EDIT: Bpay Australia has asked us not to use their name on our site, so the direct link to pay Australian bills with bitcoins is now http://paybills.spendbitcoins.com. Happy paying!

Do these Amazon gift codes ever expire?
Nope.

does the lower exchange compensate your fee's? or do you apply fee's on top of the shown exchange rate on your site?
current market price 1btc = is around $8, your exchnage rate 1btc = $7.32, which is very good if no extra fee's are included, otherwise what are your fee's?
Lower exchange rate (aud) compensates my fees. There are no added fees.

great idea jeremy.west.
is this US only or will it work for non-US countries (i.e. if the normal amazon.com will ship to your country then this will also work).
Hi Kirian! Anywhere amazon will ship to. Happy shopping! Cheers, Jeremy West

for now the only things that people are buying with Bitcoins are USD and drugs, but that's going to change soon with the advent of high-quality developers backed by high-equity funding.
Can you buy USD or drugs on Amazon now? 'Cause there are lots of people buying stuff on Amazon through http://spendbitcoins.com .

Question/request: can you display on the website the exchange rates for other currencies other than USD? Fake-ordering something just to get an email with the price is hard and a misuse of the system (and I only did it once, I promise! ). Done! Mouseover the USD rate to get other rates. Happy spending!

So the issue of transactions not being process on August 26th resulted in some bitcoins being sent to an expired address at an exchange.
Whilst transactions that were destined for my own wallet were processed eventually, so were these time sensitive transactions.
I've opened another support ticket at MtGox but it's now been 4 days since I've heard anything.
I know I'm small fry but I'm more than majorly peeved that I've not heard a peep from them regarding this issue for over a week.
It's like they think that just ignoring it will result in me going away, well bad news. I'm not going away until it gets resolved.
Have you checked with the other exchange? If I understand correctly, bitcoin addresses don't actually ever expire, so although they haven't tracked it to your account, they may still have received the bitcoins and can apply them to your account if you can show it was your transaction? Worth a try, anyway.

Fake-ordering something just to get an email with the price is hard and a misuse of the system (and I only did it once, I promise! ). You read my mind! This is exactly what I have my coders working on at the moment. No ETA on when it will be done though . In the meantime, fake-order as often as you like to get a quote. That is not a misuse of the system. While we are able to look up the quotes if we are interested, it is the actual payments we look up to fulfill orders.

all of the exchange rates were spelled out to you BEFORE you paid, so I do wish you would have brought it up privately before paying . sorry i was like a woman in a shoe store at that point, too excited to look at the price, just happy to be able to pay bills with bitcoin, then noticed the usd/aud rate a bit later. anyway, will PM you, thanks and i hope aussie miners get on board now and pay their electricity bills through your page. BTC 4.56 sent. Cheers!

hi jeremy,
as you may remember, a week or so ago I got you to pay a couple of BPAY payments for me (possibly what started this idea).
while i was more than happy about the 'reduced' bitcoin rate, where i felt a bit jipped was in the USD/AUD rate, which you converted at 1.11 at a time when the going mid-rate on xe.com was 1.06.
i think you should either have a 'bad' bitcon/usd rate or a 'bad' usd/aud rate, but not both.
my thoughts.
edit: forget all of the above, i should have clicked your new link before i blurted all that out... i see you give a fixed bitcoin/AUD rate now as part of the deal so at least we can compare it to tradehill's AUD market for example.
thanks!
no problem. I appreciate the critique (although all of the exchange rates were spelled out to you BEFORE you paid, so I do wish you would have brought it up privately before paying . Allow me to explain the exchange rate you received vs the new bpay exchange rate: The exchange rate you received was on the "buy anything" page, which automatically converts anything other than USD using the RETAIL rate (not the bank-to-bank rate you quoted) as that is what I have to pay to convert. As the Aussie bpay page only deals in AUD and I can use AUD without converting, it uses the bank-to-bank rate before adding the fee I would normally receive from affiliates. If you PM me a bitcoin refund address I'll gladly refund what the difference would have been just as a thank you for giving me this idea. I'll also see if I can figure out the coding to make AUD the bank-to-bank rate on the buy anything page. Thanks again for a great idea!

Bitcoin's biggest flaw is not in the protocol, It's biggest flaw is people judge its value based on fiat currency such as the EURO or USD, This is bitcoins biggest flaw as long as bitcoins value is dictated by fiat currency then it will have little chance of accomplishing indenpendence as a currency.
If the USD collapsed tomorrow what would happen to BTC? who or what would dictate its value? silver? gold? the mining difficulty?
Your thoughts?
It is only pegged to national currencies because 99.99999% of businesses only accept national currencies so bitcoin accepting businesses have to convert their bitcoins in order to spend them or pay suppliers. The greater the number of businesses accepting bitcoins, the more products will be able to be priced strictly in bitcoins. If the USD collapsed, as the Zimbabwe dollar did, bitcoins might just be worth millions of USD but still around 5 Euros.
