761  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Next consumer model miner on: February 21, 2015, 01:23:15 PM
I have been holding out for 3 months to see whats next.
From what I've read Bitmain and Spondoolies may release more efficient
miners based on chips they have already released. Their next major move will be
in late Q3 or Q4.

ASICminer is working on a new chip design right now and we should hear more about it
in the next few weeks.

It's these efficient models that will help the home miners with power cost
in the .15kwh and under range.<-------I know i'll get some flack for this one!!!
762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you wanted to stop Bitcoin? on: February 21, 2015, 01:02:12 PM
The easy way would be...take the home miners out of the picture. And it seems that might have started.
It is the home miners that have a big network of communication and interest in bitcoin and its value.
Can anyone really say that the mining farms are getting on these threads and helping eachother???
Or the day traders???

I think this is a good thing for Bitcoin. Now if we could get some major retailers to
do the same thing!!!

765  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Methods of getting free electricity on: February 19, 2015, 09:17:06 AM
I am in the USA. I am wondering what ways there are to get free electricity. For example, maybe certain office leases come with electricity up to a certain amount. Maybe the place i work wouldn't notice or care if half a dozen power supplies were humming away in my cube. How about buying a home that has lots of solar panels just for the sake of hosting miners.....

When i was in college, our apartment rent came with electricity. I am doubtful though something like that would hold up long with the electricity bill was all of a sudden 2k a month.

Any ideas appreciated, thanks

Move into a building built in the 1960 and prior.

Okay...You sparked my curiosity. Why 1960 and prior???

One of the things I Love about this forum---Even though the members don't always agree or
get along with each other, We will come together to give a Scammer a good bashing!!!

Thanx for the warning on this one!!!

Thanx for the threads. Mos Def gonna be reading into these.
768  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Bitmain retooling its labs for a die shrink to anything below 28nm?? on: February 18, 2015, 08:36:49 AM
Doesn't it seem "natural" that if there is an S6 it will be using S5 chips? That's pretty much their style for the previous miners they produced e.g. S1/S2, S3/S4).

I'm glad someone else can see that pattern as well. I'd speculate we'll see that S6 in the next quarter
followed by the new chip design--S7--towards the end of the year.
769  Bitcoin / Pools / New to Pools... on: February 17, 2015, 11:15:26 PM

Update: We now have a new service running at http://moneyinpjs.com/btc-flow/

Just login with your bitcoin address and watch your account fill with free bitcoin.
Then just click the balance each time it hits 1200 satoshi to add it to your balance and then cash it out any time you want to.

Some people are making over 0.01 Bitcoin daily with this new type of faucet!  Shocked

I received an email from moneyinpjs warning me that the BTC-Flow was a scam. I find this odd because now yoyr recommending
the very same faucet. I have received a payout from the BTC-Flow over the weekend so it seems legit.
I also enjoy the payouts from all the other moneyinpjs offerings I use. So whats the deal-io with the rather strange Email?
Btc-Flow good or scam???

Yes, we did promote the btc flow site in one of our paid emails but later we realized what the btc flow admin was trying to do (run a ponzi/faucet) and we do not like to promote any ponzi sites because it will always end bad. One bitcointalk member called that site a "Pay-to-Work" site because if you "invest" in the membership "upgrades" you will need to work on the site 24/7 just to get your investment back and if you like to sleep 8 hours a day, you will lose money!

So we no longer recommend this site to our member's and we have also included that site in our new "keeping you safe" section to warn our subscribers about the scam.

The site is ok if you only claim the free bitcoin but the earning rate drops off to only about 50 satoshi per claim so it's really not worth your time. Wink

I kinda figured that it wasn't worth the "upgrade" they offer. Thanx for your reply and your time.
Lookin forward to some more of your Read to earn material. They are the easiest payouts for sure!!!

