741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] - [HYP] Hyperstake Pool - First of its Kind PoS Pool (Hyperpool) on: October 26, 2014, 07:28:08 PM
I added the todo list to the wikia page. The todo list is also a marketing tool, to convince leads that HyperPool is great (and HyperStake is great too). http://hyperstake.wikia.com/index.php?title=HyperPool&diff=4447&oldid=4443

Could you please add the Donation fund usage writeup on the wikia? Initially on the same HyperPool page and later on, it is makes sense, it will be moved to a dedicated page or a subpage (but I think wikia deactivated subpages).
742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] - [HYP] Hyperstake Pool - First of its Kind PoS Pool (Hyperpool) on: October 26, 2014, 06:11:09 PM
I just created the HyperPool entry in the Wikia. I reused Kushedout content and added some, but there is certainly a lot of things to add. I trust you for updating the page.

I am also sending 2500 HYP to the donation address and 2500 HYP to the Lottery address. Finally, I will refrain from using the pool myself.

FunCoinDev and zeewolf, could you update How to build for Raspberry with your findings and feebacks? Thank you.

Sure captn, will do soon.
Commander. Captain is presstab Smiley

Can't claim their address.
Could you go to IRC and ask for help? This will be much easier to fix there.
Update: this worked for akula999:
Quote from: David Latapie
In the wallet, go to file, sign a message

Populate the fields; in the message field (or similar, I'm doing from memory), enter only your nickname. Then click "sign a message".
Then go to http://hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.com/claim. There, enter your HyperStake Address, EXACTLY what you entered in the "message" field in the walet (so, if you follow my instructions, your nick). Finally, under signature, enter the text you got in the wallet after clicking "sign a message".

Informations about installing the wallet on a RaspBerry
FunCoinDev and zeewolf, could you update How to build for Raspberry with your findings and feebacks? Thank you.

I don't know if it is too late but I just verified ownership on the richlist, right now at #53.
I sent you the 100 HYP and added a sentence relative to the end date:
There is no end to the giveaway. If someone read this post in 6 months, he will still be eligible for the giveaway (and maybe in 6 months, 100 HYP will be a lot).

I propose even to split it: As i have learned, a 4000 or 5000 stake is better to... well, stake, so if you guys can send 2x 5000 to two ppl it will double the output wanted result, and probably minimize risks. In my case i receive one of those batches i compromise to automatically buy another 5K so i can dual stack and enter in this Hypsteria you are apparently all  Grin Grin
Welcome here and read the HDJ if not already done Smiley This is the first HyperLoan, that's why there is only one candidate. I did not expected so much candidacies so I might increase the amount of people for HyperLoan #2 (the next one) or even allow more than one person for HyperLoan #1. What would the HYP community suggest? My main reasons for sticking to one were 1) fear of scamming 2) workload.

HyperLoan candidates so far:
Choice will be done on Monday. You can candidate until Sunday 23:59 UTC. There is only 1 seat available (later rounds will have more seats available) but since there is so much candidates, even round 1 might have more than one candidate - my main reasons for sticking to one were 1) fear of scamming 2) workload.

Regarding the choice in Monday:
  • This is a community choice and if the community cannot reach an agreement, the core team (me and presstab) will chose the person to be selected. The coins will be borrowed by the community wallet.
  • I would like to decide how to choose. First-arrived-first-served is not that great but this is what I will do if I can't find a more collaborative way to decide. Like everything in HyperStake, the process of selection is an experiment and I ask you to find the way to choose. An example of a fairer way to choose is this: every non candidate, please pick a candidate and explain your choice.

People who are not selected will be allowed to candidate again next time. Everytime they are not accepted, they will have an incremental +1 score, so that the older you candidate, the bigger the chance to be selected.

As a remainder: how HyperLoan works

ok to be fair its been pretty stable above and around 5k.
I offerd 20k HYP if it would get there and ill stick to it , only small change id like to donate the 20k to Waxo's Stake forgiveaway fund if thats still around .
If David and Presstab agree to that.
Let me know where to send it PM me the address.

(lol giving away 1btc to people i dont know but i believe u gotta stick to ur deals:)

<nitpicky>Technically, you offered 1BTC. So if you plan to honour your promise  in HYP, that should be 1 BTC worth of HYP at the time of sending Smiley</nitpicky>
I think I can speak for presstab when saying that
1) we don't need this BTC worth of HYP, since we are already hypllionaires (yes, today I can say it Smiley
2) we would like this BTC to be used for the coin. Now, I see two different ways:
  - sending to waxo for giveway
  - sending to the stacking bounty for future services for the coin
I would prefer the second option, even though one can argue that if HYP reached 5k consistently, this is also (mainly?) thanks to the community.

So I did this, I'm in 848th place - pDLU95MYUpybfHheJno65tmwUt96jxm17b
But when I click sign, and paste that to the site I get an error and it brings me back to the list page.
I can't find you on the richlist.

