641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for Micronations on: May 03, 2015, 08:55:59 AM
Most of these so called micronations do not even have a status recognized as sovereign countries much less declared as independent state. And to top it, size of economy is too small and unless you are talking about economic powerhouse , it's not going to make much difference whether bitcoin is the official currency or otherwise.
642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi still have plans to access his coins? on: May 03, 2015, 08:46:32 AM
In the first place we don't know what happened to satoshi and neither do we know what's his plan in the future. Probably at the moment he just wants to stay low profile but when the right time comes when the bitcoin has gone mainstream he will need to use that again. Right now, we can continue to guess what's his intention.
643  Economy / Economics / Re: let's develop cryptocurrency economic theory on: May 03, 2015, 03:59:47 AM
Well in bitcoin you don't have banks, fiscal policy, GDP, debt (there is?), taxes, so at least over here in bitcoin things are easier to understand apart from the supply and demand factor, mining, investment. So it works kind of different as generally you don't have the reserve bank to set the policy and comes with it all the bunch of economic terms.
644  Economy / Economics / Re: If Greece defaults on: May 03, 2015, 03:50:12 AM
Unfortunately, it seems all of Varoufakis tricks are coming to an end. Tsipras has decreased his authority and now he will not be the main negotiator in the eurogroup.

Yes, just read this one:

http://greece.greekreporter.com/2015/05/01/varoufakis-tells-attack-witness-he-might-be-expelled-from-greek-government/

“If you know that the system is rotten, why don’t you do something to change it?,” an anarchist asked Varoufakis to get a stunning reply.

“It’s not possible, simply. This is the current system, I tried, but I failed. It’s impossible,” admitted the Greek Finance minister according to the witness.

It obviously takes more than just a single person to make the change even though that person holds the authority or power to decide the monetary policy. You know the system is rotten and the only thing they can do right now is to patch up a leak and open up another new hole in the process. It's destined to be doomed.
645  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin isn't a volatile asset. It is something else entirely. on: May 03, 2015, 03:39:39 AM
There is no stopping as long as there is human civilization in existence. We need economy running and fiat is there for us but looking at all its weaknesses that can easily be manipulated, we have bitcoin as the alternative option. And greed is the fuel that will keep all these moving.
646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who would like better PHYSICAL storage? on: May 03, 2015, 03:34:13 AM
You can engrave your private key on a metal plate if you want to but there's always a better option such as using a hardware wallet. Works as great as a paper wallet, the only downside is you have to pay for it. I already have one with me right now and good thing is you don't need third party services as it already have its own built-in program to guide you through.
647  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will be less than 100$ by the end of the year on: May 02, 2015, 08:51:51 AM
For it to drop until that low will need some considerable selling pressure to force it down. Unless there is some oversupply going on, I don't see it happening anytime soon. Another reason I would say is that, most people think that 100 is a fair price to pay for a bitcoin, so even if it did fall to 100, it definitely won't remain there for long as people would immediately buy whatever amount they can at that bargain price.
648  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price continue downtrend, New Low in Q2 2015 on: May 02, 2015, 08:48:37 AM
If you look carefully at the chart right before willybot started manipulating the price it was somewhere at the 200 range. Assuming that there is no growth within that period until now, we should see that by right 200 is the level where the support should be. Coupled with the halving expected for next year, we ought to see at least a good chance the price will hold at this range.
649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Purchased a 10,000 BTC PUT option today, history has been made on: May 02, 2015, 08:18:02 AM
I wonder what would happen if the coin price moves in the other direction. I'm sure you have all the plans put in place in case the result did not turn out as what you expected? By the way, just wondering where did you manage to secure that amount of funding? Kind of curious since that is not small amount by any means.
650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Great variance in market cap lists on: May 02, 2015, 08:10:09 AM
Is the figure on market cap really that important as in the case of bitcoin? Market capitalization does not necessarily represent the actual value of each coin. If you decide to liquidate all the coins to fiat at the same time, I'm sure you will not get the exact value for all. It's more towards representation of the size rather than it's worth.

