741  Economy / Speculation / Re: If the US dollar crashed, would it affect bitcoin in any way? on: December 25, 2015, 07:13:17 PM
If USD somehow would crash that would bring down most of the world economy with itself. In a crippled economy during the time of uncertainty many people will go for the traditional stores of value like gold, instead of something new and not very well known like bitcoin. In addition USD and bitcoin economy goes hand in hand in this early stage so bitcoin would suffer too.
742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum to go up or down? on: December 25, 2015, 05:42:10 PM
I agree with peteycamey's short term prediction. Long term I'm also rather optimistic but with some precaution. It will go up, if the devs keep developing and - more importantly - if it became a widely accepted add-on for bitcoin.
Actually I'm surprised how well it keeping it's value. I expected a lot bigger dump down to the IPO prices or even lower.
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] Is Spoetnik a Lying Troll??? on: December 25, 2015, 05:31:33 PM
Votes dont lie. It's now official.
Spoetnik is a lying troll.

As Spoetnik pissed off a lot of scammers and their shills, and a couple of other (otherwise honest) people as well here, I'm not surprised about the result of this vote. But these kinds of votes means nothing. BTW with a little effort (e.g. making a bunch of new accounts or having a couple of buddies around) anyone can make a similar poll about anyone else. So it's still not official, this is still just a few opinions Smiley.
744  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Potato on Mars. How do they do it ? Read Full News about it. on: December 23, 2015, 10:48:34 PM
......Global warming creates poor soil conditions and increases the prevalence of pests and disease which have the combined effect of limiting harvests globally but particularly in vulnerable areas where poverty, malnutrition and food insecurity already exist......

I stopped reading after the above dogma recitation.

Actually global warming and higher CO2 levels used to promote plant growth, as we know if we take a look at the triassic and eocene coal deposits and plant diversity.
745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nova coin a good investment on: December 23, 2015, 06:54:39 PM
It's a pretty stable, well written coin and Balthazar is still around if if you have any questions about it.
746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why even use BitCoins? (read the post!) on: December 23, 2015, 06:49:53 PM
So, am I missing something? Am I misunderstanding something? What's up with BitCoins when it comes to buying stuff? The more research I do about it, the less sense it makes to use it.

There's one important point what you missed. Let's scroll back...not very far, just to mid 2013. 1BTC worth $60 in that time. Let's assume we bought 1BTC. Take a look at what we were able to buy for $60 back then. Now scroll forward to these days 1BTC worth roughly $420 now, $60 is still $60. Take a look at again on the shopping basket what we can buy for $60 and what we can buy for 1 BTC today. You know this is why we like it Smiley.
747  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin always be dependent on fiat? Is it? on: December 23, 2015, 04:37:26 PM
As the title says, will it always be dependent on fiat currencies like €, $, ...? Because right now, you always convert before paying. So when you buy a TV, it costs 800$ so that means 1.8 BTC. And by that i dont see how can it become independant? It is just like gold, which cannot be used by itself.

So is my thinking true, or can the prices in the future be projected just through BTC; like you buy a TV and the price is 1.8 BTC. You buy bread, price 0.003 BTC .

I really dont know about these things so thats why i want to hear your knowledge on this.

IMO at this moment it's not pegged to fiat as pegging measn a fixed rate. Of course as we do not have a real bitcoin economy where all sorts of goods and services are available we need to use fiat therefore we need exchange rates, but those rates are not fix at all and not defining the purchasing power of BTC, so I wouldn't call this pegging.
748  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is as good as it's going to get on: December 23, 2015, 04:24:16 PM
If you bought $1000 bitcoins, I pity you, we will never see $1000 coins ever in our life time.

Folks, this is the way it's going to look from now on. No more moon rockets, and no more steep crashes. Enjoy and have a nice day!!!

I think you are a bit bearish mate Smiley. Next year btc can very well hit $2k or even more. In your model you simply ruled out all external factors, like a sudden "gold rush", a new bubble, or just a simple increase in demand what we've seen on the Chinese exchanges after the new capital control rules. Not to mention that there could be things with negative impact on the prices. I wouldn't say that $2k would be sustainable in for a while, but I can easily imagine a nice big bubble sometimes around the halving.
749  Economy / Gambling / Re: Biggest problem with current Bitcoin poker sites? on: December 23, 2015, 04:15:05 PM
I still use to play poker on facebook, maybe this is because it loads faster than bitcoin base poker sites which doesn't also look real unlike having the real table players.
Do you guys think FIRST PERSON POKER site is possible to create, I like to feel the cards are laid in front of me.   Would love to see if it already exist though.

