601  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ICO on: October 04, 2018, 09:50:14 AM
I think this thread belongs to Altcoin Discussion board since it has nothing to do with beginners in general nor it is providing any help or containing a question asking for help, but it is a plain discussion topic which does not fit in this particular board.
Though I'm sure that this thread will likely turn into a spam megathread once moved in the right board, but I will still guide you with the process assuming you, being a Newbie, don't know how to move a topic.

Follow these steps:
1. Open the topic you have started (in this case, it is the one we are on right now).
2. Scroll down to the complete bottom of the page. You will see 2 option at the bottom-left side of the page, right above the section containing 'Jump to:" function. Those options would be "move topic" and "lock topic".
3. Click on "move topic".
4. In the next window, in the "Move to:" dropdown menu, select the board you want to move your topic to (It should be Altcoin Discussion in this particular case). Leave other options as they are since they are all optional and you don't actually need to use them if you don't want to.
5. Click on "Move Topic", and your topic will get moved to the board you have specified in the previous window.
602  Other / Meta / Re: [Merit Analysis] How many Merit received users on: October 03, 2018, 03:56:08 PM
I looked at his page he hasn't activity

Yeah, now when you posted the link to his profile, it is clear to me. So the guy was a Sr. member who got 250 Merit from the initial Merit Airdrop, and got all those extra Merits from his friends (or alts) in bulks abusing the system, and when he got negative tagged for that, he deleted all his posts which brought his activity points back to zero hence making him a Brand new user once again.
Strange case. You don't get to see such cases very often. At least I haven't seen one before this.
603  Other / Meta / Re: [Merit Analysis] How many Merit received users on: October 03, 2018, 01:16:34 PM
5. Top 100 Merited Profiles

Top 100 profiles received 43237 merit. In percentage terms it is 17.89% of the total number of merit.

Code:
Users Ranks:
Amount           Merit            Per cent of the amount of Top 100
Brand new       1               250                           0.57%
...
...

This must be a mistake. A user who has earned 250 Merits would not remain a Brand new since it only requires 1 activity point to become a Newbie and someone cannot earn Merits without posting anything. If someone who has spent less than 6 weeks in the forum and earned that much Merit, he must be a Newbie, otherwise if he has spent more time than that, he would be in a higher rank. But however, a Brand new user cannot have any Merits (unless he gets them for the very first post he does and his profile isn't updated yet).
604  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitart's post review topic for newbies to help them earn 1 or max. 2 merits on: October 03, 2018, 12:35:18 PM
~

Posts like the one below are not considered to be constructive and Merit worthy:

Quote from: Zhadedu
Though that might happen in the nearest future if the government go against the use. To some that might just be a fiction because Bitcoin has come to stay and it is growing our economy more faster than our fiat money does.

The posts you have listed to be reviewed are all like the one above, and such posts won't earn you any Merit. I have also checked your post history to see if there is something worth Meriting but all I found was generic replies in spam megathreads and they are not what is being asked for here.
605  Other / Meta / Re: The unluckiest person in bitcointalk on: October 02, 2018, 10:26:40 AM
The reason why this guy is stuck at 1021 Activity points is because that is how many posts he made until now. Your account gets 14 activity points every 2 weeks, but they will only get added to your activity count if you make 14 posts in that period (or even later, they remain as long as you are active). If you make 7 posts in 2 weeks, you will only get 7 activity points for that.

Example:

A user creates an account, and starts using it immediately. We already know that an account is assigned 14 activity points after every 2 weeks. So, the guy makes only 10 posts in 2 weeks. He gets 10 activity points for that period. After 2 more weeks, his account is assigned with another 14 activity points, but he made only 10 posts again in that period, so he gets only 10 activity points again. At the end, his account was assigned 28 activity points in 4 weeks, but since he posted only 20 times in that period, his account would only have 20 activity points. The remaining activity points are added as soon as he posts again.

That is how activity system works. The guy you mentioned must have had enough potential activity points to be a Legendary and maybe that is why he got 1000 Merits in the initial Merit Airdrop, but since he doesn't have enough posts to reach Legendary rank, he is still a Hero member. He will become a Legendary as soon as he reaches 1030 posts which would complete his activity points to become a Legendary member.

