661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 09, 2016, 05:37:07 PM
Why all the trading advice all of a sudden?

TL;DR: I just lost my family and fled my country. So I am finally able to speak up!

During his teens, Risto Pietilä was among the top of the youth in his country. He attended the historical Hämeenlinnan lyseo high school, the alma mater of President J. K. Paasikivi and composer Jean Sibelius. In the 1990s, Pietilä was selected to several youth exchange programs etc., in Italy, Japan, Thailand and Australia. (This was extremely rare for anyone in Finland in the 1990s.)

Pietilä ranked in top-4 in the national Chemistry competition all of the 3 years he attended, won the Mental arithmetics competition all the 3 years he attended, and was twice a Chemistry olympiad delegate, once scoring a bronze medal. He graduated with 5 laudatur.

After serving 9 months compulsory conscription in voluntary special forces unit Pori Brigade, Rapid Deployment Force (combined field, APC driver, UN and Nato military/"peacekeeper" training), with the most "kuntoisuusloma" (extracurricular leave granted based on personal achievements) in his unit, he continued his studies in Helsinki University of Technology, department of Industrial Engineering and Management.

He rejected the grant from Helsinki School of Economics, but chose to major in Economics nevertheless in the HUT (now: Aalto University). He participated in Mensa IQ test in 2003, scoring 167 points. Soon afterwards, he became a conscientious-objector-in-reserve, and has not participated in Nato military exercises since 2000 (South Norway).

His first company was founded at the age of merely 20, after less than a year of studies. The company, Jamera Networks (nowadays simply Jamera) reached the operational capability of 80 simultaneous buy/sell teams deployable in any location in the country, this in addition to about 10 fixed locations. Pietilä's involvement discontinued in a corporate ouster in 2003. The company was hailed as being the most profitable in (the county of) Central Finland in ~2011.

He decided to take it easy for some time, got married, and devised other business ideas, including the first-in-the-world system of car rental based on immediate car takeover upon need (no bookings).

In 2006 Pietilä saw the financial crisis approaching, and paid airtime to get his voice heard through a new national alternative TV-channel "Heaven TV7" of which he had previously cornered 1.5% of ownership. The 3-hour live show became so successful that it was re-broadcast several times and Pietilä has since been featured both in radio and TV in "crisis watch" programs. He has been featured in every Finnish TV channel plus whole-page in the largest newspaper.

The same year Pietilä began dealing in physical investment metals. The business got bigger only in 2008 after some free publicity from the government of Finland. Connected to these activities, Pietilä has co-owned and co-operated hopea.fi (2006-2013), Scenario Investments Oy (2006-2010), Eesti Investeerimishõbe OÜ (2009-), Silverbank (2010-2016), Crypto Holding (2010-). In total, more than 100 people have invested in Pietilä's companies over 15 years, and they have had more than 100,000 clients. The market cap of the companies is 1...a few MEUR each.

Knowing about cryptocurrencies since the beginning, Pietilä has selected Bitcoin, Monero and Crypto Kingdom to be his picks. They are massively on the black among the thousands of scams. Pietilä's trading skills include Bitcoin price manipulation until 2013, and Monero manipulation until 2015. (Please note that merely having the resources to manipulate such global currencies does not mean it has actually happened). He is usually counted among TOP-100 in worldwide cryptocurrency scene. Only if the evaluator's whole career coincides with Pietilä being largely out of the limelight, she may make a mistake on this one.

Over a full 20 years, Pietilä has written in BBSs, messaging boards, blogs and related media, more than 10,000 posts. Bitcointalk alone is more than 7,000 posts. Pietilä is holiday-proficient in 8 languages and writes academically in English and occasionally Finnish (the latter being his native language).

Some extreme actions have been directed against Pietilä by the rulers of Finland, including:
- hijack, sabotage and ouster from his first company (2003)
- armed confiscation of all his assets followed by a sea of illegal procedure (2008)
- nationwide media campaign for character assassination (2011)
- extrajudicial incarceration in mental facility and forced medication until suicidal (2013)
- fled for his life from Finland and left behind family who wanted medication to happen again (2016)

It is because of these events that Pietilä now considers that he has been declared as a public enemy. In actions of self-defence, Pietilä has supported numerous anti-government/anti-nato/anti-deep state groups since 2004 with sums of up to 7-figures.

