Anybody keeping track of ETF proceedings? When is the next deadline for SEC release of latest round of excuses?

I have a sneaky feeling there may be some insider news behind some of this market action ... and there's nothing more insider than govt. agents leaking and front-running rulings that favour financial players.

I don't know about an ETF.  I do know that blockchain and distributed ledger technology is finally getting people's attention in mainstream banks.  It's like someone just flipped a switch in the past 3 - 6 months.

Mere buzzwords..so they can blather on about bitcoin without actually mentioning that dirty word..'bitcoin'...

This whole blockchain not bitcoin meme is a load of hot air, you do know that right?

You cannot have a "blockchain" or "distributed ledger technology" without a native token, everyone here knows this, right?

How are you going to make entries into your distributed ledger? With Cats?? Or just by magic??

Can't have one without the other, simple as. So, they can call it whatever they like, all while trying to avoid using certain words but they're only fooling themselves.

Or wilfully trying to delude themselves...or, they just actually don't effing get it.

Andreas Antonopolous made a nice analogy..I'm paraphrasing here:

Horse and cart is the existing technology...
Someone invents a motorcar!

'Blockchain not bitcoin' minded people say: Wow.. we really like this pnematic tyre technology you guys have come up with and want to adapt this for our horse and carts. But we really don't see any potential for the motorcar as a whole.. we are only interested in hte underlying technology of the pneumatic tyres!   Grin

Back on topic: There is no word yet on a possible ETF decision date. Some commentators believing the SEC could kick it down the road as long as possible. Other voices reckon it will happen soon.
The most recent news, are that COIN ETF got a logo, back at start of Dec. and the twins were again 'talking up' bitcoin, also early Dec.

EDIT: Beaten to it.. ! Cheesy

Just relax, maybe go outside and smell the roses (pretty hard if it's winter, but then you can always make a snowman). Things are only picking up steam. Wish I had some worthless fiat just about now.

fiat isn't worthless.

you can use it to buy btc.

Possibly the best thing I've ever read on this thread. Funny and true.. Cheesy

I'd just like to say here, that it looks to me like bullish flag pattern (since 5am CET) is coming to a close, accross all exchanges. But especially in China.

This pattern is due to complete at between 12 - 14:00 CET

This means, according to my tealeaves, that we are geting ready for the next leg up. IMO, anytime in the next 2 hours or so we should move up again.

Exciting times.

Thanks jl2012!!

Ok, I failled!

I worked out (roughly speaking) the natural log of 855/2873..

I just used 'today's expected price from yesterday, assuming it wouldn't have changed that much.

Could I ask you jl2012 to post here the calculation that would equate -0.8 into $$ please? My pithy attempts failed unfortunately!
91  Economy / Speculation / Re: BETI: Bitcoin Exponential Trend Index and technical analysis on: December 22, 2016, 08:15:37 AM
The current price, about $805, is about -1.274

We have been above -1.3 for 5 days (including today) so it seems the -1.3 resistance has been broken. We are back to the pre-bitfinex hack level

The next resistance at -1.2 is $867

It just hit $867.41 at bitstamp

Uncanny!

Above -1.2 where is the next resistance? From what i can discern from the chart you've posted, it looks like -0.8??

I'm going to try and work out what price point that would equate to and post my result here.

93  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is your Bitcoin really worth $xxx.xx? on: December 21, 2016, 10:18:27 AM
You must be a holder of free coins. Opinion dismissed,

Or a person who has no plans on giving up on Bitcoin so my opinion holds more worth because I am trying to back up what I say with action. What is your opinion on Bitcoin based on the questions by the OP? Please tell us.

My opinion is that no global currency is going to take bitcoin seriously. Why? it has no backing and doesn't scale to any level that is relevant.

My opinion is that nobody is going to take you seriously. Why? Because these are tired memes kid.
It doesn't matter one micro jot if 'a currency' takes bitcoin seriously or not. It simply deosn't fucking matter. Besides, currencies, generally being inanimate and human created abstractions of value (money) generally speaking don't take anything seriously.

It is backed by protocol. It is backed by cryptographic mathematics. It is backed by the most powerful computing network ever created by man.
It is backed by the proof of the work that went into mining it.
The power of this protection has grown 300% in the last year alone. Ergo, bitcoin is now x3 times more secure than it was last year.

Your arguments on the other hand are not backed by anything except hardcore ignorance.
Which i know you will reply to with yet more ignorance. Bring it on! I'm ready to debunk ALL your tired already disproven weak ass arguments against the greatest computer science invention of all time.

2017: I will be mostly eating FOMO Popcorn.
95  Economy / Speculation / Re: When do you think will be a best time to buy bitcoin? on: December 18, 2016, 11:30:46 AM
the best time to buy bitcoin when it drop down into $500 haha. that happen before but now its increasing again thats why thats will be the best time to put your money in bitcoin but ithink it could not happen again because bitcoin users are growing more than last year and itcould be the best opportunity for those users that has a bitcoin when its price hit $500 and right now bitcoin price was $700+ see how big it is.
now is a bad time to buy a bitcoin, perhaps now is the right time to sell bitcoin and get a lot of money, if you want to collect bitcoin, bitcoin mining probably is one very easy way

Erm..no. Not quite. The thousands and thousands of $$$ you would need to spend on mining equipment would likely never ROI.

Mining is not easy.

Better buying bitcoin with those $$$

Ha!

Is bitcoin dead?

No! Look at the chart, it clearly still has a pulse!  Grin

It's not a prediction, just a possible outcome which didn't come to fruition. For me it had been far fetched even from the beginning, so I didn't really take it into account.

If you check the charts that I have posted earlier, you will notice I'm considerably more bullish than that, but I also believe there's a chance that the market turns bearish sometimes in the near future.

Nah, sorry.. I went to your profile, last posts.. sadly didn't see any charts (..and I love charts).
Did you maybe just think you posted them? Or posted them only to tradeview?

If you could find it in your heart to post them.. you'd make this chart ogler very happy!  Smiley

Just had to check the previous page Smiley

Ah OK, thanks for that.

That's a great talk!

While typing this, Huobi just broke the resistance line in this triangle. OKCoin already had..
If you draw this triangle on their 4H charts, you'll see what i mean.

Although it was a weak attempt and has actually fallen back. I think we need to see over 5350 for confirmation.

~$760 on Finex and Stamp

Touched 5355 on OK and 5357 on Huobi.. bounced off.. now regrouping.. if we smash above that.. and the west follows over $760 (i actually put it at around 750 for Stamp) then breakout confirmed.
Stamp and Finex currently ~753
It's getting close to these levels.. i didn't expect that it would happen today already! I thought over the weekend..(but this is bitcoin, so.. anything goes)

Next resistance around the June high 777 stamp and 789 finex. After that 800 (i don't actually see any resistance at 800, more of a psychological barrier). Plain sailing all the way up to 850-900 range.
