781  Economy / Goods / Re: Sticker Hat Modular Hat System HAT2.0! (Free Bitcoin Patch with order) on: January 17, 2018, 02:50:42 PM
What is the retail price on the hatputer?

I have no idea yet, at the moment is not complete. The functionality is more or less there, but its not waterproof, the wiring isn't final, and there are a plethora of other things to work out before I'd be comfortable having someone stick it to their head. We most certainly need to build some sort of case for it still, add some heat sinks, and a few other things.

We may also end up not selling them, and just provide detailed instructions for people to build them themselves. Supplying computer parts to people is a bit different than what we are doing now.

How much for 4 with the Bitcoin patches?

Four Sticker Hat Starter Kits (Comes with the face patches) + 4 Free Bitcoin patches would be $100 converted into Crypto. Yeah, I know this is Bitcointalk and all, but as long as its a fluid enough crypto that we can exchange it into Bitcoin, I don't mind if people want to pay with their junky alt coins like Clam to avoid Bitcoin's transaction fees and such.

Just joking of course  Grin

Jesus!!! What a dick Cheesy.

I'll take 4 please.

I can pay with Bitcoin because Gemini still pays for customers miner fees.  Address?

[edit: sent]

You are all set, your hats will be on their way tomorrow or the day after.

This modular hats will be on fire especially with the Bitcoin Patch, hopefully other colors will be available such white and green.

Received and confirmed. Thanks for your order, will update you ASAP, and thanks for the suggestion about the colors. We've found that black hats were vastly more popular than other colors, but if there is demand for them, we will certainly see about getting them made.

Hey guys, Mushbuh (Mushroomized) and I are selling Sticker Hats: https://sticker-hat.com/

A modular hat designed by Mushbuh that allows you to change the design whenever you like. Like to walk around sporting a proud Bitcoin symbol? Stick it on. Annoying guy walked up to you, lecturing you word for word what they heard about Bitcoin on CNN? Take it off.

We are currently selling the Starter Kit and December subscription patches, and if you order using Crypto you will receive a free Bitcoin patch, pictured below.

We are handling Crypto sales manually, so you can pm me, post here, or contact us on our website if you'd like one. We don't have a subscription system in place for cryptos, but we'll let you know if that changes any time soon.

We accept Bitcoin, Litecoin, BitBean and Ethereum. If you have something else you want to pay with, just ask. If you have any comments, questions, or general hate and discontent, feel free to let me know.

787  Other / Meta / Re: Account Hacking An Inside Job? on: October 15, 2017, 01:33:58 AM
Well hey, follow the Bitcoin trail, maybe it'll lead you somewhere interesting!

I agree with you completely, people who don't take their account security seriously are certainly not to blame, and the amount of effort it takes to verify an account,  that can be made completely pseudonymously, shouldn't be nearly as hard to return back to the original owners as we make it out to be. There certainly aren't any alt coin or Bitcoin services that could possibly be phishing sites. That faucet that Users #1-1000 signed up for with their Bitcointalk UN/PW certainly couldn't have their accounts compromised by such honest operators.

Nah, the guy who has run the site for 8ish years is probably behind it all. Hell, if I was Theymos and my reputation alone worth easily in excess of a few thousand bitcoins was on the line, I'd trade it all away for an account worth $16.53 as decided by an unaffiliated bot driven account pricer tool. I'd then take the risk that the gaggle of crypto junkies here that wrote bots to analyze people's typing patterns because they were bored last Tuesday morning wouldn't stumble across anything incriminating.

Assuming you read this all as sarcasm, which most people probably would, I actually stand by my first sentence. Do some investigative work and follow the bitcoin trail. I wouldn't hold my breath on the shocking discovery that Theymos is behind it all, but you could find something interesting nonetheless.
788  Other / Meta / Re: Ryland R. Taylor Almanza=MIxan Needs removed from DT on: May 25, 2017, 02:08:12 AM
Assuming thats the real Ryland. I'll wait for a phone call back from the real Ryland. As far as I know, he hasn't been around for a few years.

Am I correct to assume that you haven't received a phone call from Ryland?

Yeah, I haven't heard back from him. I haven't known Ryland to be active on the forums for over 3 years anyway, but those saying that Quickseller received his account by honest means have a signed message to back it up. I'd like to have had him confirm it personally one way or the other, but I can't get ahold of him.

I know Ryland lost control of some of his old Bitcoin wallets a long time ago, maybe 5-8 years ago anyway. I doubt they could have been compromised if even he didn't have access to them, but they could have been recovered, etc. Either way, I removed him from my trust list and left a negative a while ago. Whether the account was hacked or sold, the negative is deserved.
789  Other / Meta / Re: Ryland R. Taylor Almanza=MIxan Needs removed from DT on: May 12, 2017, 06:48:36 PM
I know Ryland personally and know that he is not Mixan, but it does seem Ryland's account was hacked.
New definition of hacked is sold to a scammer by Quickseller?

