I don't understand why a player of the class of Alphonso Davies could fail to convert the penalty opportunity given by the referee into a goal for Canada, maybe his mentality as a Canadian player is very different from when he played for Bayern Munich. In this second half maybe we won't see any additional goals or at least there will be 1 additional goal from Belgium, there will be no more chance for Canada to rise. What do you think?
Even the greatest footballers of all time like Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane, etc all missed penalties, no player is sure of converting a penalty everytime, some score more times than they miss, but there must come a time that they won't score, and it is normal. Davies didn't score because the goalkeeper guessed the right way and made the save, it has nothing to do with his mentality, he isn't a penalty specialist, i don't even think he has taken so many in his career, he does not take penalties for Bayern Munich too. There were no additional goals in the match by the way, Batshuayi's 44th minute strike was what separated the teams when the referee blew his final whistle.
Alphonso Davies is an experienced forward who should have helped changed the status of Canada who have not scored a single goal in the world cup history. If He was able to score Canada would have gotten their first ever point in the world cup and would have been something to celebrate. He is a game maker in Bayern i was expecting the Davies of Bayern to make things happen in Canada. He should be able to strengthen and motivate the team

643  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accumulation phase is out!? on: November 21, 2022, 11:36:22 PM
I totally agree with your thinking, I think chart analysis to predict bitcoin price doesn't work. Bitcoin not only depends on supply and demand but bitcoin also depends on a lot of factors and sometimes most of it is manipulated or made in price by some influential actors in the market. Just a tweet from Elon or CZ the market will immediately react, chart analysis becomes useless. We can analyze charts, sharks can too and they are people with money, they can manipulate the price to their liking.
Chart patterns do work but its best effect is on short term plans. Supply and demand still play out on chart pattern movement where we find major support and resistance area. It is just that chart pattern traders just need to pay more attention to fundamental news so the don't get cut up by sudden events that can shift the direction of the market or cause more drastic move in the current direction.

Why the heck isn't the United States one of the possibilities in the Poll question?!  I am just kidding lol, I am well aware that my county has no chance when it comes to winning the World Cup and likely never will have a chance being that soccer (what we call it here) is not even in the top 3 for sports popularity so our best athletes mostly play other sports.

However I am super excited about the Cup this year.  I wish the US could have pulled off a win instead of that tie they took this afternoon.
The US had the first half under full control and i expected the would have more goals so the make it difficult for Wales in the second half to do a comeback but the were only able to net just one goal in the first half and the second half Wales struggled for the tie. Between US and Wales one will have to join England at the end of the group stage and it might likely be Wales because US team has the skills though not strong enough to defeat England but Wales has the craftmanship to get a tie with England and win against Iran.
645  Economy / Economics / Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan accepts their loss on: November 21, 2022, 10:36:57 PM
One of the largest Pension plans in the world situated at Canada the Ontario Teachers' Pension plans has written off the total Investment the have pilled up in the collapsed/bankrupt FTX exchange in their report the suggested it will be treated as potential fraud

The pension giants writes off $95 million invested in the bankrupt crypto exchange but expresses their complete disappointment after the  affected exchange filled for bankruptcy protection. Their total worth in asset under management (AUM) is over $250 million. The financial loss from the investment will have little or no effect on the plan as reported by the Ontario Teachers'

Quote
"The financial loss from this investment will have limited impact on the Plan, given its size relative to our total net assets and our strong financial position," said Ontario Teachers'. "However, we are disappointed with the outcome of this investment, take all losses seriously and will use this experience to further strengthen our approach."
.

This is not the first time large large Canadian Pension plan got affected by crypto-related issues.
Quote
This isn't the first time a large Canadian pension fund got caught up in the crypto-related contagion. This past August, Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec – with more than $300 billion in AUM – wrote down its entire $150 million investment in failed crypto lender Celsius Network.

If there were no reserve funds from Ontario it would have been a lost investment for this retirees and there are other hidden stories of start-up pension plans that invested in crypto through various networks and got either scammed or lost their investment for various reasons. I wish there will be good sensitisation for the aged on how best to save their investment to avoid being a victim of future exchange crash, because this might have some negative image about Bitcoin when brought up to the victims of this plans

This new features on Telegrams that can divide chats into topics seems good enough for an idea such as this. The goal is promoting Bitcoin and making it gain more popularity not minding where it is done be it here, offline or any reputable social media as long has orderliness and proper co-ordination is ensured and ensuring scammers and spammers are hunted down.

There are lots of newbies who signed up to this very forum and left due to the fact the could not navigate the forum properly and out of frustration abandoned their accounts. It could be a way of presenting an alternative incase this seems difficult the try out the other. Then have a way of linking it up to Bitcointalk forum.