To answer your question, market cap generally means multiplying the average value of the coins and the number of coins taken into calculation at that time. Thus different value in either one of these will give you a varying number when you make the calculation.
651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much and why do you admire Satoshi's work? on: May 02, 2015, 07:43:25 AM
More important, before bitcoin came along we have no choice but to live with fiat and banks. He's obviously a genius and visionary because after witnessing the economic mess that happened in 2007, he were able to come up with a solution that practically bypasses the control by banks and government. Something nobody would have thought of in the first place.
652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Selling your bitcoins together with the wallet.dat and privkeys. on: May 02, 2015, 07:39:28 AM
If I'm the buyer I would be reluctant to participate in the trade. What guarantee would I have have, that in the event after paying you the money, you would not transfer out all the btc contained in the address since you also maintain a copy of the private key? It's still sounds more logical that in whatever scenario, it would still be best to use an escrow service.
653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin wallet that gives interest upon deposit? on: May 02, 2015, 07:32:47 AM
For all I know they are using the fund to perform arbitrage trading and whatever profit will be returned back to the account. These type of trading method require huge amount of fund scattered everywhere in different exchangers to take advantage of the spread during high volatility. So, it's like an investment option but with higher risk. Imagine if the owner run away with all the btc or on another scenario, they were not able to pay you back. You have to consider all these.
654  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bold statement: Next target is low ~$700s (Awaiting scream of laughter) on: May 02, 2015, 02:14:19 AM
It will be more interesting if you can accompany that with chart and some analysis rather than telling it's from your gut feeling. As I always believe things unimaginable is possible in bitcoin and even when you least expect it to happen, it will surprises you. Right now, looking at the trading volume and order book, I don't think the current condition will change for now.
655  Economy / Economics / Re: Negative interest rates put world on course for biggest mass default in history on: May 02, 2015, 02:08:38 AM
One thing that seems to amaze me is that these things can actually go on for a very long time. It's like a bubble getting bigger and bigger and still it is holding on and will continue to grow. Even though when the risk is there, they seem to control it very well. That's for now. But I can imagine when this collapses, it will bring everything down for sure.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: The End of Money As We Know It - Full documentary Trailer on: May 02, 2015, 02:01:34 AM
That will be a very long time before that happen and IF that actually happens in the first place. I foresee fiat existing alongside with bitcoin for now and slowly the each and every market section would be one by one overtaken by bitcoin. The question is whether would that become a reality some day.
657  Other / Off-topic / Re: do girls use bitcoin to buy makeup on: May 02, 2015, 01:45:24 AM
If you give the bitcoin foc for them, I'm sure yes they will. But too bad, I haven't come across any store that actually sells beauty product and which you can pay with bitcoin. As I always say, this is one area bitcoin needs to improve on, the group of people who are spenders and they are not even fully exposed to bitcoin.
658  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin at or below spot on: May 02, 2015, 12:17:07 AM
Well generally no exchanger would offer to sell coins at below or spot price. As for individuals you would have to be careful though if you get an offer that is too good. Unless it's a desperate situation something like that. You could still put up a buy order at exchangers though, it's just that you need to have the patience.
659  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stay away from bitcoin ! on: May 01, 2015, 12:50:09 PM
The more i read about this type of topic the more inclined i am to buy more of the coins. This shows people see bitcoin as a threat to the point that they are willing to say or do anything to see bitcoin fails. Say anything you want fudsters, bitcoin is here to stay
660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin actually ready to go mainstream? on: May 01, 2015, 11:38:02 AM
If it is not ready then the question is when will it be ready? I think we should be more worried about bitcoin getting accepted and going mainstream than the other way round. Or either way both should be moving parallel where the infrastructure and code improvement can be done along the way and at the same time promoting and bringing bitcoin to the masses.