Hope that answers the question.
606  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban evasion] +200 connected accounts on: October 02, 2018, 10:06:11 AM
Jesus, you've got to wonder how much time these guys have got on their hands to be posting on 200+ accounts, unless it's a team of people then it's more understandable.

That's mostly the case. Though there can be some people who do nothing else than this and they might not involve anyone else so that they get all the rewards, but most of the times, they have teams where one person creates accounts and distributes them to everyone so that they earn money through them and get a part of what their accounts earn. I remember a thread where this guy got a negative trust from a DT member and he was requesting for it to be removed, and in that thread, he posted a picture where there were a group of people sitting on a table and everyone having laptops in front of them, which he said was his team who are always working on bounties. So I wonder that is what most of them do since it is a very tiring job to handle that many accounts yourself no matter how much you love earning money.
607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: October 02, 2018, 09:37:25 AM
To me, Satoshi Nakamoto is not a group of persons but an individual.

And to me, you are a lunatic who just necrobumped a 5 year old thread for only the sake of increasing your post count or whatever else you had in mind. You definitely need to learn reading before you start to post regularly because you don't seem to be doing that at all. A person who reads a thread would undoubtedly notice the date when it was posted even before reading the content in it, but I believe you guys don't even read the complete content of a thread and just start writing whatever has at least 1% (or sometimes even none) relativity with it. This is insane!

You need to learn a lot of things before starting to post in here. If you keep doing stuff like this, you will get nothing but slaps on your face and a ban from the community in future. So be careful, and read everything before you post. And, definitely avoid bumping dead threads from the past, like this one.
608  Other / Meta / Re: Can we have a local thread? on: September 30, 2018, 01:17:20 PM
wait about 24-48 hours and if you don't get a response, just go aheaad and post it I'd say...

I would rather suggest him to wait for a response. If he is really willing to do something for his native speakers, he should not spoil it by breaking a rule and getting a negative impact for that. Patience mostly works better than doing things in hurry.

I don't think you're likely to get banned for one rule break...

Would you say the same thing to someone who plagiarizes or breaks another forum rule? Rules are rules, and there can be no partiality for it, no matter who is the person in question. Someone should either follow the rules, or get ready for the punishment. So I would suggest mday to be patient in this matter to avoid getting into negative sides of the matter.
609  Other / Meta / Re: Sr. Member thanks to the merit system on: September 30, 2018, 09:38:55 AM
Congratulations!

My story is not so different from yours actually. I registered way back in Jan, 2017, when the only thing I used to know was "Bitcoin is a digital currency." and that it had a very big market cap and quite a big value. I was so curious to learn more about it, so I registered here and started reading everything I could. I didn't use to post anything at that time, but was just learning the things around here. I had to stop using the forum for some time because of my studies, and at the time I came back, Merit system got introduced. I was a Newbie at that time, since I haven't been posting and was away from the forum for some time as well. If I would have started posting right after my registration, I would have been in a higher rank today, but I didn't have the knowledge to do so, and, though I didn't know a lot about spam and all at that time, I didn't like writing useless things like the most newcomers do these days.

So, at the time Merit system was introduced, I had been posting already since I knew I can do that now. Just like other Newbies, I used to think I won't reach a higher rank anymore, and it isn't possible for me to earn Merits. I even used to search for Merit giveaway threads in order to get some Merits. As the time passed by, I started getting Merits for my posts, which encouraged me to post in a better way, so did I. Very soon, I had enough Merits to rank up to Member rank. I was so happy for it. Then again, I had to leave the forum for a couple of months for some personal reasons. I would definitely have much more than I have right now if I hadn't need to go. But I came back, started posting again, and earned enough Merits to rank up to Full member recently. I'm happy again, because there was a time when I used to think I may not be able to achieve this, but I did, and all by just posting normally, without much technical knowledge or stuff like that. I will continue doing that, and hopefully, I will be happy once again, when I will rank up to Sr. member.