Also he has designed and made:
- a 100% physical silver backed currency system Silverbank,
- an unregulated and indestructible free trade/exchange platform Crypto Kingdom, and
- is currently executing Kansanmarkka, a debt-free basic income currency, designed to oust Euro from Finland (and the world) by voluntary choice by the people. Participation in Kansanmarkka is free, you actually get paid.

He received his first official death threat 3 weeks ago. He has bought a large, secure, castle-like manor compound in rural Estonia and will continue the fight to liberate Finland (and the world) from there, unfettered by family.

The family's best response to heroic activism - which is very sad to reveal - has for a decade been: "check your head". Allegations to question his mental stability, Pietilä generally labels as gaslighting. This did not prevent him from "checking his head" by his weekly psychotherapist, who just 48 hours ago, after Pietilä's stresses of fleeing the country and losing family, gave him unconditional green light.

People are eager to believe things that interact with their own "reality". So if they are delusional, they are more likely to interpret others' actions as delusional also. If they are freedom activists, they are more likely to side with the activist.

In spite of the challenging tone of the post, the loss of two my own small and dear children to the hands of delusional people, hurts me very much. I do not hold my breath that this post would make them realise their erroneous, delusional thinking. In all likelihood it is doing the opposite. For me, however, holding the truth back in an attempt to pacify the idiots and the insane, has just ended.

I am not completely safe despite the disclosure. Common sense tells you that a man like me would be mad to drop his guard, no matter how well-armed in his own castle. I am choosing to write this instead of hiding it, because unlike during the previous assaults on my property, liberty and life in 2013, 2011, 2008 and 2003, now the time seems to be about ripe for turning some tables.

I had bet for Clinton to win, not that I supported her or believed she would gain the majority of votes, but just because establishment wants their martial law and can rig the election to ensure it. This is truly an interesting time to make happen.  Smiley

ADD: Sorry my ex-family members that I repeatedly call you idiots, insane, and delusional. But you have to understand that it is exactly what you are. To handle your own cognitive dissonance, you have tortured me with the same allegations ever since 2008 the minimum. Despite all that domestic violence, I have achieved what I have achieved. I have no intention to ever allow people in my life again, who do not acknowledge my achievements and/or label me as crazy. You know why? Because being crazy is an opinion, but I am not stupid. That is a fact.

So you left your family and your home?

How can you walk away from your family (wife and children) and your home (castle)?
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 09, 2016, 05:31:46 PM
About 12-14 more days, and then capitulation near 0.0044.

You told us not to buy XMR shortly before it went up around 25%. "Luckily" I was in.
Thx for advice but I will follow my own.

Very smart move. Risto is talking to his book like basically everybody here. Some are more vocal than others but the bottom line is the same: if an entity owns coins (s)he tends to be biased towards his position (even non-intentionally).
Bear in mind, in the very long run this volatility is simply background noise. When Monero reaches 10 000 usd price point it really doesn't make that much difference if you have bought your coins at 1 usd, 10 usd or even 100 usd. The most important thing is you still hold you coins in your bags.

Translation: "I bought back in"
663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 09, 2016, 08:55:00 AM
About 12-14 more days, and then capitulation near 0.0044. When that has happened, I'll tell if it was the last chance to buy low, or whether there'll be a double bottom later, confirming the new trading zone to be above 0.0042.

- Accumulate near 0.006 if you are totally out now
- Do not touch 0.005-0.006 (falling knife)
- Buy at the capitulation area in 0.004-0.005
- If it dips below 0.004, margin long

Why all the trading advice all of a sudden?
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My (proven) impact on Litecoin price (confirmed, evidence insid) on: November 08, 2016, 09:07:03 PM

(PS: I have already hired a gravedigger and purchased a tombstone for LTC. I paid it with feathercoin, which is still widely accepted).

thanks for the good laugh.

this is a good way to look at monero measured in oz of silver

666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 08, 2016, 06:08:26 AM
...

