661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem i see with bitcoin. on: May 01, 2015, 10:48:28 AM
Having known on the problem there's really nothing much we can do except to continue play our part and create awareness about bitcoin. I'm one of the group of people who wants to see bitcoin succeed in any way I can and that is why I'm less bothered when it comes to price. Also instead of going further into debate about how to change that we'll just have to spread the word and continue doing it.
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Anybody notice the 100btc transaction fee on 27th April? on: May 01, 2015, 08:53:37 AM
I was looking at the stats and noticed that the transaction fee was at 100btc even though the number of transaction on that day was just a slight increase compared to the day before. It wasn't the highest though but I believe it has been quite some time though since we last seen that during the Mt Gox era

Just wondering what might have caused that because the first thing that comes to my mind was somebody accidentally or wrongly inserted the decimal point when adjusting the sending fees when performing transaction.

663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help for people affected by Nepal earthquake on: May 01, 2015, 08:23:14 AM
If you are really keen to donate whatever fund available be it fiat whatever would be fine and it doesn't have to be bitcoin per se. What they really need right now is quick relief fund to buy items they could use straight away and continue with the rescue and rebuilding effort. For now I'm only providing to red cross and organizations who i can trust and hopefully they can make full use of it
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This D.C. bitcoin company raised $2.3 million to ... mine more bitcoins on: May 01, 2015, 08:11:19 AM
Let's hope whatever business operation they are into it will be long enough to pay back to the investors with a profit. Somehow at current mining difficulty I suppose they must be looking to invest and based their operations where production cost is cheap. Else whatever investment or fund put in by right it will give lower return as time pass by and just wondering how they are going to maintain that.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Leaked Chainalysis Roadmap Angers Bitcoin Community on: May 01, 2015, 07:52:06 AM
For me not having anonymity is not a big issue the least. Except for those having involve in illegal stuff or sort. Thus chainalysis if you ask me is just providing service on top of what is already there. If you really need to hide yourselves there is always a way either mix the coins around, trade them for items and then buy back the coins, so to put it, there is always a way.
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Classic Bitcoin Polls - What is your all time favorite Bitcoin wallet? on: May 01, 2015, 01:44:48 AM
Not sure why online wallets are listed here but never mind. I tried and used almost every one of them in the list here (not online) but nothing beats electrum for me right now. Serves well for my daily use. Fast, responsive, easy to use, multisig, HD, easy to remember recovery option, security. The next one that come closest is Armory
667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes you invest in a coin? on: May 01, 2015, 01:22:12 AM
For me the only thing that matters is what the coin could offer in terms of better technology compared to bitcoin taken as a benchmark. If you notice, most of the newly launched coins whitepaper is just a spun off of whatever existing bitcoin write up. Things I would be interested on is the algo, speed, security and if these core elements are there, naturally people will see it as having potential. Sadly nowadays all the new coins are purely marketing based.
668  Economy / Economics / Re: 2014 Poll: How many bitcoins do you own? on: May 01, 2015, 01:10:11 AM
Obviously you won't get anything from the pool. There are already 22 people answering having owned more than 1 million bitcoins and that amounts to 22 million versus the current supply right now at 14 million. Oh well, here's mine. Still less than 10 but getting close.
669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrap It Up, bitcoin Is Done on: May 01, 2015, 01:00:23 AM
Not sure what's the problem. If you look at the market, there are still active buying with people demanding for bitcoin. I always think bitcoin is not done until you see everybody giving up hope and stop talking about bitcoin. And as long as there are active members here, you are dead wrong on your assumptions.
670  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is Bitcoin still a slave of Fiat? on: May 01, 2015, 12:55:58 AM
I think the question here still goes back to asking ourselves on what we can do. As long as things are still priced in fiat, that is where the problem comes. I perform quite a lot of online marketing thing and the first thing I'll ask the seller is whether they will accept bitcoin. Most of them will agree to that, and that is how you introduce bitcoin.
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell should we care about women in bitcoin space? on: May 01, 2015, 12:27:08 AM
Women are among the biggest group of spenders and potentially the one that would accept bitcoin and bring it to mainstream adoption. Too bad bitcoin has not yet been really successfully in the retail section. Imagine swiping the phone to pay for the designer clothes and you are good on the go.
672  Economy / Economics / Re: German economic conditions are holding up despite the Greek crisis on: April 30, 2015, 03:10:43 PM
That goes back to the question of how generous people are or how long they are willing to tolerate. Yeah, we could say Greece might not matter at all which is true but the whole economic will get shaken badly if there are strings of event dragging along one after another. Let's see how long it can maintain that way.
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Circle Raises $50 Million With Goldman Sachs Support on: April 30, 2015, 03:03:42 PM
Basically I don't see where things are heading. The fund is actually put in to expand whatever existing infrastructure already in place. So in a way, existing users can keep more fiat and bitcoin into their wallet? I would actually be more excited to hear something that can attract new users to bitcoin and also especially on how we can bring that mainstream.
674  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of the Bear Trend on: April 30, 2015, 02:49:16 PM
Still too early to make any conclusion. It might just be a dead cat bounce for all we know and that's what happening all the time. I would say we still need to wait for a firm signal. If you plot the trend line, the price needs to at least cross the 320 level before we can say it has finally made the turn.
675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum Computers in the News on: April 30, 2015, 02:33:30 PM
Try to talk some sense into this discussion here. If quantum computing can break SHA256, all the online credit card transaction that involves encryption is not safe either. In other words nothing is safe unless a new way is found to scale up encryption technology accordingly. so what makes bitcoin the target of attack over here?
676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When western countries introduce capital controls on: April 26, 2015, 02:34:17 AM
Certain governments actually enforce capital control to regulate cash flows in and out of the country to prevent currency manipulation and to certain extent protect their economy. This includes fx exchange, in general such as limiting the volume that can be traded at certain period. If you consider bitcoin coming into the picture, where you can actually have the option to buy the coins in local currency and then move on to another country to exchange it back to fiat, that is something which can bypass the norm and the control.
677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Image of BitCoin on: April 26, 2015, 02:10:12 AM
Well generally I would say the price factor still plays a part. When price is sky high, it doesn't matter what the rest of the people are thinking, as long it is valuable, it's not a scam. Even if past history about exchangers' collapse is not going to change your opinion about bitcoin. The media will play along with it, writing beautiful stories about how wonderful bitcoin is.

