There isn't technically a Bitcoin Ap for the Iphone, but I made the following video showing how to send and receive Bitcoins from your iPhone. It is almost as easy as having a dedicated application. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions you may have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QPZGylKWFk

On a similar vein, memorydealers, if you are reading this, I have no idea what happened to the 3 BTC I donated to one of the earlier 'charity' efforts which was escrowed by Bruce (or at least that was the initial plan.) I was to humiliated to see if there was any accounting or follow-up. If that wallet is still kicking around and funded and in your control, I'm happy if you remove the 3 BTC and use it toward this cause.
3 BTC sent on behalf of tvbcof I'll update the Bitcoin for charity thread soon as well.

I'm happy to contribute a decent amount of Bitcoins as well.
I didn't see it mentioned, but I don't think using Instawallet is the best idea for this. Any Bitcoins at unclaimed URLs will be lost.
Lets make this project happen!

I don't really care about moral arguments against taxation because they boil down to semantics. Wether you're paying a government or private security firms, research organizations, road owners, etc. it doesn't make a difference.
You are avoiding the question at hand. McDonalds has never threatened to lock me in a cage if I refuse to buy their Hamburger. The US Government threatens to lock me in a cage if I refuse to pay for their wars. This is much more than mere semantics.

While I disagree with the conclusions you have drawn from your graphs, I am more interested in hearing about how you disagree with the moral argument against taxation presented here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngpsJKQR_ZE

I've also had wonderfully smooth transactions with Jeremy every time. I wish everyone did business the same way he does. He makes it easy to be a satisfied customer.

America is banned, see the main board for details... this doesn't affect any depositors. America's a rogue country, in defiance of WTO rules, and we're tired of their citizens consistently lying to us about their identity. We hope our Canadian, South American, Asian and European players will understand and appreciate our efforts toward increased legitimacy and legality, even if it costs us some play-cash action.
Can you please post a link to the "main board" mentioned above? Are US Citizens living abroad allowed to play? (I've been in Japan nearly 6 years now)

The advantage of not having fees does not materialize for the client, so he's unlikely to care that the shop is saving money. The customer drives the demand for a payment method - the shops are forced to follow or loose market share. The shops would get rid of credit cards in a hart beat if they could get the customers to pay with cash.
So aside of the phony geek appeal, what does this system offer to the customer ? Credit cards offer interest free loans for up to 2 months, emergency funding past that period, and money back guarantee. Bitcoin offers final indisputable transactions - why do you think customers will prefer it ? Don't even get me started on the clunky desktop client that kills your harddrive.
I can tell you exactly why customers AND merchants will prefer it for online payments. I've spent the last 10 days trying to order two Android tablets from Alibaba express with my credit card that has a California billing address. I'm trying to have one tablet shipped to myself in Tokyo, and another to a developer in New York. Alibaba seems to think that my order is CC fraud in action. I've submitted copies of my Passport, my local government ID, photos of the Credit card itself, photocopies of the Credit card statement that was sent through the mail, and more. All of these have been submitted multiple times, yet they still keep canceling my order due to fraud concerns! I've wasted several hours of my life trying to convince them that I am not a scammer with a stolen credit card. If I had been allowed to pay with Bitcoins, none of these problems would have existed. I would already have my tablets, and Alibaba and myself would have saved hours of time! Instead, I am still waiting to see if they will accept the last batch of documents I submitted.

So what is the advantage to using this over Visa/MC? No chargebacks?
Yep and you get geek/libertarian cred. And save thousands of dollars a month in credit card fees depending on the sales volume.

I think you should change your thread title from "Instawallet Problems" to "My computer problems".
No need to create false alarm with a sensationalist title.
Good luck with the issue!

Challenge submitted.
Your challenge is $9,800 short. http://longbets.org/611/Other than that, I think it is a well reasoned response. Thanks. I'd be willing to make an actual $10,000 bet with you, but not one where I lose the money either way. I would gladly agree to that, but betting where bettors keep the money winnings is defined as gambling and is illegal throughout the United States. This is one of many stupid laws that I am confident Bitcoin provides a solution to, and one of many reasons why I think Bitcoin will become incredibly popular in the near future.

I actually expected it to get more press attention than it did so far.
I suspect it's the same reason the New York conference didn't get much media attention: Journalists don't want to feel they've been 'used' to pimp someone's investment or simply provide publicity for some interest group. I'm not sneezing at 10K - but from a marketing perspective it would be cheap if it did get mainstream media attention. I hope you release the password either way.. even if in the end something you said in there is way off the mark, you don't look the type to get embarrassed too easily Unless something major happens, I fully intend to release my comments in the future. I also agree that from a marketing perspective $10K is a bargain if it gets any kind of media attention. So far, I haven't even had to put up the $10K since no one has accepted my challenge. I do think Bitcoins will make some kinds of taxes very difficult to collect, but others (like property taxes) will hardly be affected at all. Governments arguably, occasionally do some nice things, but they also murdered over 150,000,000 innocent people in the last century alone. http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/NOTE1.HTMI wont lose any sleep if somehow Bitcoin were to 'destroy the guvmint' but I don't see that as a likely scenario.

Julz, Thank you for your concern. I share some of them myself. I actually expected it to get more press attention than it did so far. I also posted a link in the video description to an encrypted file that contains my thoughts on why I offered this bet. http://www.memorydealers.com/lib/memorydealers/Why-I-Placed-The-Bitcoin-Bet.tcIt may make for some interesting reading in the future, if/when I make it public.

If this ad is successful, I think the situation on on ExchB will be even worse. People who want Bitcoin have to pay some premium (some 5%) when buying on ExchB. Just have a look at http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/mtgoxUSD#kgexchbUSDzrg10zvztgMzm1g10zm2g25 to see it yourself. The reason for this? It is very difficult to get money out of ExchB, especially because there is no instant method available. As a result it seems most don't want to sell their coins at ExchB, even at the higher price, and thus as a result there is more demand (USD) than supply (BTC) at ExchB. So advertising ExchB could have the side effect of people discovering that ExchB is more expensive than other exchanges and hence don't buy bitcoins. IMO ExchB has to add some more depoit/withdraw options to be able to give their customers a fair price. Edit: some current data Current MtGox order book (selling) 4.88002 0.2281 0.2 4.9227 5.9200 6.1 4.92474 0.1400 6.3 4.92576 0.2442 6.5 4.92906 0.3000 6.8 4.93402 0.3000 7.1 4.93798 15.3100 22.4 4.93799 0.1800 22.6 4.938 45.4100 68.0 Current ExchB order book (selling) Ask BTC Cumul USD Cumul Average $4.9645 0 0 0 0 $4.9645 $4.9926 0 0 0 0 $4.9854 $5.0534 0 0 0 0 $4.9935 $5.1144 0 0 0 1 $5.0538 $5.1515 1 1 5 6 $5.1357 $5.1704 0 1 0 6 $5.1361 $5.2018 0 1 1 6 $5.1451 $5.2522 0 1 1 8 $5.1609 $5.2900 16 17 85 92 $5.2791 $5.3000 60 77 318 410 $5.2953 So to buy a 50BTC once has to pay $4.938 at MtGox and $5.3 at ExchB Can you list exactly what additional withdrawal methods you would like to see?
