621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 03, 2016, 08:27:20 PM
Thanks for your warm wishes Atomjuice i am glad you are having fun.  Sad to see you leave the party early. But fiat must go where fiat must go!

Anyhow, Hashrate is fluctuating.  This is new people starting to mine. We may yet see a jump in hashrate.

This is the nature of mining and miners.

It will go up and down ... more miners = higher diff = less pay = less miners = lower diff = higher pay = more miners = higher diff ... and so on.

ETC has gone through these in a fast pace since start.

PRICE IS KING

Today, traders may party,  but someone soon will be stuck with those eth.  You can't decide for people what they should use as money.
Only people decide that.  Good luck getting the public to use them.

 Wink

@MalReynolds

why does the hashrate not match?
https://slacknation.github.io/medium/13/13.html   vs    http://fork.ethstats.net/

Corrections are healthy after strong moves up in such short periods of time.  Consolidation will occur before larger moves up; all in due time.

Our hashrate is up      3425.1 GH/s   vs   1162.9 GH/s

THANK YOU MINERS - KEEP ON HASHING

miners of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your blockchains!

This will be an up hill strugle until we get a Dev to put their name behind this project.

I a brighter point, we have more people joining and hashrate is     3421.6 GH/s  vs   1113.4 GH/s

Big dumping now.

This is a correction.  We did real good to get 3mɃ.  We are not going away though.
we are still being talked about look https://coincheck.com/en/blog/1792

Market has a ruthlessly honest way of giving their support to something or not.

So do miners.  See and monitor into the future this chart:

ETC Price / Mining As Factor Of ETH

https://slacknation.github.io/medium/13/13.html

We lack market depth at the mo.  Due to uncertanty i assume.
I'm sure the traders are waiting for the right signals.

@MalReynolds  are you going to help?  Give some ETC?  Make a dapp?  Teach Smart Contracts?

I've owned ETC for a grand total of 48 hours.  Now I own a lot of it, and I'm planning on holding it as long as there is potential for growth - and I believe there is.  I'm still getting oriented.  Let me read the back posts here and absorb my new surroundings.  But yeah, I want to help.

Good man!  You are welcome!  Read well.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 03, 2016, 03:23:53 PM
I am a miner.  I run a node too.  I don't want to lose PoW.  No miner does.
But it is for the miners too choose if you have a network or not.
And its up to the users to decide if they will support miners or a centeralized organisation that issues them coins.
In my eyes ETH was crypto-fiat. Crypto currency was going to give an alternative to fiat.  And if i have anything to do with it, it will still.

Yes we do need a good team from top to bottom.  However; until then "we need to do for ourselves

We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind. Mind is your only ruler, sovereign. The man who is not able to develop and use his mind is bound to be the slave of the other man who uses his mind….” Marcus Garvey, Nova Scotia, October 1937.

SO.....

What about a Competition to build dapps?  ETH Prize.
Anyone want to pledge prize money I.E. sponsor a Competition?
Anyone want judge a Competition?
Anyone want to run a Competition?
Anyone want to WIN a Competition?

@MalReynolds  are you going to help?  Give some ETC?  Make a dapp?  Teach Smart Contracts?

633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 03, 2016, 03:06:54 PM
Ok, time for me to post the "stupid question of the day".  I just downloaded the Mist Wallet software and installed it on a machine.  After the Bitfinex fiasco yesterday I want to make sure I have only what is needed on the exchanges.  How do I validate or check that my wallet is on the correct chain before I transfer my ETC out?

http://fork.ethstats.net/  Check you have the correct block number #2002840    at time of posting
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 03, 2016, 02:23:32 PM
@tylerderden  Yes we do have 12 year old people that post on this forum.  I am not sure if that is permitted but you know, that people will find a way.  They have gaming machines but the law in the West forbids them to do paid work.  However, if they have I.T. skills they can make coin, they make money.

Look at some of the newbie posts that sound like they ask a question only a child would ask?  These are the next generation of coders and miners.

Also think this, we have had children arrested in the UK because they "Hacked" in to governments systems
REF:-  http://thehackernews.com/2016/02/fbi-hacker-arrest.html

I want ethereum classic to be used by everyone.  I don't want it to exclude and divide.  I don't want to lose the next generation of computer genius and drive them to stuff that will get them locked up.  I want Housewifes, teenagers, people who feel that no one listens.  Bring your skills into the light.

So you are welcome here but please please please, can we try keep the language a little, just a little less vulgar.  You will be listened to.

