In any case, you're right but you don't lose any coins and you could solve it with a -rescan.
|
|
|
That's not the problem, kiklo.
If you send coins with computer 1, computer 2 does not know a possible new generated change (back) address. After some time, you have 2 different wallets with a different coin amount and many different key pairs. It ends up in chaos. A wallet is a container for many private and public keys - like a key chain. Amount of coins is a summation of all addresses.
Just the opposite: NXT has one private and one public key. You can use it where ever you want - simultaneously.

|
|
Caution. Please - never use the same wallet on different devices. They will drift and you will lose coins. Sharing a wallet among multiple computers ends up going badly. After 100 addresses, a wallet generates 100 further random addresses. You can use ONE wallet on an external device - but never copy the wallet to different devices.

Does anyone else have orphan issue beside me? I haven't notice as much before and started Zeitcoin with the repairwallet didn't remove them.
You cannot remove them. It's how POS works. Everything seems OK.

neither is most of my hardware What kind of PC hardware isn't windows compatible? It's the same procedure with every other os. Downloading from the beginning doesn't take multiple weeks. Here's a short overview:Complete chain download: 3-6 days. (multiple wallet restarts required because of the max orphan memory value [default: 750]) Bootstrap import: 10-24h. (multiple restarts, same known issue as above) Chain Snapshot: 0h + [rest time] The maximum orphan block value is a security feature of many coins including bitcoin. Some coins have a -maxorphanblocks parameter. Changing that value isn't recommendable.

Ray, Kiklo, (Ebolansk?) Just in case this ISN'T just fudding by the powers that be, maybe we should have some kind of response ready? http://presschain.com/decentralized-malware-on-the-blockchain/The research focus revolves around the threat of embedding decentralized chunks of malware on the blockchain by either hosting it or referencing it with cascaded pointers. Transactions and data are encrypted throughout the blockchain networks using different versions of public/private key encryption. Could malware survive eternally inside crypto-transactions? A proof of concept will be explained highlighting the concerns revolving around the “abuse and bloating” of the blockchain while comparing it to previous malware hosting and deployment models. Yes, it is possible. You can store everything in the blockchain in different ways. But you need a software to activate the malware on your device or computer. You can store virus signatures, pictures, audio files, compiled code etc. That's no secret - it's the chain's nature. A possible way to do that: http://www.cryptograffiti.info/All you need to know is the blockhigh where it starts/ends (pointer). Example: http://www.cryptograffiti.info/?txnr=2194Transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/0913d8125167f728cec1b95d27e6fc62a7a45af35eecfefd3b5000e367ee1468

Can't find a link to a snapshot. Been holding a good hoard of zeit for 51 weeks now. Spent most of februari trying to sync up the new wallet.
This 1 adress rule for proof of knightship is just great.
Why didn't you follow the instructions on the official website or download the bootstrap? There isn't any 1 address rule. It's the easiest way for us, but you can give us more than 1 addresses. Visit: http://www.zeit-coin.net for bootstrap download. (Copy bootstrap.dat into your zeitcoin directory) orhttp://www.zeit-coin.net/update for snapshot versions. (direct link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/52j5voifa7g5ge6/ZeitCoin-Blockchain.zip) (faster than bootstrap import) Cheers, Ray

JJ might be new here, but he is certainly not new to crypto.
I can vouch for his technical abilities through my experiences over at CoinBlab.
His ideas may not fit in with our ideas of how to progress, but perhaps we should, at the very least, be a little bit grateful that someone from outside our community thinks we are worth including in large-scale projects.
You're right - sorry.

Hello Ladies and GentleKnights!
Would someone be able to point me in the direction of a windows ZeitCoin daemon? I am working on testing a project that will hopefully become a windows multi-coin wallet. Some of my friends use ZeitCoin, and I would like to be able to have it as a supported coin.
Thanks! JJ12880
You could compile it yourself. It's the safest way. A Multiwallet (only for win) with different (standalone) Full-Node-Services makes no sense. User has an amount of 300 GB in chains with 40 daemons running - why should anyone do that? You need a solution like Electrum with multiple coins without having fullnodes. You are a newbie and you're asking for precompiled code for your project? Excuse me, but how would you realize a mammoth project like that? It's as useless like a cigar without tobacco. Cheers, Zay (please don't think about .NET GUI with multiple RPC calls to different daemons. Nobody needs something like that)

BTER is back....
|
|
|
Just saw the news about BTER. Seems I took a hit. I hope not too many others were affected. We were warned. Here's the latest on what BTER have to say on their website :- Question 1: If it's a cold wallet, how can the coins be stolen?
Question 2: Are we fated in that just as we get to the top of a coin vote poll, the exchange closes down!? We were at least 8th out of 256 and rising faster than all the other coins on BTER.Q1: Inside job. If you have the private key everything is possible. Cold storage isn't a solution. Thief can import the key --> the wallet is hot. Different scenario: Bruteforcing with vanitygen, high calculation power and a lot of luck. (watch my signature - It took ~10 Minutes with an old AMD card.) There are some webpages with thousands of random-generated keypairs - If a key matches with an existing key (let's say the thief is monitoring all accounts >1000 BTC against his database) he would be the winner. And the next question could be: Is "thief" the right term then? (I don't know how key generation in Bitcoin core works, but if it works with a system time randomizer, you could try to generate addresses with a manipulated system time. But that's only a thought.) A "good" key generation could be: Mouse moving + personal message + systime + actual CPU temperature + ID of the third process in your taskmanager + hash of the current block. Had too much beer today. Cheers, Ray You're alright. Everyone deserves a drink every now and then. In fact have another. I have a question to ask you. Say a large number of Bitcoins went missing at a big exchange and you had the blockchain info, how would you 'chase it back' so that the person responsible would be identified and the coins recovered? Let's pluck a random figure out of the air ... completely out of the blue ... say 7170 BTC for instance ... and the blockchain info was ... hmmmm, let me think ... let's say:- https://blockchain.info/tx/f5b0363f03e1ed8bb812c135361ea93590c831ce9f13a3750be1b93575baccc6Purely hypothetical of course, but how would you do it? Now take your time ... nice and slow, while I take notes ... The thief will get 720 BTC bounty for sending the stolen coins (-10%) back. No tracing, no fear, no lawsuits and no hitmen - everyone is happy with the solution and the thief would become a hero. It isn't easy to change 7170 BTC into bucks without exposing your identity, am I right? Cheers

Parallel block downloading: could this be Zeitcoin's Manhattan Project? The other side have got it. The first altcoin to get it will be the new Litecoin.
Did not read the article but the zeit client allows bootstraping (import the chain via file instead of the network). I think it's not a big deal. Everything we need is available - we simply have to put it together. Cheers

Hi Knights, please send me your 'official Forum' name. I will give you access to Arthur's table there within the next few days. If you have no account there, please let me know. thx in adviz Edit: http://forum.zeit-coin.net PM zeit@zeit-coin.net

I have no confidence that this would going to work. We reserve the right to add new coins to the markets outside of the voting list. @Mitras: You cannot compare Comkort with BTER.com. Comkort is really, really great - but it's very young (which is an important factor in the Cryptosphere) The big players are not yet on Comkort - Maybe at the end of 2015. Nobody knows. Cheers, Ray
