662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New National Radio ad on how to get Bitcoins with CASH!! on: September 13, 2011, 06:40:55 AM

how long do you expect Wells and Chase to allow this?

I have no idea,  so I would like to have a backup radio ad ready.  Any good ideas for the next one?

http://spendbitcoins.com of course. Smiley

You're great, I love your continual support of bitcoins and the bitcoin economy!

I still don't see the legitimacy in this service.
With all the transaction fees that've gone on the past 12 pages, I'm sure their starting to pile up.
Do share how you get around these? I mean, with BitCard, we offer the ammount you want and the small fee that's at the end covers shipping of an actual physical card.

Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Go Daddy & Fishpond pay us affiliate commissions for sending them business, so we are able to offer them at the actual exchange rate with no fees.

The "anything" page uses an exchange rate that covers our costs plus a profit.

What about zazzle.com? they say they do 15% for affiliates, plus you could make spendbitcoin.com t-shirts and get an extra cut if you affiliate linked to those.

They don't seem to have gift cards. You can, however, still purchase there from http://anything.spendbitcoins.com.

This doesn't say price itself matters, just that price stability matters.

Sometime the subtleties of the English language mean jack shit in the "real" world.

Point taken though.

This subtlety matters though. Some people claim bitcoin is doomed if the exchange rate drops any more. In reality, though, all that matters is that the price stabilises somewhere. Whether that's at 0.01 USD or $1000 USD makes little difference.

If you belive that Bitcoin is over and done with [...] send your Bitcoin to me 1APr8KyR379soKSCAciZJV2TKUnxnpxmPA .
Done.
You should have received a whopping 0.95 BTC. (It was all I had Smiley )

Wow. Now I want to start a thread like this. http://payb.tc/jeremy

Here's my issue:  I would like to order more of the things I buy day-to-day through your service with Amazon.  That way, the bitcoins I generate never have to get converted to money that touches my bank accounts.  I think you can understand why that's attractive. Wink  Anyway, I currently buy a good amount of stuff from Amazon already, so I have a Prime account.  If I use your affiliate link, can I still get the free shipping through my Prime account?

Yes. Everything is the same on Amazon for you. Just that by using my affiliate link Amazon knows I sent them the business and gives me a percentage.

Great. You just need to create a free account at http://classifieds.spendbitcoins.com and place your free ad from there.

This price of BTC is irrelevant to its function as a currency. If you believe it to have been an investment, that's your gamble.

As both a merchant and investor in the Bitcoin economy, the price DOES matter.

I am only exposing one of my 3 businesses to Bitcoin.

When the price was above $16 US, I offered 0.5 BTC per kg of my product (beef) (10% discount)
When the price was above $9 US, I offered 1 BTC per kg of my product

Today, I changed the price to 2 BTC per kg.
With a shit house derivatives market, I MUST keep changing my BTC price.  That pisses me off no end.

Personally, I think I BTC = 1KG of prime beef, but my bottom line will not take it.

The price discovery phase is still in motion and I expect something as radical and AWESOME as bitcoin will require at least another 6-9 months for the real trading to begin.
Around about March 2012 which almost ties in nicely with the reward reduction to 25BTC.

This doesn't say price itself matters, just that price stability matters.
672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you belive that Bitcoin is over and done with... on: September 11, 2011, 07:03:06 AM
Because it's irrelevant?

No man... it's not irrelevant...  it's the basis of the entire experiment.    If it falls to pennies or lower... it's game over for all of us...

I think you've misunderstood Bitcoin. Completely.

This price of BTC is irrelevant to its function as a currency. If you believe it to have been an investment, that's your gamble.

Freaking priceless and right on the money, errr Bitcoin  Grin

Tried using your amazon affiliate link for a small purchase I made yesterday. Any way to know if it actually worked?

Thanks for that! As long as you used the affiliate link to get to Amazon when you placed the item in the cart and did not click through to Amazon from any other affiliate link before checking out, it should have worked. If you want to be certain, you can PM me the details of the item you purchased and I can look it up.

Thanks again!

Happy spending!

oh oops I didn't go through your link until just before checkout, oops.

No worries. Safest bet to make sure we get credit is to always enter amazon et al through http://spendbitcoins.com. Everything is the same for you, but we get a cut for sending you. Don't forget to buy your kindle books this way too Smiley.

676  Other / Off-topic / A guy walks into a bar... on: September 09, 2011, 07:45:01 AM
...heads straight to the bartender, and says, "I need 10 shots of your hardest stuff NOW!"

Bartender says, "Whoa, sure, here you go," as he quickly pours 10 shots.

Man ploughs through the 10 shots in less than 30 seconds.

"Whoa, you drank those fast," says the bartender.

"You'd drink them that fast too if you had what I have."

"Oh my God, what do you have?"

"Seventy five cents."

lol, ya BTC dropped $1.25 today it's crazy insane and very sad.

Here's something I always wonder:

Doomsdayers are always saying it looks like bitcoin might hit new lows. Wasn't the low 0 when it started? How can it go any lower than that?

It was worth 24c US when I bought my first bitcoins last November. Never would have expected it to be at around $6 less than ten months later!  Tongue

Your site is pretty slick looking. It's nice to have a lot of different alternatives for buying gift cards. Hope this all goes well for you.