Me too
I send message.
My wallet address: pHEQffhDthwUafpyEBbnYHcdWjaqmyPB7S

If this persists, presstab you should contact the block explorer owner to check what is wrong.

I mentionned HyperPool on the HDJ, with a bit more background on what it means for the present and future of HYP.

Another experiment by HyperStake: bringing pool mining to PoS coins

[HDJ] HyperPool, the first PoS pool mining
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / HyperPool, the first PoS pool mining on: October 25, 2014, 08:40:10 PM
We incessantly repeat that PoS is first and foremost a mining method, an alternative to PoW without the megawatts - see bitcarbon.org for the ecological footprint of PoW.
Like PoW, PoS aims to ensure decentralised network security and meritocratic distribution of the tokens (the more you mine/stack, the more your chances to get a token).
And, like PoW, the mining, if successful, become more and more competitive. Solo mining is over for all but the most powerful miners (professional ASIC farms). If you want to have a decent chance to get some tokens in a reasonable time frame, you increasingly have to resort to pool mining.

And that's the same thing with a successful PoS coin like HyperStake. High-profile stackers, which have huge "mining power" (i.e. a lot of block for stacking) can get most of the reward. This will discourage lower miners to ever try to stake(I still remember the early days of Monero, before there is a pool). This could ultimately killing the coin - like in nature, an apex predator kills its ecosystem). That's another rich man's problem that I was not even aware of, so thank you Kushed (and mtwelve, the originator of the idea) to point it out and... to give a solution.

The same way small shareholders in a company unite as an "association of small shareholders",
the same way small miners in a PoW crypto unite in a pool mining,
we are proud to introduce the very first (to our knowledge) pool mining for proof-of-stake, HyperPool.

This is very early, it is mostly manual for the moment and in order to scale, it will have to be automated. Still, I believe it is a great news for HyperStake, because it means that we grown successful enough to have a need for such a tool and that this tool will keep the coin viable. Once multisend will be implemented (and presstab is working on it), there will be an option to send part or all of your "mining power" (staking power) to the HyperPool (the option called "PoolStaking" in the mockup).

I love these experiments! HYPxperiments!
749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Most Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 7 Markets on: October 25, 2014, 12:38:57 PM
Nice idea of the giveaway! I see "Presstab Staking Journal" somewhere at the bottom, guess you skip that Smiley
I considered then decided to not skip it - mainly our of lazyness Smiley But now that you are saying, I should have - presstab should just send this extra 100 to tipbot or somewhere else.
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Hypllionaire giveaway on: October 25, 2014, 11:29:33 AM
HYPlionnaire, part deux - Hundred for hundred

Update: if you don't have enough HYP to make your way on the rich list, contact me, I have several possible solutions.

Fellow hypsters, I salute you.
To celebrate my accession to the rank of HYPlionaire, I will give 10k HYP away. "Hundred for hundred".
The rules are as follow: 100 claimed address on the top 1000 will receive 100 HYP. I will start from the bottom so that it will benefit more the ones with less HYP. I will maintain a list of tipped addresses. I will check the list regularly so you can still claim your address now and get the HYP.
To claim your address: In the wallet, File/Sign Message, enter your HYP address in first field, name as you want it to appear in second, click Sign Message, paste the three field to the claim page (hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.com/claim).
To check if your address is claimed: hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.com/rich
There is no end to the giveaway. If someone read this post in 6 months, he will still be eligible for the giveaway (and maybe in 6 months, 100 HYP will be a lot).

Have HYP, have fun!

I feel it is necessary to advertise the multisend ASCII mockup again (original). I took advantage of the opportunity to update with latest consideration, such as Pool Staking, partnership with Mintcoin Fund and PrincipalSending.

The "(?)" button leads to a pop-up window which explains the charity and mention, if necessary, that such charity also donate to another charity (daisy-chain charity). For instance "1% of the faucet goes to Red Cross".

For Faucets, the (?) will explain that the faucets are meant to be self-replenishing.

For "(enter address)", people would have a "save" option to permanently save this address, like in the address book. Example: one want to give specifically for the translation in Portuguese, he enters the right address (of course, a bounty address for this must have been generated first).

The drop-down menu [____][____] allows for triggers, conditionnal actions (like max amount = 1000 HYP, ùax duration = 30 days..)

"New custom address" is a button for adding as many addresses as you want. HyperSend gives some creative examples of how to make the best use of custom addresses.

Finally, one can donate to several charities ({*}) and even decide of the amount. Base: 1%, min: 0.25% max: 100+100%. Why 100% + 100% Because it is possible to liquidate a part of the principal also. If you use arrow keys, pressing the up arrow while it is already at 100% of the stake will start to increase the percentage of the principal. In a similar way, pressing the down arrow while it is already at 0% of the principal will start to decrease the percentage of the stake.