However, when the opposite happens and price goes to the dump, everybody starts to develop the negative thinking. The press will take every opportunity to give a good bashing and that is where everything ends up in the drain.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yet Another Bitcoin Based Philosophical Question on: April 26, 2015, 02:00:38 AM
Nobody is going to sign on and agree to that clause. This scenario applies everywhere. For example, if you ask your broker or financial adviser to provide you recommendations related to some newly launched stocks and because of the misinformed information, you ended up losing money when things go wrong. Certainly the guy cannot be held liable since he is merely doing his job based on your instruction. You should be well-known with the risks you are taking.
679  Economy / Speculation / Re: This forum is not an indicator for the real sentiment anymore. on: April 25, 2015, 08:06:32 AM
I'm more than happy if we leave out the speculators. They are there just to make money and whether bitcoin succeeds or fails is of no concern to them. So never mind if it's a boring year. Seeing the price going up and going down only gives us all the false hope and when it finally stabilizes, that is when we should see businesses adopting it and seeing it as a stable payment system. That is really what we need.
680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin founder quits cryptocurrency industry on: April 25, 2015, 07:54:12 AM
This somehow comes as a surprise when I read the news. Imagine how the community will interpret or react to this message because having JP leaving is like saying there is not going to be any new development put into the coins. Seriously after the introduction of merge mining and having the reward per block capped at 10,000 coins after the 600,000th block, I really don't see the coin going to be any better. Bitcoin price has been sliding but doge scenario is even worst.
