It's probably no more fantastic than out-competing the world banking system.

I am curious why you chose to go on The Bitcoin Show, hosted by Bruce Wagner, ... allegedly patronized underage prostitutes.
That's a very serious accusation and criminal if unfounded. Can you prove any charges for this horrendous allegation? Where is a link? Do you have any evidence for an indictment or are you a just another SA troll? Maybe you know something. Are you pimping children for talk show hosts? Hmm? Time to bounce dude.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxMazut6-0U&list=UUOv9LmEtLR-HzDcupGT6UIw

I see BitInstant is promoting itself on the webshow hosted by Bruce Wagner, who was convicted of mortgage fraud and fined a quarter million dollars.

BitInstant does not support or condone fraud, does it?
Have you or any other member of BitInstant ever been convicted of fraud?

Is your indifference towards Bruce's past indiscretions, viewing going on his show a "means to an ends," indicative of your business values as a whole?
Do you believe self-promotion, and the resulting profits, is worth associating your business with someone convicted of fraud?

Thank you,
-Ragged
Guilt by association. Always a sign that the goon squad is not far behind. Fortunately for Bruce, he does not yet live in a Banana Republic. OTOH, our former Chief Executive Administrations were full of indicted appointees. The exception is the 43rd POTUS with a teflon clean record that the entire world admires. But I digress... Business these days cares not about morals, mores or ethics when profit is involved, present company excepted of course. Those minor details are left to the legal department.
7484  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Count down to Iran invasion on: December 16, 2011, 11:48:19 PM
lol thread

Who would invade?  The US is broke and pulling out of Iraq

Correction: the US was kicked out of Iraq. Well, except for that giant base American Palace in Baghdad thinly disguised as embassy.

FTFY

You can bet that they didn't buy it with Bitcoin.
7486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free Bitcoins on The Bitcoin Show Next Monday sponsored by Coinbits.com on: December 16, 2011, 11:17:22 PM
You are paying to be on the tiny show of an ostracized pedophile and convicted fraudster?

Welcome to the big league.

Oh stop trolling already and grow up.

Because if I was more mature, I wouldn't be concerned that Bitcoin's poster-boy is an ephebophile (thx rassah  Wink) who has been convicted of mortgage fraud?

Every day he remains a spokesperson for Bitcoin hurts our reputation.  I understand that it feels exciting to "be on TV", but you shouldn't be taking attention from a creep and a crook as such a compliment.  Every person who adds to his page-views lets him stay in the limelight for a little bit longer.

He wanted to have a Bitcoin conference in Pattaya, the underage sex capital of the world!  You can read posts he made giving tips on buying young virgin boy prostitutes. Is that the person we want representing the rest of us who use Bitcoin?  If you believe his story that it was an innocent mistake, you are incredibly naive.

Was he connected to MyBitcoin.com 51% theft?  Wouldn't be the first time he took a bunch of people's money and never returned it.

Furthermore, he has been convicted of defrauding people of their money!  I don't care how many excuses or apologies you give, you are still a sketchy guy who no rational person should trust.

Unless you want Bitcoin to be known as the currency for underage prostitutes and hiding money stolen through fraud, stop supporting Bruce Wagner.

I don't know what your social circle is like Yankee, but most of the world doesn't want to associate with people who pay for sex with children.  Why are you defending him?

Bitcoin stands on it's own merit. It doesn't matter if its "poster boy" was a baby eating atheist vampire named Adolph Manson Gacy (no relation to any living person). It's only money. Money only needs value and liquidity. Bitcoin is decentralized, even if the commie pinko socialists or nazi fascist zombies use it, Bitcoin doesn't care.

I personally believe that 7 billion is well above the carrying capacity of earth, and the first to innovate and shed complete dependence on farmland will prosper immensely in the end. I could give a rat's ass about the government in the big picture, really.

The counter examples provided are all retarded:

* The moon - is the fucking moon.
* Space in general - might as well be the fucking moon.
* Under the ocean - Huh
* In the middle of the Sahara (yes part of nations, but I don't think anyone would care) - inhospitable
* North or south pole - inhospitable
* Somalia - I like both food and not having my family raped and mutilated in front of me.

This 'absurd logistical nightmare' is the life that millions of people lead already. I don't think you know much about sailing, yachting or boating in general.

