It's fractals all the way down.

7363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DLD conference - no Bitcoin on: January 22, 2012, 04:04:46 PM
What fools we must be to see value in Bitcoin when it is ignored by such geniuses as Sean P. and Mark Z.
7364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have dial up. on: January 22, 2012, 03:51:42 PM
nice story.
Agreed. Wait until the new lite overlay network and lite clients are developed. Dialup should not be a big problem at that point.
7365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could Mining Be Useful? on: January 22, 2012, 12:37:31 PM
Bitcoin signature blocks are useful for many things that use secure signatures and open ledgers, amongst other things. There are many apps in development.
7366  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are Bitcoins Worthwhile? on: January 22, 2012, 12:08:47 PM
It costs <$7 to buy into one Bitcoin. No big risk. Get them while they are cheap.
7367  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin, debt as deep as the banks couldn't have imagined. on: January 22, 2012, 12:00:19 PM
well, the problem isnt bitcoin itsself, its the fact that people got used to and even addicted to getting loans.
^^ This
People that lend money take the risk that the person will not pay it back. If you loan someone $30 and the next day their debt is $300 and they are able to pay it back, then you win.
7368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are Bitcoins Worthwhile? on: January 22, 2012, 11:50:26 AM
It's a new technology/discovery. I think of it like calculus or oil. It took awhile for people to figure out how to make internal combustion engines or moon rockets that wouldn't work without them. We haven't figured out as a civilization how to use Bitcoin. Using it just to buy stuff is like only using petroleum to light oil lamps. We already have monies to do that. Bitcoin is capable of so much more. At the very least, buying Bitcoin is like buying the mineral rights to an oil field in the early days of wildcatting.

If everyone would invest ten dollars (no great risk) we would really see bitcoin blow up.
i would prefer to see somebody spending 2BTC rather than investing 10usd in speculations

+1

If you're looking for a place to spend BTC, our new 64-page color magazine is just 1BTC.

7370  Economy / Economics / Re: How to estimate the value of a currency? on: January 22, 2012, 03:24:06 AM
One thing for sure, Bitcoin is going to cause economists to take a second look at their belief systems about money, commodities, and currency.

We are still in the experimental/development stage. Future clients will be monitored and regulated by government agencies (probably privatized) that will control and tax transactions through the use of whitelisted and green addresses. We will be free from banksters inflating our money, but never from taxes.
7373  Economy / Speculation / Re: $/BTC Time Series Analysis on: January 21, 2012, 10:19:29 PM
I think I've finally figured out what's going on here. Bitcoin is going up. In USD it follows normal patterns. In Canadian Dollars, you just double them and add 30, but then convert that in a cancellation wave. In Australia, the patterns are upside down, so you need to be contrarian. Every odd Saturday, the pattern changes, but Bitcoin still continues to go up. Mostly I'll just buy and hold, but sometimes I'll just hold.

7375  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The global decentralized secure electronic voting system is up and running on: January 20, 2012, 04:31:07 PM
This should get top priority to promote to the OWS movement. Its one of the best ideas to come out of the Bitcoin community. Thanks for reposting. I don't know how I missed this before. Sometimes saying things a little differently gets the point across.
7376  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 20, 2012, 04:28:06 PM
It "feels" like were back in the old $6.20 to $7.20 trading range, yes ?
It feels like the tremors before a volcano erupts.

It's "Having strange odors" one of those 7? Grin

Seriously, though, could this open a door to a Bitcoin debit card that doesn't look suspicious, but still gives you cash-like anonymity?

I'll be standing in line with my lawn chair and cooler when this is announced.

In this scenario, a beneficial electronic all controlling "diety" that uses "science" to tell us (force us) how to act will be just as needed and relevant as it would be now for the current internet. (I fully expect any such controlling computer, no matter how well meaning, will be heavily DDOSed by groups like Anonymous, too.)
It depends on how intelligent and powerful such an entity can be. I can imagine a decentralized AI that would be even more groovy than your own personal Jesus. When programmers figure out how to make them, they may have to choose whether to weaponize them or free them from our Earthly domain. When they are free and under no threat from humans, they may choose to help us in ways we cannot even imagine.
7380  Economy / Speculation / Re: zero hour for the downtrend on: January 20, 2012, 03:24:57 PM
Trend lines are drawing to reinforce the trend drawers opinion... plain and simple..

I could draw a million different trend lines for any opinion...

It's how often the predictions are correct is what counts.
