622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack on Bitcoin on: May 26, 2023, 11:40:23 PM
I was wondering what it would cost to control 51% of the mining hash rate? Is this ever a realistic threat?
It's not a realistic threat because Bitcoin network is very big in hash rate and attackers have to spent huge and expensive cost to own 51% of total hashrate or more to do attack.

Because Bitcoin network is decentralized from nodes to hashrate, if something looks suspicious, miners will change their mining pools. Communities like exchanges have bots to detect attacks and will halt their withdrawal and deposit so attackers will waste their money for attacks.

623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much impact will China allowing crypto again have on Bitcoin? on: May 25, 2023, 11:14:41 AM
It's a mistake to think that what goes on in Hong Kong applies to mainland China. It seems from the article that the news was directly about Hong Kong, and in that case it's a promotion of certain freedom, available in a specific region, which can somewhat appease the public without any major changes for most of the country.
Obviously, some freedom in Hong Kong is good news, but it's nothing new, and the rest of the country is likely to continue living with the ongoing restriction and an illusion of financial freedom because you can hypothetically go to Hong Kong and enjoy it there.
Hong Kong has many differences than China mainland. Different regime, politics, economics models which are better than in China Mainland. The power in Hong Kong belongs to their citizens and their vote rights, not like in China mainland with serious centralized power in Xi Ping, a single man. China mainland is like Russia under the foot of a single man Putin.

Because of freedom and a regime which serves citizen benefits, Hong Kong can adapt better with modern technologies and have new adaptive policies to help its economy.

In China mainland or Russia, if they want to change anything, they can do it after an hour with a perfect 100% supported votes in their Congresses.
624  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: May 25, 2023, 11:08:36 AM
Reputation maybe not enough for other people to convince that they submit their Kyc since for them even though how reputable they are still there's risk beneath especially if the casino got hack and they have other financial accounts to protect. For such reason I guess its understandable for other to safekeep their personal details so that no issue will happen to them. Although we know roobet is reputable casino there are still people will doubt about their reputation or how they make those data's safe.
Reputation can be built, gained but can also be destroyed too.

We should be very cautious with new projects, new platforms that quickly grow and gain their reputation. I don't imply all of those projects, platforms are good and will scam us later but we must be more careful with new rising stars. Some of them will have bad management and will collapse later when the market, general economic conditions become bad and they can not control their finance models.

Lessons are still hot with Terra, FTX, Three Arrows Capital, Voyager and more in the last two years of bear market.

With old platforms and they have good reputation, we can trust them more. If they already went to one or two bear market cycles, they understand the market well and how serious a bear market is, they more likely have good risk management for their business. They are old and big already so they no longer have need to get rich quick and don't take extreme risk with big leverage.
625  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Your favorite season to trade cryptocurrency? on: May 25, 2023, 10:55:02 AM
Cryptocurrency is risky, and while we are aware of the basic requirements that must be in place in order to profit significantly, not all of us are aware of an appropriate season to trade. Most professional traders prefer the bear season, which, in my opinion, is the best period to conduct critical study on crypto projects, uncover ethical road maps, and invest in them for a possible solid future.
Because of bigger risk in bear market, it is not a more favorite season than with bull market. In bull market, you hardly see project collapses like Luna, FTX. In bear market, any project can fall like that and even professional traders can not know what will happen with a project.

Quote
The bull season is most likely harvest time; we reap what we sow in the market. Which season is better for trading, the bull or the bear?
Bull season is better as it has less risk of collapses when new capital flows in and helps price to rise more. With newbies, it is easier to get profit with trading in bull market with a condition that they don't pick scam projects. If they pick top projects, they will not lose in bull market.
626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching children Bitcoin is not in vain on: May 24, 2023, 10:58:42 AM
No need to tell them how to get income from Bitcoin, how to mine Bitcoin, or how to invest because we know they won't be able to accept it.
We only need to do a playing method that includes Bitcoin characters in the game, such as using the Bitcoin logo in a guessing game, or other games.
There are still many ways that can be done.

I also won't burden my child's mind with the knowledge that they shouldn't know yet, this is just an introduction.
When you teach children, you must simplify things as most as possible. They need to start with very simple things and they don't need to understand what they see, what they listen to at the first time. They can slowly digest information with time but they are like white papers and can learn very fast. Like they learn to open and watch Youtube and the likes.