I can confirm that my account was taken, and I assume sold, as collateral for a loan from Quickseller which I was not able to repay.

Assuming thats the real Ryland. I'll wait for a phone call back from the real Ryland. As far as I know, he hasn't been around for a few years.
790  Other / Meta / Re: Ryland R. Taylor Almanza=MIxan Needs removed from DT on: May 12, 2017, 06:41:18 PM
Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I was away for finals for the last few weeks. I know Ryland personally and know that he is not Mixan, but it does seem Ryland's account was hacked. I'm getting in contact with him now. Until then I'll remove him from my trust list and leave feedback.
791  Other / Meta / Re: Hey bitcointalk can you stop infringing on freedom of speech? on: March 26, 2017, 01:05:13 AM
This is a private forum. There is no guarantee of freedom of speech, and there are forum rules. There's a 100% chance that your post was deleted because you broke forum rules, not because your opinion was against that of the forum admins.

You sound like a sheep. I was having an honest bitcoin discussion and analysis of the factors that will effect the price, I broke no rules there is no justification for this, it is purely a bitter staff member who deleted my thread because they didn't like my analysis.

Probably not. Its much more likely that you broke a rule. Even if moderators were allowed to delete posts they just don't agree with, there aren't enough hours in the year to do so. So, we just have to settle for only deleting posts that are against the rules. It might be helpful if you let us know the contents of the post that was deleted, as well as the thread it was in, so we can either tell you why it was deleted, or fix it if it was a mistake.
792  Other / Meta / Re: Safe to trade with again on: March 07, 2017, 02:28:56 AM
I mean no disrespect to either of you, but shouldn't SaltySpitoon post their assurance in a signed message to ensure that they also haven't had their account compromised?

I can do so wednesday. I didn't feel the need to based on the circumstances, but I certainly can sign a message. BAC had an email account get hacked, and as a result warned everyone not to trade with them in case the hacker had managed to get multiple other accounts that they weren't aware of yet. BAC secured their accounts and scrubbed their computers to make sure everything was safe, and then spoke with me via video chat to confirm that they were still in control of their accounts, and their passwords were changed/OS scanned and wiped, etc.

I suppose there is a chance that a hacker could have got access to both my and BAC's account, so a signed message from me isn't a bad idea, but until I can get around to it, you can verify that my email/password hasn't changed in quite a while, and that I'm most probably the original Saltyspitoon writing this.
793  Other / Meta / Re: Safe to trade with again on: March 05, 2017, 10:21:02 PM
I spoke to BayAreaCoins and have confirmed that it was the real BayAreaCoins and they have made efforts to completely secure all of their accounts, and they are confident that all of their accounts are now secure.

I am removing my negative trust, and ask that those who did BAC a favor and marked their account do so as well.
794  Other / Meta / Re: so if the topic related to the silk road, will be deleted? on: February 17, 2017, 02:25:19 AM
Its not that you can't discuss the silk road here, but theres a big difference between having a discussion about the Silk Road and looking for help accessing it. While not always true, its pretty much implied that if you are looking for it, you are looking for something illegal. On the other hand, people here discuss the Silk Road's effects on Bitcoin's economy, the impression that people get of Bitcoin as a result of the Silk Road's popularity, etc. That isn't an issue.

That said, last I heard the silk road got shut down a few times, so the thread may have been deleted as spam.

Wouldnt say so, hence no one cares about illegal stuf in the Digital Goods, so why should someone care about this.

I don't really want to take this thread off topic, so if you want to discuss this further, make a new topic about it, but we are aware of the nonsense that goes on in the digital good section, but its a really difficult topic. The topics that are blatantly illegal are deleted, however its somewhat difficult to prove what is and isn't illegal unless the OP says something that they shouldn't have. People can farm accounts for things to sell. They can do credit card rewards schemes or social engineer store credit to sell, and it looks identical to the people that are doing something illegal and offering the same service.

If we want to wipe out all of the scammers and fraudsters, we are also going to catch the people that spend their time making accounts and taking advantage of free trials/rebates/etc to sell to people who don't have the time or knowhow to get them themselves. Its not that we won't crack down or place new restrictions, but we typically look for a solution that stops the majority of the bad eggs while not impacting the regular members too much. It takes a lot of time to figure out a new plan and we end up spinning our wheels for a while looking for a solution that maximizes the good and minimizes the bad.
795  Other / Meta / Re: Lauda should have his ability to delete posts in Self Moderated thread removed on: February 14, 2017, 03:21:50 AM

Hopefully Saltyspitoon will lock this thread like he did the other one.