My advice to everyone struggling for Merits would be: You don't need to be a very much knowledgeable person in order to get Merits. All you need is some time, a good enough command on English, the ability to grasp the things you read, and some simple knowledge about how to construct a good looking post. If you have them all, and you use them in the right way, there is no one to stop you. Don't ever think that you are not worthy of it because you don't know the algorithms of blockchain technology. That is not a necessity for this, though it gives you an advantage to have knowledge of every kind, but a constructive post doesn't always need to have anything like that at all. If people take it like that, then it is a very big misconception.
610  Other / Meta / Re: New way of account selling and buying on: September 30, 2018, 08:50:12 AM
I know account selling is prohibited in the forum

It isn't. It is just discouraged:
Quote
18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

is it allowed to post telegram groups links in bitcointalk? AFAIK that's where all the black market deals are going on like merit trading, account selling etc...

Yes, it is allowed to post telegram group links because it is not telegram who encourages such actions, but it is the users who use it for negative things, and those negative things are negative only for us, since they are happening in plain chat windows which is what telegram provides to its users.
You cannot simply ban a platform not to be used just because a few people are using that platform to do evil stuff. It is not the thing that is good or bad, but it is the usage.

You cannot stop such actions from happening outside the forum as long as there are communicating medias available to them, and you cannot ban them all. Likewise, you cannot simply put a ban to having multiple accounts since there are people having multiple accounts for good reasons as well. There should be some other way to tackle this.
611  Other / Meta / Re: List of demoted Jr. Members who were ranked up again on: September 30, 2018, 08:28:51 AM
No Unfortunately i cant be a brown noser to get 7 merit , and a total of 107 merit , fellow my finger

I was a Newbie when the Merit system was introduced, so I didn't get any Merits from the initial airdropped. Those 107 Merits are all earned by me, so jokes on you.
And how is it not unfortunate if you, having so many posts and activity points, could not even earn a single Merit only to claim back the position you had which has been taken away recently from you? But you know what? You deserve this!
612  Other / Meta / Re: TMAN's Level up challenge.-- UPDATED... on: September 29, 2018, 04:36:01 PM
ive unlocked this as its relevant again right now, if I only get pajeets I will lock again. "if" I get some newbies who want to put some effort in, then ill leave this open for a while.

Good news for potentially constructive new members.

I think you need to edit a small thing in the following part of the OP. It is actually just one letter, but because new genuine users might read the OP and confuse themselves if they does not know about it already, you should do it immediately.

this is the new structure..

Rank   Required activity   Required merit
Brand new   0   0
Newbie   1   0
Jr Member   30   0
Member   60   10

That highlighted zero (0) needs to be changed to one (1) according to the new changes.
You would have figured it out yourself maybe, but since I saw it unchanged until now, I thought I should inform you so that you do it ASAP.
613  Economy / Services / Re: Team member required for New ICO on: September 29, 2018, 04:11:06 PM
I think you have misunderstood. We have the data expert onboard. Now we need a networking expert. Different requirement so different thread.

If you had hired the person you were seeking, then why didn't you lock that thread? And, it didn't needed to be in a different thread as well. You could simply make one thread asking for the two required people in your team without having to open 2 different threads. Even if you didn't do that, you could have edited that thread and change the title to "Team members required for New ICO" and then you should have written the positions and have put a strikethrough to the one that was already hired.

Thanks for your suggestion. Will remeber it in future.

No worries. I appreciate your understanding.
Good luck with the project you are a part of.  Smiley
614  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Report question mark thread those are already answered. on: September 29, 2018, 04:01:42 PM
Hi mate, I know you make a good contribution to the forum but any chance that you can improve your English a little bit? I usually understand what you say but I’m not really sure of what you are trying to say here.

Suggested the same thing in one of his earlier threads. I'm not sure if he even read it or not. This is what I said:

@OP, may I give you an advice? I wish you don't mind this, but you should probably practice your English a bit more. Since you are a good poster and you will need to continue that, you should probably learn the grammar which is not that difficult if you dedicate some time to it. It is not that your writing is not understandable, but I think it would look much more convincing for the readers if your sentence construction is a little bit more precise.
I hope you take this positively.

Regards.

