641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People who buy mining equipment on ebay, are they CRAZY? on: January 16, 2018, 11:07:59 PM
Mining itself is not profitable of late as in the inception of bitcoins. I wonder why individuals still invest in such hardware which comes with a huge cost of electricity and pool fees.

I am (was until today) making close to $800/mo w an S9. Electrical ran about $257 so I still netted a profit.

Check the calculator. It is not 800 a month now buddy

What u mean is not profitable lately? It is but it wasnt gonna last. As seen an expected now. The spike caused a craze though
643  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin headed to $100,000 in 2018 on: January 16, 2018, 08:44:41 PM
I doubt it can move that fast. The main spurt was in 2017. That was too fast. Now, a slow consolidation first before any possible upside imo.
644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / People who buy mining equipment on ebay, are they CRAZY? on: January 16, 2018, 08:40:45 PM
Those prices make no sense.

Do they realize that the spot profitability will definitely last for more than a few weeks and it will go down to normal levels. Those people will never breakeven.

Also, it seems alot more people think they can run this equipment at home without proper a proper setup? The setting up cost is pretty costly too...especially if u need to remove the noise.
This year will see other manufacturers like avalon and ebit churn out new stronger bitcoin miners. It is not just bitmain anymore.
This is without adding the risk that new stronger chips from manufacturers appearing...and making old models earn less or obsolete.

Furthermore, mining was profitable in 2017 only because bitcoin went up 14 times. That wont be happening in 2018. Btc mkt cap at 200 billion right now, is not gonna go to 2800 billion lol. If total crypto mkt cap goes up by 14x, it would be more than gold valuation as well, again not possible in a year....

Those news companies are pumping crazy hype and belieft into new miners via their news articles??
645  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Difficulty Increase what's going on ? on: January 16, 2018, 02:26:00 PM
Hello,

I just checked the difficulty and it seems to increase a lot lately.

What is the reason behind this?

At this rate and if the price doesn't increase an s9 will not be much profitable by the summer....

I'm struggling whether I should invest in a dozen of S9 but things are not so motivating now compare to sept/oct when i first look into it.

Thanks for your insights.

The profitability is going back to more normal rates. It was abnormal back then.

IF ONLY there was a chart on past profitability, that would make people open their eyes more. Currently, people can only see current spot profitability and so they grab gear and believe that the rate will be at this level or close to it for a long time. Well, not the case.
This is why we see the high ebay prices and mad rush for gear imo.
646  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 16, 2018, 02:22:02 PM
Well at least it does seem real. and maybe I will get some for april.

I will post a review and a youtube if I can get them.

It is supposed to be a different chip  and be more efficient .  75- 80 days and we will find out.

For the first time since they announced... I feel at ease about it. I hope to get some in April as well. Can't wait to see some reviews and folks actually hashing with them. Despite all the madness and heartburn in this thread... one thing is for certain: the competition in this market is desperately needed, and for that reason along I'd support these guys.

Bitmain warranty aka myrig.com. Is one of two reasons that I still use asics.

I only have 3 s9s,

I have no other asics.  Myrig has done multiple repairs with decent service.

I have a lot of gpus far more then my s9s.
I think I need to send in two dead s9 boards this week.
1 from a new 14th miner

1 from a old batch 1 miner.

And I may have lost a full s9 at the solar array

Which would mean 5 dead boards and four good boards. Of the three I have left.

I thought u had a good amount of S9s running for over a year plus with minimal issues?

Hmm still unsure of halong. In any case, if halong/bitmain/ebit/avalon churn out bitcoin miners this year, difficulty is going to go through the roof. Btc isnt likely to rise 14x from this price like it did in 2017. That price increase kept mining profitable. At current 220 billion mkt cap at 13k usd per btc, a 14x increase would mean bitcoin needs to be 182k per bitcoin...in a year. The mkt cap would then be 3080 billion. That just isnt happening in a year for bitcoin, imo. Bitcoin mining may not be so good this year if this churning occurs.

Btc mining profitability just dropped like 30-40% compared from its month ago peak...and that is without halong and the stronger new units of avalon.

