681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any sense in making so many alternate coins? on: April 27, 2013, 08:56:07 PM
I'm not one to tell other people what to create and not create. If you have a great idea, bring it to fruition and let the free market sort it out.  Too many central planners around here for my taste.

Hear, hear!

RBCex is officially supporting Crazy Rabbit Coin (CRC), as of now.  You can place CRC buy orders immediately, in any other supported currency (BTC, LTC, BTE, TRC, BBQ, FC).  Sell orders will be available as soon as anybody has any CRC to send.

So I have come up with an idea for an 'alt-coin' of sorts. I think it will be very controversial yet extremely popular very quickly.

Very controversial yet extremely popular very quickly?  Sounds just like every other altcoin! Tongue

So I have come up with an idea for an 'alt-coin' of sorts. I think it will be very controversial yet extremely popular very quickly. I've put everything I need together to start mining it so I'm starting now (my premine) but it won't seem like a premine. Indeed it won't be a premine at all. It's a bit 'crazy' but you'll see why. When I have my 'premine' ready I'll announce via email to everyone who sends an email to a specific email address, but I haven't set that up yet. But already people are crazy PMing me, so just hold on a little bit. I'll give an email out and everyone who writes to that email will get a message for when to start their premine and then I'll announce publicly a week after that.

Sound like a crazy enough scheme for everyone? I think it's going to be crazy controversial, yet- I would argue it was inevitable in some sense.

You should support another bit-tech group https://bitmessage.org/wiki/Main_Page and create a mailing list there for people to subscribe to :-)   to send your announcements to, I believe you can create the address and people can subscribe to it for the notification

brilliant! I agree! I will do that instead of an email.

Haha!  I shall be forced to learn bitmessage, finally.

Why not also set a fixed $price / coin before the launch to avoid all speculation?

Why does everybody think speculation is bad?  Just because governments have made speculators a scapegoat for generations, that doesn't mean they are actually a problem.

Rabbit, if you start a coin, I'll support it on RBCex from day 1, premine or not, whether I'm in on it or not.

The ocean is one of the most unregulated markets on earth right now.

If that were true, you could homestead a piece of it and make it your property.

If you try to do that, you'll discover there are a lot of legal regulations preventing you from doing so.

Seems to be back up.

Because roads are the glue that bind our culture together.

Can I please get a divorce?

You just need a few WMDs, holes and job is done...

Yuck, wouldn't want to have to kill innocent people to do it!
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BTC|TRC|BTE|BQC|LTC|FC] RBCex: Exchange Terracoin, Bytecoin, BBQcoin, Featherco on: April 27, 2013, 01:43:58 PM
In response to some questions I've received by PM:

Feathercoin

Yes, RBCex will post Feathercoin trades.  There hasn't been a tab because I haven't received any orders.  I'll take FC trades against BTC, LTC, BTE, or any other currency RBCex has.  If you don't see the currency pair you are looking for, by all means, ask!  Currently supported currencies are:

BTC, BTE, LTC, TRC, BBQ, FC

I hope to add more in the future, but as I said, I don't want to make announcements or commit to dates. Smiley  I have two other cryptocurrencies in my sights, and don't plan to stop there.

Transaction fees

Withdrawal

For now I'm paying whatever transaction fees it takes to get your money to you after a trade.

Deposit

I'll let you cover transaction fees to get money to me for trade.  If you send me an amount by PM, then realize that some of that is going to be lost due to transaction fees, that's fine; we can just adjust your order accordingly once it is funded.

Big thank yous to everyone in the Bitcoin/cryptocoin/altcoin community who has traded with RBCex, or even just stopped in to chat or look around!  I am really enjoying doing this!

Exchange is running again. Thank you all for your patience. Smiley

Good to see you back.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bteex.com the worlds firt bytecoin exchange goes live on: April 27, 2013, 01:31:05 PM
when i post a sell order of 1BTE for 0,0015BTC per BTE the rate becomes:
"0.001499999999992500000000038"
How does that happen? Cheesy

See, I told you guys that Satoshis are infinitely divisible!

(I'm sure it's easily fixed.  But when coding with Bitcoin, it's so tempting to take the thing out to bazillions of decimal places, or use an arbitrary precision decimal class like Java's BigDecimal.....)

Will Mincoin be added down the track?

Mincoin is one of the coins I hope to add.  I hate to announce plans, because the Bitcoin world is so full of announced plans that never made it. Smiley

Traded: 0.08 BTC <=> 2000 BQC

Thank you for your business!

699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BBQcoin mining at 0 hash/sec? on: April 27, 2013, 06:26:35 AM
The correction to this problem:

add gen=1 to bbqcoin.conf, and ignore the miner tab.

Works for me. Smiley

BBQcoin still starts up extremely slowly, but it's not a big problem.
700  Economy / Economics / Re: Why people are still buying BTC? on: April 27, 2013, 06:22:35 AM
When you pay something with your credit card or paypal, the fees are either negligible or acceptable.
When you pay something with btc, they are repulsive.

Not usually.  That only happened to you because you got suckered into the "free bitcoin" deal.  You accumulated a ton of tiny pieces of bitcoin ("dust") that cost money to merge back together.  It's like you showed up at a jewelers with a bag full of gold dust and asked for a ring.  There'll be a pretty hefty fee to melt all that gold down and craft a ring out of it!

Bitcoin shouldn't be gained in tiny near-worthless pieces.