OP got answers and he reply on thread,
Quote
Thank you for your constructive answer. Have a good Friday

Have you even read the complete thread which you are talking about? The reply you have quoted was actually not from OP to someone who answered the question he asked, but it was for TMAN who gave some tips to OP for getting Merits because he had posted a couple of threads in one of his replies there where he tried to get Merits by plagiarizing, which is what was being discussed in that thread after the answers of Vod and jacee, which answered the questions asked by the OP.

Locking threads after getting satisfactory answers is good, but if there are more things to be discussed that relates to that issue or to the OP, there is no bad in that, IMO.

I would love to see your friends to know whether they really changed their posting behavior and started being constructive, or they just had some friends of their own who helped them get through.  Roll Eyes
616  Other / Meta / Re: List of demoted Jr. Members who were ranked up again on: September 29, 2018, 02:27:02 PM
bounty hunters posting no sense phrase

You seem to be one of them as well:

Bitcointalk name: KayceeMae
Rank: Jr. Member
Current post count: 167

But since the new changes have demoted you to Newbie again, you had no choice but to leave them and start trying to get 1 Merit from somewhere. Unfortunately, you failed in that too.
617  Economy / Services / Re: Team member required for New ICO on: September 29, 2018, 11:02:27 AM
Why did you create a new thread today when you had created the same one yesterday with just a little bit different wording?

Hello community

We are launching an ICO for decentralize video content hosting and sharing platform. Users will be rewarded in our coins for using our platform. We are working on this platform since months and now its in final stage. We will go for an ICO after the launching of our working model.

As of now we need a team member specialise in data Analysis/server management/Sys Admin  preferably have 1-2 years experience in data management field.

Regards.

You can simply bump your thread once in 24 hours so that it pops to the top and people get to see it. You don't need to create another one every day if the previous one gets down in the list.
618  Other / Meta / Re: New boards on: September 29, 2018, 10:47:25 AM
The reason for altcoin projects leaking in, in Project Development, can be this:

Project Development
Organization of Bitcoin and related projects, bounty campaigns, advertising etc.

The tag under it clearly says that bounty campaigns or advertising stuff can also be placed in here. That would definitely draw some traffic from Altcoins to this board. Maybe that tagline should be modified so that people don't post projects that are not involving Bitcoin in any way since the board is in Bitcoin sub-forum. And users can report threads for being off-board so that mods can move them to where they belong.

Bitcoin discussion is always going to get spammed with altcoin related topics because its the first board people see. I don't really have a solution for that.

It doesn't require any solution since Altcoin sub-forum has its own discussion board named Altcoin Discussion. Any topics related to altcoins posted in Bitcoin Discussion should be reported immediately and would get moved (if useful) or trashed as soon as a mod checks the report.

Technical support is kind of a niche board that could touch upon some of the more technical sides of altcoins.

That's true. Having a separate board for Altcoin technical support would help categorize the technical stuff between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I know that theres so many altcoins to discuss but popular ones could maybe have their own boards too.

That doesn't seem to be a necessity to me. Any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin should only be discussed in Altcoins sub-forum since they are all alternative cryptocurrencies, no matter how popular they are. It is not only one or two altcoins that are popular, but they are many, and providing different boards for each one of them would mean a lot more moderation and even more open space for spammers. The forum already lacks moderation in some existing boards, and adding more to them would only make it worse.
619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A big movement by a Big exchange in INDIA on: September 28, 2018, 05:12:12 PM
i would like to ask all of your opinion that what you are thinking about the cryptocurrency future in India and your own country.

A person who loves a thing and uses it in his daily life would never think negative about how it would/could be in the future, even if the situations are against his thoughts. That is exactly what happens with cryptocurrency users. Even if the market is totally red, the countries are banning/regulating cryptocurrencies, people are abusing them to be evil, but if you ask someone who had been using them, he would say, "It is just a bad time right now. The future would bring something new and all this will finish soon." That is exactly what I would say, though it is not about what we say, but it is all about what the governments think, but why be negative?

the government has to accept Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies in order to survive in the world

I don't really think that's true. Banks and governments would never need to accept cryptocurrencies in order to survive, but the cryptocurrencies would require adoption in order to survive in the long run.

Bank's cannot fulfill our needs anymore

Maybe, but that is not what every single person says in the world, and it would only make a difference if everyone has the same thought about them (The Banks).
