He deserves to be sued because it is not a good thing to leave your naive children just so you can gamble, what if the children have an accident and harmed because of what he did. That's a warning for other parents who will try to do such nonsense things over their family's safety.
696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling addiction lead to domestic violence? on: January 28, 2024, 08:05:59 AM
Being addicted to gambling can be a thorn in the flesh. We have heard many bad behavior from gambling addicts that shows that gambling is a serious concern requiring serious efforts at curbing it. Many casinos also include in their disclaimer "gamble responsibly" and this shows the danger of gambling addiction.

However, I'm wondering if addiction can make someone become aggressive to the point of leading to domestic violence. Has there been any known case of it happening? Lets know what you have to say.

There is a high possibility of domestic violence when a person is under the influence of a severe gambling addiction, because a person is not in their right mind, they are quick to get angry and irritated even for small things. how else if a person experiences a series of defeats, they may hurt others when they are not given what they want.

697  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 28, 2024, 07:42:26 AM
What is hard is when you are young, you do not think about the future all you want to do is play and have fun

I believe that at youth, we have to be financially responsible already even at a young age
We should teach kids how to save and only spend on what is worth and what they really need

I am still quite young but i want to be financially stable when I am older, financially free even so that i do not have to think or worry about myself and the people that i will be leaving behind

because most young people today, they prefer to enjoy their time in good activities because they know, when they reach the right age, they will find it difficult to manage their time because they are already focused on working and saving money.
We all have our own decisions in life, there are a few who while young, they prefer to be financially stable so they can retire earlier, but most just follow the normal flow of life
698  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 27, 2024, 01:24:20 PM

After learning inflation can devalue your cash, I wouldn't really recommend saving in this untimely situation where the inflation keeps rising. Today, what a person should do is become a prepper and spend his money on what he can afford for now because he may not afford it later. And if a person can afford to invest instead, then it's a better choice than saving.

exactly! Nowadays, it is not advisable to keep our money in the bank. it really depends on a person's situation but if you have extra money, it would be better if you invest it in things that can grow your money, just like investing in crypto, but when it comes to investment, it's better to know everything about it before you start investing because it's not a joke if you're going to take out money and then you don't know what you need to do.
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the definition of a Gambler? Do you consider yourself as a Gambler? on: January 27, 2024, 10:04:34 AM
Personally, I don't like the word Gambler tbh. And it feels more worse when someone calls someone a Gambler in the local language. I played some hands it's true and I tested many games for test purposes But I was never affected by the gamble. and I consider I am not a gambler myself. Somehow I do not feel good or something does not fit with me by this word.

What do you think about yourself and how do you want to define the word Gambler?

What is the appropriate call for people who spend money for their gaming? the kind that has money attached to it when you play. For me, there is nothing wrong with the word Gambler, it's just up to the person how they classify a person when they call him a gambler. There are some people who, when they hear the word gambler, they immediately feel negative even though they don't really know what is going on with a person.
For me, even though I gamble, I am not offended if I am called a gambler because that is the correct name for what I do, as long as I know myself that I can manage my gambling, especially in handling my finances.
700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for fun vs gambling for the financial benefit. on: January 27, 2024, 08:27:01 AM
I’m an odds guy and I see it like this. If you are gambling for fun, you’ll probably have something like a 95% success rate. If you are gambling for profit, you’ll probably have a 10% success rate. Each method gives you the same return financially. Choose wisely.

If you're gambling for fun, it's like you don't think about the pursuit of income anymore, if you have that mindset, you can play well, there's no pressure, so you won't have a problem if you lose. You will be satisfied with the result, so there is a greater chance that you will not lose or lose a large amount of money,
Unlike gambling because you will expect money from winning, there is a pressure on yourself that you should win because that is the only reason why you gamble, When that happens, there is a high possibility that your money will run out and what's worse is that you go over your budget.
