There seems to exist a subconscious inhibition which whispers to the individual, "Bitcoin might end. Bitcoin might die. Bitcoin might go away. ....
these whispers should end when you reach "Hero Member" status Its true! Well, actually when I got to hero member I sort of lost interest in Bitcoin. Hi You have been removed from the [signature] campaign. btw, congratz on becoming hero member. But I think i'm back. A bit.

You have created 'auto import.....' can that not generate a date when the key is found and imported into the address book?
That could be part of the rules - must use auto-import to give a found date.
Perhaps bots are just going to be something to put up with?
Sounds like we'll need an entry process...perhaps, sign this 500 SPR transaction as your evidence of entry and the payout will go to that address, once it is used to transact with SatoshiNakamoto1?
This is getting more complicated by the second. lol
To have any validity, everything must be verified thru the blockchain and nothing else. (auto-import is just a simple qt-wallet function) Maybe they can ask the servicenodes for something that they use to generate the private key, (something that can be proven to have been used and something that involves time). Then once the address is found, the owner has 72 hours to claim the prize.

What's the point of spending time recompiling if there are some existing builds out there to play with and compare, especially when the time is better spent building a new direction?
For a second I thought you were thinking that I am Mr. Space.

The source link still works, so maybe someone can compile it?

Guess we might need a new video from our latest hero member. Ok, I'm on it. Hopefully it will be done in the next two weeks. I'm out of sync by about 6 weeks, lol.

Haha, have you guys seen the state of reddit? Lots of subreddits being set to private. Now everyone is moving to voat. Its pretty cool to watch. So many people are visiting the site that it went down. lol Voat needs a better colour scheme, but its basically a clone or reddit using reddit's open source code? Yeah, it's supposed to be a clone. I just noticed, I'm a Hero Member now! I guess that's cool. I really wanted to have cool text highlights in my signature.

Some people were thinking he might be the Spreadcoin dev. The funny thing is, the Spreadcoin dev, (Mr. Spread) actually lost his private keys to 80k of Spreadcoin. Then he got donations and kept developing. Then he suddenly left. Just like Satoshi! (sort of)

Is this happening? OMG this is awesome! And bad. So, do you guys think they will be raising the limit? Or doing something else like telling everyone to pay up with higher fees?

Next update.
correctly showing estimated time for a 50% Chance of finding an address:
...
Do not show the private key! If someone has a screencapture (hack or just a vnc visitor, etc) he can see the private key too, so the key is not "private" any more. If someone has captured a users computer the way you describe all hope is lost anyway. But here's an update just for you. A "Show Privkeys" Checkbox: BTW, vanitygen shows its privkeys in clear text, and even all wallets will post a privkey in clear text when you do a dumpprivkey. So ... I guess if you feel secure at home with your computer you can let "your private parts hang out"? Can you make it so that if your wallet is locked, you need to put your password in to see the private keys? I guess you would need to put in your password when you start generating them too in order for that to work. Eh maybe not.

I like the new signature! I really need to get my post count up. Sorry. I've sort of lost interest in bitcoin & altcoins a bit, but I still follow my favourite one. I never thought i'd say that.

Who can guess what this is: I was waiting for an explanation, but it never came. What is this? edit: Just as I thought, it is Hal Finney's wallet and you can see the first ever transaction of 10 btc at the bottom.

I would hang on to it. There is always the possibility that you will eventually remember the password, or that you essentially do remember it and are neglecting to include a single or a string of characters.
For example, you may remember it as hunter2 when in actuality it is hunter2!
I thought I forgot my password for my wallet after not using it for 3 months. It turns out the last word in my password didn't start with a capital letter and I thought it did.

Mining difficulty went through the roof.
From 4 to 12 in hours!
The difficulty was on 4?? Aww man, that would have been a good time to mine. Maybe I should start mining again. Hopefully it drops down soon. I was thinking about new wallet features. It's probably too late now, but maybe we could have a block reward ETA in the mining tab where you put in a block reward amount and the wallet figures out how long it would take (in years, days, hours, seconds) for the block reward to be equal or below the amount you specified. It would be nice to know when the block reward drops down below 3.3. It gives you an idea of the rate of decline from the current block. Edit: Just reading that first paragraph that I wrote gave me another wallet feature. It would be good it you can tell the wallet to start mining when the difficulty drops below a number and stop mining when the difficulty goes above another number. (I was thinking this would only be CPU mining but I guess it could work for GPU mining by making the wallet stop giving work to the miner)