772  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: DIY Mining Rack on: February 15, 2015, 01:27:25 PM
I am currently working on a project similar to this. I have mine located in the basement of my home where it is always cool.
I have just been finding all my info from google. There are some threads on here but you've gotta dig for them.
I'd share the links but---I'm a noob and don't have that privilege yet. Good luck!!!
773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should The Marijuana Industry Embrace Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2015, 05:38:05 PM
For many people marijuana=crime. Places where marijuana is legal are very rare. So I would be very cautious in connecting these two things. For average Joe who does not have clue about bitcoin it would be very easy to connect shady substances with illegal sources of money etc. What can lead to bad press for bitcoin...

I agree. I'm all for legalization and believe it is Looooong over due. However, The foundation of Bitcoin is still very new and if we want to continue
building it stronger we should keep it clean. I live in a small town in Michigan, where medical use is legal and the older generations don't embrace that.
Also, I am one of a few in a population of about 2000 people who even know what bitcoin is!!! Now, go and tell these people we can use this new form
of currency to purchase weed over the internet or local providers and watch the REEFER MADNESS set in!!! They will hang our Bitcoin
in the town square and stone it!!! And this is one of thousands of small towns with "older ways" of thinkin'. Plus let us not forget these are the people who
run the court house and sit in the chairs at our state senate!!! First we need--- Bitcoin acceptance.
774  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner controller Question.. on: February 12, 2015, 08:59:56 PM
The Tube controllers work alright for Tubes, but I've had very little luck running a Prisma off one reliably. And when I say "work alright" I mean there's no failover pool options and their stratum implementation is broken so it only works by default on a few pools (we've cooked up some proxies that scrub out some of the problems, but not all).

The USB adapters give a lot more flexibility, as support is now built into cgminer.

I've had Prismas running for a few months on USB adapters and Pis using CrazyGuy's Minera image. They're as stable as Prismas get, I reckon.

If you're in need of the proper USB adapter and can't get one from AM themselves, check here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=882348.0
I like Novak's adapters better than AM's stock adapters. There's probably not much functional difference though.

Thanx for the feedback!!! And you prolly hear this a lot but---When they release the next gen miners and I need some power,
I will be lookin at your power supply deal. Also, I have sent a few other noobs (like me) your way.
775  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Spondoolies SP35 - Heat + Noise on: February 12, 2015, 09:04:42 AM

NOTE: I am not rubbishing your response all input is very valuable to me but I am struggling to get past all of the people who say " you will never profit/break even mining is a waste of electricity. the difficulty is too hard" I would like a balanced argument on both sides.

I am also confused by this argument. I see a profit can be made if you stay efficient with your set up.
I think that is because I don't see the word "Millionaire" when I read the word profit.
ALOT of people on here say mining is dead and gone, BUT they still do it!!!
They're on here everyday posting/reading topics and posting pics of their gear,...so if it's not profitable, even a little
WHY ARE THEY STILL HERE???

I think you're in a good position to make a Profit---Go For It!!!

In the UK the averate cost per kw is .24 cents. So 20.76 dollar a day to run. 622.08 dollars per month. If he gets 2 BTC per month at 220 per BTC his net loss per month is 182.08 dollars. How is this a profit?

from the sentence that says "My work is allowing me to host this unit FOC in my test environment where all costs are covered (Power & Data)".
Especially the part--all cost are covered.

Yes I read where he said this, however I don't believe his work knows how much electricity the SP35 will be using. His other 5 servers seem to be dell r710. At 500 watts each that is 2.5 Kw of electricity. The SP35 at full speed will be doing 3.6 Kw. So they are going to be seeing more than a 100 percent increase in the electrical cost associated with this rack of equipment. I don't think they would be willing to cover a 600 dollar electric bill per month FOC if they knew. I want to see how they feel after a few months of big electric bills.

The op posted that the company is relocating the existing equipment AND the SP35
to a better controlled environment that is going to have upgraded power.
It sounds as if the op has talked this over with the people "in charge".

Then I'll prolly get a blanket party form the BitMob!!!

Or a rendering of a Blanket Party!!!
779  Bitcoin / Hardware / ASICMiner controller Question.. on: February 09, 2015, 10:11:24 PM
I've read the stock controller on Prismas/Tubes are unreliable and
you can use a uart/usb adapter in its place.

So...whats the most reliable road to take from that point???

Hook it all to a usb brick and Pi??? Huh
