The biggest issue appears to be how to prevent fraud by double dipping

If I had a time machine last thing I would do is think of BTC investment. I would just simply change my life and the lives of people I know. As for the money wouldn't it be easier to just write down the lotery numbers?Cheesy You'd win few milion instantly and could forget about BTC or any other investment.

+1, btc would be the last of my worries hahahah. Why go through all the trouble of exchanges and such. JUST WIN A FEW LOTTERIES lol

Lol, very good point!

If you want to make money with a time machine quicker than with Bitcoin, I'd just go back in time and put it all on Leeds Utd getting further than any other team in the Champions League. Gotta be a good price Smiley

Bloody hell, now that IS going back in time. I don't think that such a device would be able to make it THAT far back Wink

Haha, true that! Maybe we could go back to when I was first told about Bitcoin then and I'd buy into it a that point   Roll Eyes

Not seem him in much other than Get Him to the Greek, Sarah Marshall and Superbad.

Isn't that pretty much all he's been in? haha

Haha, yeah pretty much. He's well different in the Wolf of Wall Street. Going to watch the rest of it tonight. Loooong film.

21/22 Jump Street will be paying his rent for a loooong time to come.

Also, Wolf was a long film, but felt super short. Get to it!!

Haha, I'm on it! Not seen the Jump Street duo. I'm not a big Channing Tatum fan. I think he did some good acting in Dear John (made to watch it!) but other than that I think he's pretty wooden. White House Down was ridiculous. The cheesiest film I've ever seen.

We're definitely in agreement over White House Down. I think Channing Tatum's got potential, but we'll see how it goes... 21 Jump Street showed that he's got decent comic timing as well, so maybe comedy is more his thing. Ah well.

Ah, maybe another Mark Wahlberg, I'll give the Jump Streets a go.

Shanghai Dumplings for the win

What are they? Sounds like a euphemism for something haha.

Haha, gunna give her some of my Shanghai Dumplings.

I dropped a couple of Shanghai Dumplings on her chest  Grin.

Hahaha, made me actually lol.

Certainly interesting, and may well be responsible for that slight jump you mentioned. It's now classified here as 'Money', which has to be good. Although I'm not sure about the licensing thing. Surely this is the government trying to take control and regulate Bitcoin?

This is a big reason that a lot of people in the UK are calling for revolution. Their are loads of protests that take place because of it. We might not be opressed physically or have it as bad as other countries, but our government is as corrupt as hell. Two of our main leaders went to court to DEFEND the banks for paying such big bonuses!

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/0f54735a-25f6-11e3-8ef6-00144feab7de.html

That particular link required a registration of sorts. If you could paste the full text to pastebin or something, that would be of help. Anyway, I've read about the UK. It's a society with big social differences, and the important positions are nearly all handed out to people who've been handed life on a silver plate, born into rich powerful families and then going to exclusive private schools. It seems like a lot of those people are completely detached from real life.

But the problem is, how do you get people to revolt when they do have food on their table and a roof above their head? Isn't this a revolution for intellectuals, for those who understand monetary policies and the banking system?

I mean, how much do the avg. joe know about inflation, and the inner workings of the financial system? And do he care at all?

Sorry, same story, different link: http://metro.co.uk/2013/09/25/taxpayers-foot-legal-bill-as-osborne-takes-on-europe-over-bankers-bonuses-4113431/

You're exactly right about the power being gifted, rather than awarded.

Regarding the food thing, not everyone is that privelaged. We have a massive difference in social classes in terms of opportunity and wealth.

You are probably right about this being more of a revolution for intellectuals, but we're always reading here about how our MPs have been claiming back stupid expenses from our tax money (like getting their moat cleaned).

I'm venting of course, but it's worth looking into further. I don't think the UK will revolt any further than these protests we're seeing, mainly due to the reasons you identified. Every-day people don't care because they have what they need. They are essentially paid-off and made ignorant by the people running the country so they can fly under the radar and live it up on tax-payers money.

