721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: June 07, 2015, 12:23:07 PM
The richlist is seeing a pretty unhealthy distribution at the moment, which may be a symptom of developmental delays.  This is a tough coin to market at the moment, but i'm keeping the faith along with some btc on standby in the event we drop to .00003 again.

welp, I've managed to disregard my previous purchasing hesitations and picked up a few more servicenodes worth today.  namely for the reason that while a decline in price is concomitant with delays in development, if it does manage to drop to say .00003 I feel this will be an extremely short window given the scope, ambition, and talent associated with this project.

+101

Can confirm people have their heads down working away creating awesomeness.

Here's some awesomeness: http://youtu.be/JE12kCbeHVk

No but seriously, when will the new wallet be ready? / testing begins?

C-cex need "some" more traded volume on MOTO/BTC  Sad
So we need
MOTO:    0.01 BTC (0.00%)

at least 5.9 BTC traded until 17/06/2015  Undecided

I didn't ever know they brought MOTO back.
Me neither. They never posted it in here.

Hey guys I stumbled into this:

What the hell. You can at least provide a reason or something.

They don't like fud and criticism.. should ask yourself why
Did sparkster FUD or anything? Maybe an ip issue.

MrSpace, I would just like to know what I did for you to be like this.
I can't think of anything.

MOTOcoin !
What about it?

The developers left and the website has expired and no one on there talks. How is that my fault?

Hey Georgem, got an ETA on the release of that sexy new wallet?  Grin

I can't wait fo dat shyt boi. Is coo.
It is going to be so awesome, I really like it. I'd like to know how you change the wallet layout. Is it a text editing thing or is there a GUI?

^^^ This is why I don't like Spreadcoin, it has 15 year old groupies sucking up to the dev's ass to be "Officially" part of the development team.

Every time I see the username e1ghtSpace I prepare my mind to be dumbfu#ked by what I'm about to read, dude you make total irrational sense, you even get lost in your own instructional videos !!!

After all it is coming from this kids mouth.

I wish you all at SPR good luck while he is in your community, a Sheep at its finest he is right there, say jump and he will reply with how high ?
I can't believe this kid thinks I'm scared of him. I don't even care that he has a super low quality photo of me.
I don't even want to be part of the development team. What would I even do?
Why are you making these comments?

I don't know about the zoom level, I mean, when I am playing to mine, I am zoomed all the way out.
But I think we could change the levels if you want. I just think, close zoom is bad because you can't see any boulders ahead.

THE DIFFICULTY CHANGED!!

getmininginfo

{
"blocks" : 2491,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 0.01562500,
"errors" : "",
"generate" : false,
"genproclimit" : -1,
"hashespersec" : 0,
"pooledtx" : 0,
"testnet" : false
}

I noticed my initial sync was 5 days behind. So I guess the dev timed the launch to be 1 hour before the retarget so that the difficulty would change appropriately.

diff retarget 10 hours make this coin worthless, was a good idea tho.
We should fork it and make retarget every 10 blocks.

Main.cpp:

Code:
 static const int64 nTargetTimespan = 36000;
changed to:
Code:
 static const int64 nTargetTimespan = 600;

Getmininginfo gives:

difficulty" : 0.00390625,

But I think the output is wrong.

Did anyone ran anti virus? Is it safe?
Yes I did and it is safe.

Gavin Andersen proposing to fork Bitcoin?

http://sourceforge.net/p/bitcoin/mailman/message/34155307/

A few days ago I heard him "flirting" with 1 min blocktime... http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/35hpkt/please_remind_me_once_again_why_we_cant_decrease/cr4wk0g

He is looking for change!