"Fidelity program": "Dear HYPster. This is now 14 days you've been staking on a daily basis. Ain't it good to receive daily coins? We propose you to give 1% (or more) of these daily gains to one or more cause(s) of your choice. This will be completely transparent for you, the wallet will handle everything. You can always turn it off later, but remember that a small deed can go a long way both for the cause and for the valuation of HYP."

I think we need to develop a catalogue of our potential users, so-called customer portrait, with their faces, average backgrounds, life priorities and values etc. Then we will see who do we aim for. This coin needs marketing. If we want merchants to notice us, we need to have a production form ASAP. Otherwise we will stay a coin on the development shelf forever (and probably will be outcompeted). There were some associations in Polo trollbox.
A quick questionnaire on IRC showed yesterday that most HYPsters are in the 30-40. So, older than the usual crypto demographics. That's a start os statistics.

Also, speaking of statistics, presstab just posted this graph of the difficulty:
757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / HyperLoan experiment - shortlist on: October 24, 2014, 02:25:56 AM
Hi,

We will start the first HyperLoan experiment/promotionnal campaign today.

What is HyperLoan?
The idea comes from cycoinminer
A (relatively) new HYPster get 10k HYP as a loan. It is loaned for free. He keeps it until it stakes. Then he sends the 10k HYP back and keeps the reward. Max time for keeping the HYP is 30 days (can be decided shorter), so this leaves room for experimentation, smaller blocks and maybe (for the most audacious/lucky) even enough room for a second stake. So, essentially, consider it a 2k HYP giveway.
The lucky chosen HYPster will have his nick on a hall of fame.

What if...
The HYPster could very well disappear with the money. This is a gamble, an experiment, we expect the HYPster to play fair. If he doesn't, his nick will be on the Hall of Shame to be forever remembered as a scammer.

What are the conditions?
To be relatively new to HYP and to show interest - ideally, to also have not much HYP, but on this we can only trust the person to give us his real and only address.
To maximise the chances, the candidate must have a sufficient amount of posts and be known by the HYP community - presence on the ANN, the IRC or the trollbox.
This will be subjective.
The selected HYPster is encouraged to proselytise HYP whenever he can. For instance, he could add to his signature "Proud winner of the HyperLoan" with a link to this very post. This is just a suggestion though. It is in his own interest to have HYP succeed and we expect him to act accordingly. Rather than hard rules about what to do, we prefer common sense. Such common. Much sense. Wow.

Since this is the first time, we will only select one person (if it proves successfull, Part Deux will have more than one winner). Still, a shortlist of maximum 5 persons shall be established. This is YOU, the community, who will propose the name. People can propose themselves or someone else. You can win HyperLoan only once in your lifetime.

Go!

update: IstvanDV on IRC proposed that "the borrower would register new address in block explorer for better traking something like, mafort-HyperLoan". Let's elaborate on this.
758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [HYP] Let's take a closer look at HyperStake SCAM on: October 23, 2014, 11:06:57 PM
David, when has any of your coins gained "wider adoption"?
How many coins have you had a hand in? Eleven? Does that sound about right?
Two. Monero and HyperStake (Mintcoin and Noblecoin, I do not dev them, I like them and helped a bit, that's different).
Try harder.

oh, and this is Earl David.
(there is a tongue-in-cheek reference here - how long before this reference is reused out of context?)

i think some missed out and is alittle upset. Grin
Little is an understatement Cheesy He could buy or get inspiraration instead of trolling. This is open source, not open mouth.

I don't understand why people spend time setting up new accounts and derogatory post instead of actually doing something (well, I actually do understand, I just hope he will move beyond this with time and wisdom). As the saying goes "better to light up a candle than to curse the darkness".

(I know, I said I would not intervene on this quarantine thread - I'm so happy we made our ANN self-mod), but since presstab is posting, I should let him have fun alone. So-li-da-ri-ty Cheesy
as long as it doesn't impede the development of XMR and HYP of course

It's ridicoulous. Wallet is now up to date, online, staking, etc. DIFFICULTY is at 2.4, and weight is at 103965563..... So it begins.
It's not even me, most of my HYP are to young to stake.

Sure, technically this idea is retarded at all because we are moving towards fully automated experience and techno-utopia. I proposed it for few reasons. First of all to show potential investors the main idea of this coin in a simple and comprehensible form. The second reason is connected with coin development philosophy, it's like a ground to push from. The barrier will exist implicitly. Some people won't have patience to wait for a stake, some won't have sufficient funds. This will guarantee money inflow.
]I don't see how leaving the choice would prevent

The 'you have X HYP at the moment - in around 20 days, you should have Y HYP if you leave your wallet open most of the time" could even have a "want to know why and how and further optimise it? Open the stake control window." With even a clickable link to automatically open the window, it is possible.

Diff is over 2.4 now !!!
Did you take a screenshot? I "only" have 2.1
