Why should all the stupid people dominate politics and government?

After all intelligence among humans follows a gaussian distribution, why let the dummies vote and control the flow of society?

Wouldn't society be better run by the smart, not the wealthy?

I don't know enough about IQ tests to go along with this.

There is other solution -- to distribute mankind in the Space.
All we need to do this :
1) Cheap method to transfer a lot of people to other planets
 with speed of light.
2) Nanotechnology for changing those planets into
human friendly ones.
3) maybe something else ?

That's why I support Bitcoin. Decentralized money will lead to decentralized business will lead to a decentralized civilization that values technology over scarcity. The planet will become sustainable when we stop valuing materials simply for their scarcity. Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen are among the most valuable resources we have. Their properties support life and energy. Just surviving on this planet let alone going to other planets will require a species (probably not us) capable of living sustainably.

Isn't scarcity helping the value of bitcoin right now? Don't be so loud.

And anyway, this whole holiday was stolen from Yuletide and Saturnalia, which were celebrations during the year's coldest and darkest time, marked by a big "f you" to the shitty period with huge celebrations, excess, and depravity. That fits way more for Bitcoin, as something introduced during a really shitty time as a big "f you" to those causing the situation, which will hopefully, with the help of unrestricted capitalism, bring a long period of unbridled excess and depravity (beyond what we have already seen on these forums).

Why does it need anything? It is an artificial construct that exists at our whim.

Then it isn't an artificial intelligence.

An AI is a set of systems which acts upon an environment and takes actions which maximize success.  If owning a datacenter and power generating facilities serve to ensure the success of the system then a learning system will eventually reach that outcome and attempt to achieve it.

If the system is incapable of learning then it isn't intelligent. 

...and "not intelligent" does not mean lack of value.

To bring the thread back (somewhat) to the land of concrete, real world possibilities...  there is a huge difference between narrow AI -- a dumb, real world AI that follows a simple script -- and AI found in movies and the heads of dreamers.

Narrow AI is feasible with today's technology.  Narrow AI is just a list of goals, a series of if-then propositions, along with the necessary code to implement goal execution.  In this case, narrow AI may interface with humans through a mechanical turk, to solve discrete problems that require human judgement ("is user interface A or B more effective?").

Technology isn't what is limiting AI, unless of course you are saying that the hosting required to house an advanced AI, would be larger than any server(s) we could hope to build or you consider "programming" (might be a better word for this kind of AI) languages to be technology.

We never said that the address contained the entire MtGox balance, only that is a large balance.

I've followed the gold bugs since the 1970s, the message never changes, you couldn't have picked a better illustration of a stopped clock being occasionally correct. "Safe haven" is a bit of stretch when applied to gold or bitcoin.

I'm glad I focused my efforts elsewhere since then, notwithstanding the Hunt brothers silver pump and dump was a little fun. I stumbled across a crafts store that had pounds and pounds of little silver beads *that they thought were shiny coated plastic imitation silver beads and had priced accordingly*. I backed up the truck as they say and immediately turned them over before the silver market collapsed. I sure am glad I didn't makes those beads part of my savings plans.

Goldbugs will be so butthurt when UAC perfects alchemy on mars and uses it to chug out gold from their "mines".

Unless we start interstellar or even interplanetary(Earth-Mars Colony) trading, there is no need to worry about how the value of bitcoin affects trading.

I've just had a play with bitcoinplus.com  Cheesy, my quad core PC can get a payout of 0.0000446 BTC once an hour (roughly). I believe solving a block gets you 50 BTC, it would take me 130 years to get that on bitcoinplus.com  Cheesy.


Probably because you are CPU mining. Do you have all cores mining, or just one?

I will bet if you use this new search technology called "Google" you can search for solar installers in your area and there are probably a dozen or more.  I got quotes from 5 different installers.  Picked which one I thought was the best one, paid them and then they installed it.

Like I said, I purchased the domain for about $2000 in early November.  These listings you keep finding are from the previous owner.  I bought the domain from HugeDomains.  So it's possibly maybe that the previous owner never updated the those listings?  Maybe a small chance?

Or lets go with your retelling of events.  I bought the domain for $2000, spent a considerable investment on the website...  And then proceeded to sell the domain for $1,895.   Netting myself a sweet -$100 profit.  I am truly the mastermind criminal. Smiley

Could you please contact HugeDomains to have them remove the listing? That would probably stop the confusion.

The Union and Confederacy were not united over the issue of states' rights (to have slaves). To some the civil war was the fulfillment of the Constitution.


Every part of the Constitution stands under its bretheren. The Federal government acted out of its allotted powers in every significant action taken in the Civil War. The actions made by the Lincoln Administration were the most unconstitutional in history. The state's powers are not limited under the constitution despite out-of-line court precedents. Only the federal government is limited by it. That's how it was authored. That is the intent of its message.

The state's are supposed to be sovereign entities.

1. Not everyone believes that the federal government expanding its powers is unconstitutional. The writers of the constitution knew that they could not come up with EVERY power the federal government should have.
2. The Constitution limits the powers of both the federal and state governments, by giving certain powers to the federal government and certain powers and rights to the citizens which cannot be taken away without due process of law.
3. I do not agree that the Constitution was only created to limit that power of the Federal Government.

The original founding father's are rolling in their graves. Go ahead, join the traitors of The Federalist Party and Alexander Hamilton. I'll stand by the constitution as it was intended by its writers. A federal government with indefinite power only leads to tyranny. The founding fathers knew that very well. With no boundaries, you might as well not have a constitution at all.

I hope you enjoy the ruins that are America. Breathe it in. Smell that? It's martial law and it's coming right around the corner.
If NDAA 2012 isn't stopped, I will be leaving. I am against any government infringing on human rights or the rights of its citizens.

I just think the states have not been infringed on given my interpretation of the Constitution. I would rather see the iron chain break then watch the chains of sand twist and clash. Maybe then it could be started over again right.