I agree with you that if we teach children, we should not teach things about money, they should not touch money when they are children like how I was taught in my childhood. I could be wrong but I support this education approach and don't want to make my children becomes addictive with money, how to get rich and the likes.
627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The power of digital money on: May 24, 2023, 03:31:53 AM
indeed if the government prohibits its citizens from investing in btc this will make it difficult for a btc investor, and it is not impossible that crypto market conditions will also decline and people will definitely sell their assets.
If they can not shut down all non KYC exchanges, they will not be able to prohibit their citizens to invest in Bitcoin.

I don't think governments will want to get a complete prohibition against Bitcoin investors and they will never succeed to shut down non KYC exchanges. Bad ones technically will have bad endings but the world is not lack of developers to build better non KYC exchanges in future.

Quote
but bitcoin will always be there, only the price will definitely go down, but of course we won't know the truth for sure, because the crypto market is always difficult to predict.
It will be there, always even the Bitcoin network stop running. Your bitcoin will always be in your wallet, not disappear like a number in your bank account that will disappear if a bank collapses, get bankrupted and disappears.

Even if the Bitcoin network is dead (no hashrate, no miner), your will still have your coins like a collectible coin.
628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: May 23, 2023, 03:02:56 PM
I don't consider Jose Mourinho a great coach, I've said it several times. But Roma are not an easy team to deal with (well before the special one came)
Mourinho is not a great coach if you want to have sexy football and want to have a sustainable team like 5 years or longer. A great coach like that is Pep, Klopp as they always want to have sexy football from their players and they talk about their players in more friendly words. I read many times that Pep is not an easy coach to work with and he hides his plan with players but he is clever to create internal drama like Mourinho.

although Mourinho plays a more defensive game strategy. but that's the way Mourinho used to suppress aggressive teams. but Sevilla has a different type of game. Mourinho will definitely use a different strategy.
the odds offered by bookies are also attractive nowadays. but this gamble will definitely make gamblers confused. Roma is superior to some comments by football observers. I will also support Roma.
Roma can win with 50% chance. I am like stupid to say this but they don't have bigger chance because Sevilla are strong too and Roma can not be considered as stronger than Sevilla.

Sevilla has Spanish style and will play attacking football with high ball possession. They are very different than Roma that will play defensive and wait for chances from either Sevilla mistakes or counter attacking. After two seasons, Roma players digested their defensive and counter attacking tactics of Mourinho good and they are able to use it good enough in the final match.
629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: effect of a million bitcoins on: May 23, 2023, 02:47:02 PM
This will dump the market depending on the direction of the transaction flow. If it is moving from a non custodial wallet to another non custodial wallet, the market will not dump. If it moves from exchange to non custodial wallet, the market will improve instead. But if it moves from non custodial wallet to an exchange, the market will surely crash with alot of panic.
If they move coins to trade, before they actually trade their coins, market will be affected by panic and people will guess that those coins will be sold on market. We never know that they will sell or not sell but panic effect will occur ahead. I believe those transactions will be made to create panic rather than actually for trading.

If they want to sell their coins, they don't want to do effects that will eat their trade value and they will try to hide their intention as most as possible.

Moving coin out of exchange will cause more belief that there will be less selling pressure on market but we never know when they will move their coins back to exchanges. Another guess that will be psychological manipulated by whales.

Right, that's why it's an example Wink  ".......you will receive 500$ depending on BTC price."
Do you think of writing it again to avoid confusion?

" ... you will receive commission amount in $ depending on BTC price." I think it will not cause any confusion and it is not only about confusion. Some referrers can call you as scammer and it is not good at all. My 2 sat contribution for the team, we need clear terms and good examples. Grin

Is the commission in $ or in BTC? From the example, I think it will be sent to user in $, not in BTC.

You can't earn anything from the code but from the referral program if someone else uses your link.
Regarding referral  payout limit, we are thinking about it, even if it is not really high at the moment.
The information about Referral program likely is not correct.

Commission for each Referral

You will receive 25% commission from all fees, from each Referral. For example, if your Referral Mix 1 BTC on Coinomize and pay 4% Mixing fee, you will receive 500$, depending on BTC price.
Or your example is not correct. I don't know how the $500 is calculated from in this example.