I can't find a good answer on how much RAM Zcash requires for its anonymous transactions. Do you happen to know? Also, how bad is it as far as CPU usage? I've seen claims that Zcash can't be used on mobile devices due to these requirements.

According to the user guide 4 GB of Free RAM https://github.com/zcash/zcash/wiki/1.0-User-Guide. To allow for the OS and any other applications this means 6 GB RAM minimum 8 GB RAM or greater typical. So forget 32bit systems (desktop or mobile) including most phones, tablets etc. See also https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/1112/monero-ram-requirements-compared-with-zcash and links therein.

Based on your post above that means zcash has a much more limited adoption ability when it comes to the end-user. Nice.

I just sent you an email on Sunday containing my mailing address.

I live a long long way from United State (I assume). I think mine will probably takes about two weeks considering the size and weight of the item. Thank you by the way. Smiley.

Keep in mind that it takes me time to get around to newly submitted coin requests. Your coin may not arrive for possibly 4-6 weeks depending upon how busy I am and how slow/fast the mail carrier is.

I haven't even gotten through all of the international ones as they are very time consuming given the customs forms I've had to fill out and also had to wait in line while USPS types these epically long addresses into their system.  Cheesy

668  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FREE] Monero Brass Coin Giveaway on: November 08, 2016, 12:40:18 AM
Got mine today, super cool!  Grin

BTW, what size is this coin? 28mm or 29mm?  I noticed it's slightly smaller in diameter than your brass bitcoins?

Thanks again! Smiley

It is approximately 28.5mm.

Glad you got the free coin. Thanks for confirming it here.

I am interested to get myself a physical coin for free. Judging from what others said, I think that the shipping is also free - please correct me if I am wrong.

(I am from Singapore.)

Yes it is free, assuming your address/location allows for USPS first class mail delivery.

Good day OP!
It's a very nice giveaway.
Is the giveaway still on? Or you have already completed the 1000 persons? And if it still on, am I eligible? I'm from Philippines.

It is still on. Yes Philippines is okay.

Once the giveaway finishes I will post here in this thread.
671  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FREE] Monero Brass Coin Giveaway on: November 04, 2016, 07:48:53 AM
Shipped a pretty large batch of international giveaway coins today.

For those that receive their coins, please reply here in this thread.

Thanks

Dash rekt like Hillary's campaign!    Cheesy

Rekt like the US will be if Trump is elected.

The election is nothing more than an election of who will be the conductor of a train with a predetermined path.

Ultimately there are inevitable events coming down the road which neither candidate can avoid.

Same goes for the legacy financial system.

Monero overtaking Dash again.   Cool

Dash rekt like Hillary's campaign!    Cheesy

Of course XMR is always crushing that scamcoin in terms of volume, despite it being traded on more exchanges.

I speculate the price of Monero will go to the moon when we get traction on major exchanges besides Poloniex.

Given we went to $12/XMR just with the capitalistic power of Poloniex, I'd expect $120-$240 when Monero trades on Coinbase, BitMEX, Kraken, Bitfinex, Gemini, BTC-E, etc.

The curious thought is what will be the catalyst for acceptance on other major exchanges from now until then.

@miffman, yes that probably makes the most sense.

UPDATE: A large batch of U.S. giveaway coins were shipped out today via USPS first class mail.

An international batch will be shipped hopefully soon. Just more forms to fill out. (some of you have some crazy long addresses  Cheesy)
675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Block Size Debate, finally an ideal solution: Bitcoin Unlimited on: November 02, 2016, 05:25:51 PM
...

Although your reasoning is plausible I would still argue that a free market solution would fix everything. Miners that are not satisfied with the rewards gained from the fees can feel free to quit mining. I will gladly be amongst the ones filling their place.

A free market implies payment. How are the miners supposed to be paid without a block reward?

TX fees.

How do you ensure enough fees exist if there is no cap on block size/space?

Is there any way to verify that a given digital certificate belongs to a given coin?
It looks like with the digital certificate, you can check that the outputs are all unspent,
but not that the outputs actually belong to the coin.

If the hash from the digital certificate appeared on the coin (or something like that, perhaps around the edge) then you would
know for certain that the outputs you are checking can actually be spent using the private key under the hologram.

