If trucks were taken off the Interstate system, there is at least a full lane that could be devoted to a two-way autonomous freight system. Container size does not need to much bigger than a coffin for most crap people buy. Trucks and trains can still be used for the few large items.

There have been a couple other threads with more-or-less this idea. Micro-payments make pay-as-you-go seem much less intimidating. I hope it catches on and that Bitcoin fills that niche.

Your basic idea isn't new. Francis Bellamy wrote about it in 1887 sans the maglev. Germany has been working on this awhile too. http://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2008/02/a-world-without.html The Venus Project's Jacque Fresco has designs for high speed maglev through vacuum tubes for speeds approaching 6000 mph. The Zeitgeist Movement also has many such designs. I would love to hear Jacque Fresco's design for suspending a train in the air using nothing but magnetism. What type of maglev system did he design, and how does it work? As a former Interstate truck driver, I am 100% for an underground freight transport system. I am not familiar with the engineered systems out there. Jacque Fresco is a 94 y/o industrial designer, not an engineer. I don't think he has specific schematics. Naval rail guns achieve artillery velocities, so it must be possible.

... to delay switchover until April 1.
Hmm, I wonder if there is a hidden meaning in that date? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Sam Or maybe it would be safer to push it back to the second Friday in April on the 13th. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

I suggested awhile ago that we need an "I survived 2012" commemorative physical Bitcoin with a Mayan calendar on the face. A customized hologram would be very cool too.

Willful ignorance and state supported FUD. When pundits realize that the bubbles are going to be much smaller now, they will feel more confident in price stability.

I'll have to think about a Bitcoin pinky ring. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

There hasn't been much posted from the devs in the last couple weeks. I'm sure everyone is busy. I hope this means there is great progress being made. I have a feeling that March will come in like a lion. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Besides MT Gox, I have only given my email address to Matthew. I hope his system isn't compromised. Although the mods/admins may have access to it as well.

Bitcoin has properties only barely explored yet. We don't have to be limited to commonly known forms. We can invent new forms. Some will ensure privacy and anonymity, some will provide positive identity. We can wear payment codes publicly and we can conceal private keys in many ways. Without the Authoritarian Architecture of a Central Bank, we are free as individuals to invent new ways to create transactions and will inspire the Open Source developers to create new tools for us to make our lives easier and more convenient. And we will never have to worry again about someone stealing our money through the many frauds of identity theft.

There may be a use for 3D printers here. Physical bitcoin may be something you want to conceal or disguise until you are ready to use them.

Paypal, while appearing to be big now, it's not certain it will always remain like this. When you have a large amount of customers, treating them like garbage may seem like no big deal, but the customer base may decline, and one day they won't longer be able to keep going with their current business model, and they're out for good. Seems to be down right now, but otherwise http://www.paypalsucks.com/ is a good site to visit. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Why isn't there a Bitcoin donation option available on this page? http://www.screw-paypal.com/bottom_nav_homepage/donate.htmlWho's in charge of this? This is a perfect site to bring awareness to Bitcoin. ~Bruno~ That site looks like it's just to promote a book for sale.

Bitcoin can exist at an infinite number of locations and can be sent to the same instantly because anyone that has the private key has the first access and is the one that actually determines the physical location of the Bitcoin. You can use the Shroedingers Cat analogy with Bitcoin. When you send Bitcoin to an address, you don't know how many people have been given the private key to that public address. Decentralized money will be an interesting test for law since there will always be plausible deniability regarding the country of origin and destination.

Let's compare notes. Did anyone contact anyone in the bitcoin community by email shortly before getting this phishing email? Or did anyone post in a particular section or thread? I'm not asking for names, I'm simply looking for a pattern.

It's a start. Either way, they will have a real impact on educating people about Bitcoin.

The sell price is lower now than in July. Are you saying that makes mining more worthwhile? I fail to see your logic here. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) looking at bitcoincharts, the lowest the price dipped in july was around $12. the lowest in august was around $7. and either way, your post still was completely non sequitur to mine. I'm glad you think that way. I hope miners keep selling their bitcoin in the $4-5 range. I'll keep buying them and we're all happy. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

Hashrate has fallen since July. Bitcoin isn't worth mining right now, but it is worth buying.
and the sell price in july vs the sell price now? I mean really... The sell price is lower now than in July. Are you saying that makes mining more worthwhile? I fail to see your logic here. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) I suppose for some very efficient mining rigs it may be marginally profitable, especially if the heat is valued as well. My mining rig will be shut down very soon if the price does not increase with the outside temperature.