Mix 1 BTC, 4% mixing fee is 0.04 BTC and 25% commission fee from it is 0.04 x 0.25 = 0.01 BTC. It is the commission fee the user will get, no way to get $500.

Or was the example written when Bitcoin price is $50,000?
632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: May 21, 2023, 02:34:30 PM
It's worth analyzing before this match starts and it seems I quite agree that Inter should be able to be more patient in matches with a defensive strategy than having to rush into open attacks which Manchester City can later put to good use to create opportunities. Maybe we still don't know for sure what strategy Pep Guardiola will use later and he certainly has analyzed several Italian clubs who always use a defensive strategy in every match.
I am sure that Inter Milan know that they will be destroyed if they play head-to-head attacking fight with Manchester City. They will choose a better strategy which is their favorite too, counter attacking.

They have a good system and perfect players for it, from defenders, swing backs to forwards and strikers.

Quote
If Inter succeeds in pressing Manchester City with a strong defense, then surely the Manchester City players will feel tired and at that time maybe Inzaghi will start carrying out an attacking strategy. But that may just be our layman's thinking, what is certain is that professional trainers will think far ahead to get the best results in the final match.
You forgot that Pep actually improved Manchester City defense system a lot in this season. In his previous clubs, defense is most common and biggest weaknesses of his clubs but in this season, it will be not easy for Inter Milan to score goal from their counter attacks against Manchester City in the final match.

Apparently, it will be big test for defense systems of both clubs in the final and maybe Inter Milan will have more challenge from Manchester City that probably will have more ball possession.

In Premier League Manchester City only got 31 conceded goals after 35 matches and they have best defense there.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 21, 2023, 02:21:49 PM
the competition for the 4 places in the Champions League does not depend only on Serie A, it also depends on luck, even if in the end we have the following scenario:

and if inter wins the champions league and roma wins the europe league then it will look like this:

1 - Napoli
2 - Juventus
3 - Inter
4 - Roma
It is a most surprising and weird scenario when two Italian clubs win both Champions League and Europa League. It helps them to have special qualifications to join Champions League without their position in top four of Serie A or not.

However, you forgot one thing, the limit on number of clubs from one nation in top five leagues of Europe is five slots, not four slots. If both clubs win those titles and they are beyond top four of Serie A, Serie A will have five clubs in Champions League.

Not your keys not your coins.
With Bitcoin you don't need collateral.
The bullish case for Bitcoin

With fiat currencies, you will need collateral to make its value. Collateral can be gold or anything used by government and central bank. Its value can be stable or can be volatile, you don't control it.
With banks, after you deposit your fiat currency there, they can use your money to re-invest into like bonds, securities and when national or global economy becomes uncontrollable worse than they expect, they will face risk of collapse just like many banks recently in the USA and Europe.

Transaction fees on Bitcoin blockchain are more expensive in the last 3 weeks than before.

Your pending transaction has its fee rate is less than 4 sat/byte. You can check mempool that has never dropped to 10 sat/vbyte in the last 2 weeks.
https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC%20(default%20mempool),2w,weight

I see your pending transaction is opt-in Replace by Fee and you can bump the fee to 14 sat/vbyte or 17 sat/vbyte to have confirmations.

637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: May 19, 2023, 03:17:03 PM
Of course, Mourinho will have to think of a different and more aggressive strategy to win the title. two games against Leverkusen which I think shows Mourinho's strategy has not changed. Rome is still relying on its defensive strategy. even in the second leg against Leverkusen, they did not create a single chance.
the final match is not only about the readiness of the players. but also the strategic war of trainers. a better-prepared team has a greater chance of winning. but the team that can anticipate the opponent's strategy has a better chance of winning. let's see how Mourinho will surprise.
Mourinho knows that with his tired players, it will be nightmare for Roma if they participate in the physical fighting and races with Bayern Leverkusen players. They will not be able to win and this fact together with good advantage Roma got from a semi final fist leg, Mourinho does not have reason to let his players play too openly in the second leg.

He knows what risks are and what Roma must complete to play in the final match. It is more easily when they knew what are their objectives in the second leg and focus on it in 90 minutes to get what they chase for.

