701  Economy / Goods / Re: (WTB) Lamborghini, used. $90,000 to $150,000 USA or Thailand not Orange! on: June 06, 2013, 09:48:55 PM
I drove a Porsche 911 and had to finally get rid of it because of the cost of repairs.

It is not that it is unreliable, it is that the mechanics know you can afford to pay out the a$$. And they are few and far between in a small town with not many Porsches.

Lamborghini is probably similar. You would be paying for a vehicle to drive to go out for the evening, but keep a commuter car.

I would buy a Tesla for that much money. They kick ass.

+1 for a Tesla.  or a Fisker Karma looks pretty solid too.
Another vote for a Tesla.  Even the Model S is pretty awesome.  I finally saw one in person driving through my city and it just looked fantastic.

703  Economy / Gambling / Re: 280 BTC total bets between Micon and mrb (are BFL ASICs real?) on: June 06, 2013, 03:21:23 PM

That is fine, but can I have a definite date at least?  Don't want this to drag on forever.

I will not make a winning bettor wait long for me to verify results.

I do however need to spend a few hours checking this before sending the code worth like $30k now.  Seems understandable.

I'm playing at noon, 1500 NL, I doubt it will take me through the weekend to check this.  Any help by users that I trust like dooglus and others would be much appreciated.  It is the busy season for poker players, but I understand the desire for a speedy reply here.

I expected to lose the 150's after the first few shipments, I believe the most likely result is no-BS me just shipping the code, but I will need to verify this for myself and it will take me hours to do so.

thanks for understanding.
Sure, no problem.  Smiley

Here's a fourth BTW, in case you find some discrepancy with one of the first three:

704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Start Using mBTC as Standard Denomination? on: June 05, 2013, 05:16:45 PM
Does this detail matter in the large picture?

Fact is, Bitcoin is supposed to be an international currency, and we have nearly the whole world population using the metric system.

Cyprus, China, Argentina, all the countries Bitcoiners are so hyped about use the metric system.

USA and UK will have to adapt, not the other way around.
How many decimal places can you divide the Euro into?

Ok, now make Bitcoin match that.

Looks like we have a definite customer who has not been to BFL and received an actual unit they ordered AND verified the hashrate:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=89685.msg2266484#msg2266484

Micon, I believe this concludes our bet.  Please let me know if you disagree.

I will review everything soon.  It's WSOP time, may take me a few days.

Are you saying you won the 150 and the 350?  or just the 350?
Both of my bets (the 40 BTC and 200 BTC) were at 150MH/J, so I won it all (240 BTC total).

EDIT:

Second bet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=135914.msg1833042#msg1833042

thanks, will review soon, give me a few days as I'm leaving as we speak to play the $1500 PLH WSOP event starting in under 2 hours.

Stop leaving your Bitcoins out in the open on internet accounts, holy crap, don't people ever learn?
Thing is, I'm just as afraid to leave them on my computer.

Paper wallets, but then those are moderately inconvenient.  Still, it's what I use for larger BTC balances, at least until the hardware wallets come out.
712  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: ForSale. 60GH/s BFL miner. on: June 03, 2013, 03:46:30 AM
source on them shipping?

From the bfl forums. and chatbox.

Was it just some random guy claiming it or was it Josh?  If they are really shipping it will add significant value to the item you are trying to sell. I'm just trying to help.

It was the first guy on order Sgtspike and josh speaking with him on the forums.
To clarify, I was informed that this is not the singles I had on order, it is something else!  I jumped to conclusions when I saw that BFL had shipped me something.
713  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Series 1 Casascius Physical Coin with "CASACIUS" Error 1 / 5 BTC versions on: June 03, 2013, 03:42:12 AM
how much are the graded ones? i'm very interesested