Just my 2 cents
i have two batch ones one fully works

One is down to one board

And a dec  tenth

14 th with 2 good boards

Six good boards one three units

I see. Kinda weird how the batch one seem to work better. Thats 1.5 years back.

Hmmm with btc price dropping now, profitability dropped further and for some reason mining difficulty still jumps further sigh.

Hmmm i am wondering if i should stake or not now. Any tips? Currently, mine is in an exchange.
649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I had to reboot my antminer D3 about 3 times in the last 7 days on: January 16, 2018, 04:23:14 AM
Ok, upgraded to latest D3 firmware and all is good so far. Hopefully, it will be ok in the next few days.
Do note that at the firmware upgrade, below it, there is a message saying that the upgrade solves the miner stopping issue. So far, so good Smiley
650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LINDA-PoW/PoS-99% APR- MASTERNODE-MULTI-WALLET ( NEW THREAD) on: January 13, 2018, 03:59:26 AM
So, how much is needed for staking? What are the returns for staking roughly?
651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I had to reboot my antminer D3 about 3 times in the last 7 days on: January 12, 2018, 05:32:57 AM
No. I am using stock firmware? Would latest firmware help? I will try upgrade.

It was not like this before. I wonder what changed. I worry it wasnt manufactured too well. It is new after all.
The rest of my antminers working fine though. I pray the march ones will be ok
652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / I had to reboot my antminer D3 about 3 times in the last 7 days on: January 12, 2018, 03:24:53 AM
And this time it showed 2 hashboards down. Should I be worried?

Is this a bad sign of things to come? It is running around 65 degrees now.
My other machines are all fine though
653  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 10, 2018, 11:07:16 AM
I got email saying available, but when I viewed web page it wasn't possible to buy even thou it still said available.
WHAT THE?Huh

Use another browser ...

first thing I tried but same.
I tweeted them and they replied 'sold out'.

I'm starting to think I'll win the lottery before I can buy a miner  Angry Undecided
I know they sell out fast but this is beyond crazy.

Yeah. Seems to be sold out.
Well 1000 orders in 12 hours I know. (24 hours it was online ...)
Each order min. 5x ...
They sold 5000 to 10.000 pcs I guess - maybe even more if people are as crazy like me Tongue

just to let everyone know how this went down for me.

I view web site and said 'unavailable' so I clicked 'waitlist'
A few seconds later I received email saying 'back in stock' so I immediately clicked it where it said 'available' but no button to purchase.
I tweeted them and they said 'sold out'.

This all happen in a few seconds.
I'm finding it all a bit hard to believe like they're playing a joke on me.

Anyone else experience this?

I am NOT trying to be an asshole by writing this but:

IF IT is a scam:

This means they are "on their way out". Their telegram have a few hundred people only. They are not that popular or hot...how does it sell out so fast when it didnt before zzzz.

I suspect they sold very little or most probably sold nothing this round. They juz pretend to sell. Thats why u cant buy....to delay things as they cashout the money in fiat. They dont want more "buyers" complaining later.

I used to speculate on hyips back then. The only HYIPs that get investigated are the really popular ones with alot of victims like 12dailypro,etc.
Thus, by limiting the amount of victims, it should be unlikely to be investigated.

As for blame;

Scott - juz an admin, not even a sales rep (as he says) not his fault. (I have nothing against u buddy)
Adam back -he can claim to be a victim...true or not, no one knows
Btcdrak - no one knows who this fellow is. His real name, etc. He is anonymous and can dissapear. There is some reddit thread about him creating an alt coin for easy money in the past... we do not know if that is true or not
Slushpool - they already mention they do not endorse it and they sort of retract their initial statement. They are also not sure. The vid was done in their office but they arent sure how legit it is either...(if there was another machine running on that worker while it was in the office)

And by april, these people would be gone and probably feel they have covered their tracks well. No investigation done as victims are not too many....only so many voices are complaining. If they sold 1 unit per person, they may have 5 times more victims and those voices may actually reach the ears of authorities. Thus, it is smart to have 1000+ orders on a single person, if possible. More money in the bank, only 1 more voice complaining.

Also the webbie terms kinda says they are not responsible if things go wrong haha. Futuee halong mining sales should be open and closed very fast also i would think. Hmmm in april, they might delay things more and may and then maybe june, etc.