Maybe I'm missing something?  Would be good to know

This only applies to FUNDED coins. Unfunded coins are marked "UNFUNDED" on their holograms prior to shipping.

Are you asking this to determine if a fake digital certificate generated would lead a buyer to believe a coin was in fact funded when it was not?

If so, then first, the scammer would need to have already gotten access to the private spend key without showing any noticeable marks on the hologram. This is possible as tamper evident holograms are not "tamper proof". This is stated in my terms and conditions for each sale I make.

Yes someone could create a fake digital certificate, but:

1. If they can already gain access to the private spend key in the manner described above, what's the difference, they would not need to create a fake digital certificate.

2. If they can't gain access to the private spend key, then the coin should be funded.

Is this the scenario(s) you are speaking to?

Just so I have a starting point...

Hi Smoothie.  Yes I'm talking about funded coins.  It's maybe a silly scenario, but say:

1) I bought a funded coin from you serial number 999.
2) I completely lost the digital certificate because I'm an idiot.  Crud
3) I want to sell the coin (still not opened in any way) to someone else, but have no digital signature
4) I make a new wallet and deposit 5XMR into it.  I make a new digital certificate:

Code:
HASH:<Hash of my new message>

-------------------------------------------------START------------------------------------------------------
LEALANA PHYSICAL BRASS COIN 5 XMR SERIAL #999

XMR ADDRESS: <MY NEWLY CREATED ADDRESS HERE>

VIEW KEY: <NEWLY CREATED VIEWKEY>
Total # of Outputs:1
************************************INDIVIDUAL OUTPUT INFORMATION*******************************************
key_image: ........INFO GENERATED FROM A 5 XMR DEPOSIT TO MY NEW ADDRESS (NOT COIN ADDRESS)
tx_id: ............ETC
output_public_key: ETC
xmr_amount: .......5.000000000000

------------------------------------------------END---------------------------------------------------------

SIGNATURES:
<A valid signature because I'm using a valid wallet holding valid funds>

5) Some time after selling the coin I withdraw my funds from my wallet, pissing off the new owner (although the coin hasn't been opened so it hasn't lost funds).

It's maybe a strange scenario.  The coin is never opened and I never see the private spend key.

Edit:  I think you addressed my concerns.  Like I said I was a bit concerned because I thought you need Address, viewkey and spendkey to recover the wallet (I believe monero-wallet-cli asks for all of them), but you technically only need the spendkey, since the seed words are an encoding of spendkey, and the whole wallet can be recovered from the seed words.

Simple:

There is no harm in me keeping a copy of the digital certificate as it would not allow me to spend the contents of the coin.

The buyer could request another copy of it from me (assuming I am still alive).

Other solution is to have multiple copies of the digital certificate since it costs basically nothing to make duplicates.

Yes someone could create a fake digital certificate, but:

2. If they can't gain access to the private spend key, then the coin should be funded.

3. If a coin was redeemed after the scammer gained access to the private spend key in #1 but before it was sold to a buyer, then this is where the digital certificate comes in to play as its whole role is to prove funding of a coin.

Perhaps #3 would require a public list of XMR addresses with associated serial #'s to be published by me in order for verification of a digital certificate is genuine or not (as a starting point).

Since XMR is fairly private, this may not be a problem to do going forward for my XMR coins.

You perhaps should be more clear on your terms of purchase judging from the title it isn't exactly clear what those terms are.

680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ZCASH] The trusted setup problem. on: October 27, 2016, 07:02:26 PM

I think this aspect of zerocash (or specifically ZCASH) is very well known and has been discussed here many times.

At the end of the day - people need to decide if they trust the ZCASH team to;
Do due diligence on the code to mitigate the risk of minting using software bugs.
Perform the setup properly and in good faith.
Be honest in their assertion that 'there is no back door'.

The first and last issues should be reasonably easy to check by peer review of the released code.

The concept was well known but the specifics of how, who, when we're not disclosed until just recently.

If you have to trust certain people not to compromise the system instead of relying solely on open source vetting, then you are okay with counterparty risk.

Not something I trust.
