681  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: August 21, 2012, 05:10:12 AM
Im positive we will enter a half day rally shortly, maybe up to 11-12$, because it seems payouts are delayed by at least that much time (see IRC). Also the possibility of Pirate not paying out at all just increased. Just to let you know.

yep from 99.95% to 99.995%  Wink

As far as I'm concerned by the following link pirate has already defaulted with one investor, Bitlane.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102079.0

A delay is not necessarily equal default, but it is telling.

Yeah but with pirate's perfect record so far its really telling....he has never been this late.

He is just being consistent so far with expected ponzi modus operandi. But we are offtopic here, we'd better stop it. Anyway give it just a few days and everyone will know what it is.

684  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Pirate paying back investors within a week OR two? on: August 21, 2012, 01:28:00 AM
I give pirate more credit than some young dumbass that trusts a public proxy. If he setup gpumax I can comfortably say he's way smarter than I am when comes to technology and even I have the ability to never be found via IP. Maybe I'm spoiled by city wide free wifi and about 50 open networks in range on my wireless card. But the main point is witchhunt based on IP is dangerous if he was using some open network or that cracker site I mentioned, as some innocent will end up dead.

Quite an incentive to secure your wifi ha? These days it basically means wpa2 with a very strong password.
685  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to Identify a Ponzi on: August 20, 2012, 07:19:08 PM
One clear sign that pirate was/is operating a ponzi is that he is forced to close his business because of the fact that many investors wanted to get their principal investment back at the same time. Otherwise why does it matter if they want their bitcoins and he has them right? Also there shouldn't be a delay if he has all of their funds. So far he hasn't returned all investor coins....

Yep, also note that not a single repayment was made/reported today. If this was a genuine op and knowing the allegations surely a fund manager, with intention to pay anything at all soon, would do his damnest to pay today at least some "investors". This has not happened. Instead there is just "leaked" information that Pirate supposedly will be telling someone how he performed miracles. Right on...

Fast repayment? Bitcoinica style? lol

bitcoinica style Cheesy ^ 2

infinity squared?
or
infinitely screwed?

687  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitInstant Credit Card and Bitcoin Prices on: August 20, 2012, 05:55:32 PM
We are definitely getting some of those for Bitcoin Magazine. Thus all our expenses except for large payments will be BTC denominated.

Vlad, include a Bitinstant credit card with each subscription and I'll happily subscribe for a year!

Good idea, I'll check what it takes.

But subscribe anyway Bitcoin Magazine is getting better with every issue and we are much closer to stable monthly schedule and decent delivery times.

cover any costs associated with their chosen method of payment.

Do you include the administrative costs or only the transaction/exchange fees?

Just out of pocket costs i.e. what banks/paypal/whomever charge us or if we can we just set "all charges to be paid by payee".

I suppose if they request me to swim over atlantic and deliver some banknotes personally, there might be some "administrative fee" for that.  Grin

690  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: August 20, 2012, 05:32:32 PM
Don't take bitcoin for the entire gig/salary? You're fired. In this economy, there are plenty of people out there looking for work.

Bitcoin Magazine has a simple policy. We prefer to pay all contractors in BTC. They can ask for another form of payment, but then they cover any costs associated with their chosen method of payment. Once they see that instead of say 100$ in BTC they get only 88-90$ in their preferred currency and payment method, many quickly change their mind on how they want to be paid.

This is a quick update.

All UK subscribers had their copies of #2 and #3 as well as some orders of #1 shipped today (Monday 20st of Aug). Expect to receive it tomorrow or day after.

B&N shipment of #3 has just been delivered to distributor's warehouses (4 of them), expect it in stores marked on the map here http://bitcoinmagazine.net/subscribe/ on or immediately after 4th of September.

The rest of issues are in transit to our European warehouse, from there it will be shipped worldwide. Best guess estimate is 2-3 weeks from now.

Order your subscription now (#1's #2's #3's) to be in time for the upcoming shipment. This week we expect to ship all outstanding orders and subscriptions direct from our European warehouse.

Order here http://bitcoinmagazine.net/subscribe Naturally, we prefer bitcoin payment, but also accept legacy currencies via papal (for backward compatibility, obviously  Wink ).

695  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: August 19, 2012, 08:46:47 PM
I have my bet made on Pirate. You, Vladimir, all you have is a big mouth.

And you have little brain.
696  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: August 19, 2012, 08:42:52 PM
Some people do not gamble, some have no money they can afford to lose. Most of those people are not even looking into this ponziness. If this is cowardice so be it. I would say however, you are just full of shit.

Reckless? Matthew?

BTW, Ribuck, are you coming to London in September? I just hope that one of you will pay the winner 100 BTC there and I'll get myself a free dinner or beer by virtue of being close by.

@Otomakan Ishotas: Please read the OP. You're not an established member.
bet void
What is your current opinion on the likely hood of a pirate payout?

Unchanged, I still think chances of it being a poinzi are extremely high. Worried about Matthew being reckless here. Really worried.