--------------------
And IF halong is not a scam:

Then, it is juz plain weird they way they act and I can go eat my shoes lol.
654  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: move our mining maschines to Europe on: January 09, 2018, 07:38:38 PM
Right , we have 100000 machine ready to leave, right now the Chinese government did not ban bitcoin mining , but put some regulations on the companies, i guess it is just a matter of time to completely ban mining bitcoin . The capacity we need is 150000KW/H .BTW I am not really new here , but i lost my previous account because of password leaking incident back years ago. and I cannot get it back right now  Undecided have to get a new one.

Thats great number. If you have a friends in london check with them for the location buddy. I am sure many development side working from UK so if you find the location there you can able to make the decent profit any like you get there.
Nigeria and Uganda is cheaper electricity even the cost expensive to make the set up also very cheaper than any location in the world bro. I hope my suggestion is reasonable to you.

I am pretty sure nigeria isnt a safe place for such things.

Sandal_Hat,

I have not been given permission to divulge further information about the DragonMint at this time.

If I had it my way, every 4.5 - 5.0 star member of this forum would get their own free miner to review, but I'm strictly a pawn in this game. I don't have that kind of sway at Halong.

Like I've said before... come to Brookfield, Wisconsin, USA (20 minutes West of the city of Milwaukee) and I'll be happy to show you some units currently in action. My phone number is +1-262-844-5773. I have a few demos lined up for the next couple of weeks already. If you're looking to by 1000+ units, I'd be happy to have you in my town, show you the miner and perhaps go out for drinks after and all be happy together.

Scott O.

I apologize for expressing my frustration in an angry manne and demeaning some users. I was frustrated with the terminology thatthe ‘reviewers’ were using to label this product. I think there is a need for them to clean up and standardize their nomenclature so that it’s fair for everyone involved.

- Proven
- Unproven
- Possible Scam
- Absolute Scam

Etc.

Know what I mean?

My gut still leans towards not believing. This whole way of doing things just seems too weird for me. However, best of luck to those that try this. I will try not to post. I dont want to get heat from Scott.
It was not my intention to argue with Scott. I juz state my gut, thats all. Peace Scott and best of luck people.

Kinda curious, wat are the regulations?

It is good that u are trying to find a place fast because the other chinese miners may do it soon too. U are going to have alot of competition and your kind of requirements are kinda hard to find.
658  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain mufflers/silencers on: January 07, 2018, 04:04:24 PM
I did soundproofing of a small room properly via rockwool and drywall. It cost quite alot though. I tried the silencer method in the past but it just doesnt work. Sound moves like water, any hole and it goes through. U gotta cover every part of it.
659  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free Electricity but very poor internet. on: January 07, 2018, 03:55:51 PM
I am actually on a ship so there is no possibility to have a wire connection.
( If we had a wire connection we would probably send the surplus electric power into the power grid but that is not a possibility.)

Did u think about the sound? It would be loud.
Are u an employee on a vessel? The engine room is a noisy place but it would be too hot to put it there.

I've been in touch with Scott and have made plans to visit him early this upcoming week - he's actually way closer to me than I originally thought.

I look forward to meeting Scott and checking out what he and Halong are all about!

As a disclaimer, I don't have any skin in this with Halong - I don't have any preorders with them nor have I been promised/offered anything at all. I've not known of Scott prior to this thread. I'm visiting Scott because of how close he is to me and my interest in the mining field. I've been mostly exclusive with Bitmain in my mining needs in the last few years.

Why has your account been inactive since 2015?

Holy shiat, u are right. Dimaze account is inactive since 2015. His next 3 posts after that are all in the halongmining thread....... and he is going to meet scott? U think this is a bought account?
Also, their local times are 6 hours apart. How is that possible if they live near each other??? I think can only be believable if a few reputable members visit scott??

Scott - I've reached out to you via text from my local number. I'm about 25 minutes from you and would love to meet up with you.

I've preordered tons of miners in the past -- from the first Avalon batch, theKNC Jupiters, to the most recent batches of S9s. Would love to see what Halong has in store!
