CCN CHART:

We are "safe".. imho... atleast for a few days.
I think we are going to be sailing a smooth straight line with ups and downs over the 235 to 245 range, nice opportunity to make some BTC on the dips.
782  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is a first on: May 29, 2015, 11:06:44 PM
is it possible that they skipped the bitcoin part to try make people think less about bitcoins?
i mean like there are still billions of people who do not know anything about bitcoins, if they skip that maybe its because not to make the people aware about bitcoins and activities around bitcoins.
Good point. Actually I was introduced to BTC thanks to Silk Road related news in mainstream newspaper website about economics, it was the first time ever i heard about it. If it wasn't for it (And it was a negative article against BTC) I may not be here now being ahead of a lot of people that has never heard about it yet.
783  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a Retirement Account on: May 29, 2015, 10:56:35 PM
Whatever you end up doing, if you just want to store BTC for 10+ years, by all means do it through cold storage and get your paper wallets sealed with inflammable resistant material, and make several copies. This way your BTC are safe as long as you keep them safe.
784  Economy / Economics / Re: I need bitcoin to be $690 to break even.....will I make it? on: May 29, 2015, 10:47:03 PM
Nobody can grantee that, but I'm sure of that... Bitcoin will break $1000 barrier, it's just a matter of time (1-3 years). In this timeline we'll see a lot of price variations.

It will break $1000 in less then a year. It will not stay there. But for sure will get there at some point.

That's not a fact though, it's an opinion. Will it for sure break $1,000 in less than a year? No. If Bitcoin became obsolete a month from now due to a much better alternative, it might never reach $1,000, or it could just take longer than expected. Not to mention that if it does break $1,000 it may well stay there.

If $1,000 was guaranteed a year from now, Bitcoin would be at least $900 or so since its present value would be $1,000 - (time value of money for 1 year).

Bitcoin will not get any close to obsolete in next 3 years from any better alternative.  Only option is that there come to some terrible flaw in protocol. That is only way Bitcoin gets obsolete in one year time.

There are experts looking for bugs daily, tons of them. If any major flaw was there it would have occurred before. The protocol is rock solid, at this point is just not something worth worrying, so is a potential coin deprecating BTC anytime soon.
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We're getting married! We're going to record it on the blockchain! on: May 29, 2015, 10:27:50 PM
How do you want to record your marriage with the blockchain???

It's actually been done before, so OP is no pioneer (assuming he isn't trolling). Here you can see what it was about in he latest part of the video:

786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison on: May 29, 2015, 10:25:14 PM
Life in prison without the possibility of parole... Meanwhile cops are murdering our citizens at an alarming rate and not even being charged. The United States of America, Sad to say this is my country.
Yeah, even if what i've read is true (that apparently he was trying to get a hitmen to kill some whistleblowers or some shit), the fact cops get away with killing blacks like it's nothing is frustrating.

RALLY

hahaha... "blockchain technology company"

Quote
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Honduras, one of the poorest countries in the Americas, has agreed to use a Texas-based company to build a permanent and secure land title record system using the underlying technology behind bitcoin, a company official said late Thursday.
Factom, a U.S. blockchain technology company based in Austin, Texas, will provide the service to the government of Honduras, the firm's president, Peter Kirby, said. The company is doing the project with Epigraph, a title software company that uses blockchain technology, also based in Austin.
Factom would not reveal the cost of the project. Honduras would become only the second government to use blockchain, which increases transparency in a transaction, to manage government data, after reports that the Isle of Man would test a government-run blockchain project.

yo REUTERS... It's THE blockchain. The BITCOIN blockchain.

The country of Honduras land registry is about to be secured by Bitcoins.