648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin can be centralised or decentralised on: November 19, 2022, 09:12:31 AM
Mr A has bitcoin, wanted to send to Mr B, that should be in a transaction which require miner to include the transaction in a block. If they use a centralized exchange or a custodial wallet, all what that would be done by the exchange or wallet is to just edit the number and no transaction occur on blockchain. So those are not about bitcoin.
What do you mean by editing the numbers? Does it mean if Mr A who owns the Bitcoin and decides to send some to Mr B using centralised exchange will not have their transaction  on the blockchain?.
649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin can be centralised or decentralised on: November 19, 2022, 08:42:38 AM
I'm not 100% sure if I totally get what you're trying to say, but you're probably getting mixed up between centralized/decentralized and custodial/non-custodial.
Most custodial wallets are web based exchanges. I believe in layman terms non-custodial means not having custody and in crypto it means been in full possession of one's private key. Like solely responsible for ones coin.
650  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin can be centralised or decentralised on: November 19, 2022, 08:25:17 AM
It depends on how the owner treats it. I was really pondering on this and decided to share to know what others feel about this. If Bitcoin is preferably kept in Centralised exchange i think it is no longer decentralised to the owner because the don't have the keys to unlock and spend their coin but rather the rely on this third party intermediaries who decide how much the are eligible to transfer depending on their KYC verification level.

I believe private keys is what makes every Bitcoin owner decentralised not just the coin itself so if CEX is preferred over DEX and hardware wallets specifically open sourced wallets then the idea of centralised slavery is what should be dealt with. The fear of misplacing seed phrase and private keys is still a big concern to many who believe they are careless with storing and keeping important datas.

In my opinion if decentralisation were to be a coin then no matter where it is stored it should be accessible no matter what happens, even if the exchange fails. But because it is dependent on where the coin is stored then it is what the coin owner makes of it. It is decentralised for non-custodial wallets holders as the can always prove the coins are theirs anytime and centralised for custodial wallet holders because the can only access their funds if the are well verified and provided the exchange hasn't collapsed.
651  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin is the only crypto you should BUY on: November 19, 2022, 07:54:17 AM
We are really seeing more and more reason why centralised systems is never an option for the present society because of the high rate at which coins fail due to diverse reasons and not just coins alone but also top exchanges . Bitcoin remains the ultimate choice for the sake of peace, guarantee and long term profit but with Tether anything can happen because its centralised it should be treated the same way altcoins are which is with extreme caution because nothing is safe in a centralised system not even the system itself.
652  Other / Politics & Society / Bitcoin is gradually changing how we live on: November 19, 2022, 07:26:48 AM
It might not be too obvious at the moment but the impact of Bitcoin on the society is felt as the day goes by. This changes is not only limited to the financial sector but it is cutting across the general lifestyle of human existence making impact on the academic, social, technological and the traditional society.

Just the same way technology and the web 2 made so much adjustment in different cultures and tradition across the world. Bitcoin and crypto is gradually making more changes and in due time the trustless society might become another history. It might not solely revolve around Bitcoin but its concept will be a powerful building block to bring in a society everyone dreams of.

653  Economy / Speculation / Re: Generational Buying Period is On-Going on: November 18, 2022, 11:45:14 PM
It is dangerous waiting any further. Buying at this price is really fair enough and a chance to meet up with some good profit during the bull run. Instead of waiting any further for price to drop below this which is still under strong probability i will rather buy as much as i can now have some reserve incase it dips further then catch up with that as well that way there will be nothing to lose because the next bull run will be so massive.
654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do what is right to be happy on: November 18, 2022, 11:00:28 PM
FTX has taught so much lesson to the crypto community. A friend told me why he preferred having his coin on CEX is because of the ease and low cost of swapping coins on CEX compared to DEX not minding the high risk involved some persons might just have to witness this collapse of top exchanges then become victims themselves before  the will decide on avoiding CEXs.

Some altcoin will still survive the bear market but shitcoin definitely won't the bear market will wash off the noisy projects,  to keep it simple for non technical or fundamental analysts Bitcoin comes with rest of mind and good peace
655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Qatar bribed 8 players from Ecuador for the opening match on: November 18, 2022, 10:28:24 PM
This is mere allegation until there is more evidence to the names of the Ecuador players who were bribed including concrete evidence because it could be a fabricated story framed by Newspaper publishers to destroy the reputation of Qatar. But if this proves to be true then Qatar will be at high risk of never hosting the world cup again for a very long time, if not forever. I will have to avoid betting on the opening game.
656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: November 18, 2022, 10:08:24 PM
It is very clear that Paris Saint Germain's main goal is to bring in a lot of star players because they want to win the Champions League trophy. But so far their plans have not worked out so well and they are still having trouble making it happen. I won't be surprised when in the transfer market they bring in Cristiano Ronaldo to join them. They don't care about the money they will spend to get the players they want. But keep in mind that money does not guarantee to bring them a title.

There are still people who believe that Ronaldo can be a part of PSG in January but I don't think so. Because it wouldn't be a sensible move for PSG. First of all, they aren't in need of another attacker now. Mbappe - Messi - Neymar trio are already more than enough for them. Let's say that they would think of a substitute striker for Mbappe. Even then Ronaldo shouldn't be their choice. Because he is another big player who shouldn't be waiting in the subs.