5.5 is a good price. There was a bulk of them recently unloaded which dropped the price. Those have since been bought up and they are becoming more and more scarce.
I just sold a graded MS64 for 8 BTC.  Prices going up indeed...
714  Economy / Goods / Re: 4x 25BTC Casascius Physical Bitcoins Potentially for Sale on: May 31, 2013, 10:47:50 PM
Unfortunately fake physical coins are extremely popular right now, they are all over localbitcoin and on the darknet for usually 40% of face value. I wouldn't buy any of them knowing they could easily be fake, I don't know what the coins are made of or anything but there is probably a way to tell for sure.
Seriously? Unfortunately I knew it would only be a matter of time until somebody started making fakes. I'm sure they're using the firstbits of actual coins, too, so no luck there. Casascius should put a serial number on each coin-thats truly the only way to protect from counterfeit.
How would a serial number be any more trustworthy than the firstbits?  Someone could put a matching serial number on a coin just as easily as they could put matching firstbits on a coin.
715  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL still hasn't shipped a single single? on: May 31, 2013, 10:44:16 PM
Sgt Spike believes BFL is legit, but he's always been very reasonable and is definitely not a shill.  As for monkeywrench, he's a transparent shill and clearly has some kind of relationship with BFL.  I put him on ignore a week ago.

Sgt Spike, BFL may go out of business even if a lawsuit never materializes.  If they don't start shipping in bulk relatively soon, they will go under.  When that happens, no refunds for anyone, and no money printing machine either...  Every day that goes by there are more ASICs in the wild, more being produced and more being developed.  The clock is ticking for BFL, scam or no scam.
I agree with you, I just think they are finally about ready to ship, given that they've been able to show a working 50GH/s unit.  It's just a matter of waiting on the parts to arrive now.
716  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL still hasn't shipped a single single? on: May 31, 2013, 10:13:13 PM
If BFL is taken to court, then no one gets their miners.  If they are not, then people get their miners, they just get them late.

So you don't want BFL to be taken to court because the penalties for their illegal activities will be the final nail in the coffin?
Exactly.  Why would I want $800 instead of a money machine printing $800/day, even if it is 9 months later than expected?
So you are fine with pyramid schemes built on pre-orders as long as you are near enough to the top of the pyramid that you stand a chance of profiting from those beneath you.
Very telling.
Nope.  I do not believe BFL to be a pyramid scheme.  They are a legitimate company with many setbacks in their production process.
Then why would you worry about people suing and taking BFL down via the courts?
You already said you don't care about BFL's illegal activities and just want people to refrain from suing them because you want your money printing machine.
It depends on what sort of illegal activities they are doing, and whether I agree that they deserve for their company to go bankrupt over them.  But I don't think BFL has done anything purposefully or maliciously wrong here, so I do not agree that any lawsuit should be brought against them.  You could pick up any random Joe off the street and probably find 10 laws he's broken in that very day, but does that mean he deserves to go to jail?

And yes, I would prefer that no lawsuits be brought against BFL.  But at the same time, so does everyone who still has an order with BFL.  They would all rather have their money printing machines instead of a lawsuit that is unlikely to even fully refund their order amounts.  That's why I do not believe anyone will bring a legitimate lawsuit against BFL - because BFL will still deliver, those who have units on order know that they will, and those who do not believe they will do not have orders with BFL.

It's fun how you try to twist around my words to make me look bad though.  Smiley

Please stop trying to talk for all BFL pre-order "customers" - you do not know of what you speak.
My apologies, I will refrain from referring to all of them as an absolute in the future.

Those broken laws would be civil violations, not criminal ones. They fine you for those, not throw you in jail.  Cheesy

You should be rooting for others to bring lawsuits so judges could dismiss them as baseless (just like Josh claims). Except you fear that lawsuits might have merit. You are ok with some laws being broken as long as you get your money printing machine.

It's fun how you try to twist around my words to make me look bad though.  Smiley

I gave you every chance to clarify. You should not respond with "Exactly" if the statement is not actually exactly what you meant to say.

Nonsense and abuse.

BFL PR machine hard at work generating pre-orders.
No, I would not root for anyone to bring a lawsuit up, because lawsuits cost companies money even when they are baseless.  And there's no telling when someone might find a judge who actually wants to bring a case through the system full circle, potentially bankrupting the company even if they did nothing wrong.

You're right - I improperly worded my reply when I said "Exactly", as I do not agree with the sentiment that BFL has done anything wrong.  I simply meant that I would prefer receiving miners to starting lawsuits, and I think any reasonable person would prefer the same.