 Shocked

All those retards are doing a good job in trying to separate blockchain from Bitcoin, to keep people away from investing on Bitcoin while it's cheap, so the whales can keep storing cheap as 200 USD a BTC coins until it goes ridiculously higher. Well, what can I say? most people seem to be more worried about keeping up with the Kardashians than learning why they must be learning about Bitcoin right now and owning at least 1, so fuck them, let us benefit while we can and rewarded since we weren't wasting our time, be it buying cheap BTC or both doing that and creating silly FUD posts to try to keep the price low for as long as possible.

Can someone explain to me (the non techy guy) how Nasdaq plans to play around using the blockchain without using bitcoin? Briefly, how does this work?

I am not even going to pretend to be a tech expert. I just enjoy investing and loitering in this forum.

No one is going to be using the blockchain without Bitcoin because that is nonsense. Do you really think the journalists know what the fuck are they talking about? Nonsense spreads fast when said by big newspapers.

Its very simple. Who keeps the blockchain running? Miners. What reward do the miners get? Bitcoin, the native currency. Therefore, can the blockchain function without Bitcoin? NO, THE BLOCKCHAIN CANNOT WORK WITHOUT BITCOIN, SO THEREFORE EVERYONE USING THE BLOCKCHAIN IS INVESTING IN BITCOIN'S HEALTH.

Nasdaq is one of the first multinational financial services companies to explore ways to leverage the blockchain in a non-currency manner.

This doesn't mean Nasdaq is using actual Bitcoins as currency. But Nasdaq will be interacting with the Bitcoin system to slip data into the blockchain.

Nasdaq's experiment is a limited one. On Monday, the Wall Street Journal referred to Nasdaq's pre-IPO market, which launched in January 2014, as "a fledgling marketplace." But if it works out, expect to see it use the blockchain concept elsewhere.

They have said multiple times that they are not going to use Bitcoin. They are researching the use of "Blockchain Technology" for record keeping.

Another (same) retard creating a new account for senseless FUD.

The blockchain doesn't work without Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is the fuel for the blockchain, it's the native currency in which the blockchain guards (miners) get their rewards for running the entire fucking thing. Don't you get it? There is no blockchain without Bitcoin. The journalists are retarded, so you are. Everyone that uses the blockchain IS USING Bitcoin indirectly, which means sooner or later all those moves will translate in higher price.

790  Economy / Economics / Re: Tax & Hoarded / Hodl Coins on: May 16, 2015, 11:41:45 PM
What pisses me off is the UK government are not interested in Bitcoin...

But if anyone makes a big profit from btc they are happy to have a slice of what you've made.

The UK government is actively researching Bitcoin and has very easy regulations compared to most countries.

They are taking a slice of your fiat money if you decide to convert your gains to GBP.

They aren't that easy tho. It should be VAT free, like I think spain, which treats BTC as just another foreign currency as it should. I don't know if there are other annoyances, but thats pretty annoying within itself.

My question is, how would the gov take that slide of your fiat money, how would they know exactly?

This is how you run a personal bitcoin mining operation that still gives you positive returns.
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rock Band Queen Drives First Bitcoin Sale for Argentina Ticket Startup on: May 16, 2015, 11:35:04 PM
Good news!

Just got the new album, track list:

1. Who Wants To Mine Forever
2. Dont Trade Right Now
3. Satoshi To Love
4. We Will Hack You
5. Another One Sends The Dust
6. Bohemian Transaction Fee

Lol. Soon in your favourite world's newspaper: Satoshi Nakamoto is Freddy Mercury, which never died, he just abandoned the rockstar world and became an hermit to create BTC.
793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the Blockchain | A reflection on the current state of bitcoin on: May 16, 2015, 11:33:07 PM
A reflection on the current state of bitcoin and the blockchain in Q2, 2015.

"After almost a year of trading bitcoin’s price decline, 2015 has provided the bitcoin community with some positive changes in the reception of bitcoin. The media still remains obsessed with bitcoin’s price volatility while skeptical of its legitimacy. However, the underlying technology for bitcoin, which is known as ‘the blockchain,’ is being portrayed under a much different light..."