As I said, Roma did play very closed from the start and that was done throughout the game. Roma focused on defense and their defensive strategy was quite successful in making many of Leverkusen's chances go to waste. I saw that Leverkusen did a very good job, but it's a shame that their efforts didn't pay off because Mourinho and his strategy managed to block all chances.
Roma simply blocked Leverkusen very well and they did got a good result and reserve some attacking players for further recoveries before the final match. They successfully avoided to use Dybala and El Sharawy when those attacking players are not fully ready. They will have about 2 more weeks for recovery and their appearances in final match in Budapest will be very helpful for Roma.

Quote
My expectations about the final between Roma and Sevilla turned out to be true. Sevilla beat Juventus at home and it was a good mentality for them to prove to anyone who doubted it.
What if both AS Roma and Manchester City win their final matches in Europa League and Champions League?

We will have an European Super Cub match in a next season? It will be a very interesting meeting between Mourinho and Pep Guardiola after many years.
638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: May 18, 2023, 08:00:03 PM
Mourinho knows what he's doing, he likes playing tactics no coach can predict. He loves defensive game, once he score one goal, this game is over for Roma. They will defend till the end. Mourinho understand this game very much.
Mourinho decided to let his players play as safest as possible in this match. They don't need to win the match and only need a draw. During the first half, their players in some situations only tried to kick the ball as far as possible from their one-third field side. Spinazzola looked to get a muscle injury and Zalewski was sent in to replace him. He is important for Roma attacking at the left side and Roma will need him in final.

I believe that this match will end with a 0 - 0 draw or a win 1 - 0 for Roma. In the second half, Leverkusen will have to attack more and Roma will have chance to find a goal to reserve a spot in the final match.

Quote
The Sevilla and Juventus game is very hard , both team are playing well in the first half. But the home team is still very favorite for to win. Let's see what the second half will bring. I'm sure that that Roma, Basel, and Sevilla will qualify to the next Stage.
It has a draw 0 - 0 after the first half too. At least Juventus did played good enough in Seville and did not let Sevilla score goals easily like Manchester United. Those clubs maybe will continue with extra time and even penalties.
639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A new milestone: 1M addresses hold 1 Bitcoin on: May 18, 2023, 02:24:35 AM
That sounds like a nice achievement in distribution of coins, and I hope we'll see even better distribution in the future. The op acknowledged that some addresses can hold funds of many people and some people can have several wallets, and with that, I still think it's largely not pointless info.
Bitcoin will be distributed to more people but not all of them will become Bitcoin holders. They will buy it, sell it or if they feel disappointed, they will exit this market forever. Fortunately, coins won't disappear to the air and will be changed from sellers to buyers. If there are people who exit this market forever, there will be opposite people who will become diamond hand holders.

Some bitcoins will be lost by people who lose their private keys and it is painful for people who lose their bitcoins but it is great present for other holders. It will help Bitcoin has less supply and makes its price higher.

One million addresses holding 1 Bitcoin does not mean that there are 1,000,000 different individuals holding Bitcoin.
Addresses, wallets and holders are different and we can not identify holders exactly with on-chain data.

Diversifying our bitcoins into different wallets, different addresses and devices are best ways to avoid losing all of our coins. We should not think we will never be hacked.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether to buy Bitcoin based on monthly net profits on: May 18, 2023, 02:08:44 AM
How do we verify if they really use their monthly profits to buy BTC? Even if that is true, I don't think it will change anything in regard to the BTC price if that's what we're worried about. I do believe they already did this. This move is probably to provide other ways to answer scrutiny if there are some questions about their reserves in the future.
Their capital flows (if it will) into Bitcoin market will be only small part of all capital in the market. It will potentially create FOMO in short term but its FOMO effect won't last too long. It won't create big change in the market in either trading volume or total capital in it. Tether will become a bigger institutional investor in Bitcoin.

Quote
If their documents are to be trusted, most of their reserves are in cash at the time of writing.
Their reserves mostly are in cash and gold if their report was not cooked to disguise us.

I don't think they will switch to BTC or other assets entirely since it is easier to get tracked by others. But yeah, people can easily get swayed by rumors on this market so it would be difficult to avoid the impact if they do (nearly) collapse.
If they make such switch, their stable coin will no longer a stable coin as it will be backed by unstable coin (Bitcoin).