They're defending each other (MPs and banks etc.) for the same reason I would defend those that I owed favors to.

They won't have everything they need if benefits are getting cut continually and other sanctions are being imposed. Even those who work can find it hard to survive when the rate or living is rising and the minimum wage isn't. Look at the London Riots that happened a couple of years ago. They brought the city of London to its knees and it spread like wildfire across the country. Imagine what we could do with peaceful protests or if people actually rioted for the right reasons - spending money on needless wars, selling off state-owned business for peanuts and bankers ruining the economy etc. Why is it that HSBC bankers laundered drug money and nobody went to prison, but if you nicked a packet of rice in the riots you got sent down for it? Where's the justice? What would happen if we as a people stopped paying their wages? They only have power because we give it to them willingly.

Agreed. In answer to that question, it's simply because they're who they are. They just protect each other, the government and the banks. You're right in what you say about them having these powers because we give it, but without any proper leadership, revolution won't happen.

I'd love to go here and other places in Italy. I haven't read Inferno yet but have all his others. I know people slag Dan Brown off for not being the greatest of writers based on literary merit, but I just really love his stories and the books are so easy to get into.

Yeah, his books are fun and very light reads. It's refreshing to read a book of his once every couple of months since they're easy page turners.

I've only read Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons so far, though.

They're his best two, but The Lost Symbol is also good. Might try read Inferno on whatever the next holiday is I go on. Maybe Florence haha.

Yeah they're amazing. Lost Symbol is good. I know what you mean about thee literary element to his books, and I've seen all the critics' comments on it, but it doesn't matter so much when you have a good story I don't think. Although, his books do always leave me slightly deflated at the end when theirs no payoff. Like trying to masturbate immediately after masturbating.

Critics... As I do with movies, I usually take their word with a grain of salt. Either that, or I read their critical perspectives as entertainment itself. It's very rare for critics to be equally critical when evaluating works that have different purposes. So basically, with Brown being a writer who focuses less on prose and more on plot and entertainment value, I think he's successful in his endeavors.

Anyways... Maybe I should Inferno next summer in Florence as well!

Yeah fair point, he's definitely entertaining. Inferno will be a great read while there as, like all Dan Brown books, there are loads of references to the specific architecture. You'll be able to picture it perfectly.

Florence isn't a country either but we're all going there. You're right, but when Bitcoin goes to the moon, as mentioned, I'll be going with it Smiley

Remember, the two week period doesn't start for you when you sign up. The two week periods are global, so if you register after one week of the cycle, with enough posts, you'll be upgraded after just one week, when the levels refresh. This is what happened to me and confused me at first.

When does a cycle of 2 weeks start/finish?

Levels updated on the Monday just gone, so I imagine it will update again next on the 3rd Feb.
719  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: China withdraw issue? on: January 26, 2014, 02:04:15 PM
I have no confirmed information about this (and I think china financial discussion forums have more details) but I think the limitations are to BTC exchangers in general (the ones with banks and maybe registered) not just BTCChina.

Surely, like in the UK, the only regulation could possibly be around BTC exchanges (the funnels between Bitcoin and Fiat). They can't stop people from using it, but I can see why it would hurt the bitcoin economy if people aren't allowed to cash back out to fiat. If only because companies wouldn't adopt it. A company would only adopt it if their whole supply chain adopted it.
720  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you feel about this? on: January 26, 2014, 02:01:15 PM

I can't remember who it was who argued that Apple could pay more to these workers and change their lives, for some reason Gary Vaynerchuk comes to mind, but I don't think that it was him. But then if it is a drastic difference then it can have effects on the economy in those countries. Would be nice though if Apple took the hit on their profits to make the lives of their workers even just a little more comfortable.

We must also realize what looks as bad conditions in our eyes, may not necessarily be bad conditions in another country. The alternative may be no job, and go starving.

True but if that is accepted then thing will never improve on the status quo.

Yeah, and we're just as bad as the people who directly implement the conditions.