In case he comes he would be like an alternative player to one of these players. I don't think that he can play more effective than any of them as all of them are having a very productive season now.
Mbappe plays better than Ronaldo now because Ronaldo is declining in age and Messi will not be benched just for him to play. PSG don't need to add to their existing trouble by signing another star player who is of the same rating with what the currently have in their squad. Ronaldo can't afford to be a substitute just like what he has been reduced to at Manchester United and he will have a big issue taking his favourite number 7 has Mbappe will not be willing to relinquish it.
657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: November 18, 2022, 09:24:38 PM
Barcelona have a good chance to finish their missing for the La Liga title this season. As you might be knowing already, they have haven't been able to win the title for three seasons straight. They are finally performing strongly thanks to Xavi's arrival. Koeman's Barcelona were just a mess back in the day. It was one of the best decisions Barcelona made in the recent years.

I'm also aware of their weakness in big matches. But this is like this only against Real Madrid for now in the league. As long as they become more consistent in the rest of the matches than Real Madrid, they are still closer to the title on paper.

This season Barcelona has shown improvement, Xavi has done his job properly. But to speak the title I still doubt it. Having a two-point lead over Real Madrid certainly doesn't make them safe. In my opinion, Ancelotti doesn't really think that something bad has happened to his team, but Los Blancos' troops are still very confident in La Liga and they will again take the top spot from Barcelona.
And i don't think it will be easy for the Los Blancos either. All i see is a fierce battle between the two long lasting rivals. This will be a challenge for Xavi to bring the Laliga trophy back to Camp Nou, It will be a struggle to end the three season without a title. Even if Real Madrid ends up winning the season again it won't be as easy as it was last season where the won the league with 13 points ahead of Barcelona.
658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Must it be the last game? on: November 17, 2022, 05:33:52 PM
Gambling is still a game of luck and chance. Many gamblers have been lucky to have multi-bet played to their favour. I think this last game cutting off winning games happen more often because Soccer games are so unpredictable, the reason we will see a game that should have been an easy win for big clubs end in a draw or loss.

To do away with last games cutting off winning games is to cash-out the win that has been recorded and do away with the last game. It will be better to to have something than to lose everything
659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: November 17, 2022, 05:09:41 PM
The success and failure of a team to win the Champions League trophy is not due to having many star players in their squad. I prefer to say a team that wins a trophy is a team that is able to work together well and don't panic easily when their position is under pressure.

PSG and Manchester City have always been on the list of favourites, but in reality these two teams have yet to win the UCL title.
The weakness of PSG and Manchester City is not that there are many star players in their squad, but that they are unable to control their emotions when they are in a pressured position, which makes their entire plan fall apart.

When they won the UCL trophy, almost the entire Real Madrid squad was filled with star players, from goalkeepers to strikers. So to become a champion, it is not only necessary to have the strength of a team, the mentality and enthusiasm of the players are also a factor in the success of a team.

I don't see PSG has a club with emotional issues rather i think they are always overzealous and too self confident not as a team but individually this has been the key reason the get knocked out easily. Manchester City might have that issues of controlling their emotions when been pressured by big teams just like what happened last season when the lost to Real Madrid in the UCL. As it stands i doubt if Pep has been able to deal with that, many believe Haaland inclusion in the squad will bring improvement and balance to the club and also help them win the UCL this season the round of 16 will decide who moves on to the round of 8 where the journey of the Champions will begin.
660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 17, 2022, 04:45:49 PM
But I little doubt with Haaland performance after World Cup over keep consistent or not based on his national team not participant on World Cup, actually one month later without any competition yet Haaland need take care with his performance.
I'm actually see he is benefited because his country's national team  not playing in the World Cup, at least he can rest a bit from the tight competition and be fresher when the league returns to competition and also away from the injuries he might experience if he plays in the WC considering he will be a targeted player for guarded not to score a goal.
It's true that Erling Haaland will have a long and comfortable resting place while enjoying the World Cup, so I don't think this will reduce Haaland's performance because he doesn't participate in this competition, he will definitely stay fit and maintain stable stamina to return to the Premier League even after the world cup is over the second week the league starts, of course this will be very hard for other players because they are chasing targets that must be played non-stop.
I never had any doubts for Haaland because he will be consistently scoring goals again in the Premier League with Manchester City.
One month of rest won't be enough to change a players performance and besides nothing stops Haaland from training at Etihad Stadium while he waits for the world cup to end. He will be more fit with stronger stamina and renewed energy because there will be no room for injuries and fatigue as he will only rely on solo exercise and trainings.

As for Haalands scoring consistency i will say ManCity is becoming so unpredictable i don't know what will become of Haaland's consistency in scoring more goals for ManCity but one thing is sure he will be more contributive when the season returns from the world cup.