Check the link below for the full story.  Roll Eyes

http://kazonomics.com/bitcoin-and-the-blockchain/

Thats the joke around the bitcoin community as we speak. All these headline shitters just have no clue about how Bitcoin works to make such claims. Why is it so hard to understand that, without bitcoin there is no fucking blockchain? why is it so hard that NASDAQ dropping by is directly investing into Bitcoin when they say they will use the blockchain, because a strong bitcoin is required for the blockchain to work? when will these clowns learn and do their job right? Jesus Christ.

Yeah, i get this on a daily by people that have heard about BTC being attached to bad things, but suddendly they all thing the blockchain is amazing, when to put it in laymans, the blockchain is the car and the BTC is the fuel/electricity. Have fun running the car without anything on the tank you dumbos.
794  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens to Bitcoin when free energy is available? on: May 14, 2015, 10:18:02 PM

In the long run, decades is my guess, money will become practically obsolete though, because "free energy" will make everything incredibly cheap. The bigger effect IMHO will be on the minds of people, having realized how much they have been deceived, and realizing that scarcity is artificial.

That's a typical utopian fallacy, frankly. Things are "incredibly cheap" already today in the western world if you think about it. Getting enough food is not a problem even for the poorest. Clothing neither (though still produced in sweatshops in the 3rd world unfortunately, but that issue will be solved also with automation). Housing may be the biggest cost factor of every day life. But the problem is not with the materials required for housing. It's about supply and demand. Living in the middle of nowhere is cheap. But if you need to live in or near the city, where infrastructure and jobs are, there is great demand, hence high prices. So some essential things will always remain scarce, even if only from a very subjective viewpoint.

Lol you are delusional. More and more poverty is appearing in so called "first world countries". You can find tons of poverty in Greece, and even spain, portugal, etc and it will keep spreading as time goes on and we see austerity measures are a scam, without even considering the elephant in the room: the future and even current fact of automation replacing jobs forever.
795  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investors lost hope start dumping GBTC on: May 14, 2015, 10:15:39 PM
I think it's dumb as hell. Anyone that is here for the long term will not get desperate over some fluctuations and will hold the entire trajectory, even if it goes to 100 in the following months. Anyone with grey matter knows BTC is insanely cheap right now.

797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Satoshi's coins be deleted? on: May 14, 2015, 10:09:57 PM
Lol, Bitcoin fungibility = Fail, thats why i trust Monero more

With Bitcoin you can always mix your coins, with Monero you cant know if a double spending bug happens due to the non transparent ledger.
798  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAIA Offers Bitcoin Greater Penetration In The Adult Entertainment Market! on: May 14, 2015, 10:08:07 PM
All of the major porn producers are accepting Bitcoin. The virtual porn thing that will do scenes for Oculus Rift will be huge and accepts Bitcoin. It's clear that BTC and porn go hand in hand greatly due the additional privacy.
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenSource Facebook for Bitcoin - YES OR NO on: May 14, 2015, 10:06:44 PM
Website was not found...

Anyways, I do not think we need a Bitcoin social network. I think we need the ones who already exist to accept Bitcoin Smiley

It is not found, because DNS need about 24-48h.

Thank you for your opinion

PS: " who already exist to accept Bitcoin" like who ?

Like all the social media websites already out there. We don't need more, it will add to the confusion, we just need the ones we have to accept Bitcoin. Examples that come to mind: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, SoundCloud, Weibo, Ello...

Doesn't Twitter already have a bot that autotips you Bitcoin? or im mistaking it for Youtube?

Anyway, I would love actual official implementation, and not some 3rd party solution.
800  Economy / Speculation / Re: is bitcoin getting rebranded as the blockchain? on: May 13, 2015, 09:50:41 PM
Once their blockchain experiments fail they will understand why Bitcoin is the next huge thing and work under the Bitcoin wings and not against it. Lol at not using the most powerful computing network in the motherfucking planet for free! ridiculous.