Talk about inhospitable. How do you explain New Jersey? It also might as well be the moon.

Welcome to the big league.

We're just all waiting to be on your show. If you have a crime to report, call the police or risk being accused of accessory after the fact.

I'm not charged fees to pay with a credit card. The merchant pays fees to accept them. Why not have the merchant pay the $3 fee?

I wonder if starving artists would offer their work for Bitcoin? They may see the potential value going up as a hedge against their work itself.

yep, please make a new thread a leaving this on topic, maybe you hit the wrong button when posting it ?

I edited the post. I did press the wrong button. It should have been quote, not reply.  Cheesy
7496  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Globalist Agenda on: December 16, 2011, 12:55:53 PM
Clearly there is enough wealth in the world to meet the basic needs of all humans: food, clean water, shelter, clothing. The wealth is currently distributed so that many people do not have these needs met. There are two ways to meet these needs: the socialist way - forcibly taking the money from the rich and giving it to the poor, or the libertarian way - encouraging the people with the money to voluntarily give it to the people without.

Basic needs and wealth are two different things. If those basic needs are not met, then encouragement escalates to force. The stronger the oppression, the stronger the retribution. Neither is justified, but that doesn't matter when the mobs are in the streets.
7497  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Stages of Bitcoin acceptance on: December 16, 2011, 12:38:29 PM
Stage 0: Trading Bitcoin as a commodity. Speculation will drive value to one or two orders of magnitude.
Stage 1: Social Networking will adapt Bitcoin for micropayments. Speculation will drive value to one or two orders of magnitude.
Stage 2: Commerce will embrace Bitcoin as an overlay mechanism, like Paypal. Speculation will drive value one or two orders of magnitude.
Stage 3: Bitcoin will replace local banking for businesses enjoying low fees. Local legislatures will officially recognize Bitcoin. Speculation peaks.
Stage 4: Nations will begin to decouple currencies and adapt Bitcoin.
Stage 5: Nations and corporations will merge as they lose their competitive advantage over decentralized enterprises.
Stage 6: National borders will dissolve as decentralized enterprises evolve into AI driven civilization planning.
Stage 7: Bitcoin will evolve into a scientific-method based algorithm using Asimovian principles.
Stage 8: Ebil robot zombies will eat our brains and conquer the Universe.

While i personally would love to see your stages come to pass (especially the zombie one) I do not think they will. Stage 0 is obviously already happening. Stage 1 however seems VERY unlikely, as long as social media is dominated by Facebook. Facebook is developing their own credit system, and have no reason whatsoever to accept bitcoins. As your whole plan really depends on stage 1 for launching, none of the other stages will come to pass either. Even if facebook is derailed by google+ or perhaps some other unknown player, what incentive would they have to allow bitcoins and not adopt their own version of facebook credits?

I thought about physical Bitcoin possibly added to Stage 1 to help boost acceptance to stage 2, but I'm not sure that they will get beyond collectors items. Getting Bitcoin out of the hands of geeks and on the streets will be tough.
7498  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Spend bitcoins from specific address on: December 16, 2011, 12:32:15 PM
I wish you would implement some of the bitcoin protocol within OT. I am frustrated with the conservative reference platform's refusal to embrace side-channel transactions. An OT client which didn't just facilitate smart contracts denominated in bitcoin but actually handled bitcoin transaction and key management would be killer.

Be careful not to follow the plight of Google Wave: a superior framework too abstract to catch hold.

Honestly, if I was going to make some calls to Bitcoin, then I would just include libbitcoin, I wouldn't bother coding it myself. (It'd just be duplicating work.) I seriously doubt that I could make a better implementation of Bitcoin than what Genjix is already doing with libbitcoin.

OT is a useful tool in conjunction with Bitcoin, and the best way to use them together (in your own software) would be to include the OT library to do the OT stuff, and include libbitcoin to do the Bitcoin stuff, and all cross-over transactions between the two is the job of YOUR software, which is connecting the two.

OT seems to be a very sophisticated barter system. Is there a currency relative market value assigned to each transaction? Would it be possible to analyze the variance of anonymously reported types of trades (i.e. silver for tokens in terms of BTC or RMB) like a ticker?
