huh?

I'm sure you are alt of the following users

Ripster
vickersja

Maybe you are planning to scam peoples with fake escrow service. huhuh.

I am neither an alt of Ripster or of vickersja - Ripster was party to a prior sale I escrowed here on the forums and vickersja mines on one of the pools I mine on (kano.is) and we are all members here at the forums - that does not mean we involved in an elaborate escrow scam.

Phil has done many escrow deals and has done quite a few for me. he has stated numerous times that he wants to take less escrow deals because of the work involved - I asked him if he thought I should start offering escrow services, he told me to go ahead! So, here I am doing just that.

I want to start offering escrow services.

Let me preface by saying that it is not my intention to take away business from anyone else that is performing escrow services - just to provide another option.
That being said, I don't want to incur anyone's wrath by offering to do escrow services. That is why I wanted to ask you if it would be appropriate for me to do this.

Based on the work that goes into managing the deals vs what small amount is received for doing so, I don't see it as a form of income, rather I see it mainly as a means to bring up my trust level on the forums and to give members another trusted escrow option - though I know we have quite a few already.

I am just looking for feedback and I trust your judgement and opinion.

I could use a vacation.  Feel free to offer them.
1 to 2% is the common fee  with maybe a 5  dollar minimum fee.

I mostly charge 1.5%  unless it is a 5000 or 10000 dollar deal.

I urge you to be very careful with newbies.
Also If you can make it for hard goods no digital stuff.

especially cryptocoin sales
and gift cards

both have separate legal risk.

if you escrow coin deals you could face money laundering .

if you escrow gift cards you are not in the clear from cc charge backs for 6 months.

I have one alt account - Mopar Mining - I do not use that account except for the one time when my account was hacked. I was able to post and get assistance to prove that this account is my primary
account.

i already sold off half my hash rate and based on the specs/prices of the S19 I am already regretting it. Guess I better keep the half I have and keep mining or sell it and just hodl the btc for now

7311  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: What is escrow and how does it work? on: March 23, 2020, 08:30:19 PM
those that provide the escrow services are those individuals that have been here for quite some time, who have been involved in deals/trades/sales and have always shown themselves to be trustworthy.

I am one of the newer individuals offering escrow services and I also have 100% positive ratings (as do the other escrow providers) I hope to escrow more dealings and increase that trust as well.

The fee paid for escrow will ultimately be quite a bit cheaper than the fees you pay for eBay - that and most often the buyer pays the escrow fees.

Let me know if I can be of service if you do bring those over here to the forums to sell Smiley

Thanks.  So I see the fees are usually set by the person offering the escrow service and payable by the buyer.  True?

Also, is PayPal a standard method of payment?  I don't yet have an ample supply of Bitcoin and want to hold as much as I can for the rebound.

yes - the fees are set by the escrow service - and typical for the buyer to pay - unless seller offers to pay - has happened but more often to not it is the buyer that pays it.  My fee is 1%

and typically no, the payment is not with paypal. to do so would mean the escrow would have to pay 2.9% fee and then the seller would also pay a 2.9% fee - If i recall, 2.9% is the paypal fee for receiving funds.

as the seller, you would not be paying though - but if you were the buyer, you could always just use the USD in your paypal account to buy btc to make a purchase without touching what you are hodl'ing.

we shall see.
7315  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: March 23, 2020, 05:59:52 PM
i think there will be plenty of big farms that will dump current miners and buy these up.
7316  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: March 23, 2020, 04:55:00 PM
Yea they are on damn crack thinking $2900 lmao.  Anyone who buys this gear at that price I feel no sympathy for when you most likely get screwed.  So essentially $3000+ for something that at CURRENT market (Not even talking about after halving which would have to be double what it is now JUST TO BE THE SAME as current earnings) brings in like $2-3 a day.  You would need to really really be uneducated on essentially everything to buy at this price.

well if I had one today - at current diff/btc price i would bring in about $10.50 a day with about 4.30 for electric so just around $6 per day profit.

once the market is flooded with them - it will drop fast unless btc price climbs.
7317  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: March 23, 2020, 02:44:57 PM
agreed. I need there to be a miner that sticks around like the S9 did...

76.

I will take spot 76 if still available. and thank you for the raffle!
7319  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: March 23, 2020, 02:18:18 PM
I agree that for that price for a delivery date AFTER halving is insane. and not having options for controlling the speed is another "doh" moment.

Sadly, many will buy these, difficulty will climb and those of us who use older gear will get left behind with diminishing profits.

Though, I am glad to see this next coming diff drop. will be refreshing to see it go the other way for once.

That being said, I have sold half my T17's so hoping to sell the other half soon so I can buy 2100 non pro version. It is at least still better efficiency and looks to be 800 less than the pro version, though 15 th less as well.

Or maybe I dont sell the other T17s and just keep those going - though after halving, unless price goes up considerably they will no longer be profitable. I dont want to exit mining but its gonna be a tough field to be in unless some things change.

I have 3 acres, i wonder if a wind turbine would be worth it for me then. enough space and no HOA to complain.

My solar helps but as a 10kw system, its not generating enough to cover much.