~BCX~

The last thread was locked because the topic was no longer relevant, and the conversation degraded into a continuation of a fight that no longer had to due with the topic. QS is welcome to accuse Lauda or anyone else for that matter of whatever they want, but games aside, this thread is a scam accusation, not a request to have a forum feature removed from a user. QS has been here long enough to know that there isn't any situation where even a confirmed scammer would have posting features limited, not only because I doubt its possible to do on a user by user basis, but because Bitcointalk administration doesn't get involved in interpersonal disputes.

So calling this what it is, I moved the thread into reputation rather than Meta. As with all threads about self moderation, if you don't like it, make your own thread where the OP can't moderate it.
796  Other / Meta / Re: How to be a mod? on: February 13, 2017, 11:32:56 PM
Why do you want to be a mod? Staff are added on demand and if theymos thinks you would be beneficial to the community. Be a very active member and report a lot of posts with a fairly decent accuracy and he may ask you at some point.
I don't want to be a mod right now but may be in future because I find it challenging to manage such a large forum. To me it commands both respect and power  Grin. That said I posted this thread for information sake and not to promote myself as a possible candidate as I obviously don't deserve to be a mod right now.

Keep in mind, a fair portion of the members here don't like moderators, as the community in general tends to be pretty rebellious towards any authority figure that has the power to "censor" you. Most people don't really understand how hands off we are, but I can't really blame them for not being able to see from the inside out.

Report posts/threads that are against the rules to help demonstrate that you understand the rules. Be a productive member on Bitcointalk, obviously don't break the rules, be helpful, and show at least neutral character. As far as I know, there aren't any rules about not being a jerk and being a moderator, but it probably doesn't hurt to not have everyone dislike you.

If you are an active member of a local board that speaks another language, if the majority of the members there say they need a moderator, they essentially pick among themselves who they want to do the job.
797  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed for a service to advertise itself outside of its thread ? on: February 08, 2017, 06:56:21 PM
I mean something like if there is a thread about let's say the lack of something that the service provide, is it allowed for the service to go there and tell "you know, we are doing it !" ?

I will say yes, but very very carefully. It is incredibly easy to interpret someone advertising their service in a related topic as spam. If someone made a thread and is asking for a specific service that fits their needs and you tell them about your's, that is fine. If you go into all related topics and start posting about your service because they are marginally related, you are likely to have the post deleted.

I suppose the best way that I can give you a helpful gauge as to whether it would be appropriate in a thread with your service info or not is make sure its not disruptive in any way. If your post is not completely on topic with the original topic of the thread, it is likely spam. If its an unwanted post in their thread, it is likely spam. An example of that, is if someone was complaining about being in a car accident, and you offer to sell them car insurance, sure the two topics are marginally related, but likely unwanted.
798  Other / Meta / Re: How to avoid this kind of posts/threads ? on: February 07, 2017, 03:36:52 PM
They are annoying, but I haven't ever seen them last very long. About half of the time, when I go to nuke the account, someone has already beaten me to it in the time it takes to click on the thread, verify that its a spam post from a new account, and then hit the nuke button through their profile. There is a bot that handles nuking new spammers, it just doesn't catch all of them.

I am highly against returning newbie jail, as someone who sat through it and someone who handled whitelisting new users when it existed. When I signed up for Bitcointalk originally, I abandoned my account and just used a friend's account for 6-8 months because I dubbed it more hassle than it was worth. On top of that, there was the issue of getting newbies to post productively in the newbie section because either A) They came here with a question in mind or B) Its hard to post something constructive within the confines of a "Introduce yourself!" thread which made up the majority of the posts there.

It really sucks when you have just heard about Bitcoin and are excited, and you either have a ton of getting started, or "HELP! MY MONEY IS LOST!" questions, but you can't really get an appropriate answer because your post is buried inside of the newbie section. That said, that doesn't mean theres not an acceptable middle ground somewhere.
799  Other / Meta / Re: Digital Goods -> Invites & Accounts on: February 07, 2017, 02:56:43 AM
Product/gift codes seem pretty separate, ontologically-speaking. Maybe they should get yet another section, if there is a significantly high volume of such trades?

Coupon Codes and Gift codes make up a pretty large portion of the Digital Goods section. Of the first two pages, I counted 10 related threads, so ~25%.
800  Economy / Reputation / Re: Got negative trust [no reason] [WTF] on: February 05, 2017, 03:48:31 AM
That thread is not real. You cannot show it on here, therefore it is not real.

Cheers!

I figure I'll help you out with this one, and confirm that the thread is real for the sake of saving you from having to keep denying it.
Can you show me proof? I can't rely on the word of a proven scammer!

Sure can!