Soon he will start his YES WE CAN campaign.
lol

So we need to run bitcoin core and bitcoin xt, just in case  Grin

or gavin andresen will be put in an asylum, whatever happens first.
Changing coin protocol that late is a big NO NO!
I was wading through the comments and I found a very nice argument:

If the average block propagation time in the whole network is 6 seconds today, that would (in my humble opinion) bring to a let's say 1/10 chance of losing your block/having an orphaned blockchain. But that's averaged across the whole network. If everyone loses 10% of their blocks no one does.
The analysis is more complicated than that. Even if we assume there's a 6 second delay, and then everyone else hears about your block at the same time, there's still not a 10% chance of being orphaned, because the pool who found the block will switch immediately to mining the next block.
For example, if a pool has 10% of the network hash rate, as soon as it finds a block we have 90% of the network mining orphans and 10% mining the next block. This gives a 9% chance of the block being orphaned. Now lets imagine the pool has 30% hash rate. Now the block only has a 7% chance of being orphaned.
The bigger the pool, the less competing hash rate there is to orphan their blocks. This creates an advantage for large pools, which encourages centralization. The smaller you make the block interval, the more it favours large central pools. We should be careful about anything that gives centralized advantages.

This is probably the best counter argument so far. But still, a 5 minutes block time now with the prospective of lowering it in the future as the network capabilities improve can't hurt.

So much for "Decentralise Everything". If no one is going to actually reply to my last post, how will anyone take Spreadcoin seriously?

maybe they are busy mate ...

i think its a great way to do pretty much anything on the net nowadays ...

but the concept really is still theory and chatter rather than implementation at the moment ...

this will take time to get the base implemented and with that time - there will be interest - but not so much activity ...

at least - thats my take on it all ...

#crysx

actually, georgem and i have already discussed it, and agreed that its a worthwhile thing to do, but it is not going to be worked on until we have servicenodes up and running, and converted to core anyway...

Great work eight! I'd love to see something like that implemented.

But judging by the pace of development where talking months maybe a year to get to that point, which is unfortunate.

We do need the SN NETWORK 1st and foremost, as this will draw more community support.
Ok thanks, I was just getting annoyed that I had posted that about 5 times and no one looked like they cared because no one replied.

Decentralized github....love it!

http://blog.printf.net/articles/2015/05/29/announcing-gittorrent-a-decentralized-github/

Decentralize everything, yay!
Thank you! Here is an explanation for a true "No-pool" coin:

Quote from: that_link_in_coins101's_post
If you care about avoiding this, Bitcoin has a way around it, and it works by making registration a two-step process. Your first message would be asking to reserve a username by supplying just the hash of that username. The miners don’t know from the hash what the username is so they can’t beat you to registering it, and once you see that your reservation’s been included in the blockchain and that no-one else got a reservation in first, you can send on a second comment that says “okay, now I want to use my reservation token, and here’s the plain text of that username that I reserved”. Then it’s yours.

Swap the registering of usernames  to the registering of a mined block.

So basically to create a no pool coin, we need to make each block not relating to an address or private key at all.
Then, when a miner finds a valid block, he submits a hash of (the block + his address) to the servicenodes and then when it has a few servicenode confirmations he submits the block + address in plaintext (or whatever) and then if a hash of the plaintext miners block + address matches his earlier one, the block reward is credited to his submitted address.

This way if a miner is mining for a pool and they find a block, the can swap the pool's address their own and be credited with the coins without the pool knowing.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Casting out nines' instead of leading zeros on Proof of Work on: May 29, 2015, 11:19:52 AM
That would be interesting. I think this is a cool little project someone could work on, maybe an altcoin.

I wonder if ASICs could still function efficiently. Does anyone know?
Maybe instead of leading, it could be ending in nines.

How can OP mark it as extremely hard ? Its very easy one.
It's impossible. Therefore you can't answer it. So it is hard.

*Edit* Oh.. what bearing... and who the hell is Rita...
Yeah lol, it was just a joke.  Grin

Anyway, I got the answer right.

You need to find the height and width of the two triangles and subtract one from the other. Then you have 1 small triangle and then you can find the bearing.