This is different kind of coin.

Warm wishes

Paula

Although It is important that we have pool stability in our mining,  I must warn about everyone all using the most populated pools.
If we all mine in one place then we leave ourselves open to easy attack.

These are the pools listed on the front page of this thread.

https://etc.bw.com
https://f2pool.com
http://ethc.epool.io
http://pool.ethereumclassic.com
https://ethc.coin-miners.info
http://etc.nanopool.org
https://etcpool.io
https://etc.suprnova.cc
https://minergate.com
http://etc.coinpool.biz =  650 - 1.2 GH/s
http://www.ethteam.com
http://etc.poolto.be
http://yolo.ethclassic.faith
https://ethereum-classic.miningpoolhub.com
http://etc.coinpool.biz
https://www.coinotron.com
http://etc.digger.ws

Total Network Hashrate = ~1000 GH/s

@bitpop, do we know how the hashrate is distributed across these pools?

@poolowners, post your hashrate so we can make a quick list?

@miners, post your pools hashrate and give comments / marks out of ten on stability?

@helpers of ETC, is there anyone that can make ETC a hashrate pie chart of hashrate/pool distribution like this one for bitcoin...... https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/pools

Remember, “Power is held by those those who own and control the means of production” Karl Marx
If you mine Ethereum Classic you own a proportion of the means of production of Ethereum Classic,

So lets get organised people and defend this coin.

etc.coinpool.biz

650 - 1.2 GH/s

GetworkPort: 7788
Stratum upto 300 MH/s : 7887
Stratum above 300MH/s : 8778

Full Nicehash support !
ethminer -SP1, eth-proxy and ether-proxy support !

I see a lot of posts speculating on what the “Hacker/s” are going to do when it is not publicly know which side they are rooting for yet.
Moreover:  There is no reason to assume that the “Hacker/s” are not inside agents of the organisations, companies and foundations involved.  The Mt Gox hack had inside connections as did the shapeshift hot wallet hack.  There could also be government agents, and / or representatives of terrorist and / or political organisations or banksters involved here.
Lets not rule ANYTHING out!

One thing is for sure. “SOMEONE” has levelled the playing  field for all coins and EVERYONE is a suspect until more is known.

I know people may be excited, worried, fearful... but it would be helpful to us all, if the wild speculation was confined to the discussion threads as this thread is aimed at making Announcements.  If we all aim to adhere to this policy, I am sure that as soon as there is any concrete evidence or news, it will be posed here for all to find easily.

Speculation / theories that can be backed by references are welcome.  If you have stories or any news, you need to be able to corroborate your posts.

But lets make it clear....  Nobody knows what anyone will do next, myself included.  Well at least until the dust settles a little after all this crypto carnage.

If you want to help, please try persuade eth miners to mine etc, however, refrain from public aggression.  Lets show ethereum that Ethereum Classic has the moral high ground.

Warm wishes People!  Smiley

It does not say on myeither.com which chain they are on when you create a wallet.. How do we know it is Classic?
Thanks!

Generate your wallet and then open it.  There are loads of HOW-TOs on the net.
Once it is open then you can choose.
639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC is now 3rd crypto marketcap in the world!!! on: August 02, 2016, 06:09:49 PM
Nobody cares.  It's 90% fake volume and price prop up.

Apparently a lot of people care. Im sorry that you are still in denial about ETC, but it is very real. You ETH guys have been in denial since day 1 and you are now starting to come into terms as more and more people go from ETH to ETC. Nobody wants to run smart contracts in a blockchain that can hard fork over lost funds. Isn't it obvious how dumb that is?

Who wants to run smart contacts? Where are the applications? One guy selling 50 W of solar power in Brooklyn? For all the hype, I don't remember seeing much in the way of applications.

I'm not a fan of ETH due to the distribution model and promise to fork to PoS (and now hard fork stuff too), but I'm not really a fan of ETC either since it inherits ETH distribution (plus hacker has 10%), and I just don't see the application ecosystem developing for either fork.

It seems way overhyped and overpriced for having delivered almost nothing useful besides on chain provably fair ponzis, afaik.

But hey, I'm usually wrong, so you guys should probably go all in Cheesy

That is because the leadership was centralised in eth.

There will be calm after the storm.  That's when the real work starts.  You won't get much out of people at the moment.  Emotions are high, people fear uncertainty.  But it will settle.  Feel free to contribute to the Etherum Classic experience on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559630.0

But yes, you are right, we will all feel better when we are engaged in meaningful activityWink