Try to Google "Touchable 3D holograms" Smiley. At this moment it's still Star Trek stuff, but maybe in a few decades it could turn to reality.
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbar coin dead?? on: December 23, 2015, 04:06:06 PM
is BTB already dead?? someone help me pls  Sad

There a few active nodes, it's still traded on Cryptsy and Bter, you can even see some little volume, there are buy orders, so I wouldn't call it dead... yet
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRY a demo with NXT INSTANTLY!! NO DOWNLOADS! no CLIENTS on: December 23, 2015, 03:58:33 PM
Not interested in a coin 80% distributed to 25 persons.

Sorry.

To be honest that was a perfectly open fund raising. In that time I've already allocated some funds for joining but then suddenly I've got very busy with getting back my stolen BTT, Cryptsy and many other accounts and salvaging what I can when I've get f**ked by a keylogger. So if 25 person joined from the God knows how many around (who also had the same opportunity) that's not the fault of that 25.

Edit: Ops! I didn't noticed that this is a really old discussion.
752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many People Here Sell on eBay on: December 23, 2015, 01:57:46 PM
I've used to get rid of stuff what still working but I no longer need it, and also used to buy spare parts, and some interesting vintage stuff. I wouldn't be very happy if eBay/Paypal could start tinkering around my bitcoins. I don't really trust them.
753  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Should I choose random faucet drips or average? on: December 23, 2015, 01:52:36 PM
Choose random for a day or two (maybe for a week if you want some more representative samples) and then make some calculations about how much you got vs how much you can get if you go for average.
754  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expect Bitcoin Price to Reach US$1,200 or More Next Year on: December 23, 2015, 01:49:21 PM
They are seems to be quite optimistic. They can be right but I think that will happen around the end of next year unless something unexpected. Of course I can't rule out some big pumps around the halving but I doubt that those highs will last long. BTW a slower more organic growth would be better in the long run.
755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are coins like Namecoin and Peercoin so cheap? on: December 23, 2015, 01:31:03 PM
These two coins are barely have any real life purpose, there are no meaningful marketing therefore no demand. However because of the small but die hard user base, both coins are doing relative well if you compare them to other coins. So there are still hope Smiley.
756  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you vote for Trump? on: December 23, 2015, 01:18:59 PM
and sorry snail2 i have to disagree, even if its only my wishful thinking :/

Sorry to say, but probably wishful thinking. Unfortunately. Socialists are still have a lot of supporters, they have infiltrated into green and some liberal parties long time ago and then took control. Just take a look at the programs of most green parties. Apart from some environmentalist stuff all of those are massively socialist programs.
757  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraqi Forces Fighting for Ramadi Make Their Way Toward City Center on: December 23, 2015, 01:06:04 PM
I don't know WTF is wrong with the Iraqi army. Some 30,000 soldiers are not able to defeat a small group of 300 Islamic State fighters? Had this been the Syrian Army, then the battle would have been over in a matter of hours. Either these people doesn't have any of the qualities needed for a soldier, or the training handed out by the Americans was not up to the standard.

Maybe they want to keep the buildings in more or less one piece. A massive carpet bombing and then sending in flame thrower tanks and self propelled guns with a lot of infantry support would be quicker, but after that there wouldn't be city there any more. The SAA is much better trained, equipped and determined. In addition Iraq had to rebuild it's army after ater it was routed by IS, while the SAA made a fighting retreat into defensible positions and it's just got more tough and battle hardened after the hammering.

BTW on the military academy I've seen plenty of Iraqi and Syrian officers on post-gradual trainings and the difference between them is like the difference between theology and geology Smiley.  Syrians were much more disciplined and determined.
758  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is your gambling stategy? Are you risky, or do you prefer slow? on: December 23, 2015, 12:52:48 PM
If we are talking about luck based games, then perhaps the best strategy is no strategy at all. If there are no 100% working strategy, then why bother...
759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how much you lost money in gambling? on: December 23, 2015, 12:21:44 PM
Never "invested" any money in gambling. I've used freebies, signature campaign payments and referral earnings for gambling or spotsbetting. As I used to play only for fun I've lost something like 0.2-0.3 altogether in the last two years.

That is actually a good way to earn money and with that play gambling. Because if I did that in my mind actually I haven't lose any money. Like Signature Campaign is good way to earn bitcoin to play some gambling. For newbies Faucets is a good method to play gambling.

I know this isn't very thrilling and adventurous approach but paired with some self-control it's a good way to avoid big losses in the heat of the moment Smiley.
760  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: BitAdviser - Doubler and other scam sites tested on: December 23, 2015, 11:03:15 AM
I must agree, there are no point in testing HYIP sites, these sites used to be good for days or sometimes even weeks and then they used to suddenly disappear together with user funds. However listing these sites and warning potential users about the imminent scam is useful.
