761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 17, 2011, 03:21:29 PM
My friend just mentioned that Hooters would make sense for this.

It is the kind of place that some people may not want to have show up on their credit card bill where their wife might see it.

Cash and Bitcoins are good for this kind of thing.
762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin business cards with info? on: September 17, 2011, 03:14:55 PM
I already did about 70% of the work here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40033.0

I think you can easily modify the template to say exactly what you want,  and then have someone print them.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New National Radio ad on how to get Bitcoins with CASH!! on: September 17, 2011, 02:31:13 PM
when is it scheduled to go live?

It has already been live for several days.
I will post some audio from it soon,  or you can just listen to the most recent show on www.freetalklive.com
764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 17, 2011, 01:55:04 PM
Its Hooters! 468 locations..

Someone please photoshop bitcoins into the hooters logo!

This would be the perfect combination.
I hope it is true!
By request:

Thank you so much!

I love it, and my girl friend is pissed because I may soon have a reason to go to Hooters every day for lunch!

766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bit-Pay Mobile Checkout - this changes everything! on: September 17, 2011, 05:00:07 AM

OK, that's a quick start. We now know that "bit-pay" is operating out of an house, who's behind it, and some other things they're doing. So if they "lose" any funds, it's clear where to send lawyers and cops.
They do not hold your earnings, you receive those into your wallet every day. So worst case scenario is they steal one transaction and the company packs up and moves to Singapore. All for your 5 BTC.

I expect to see contractual statements like "all payments made after NNN will be transmitted to ACH by NNN".

They have all of those covered on their website.

https://bit-pay.com/legal.html

No, they do not.  They have an "acceptable use policy", plagiarized from PayPal's acceptable use policy, and a "privacy policy", plagiarized from PayPal's privacy policy). They do not have any terms which contractually bind "bit-pay" with regard to financial transactions.

This is important. Potential merchants need to know about transaction reversals, chargebacks, payout limitations, delays in payment, separation of customer funds from company funds, and dispute resolution procedures. All of those areas have created major problems for users of other Bitcoin-related services.

This is two guys with no financial experience operating out of a house in Florida. The odds are that they will screw up. Merchants need legal protection for when they do.

you know, you should just STFU.  we all know you're a paid shill basher of bitcoin.   otherwise, you wouldn't be spending so much time here and you would've taken my bet of 100 BTC to you.  when bitcoin skyrockedts again, you're gonna lose your job.

Nagle,  I would love to hear your reply to cypherdoc's accusations.  From the posts I have read from both of you,  it would seem that cypherdoc's assessment is correct.
767  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoinica - Advanced Bitcoin Trading Platform on: September 17, 2011, 04:36:24 AM
We have blocked your account due to malicious attempt to control prices.

Who are you to dictate who can and cannot trade?  Who died and made you king of bitcoin?

In a free market,  Zhoutong is not the king of Bitcoin,  but he IS the king of Bitcoinica.

He can ban,  or allow, anyone to use the site for whatever reason he pleases.

Just as the rest of us can decide to use,  or not use, Bitcoinica for whatever reason we please.

This is the only moral and fair system of property rights.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pretty much same trading volume - Mt.Gox and Bitcoinica on: September 16, 2011, 02:16:42 PM
When will we see the Bitcoinica founder give an interview or two?
The one on http://bittalk.tv/ left me wanting to know more.
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New National Radio ad on how to get Bitcoins with CASH!! on: September 16, 2011, 11:45:46 AM
Any ideas on how we can tell what kind results this new ad is having?
It is hard to know what kind of results advertising dollars are getting.
770  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Lets make it easy for any small store to accept bitcoins! (2BTC Bounty) on: September 16, 2011, 01:02:13 AM
Thanks for the added effort joepie91.

I just tried testing it out with a 3072 × 2304 image.

After the upload completed it came back with the error message of:  An error occurred during upload.

Could that be because the image is too big?
Is there a way to make it automatically resize images that are too big?

You should also put your Bitcoin donation address at the bottom of that page.

Thanks!

775  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Instant Bitcoin purchase service in Malaysia :: dgtmkt.com on: September 13, 2011, 03:21:43 PM
Thanks for setting up what seems to be a great service.
Is there a Malaysian forum of Bitcoin community site?
What can we do to help things along?
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New National Radio ad on how to get Bitcoins with CASH!! on: September 13, 2011, 04:37:48 AM
Don't forget to post the youtube video on your Facebook or google+ !!!!!

The more people that hear about how easy it is to buy Bitcoins the better!

Mtgox is great,  but it is better for bitcoin as a whole if they don't have 95% of the exchange market.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New National Radio ad on how to get Bitcoins with CASH!! on: September 13, 2011, 04:18:41 AM
A potential problem with this is that people might not know what exactly bitcoins are, while your ad is already talking about how to buy them.  You might want to listen to a few of the ads that go like, "Do you hate fiat money? There's one investment that works! Gold! Gold has gone up blahblahblah over the past 10 years," because something like that would tell the listener what you're talking about.

For the last 6 months or so a general ad about Bitcoins has been running, so most of the listeners have been hearing about them for months.

Here is a copy of the old ad:

778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New National Radio ad on how to get Bitcoins with CASH!! on: September 13, 2011, 04:12:51 AM

how long do you expect Wells and Chase to allow this?

I have no idea,  so I would like to have a backup radio ad ready.  Any good ideas for the next one?
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New National Radio ad on how to get Bitcoins with CASH!! on: September 13, 2011, 04:11:57 AM
Nice.  Just curious, what is the relationship between MemoryDealers.com and exchangebitcoins.com?  Are you just buying advertising for them for free, or do you own a stake in this exchange?  Obviously its none of my business but like I said, curious.

I don't have any direct relationship with exchangebitcoins.com other than I met them at the NYC Bitcoin conference.

I'm just a fan of Bitcoins and how I think they will change the world.
I want to do everything I can to make those changes come sooner rather than later.

I'm just as happy to pay for a radio ad for mtgox,  or ruxum or any other Bitcoin business that I think would benefit.

I chose exchangebitcoins.com because of their ability to take cash deposits.
I suspect that will appeal to a lot of people around the country.

If you have an idea for any other great ads,  please post them here.  Lets make it happen!
