I am new with Bitcoin and I wonder How difficult is it to make a Bitcoin payment?

Not at all.
e.g. if you have wallet installed on your cellphone you just scan the QR code (receiver address), doublecheck it (including the amount you are going to send) and hit send button.
83  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hasn't Bitcoin been hacked in the past? on: January 15, 2018, 09:21:35 AM
Important detail: Bitcoin itself has NEVER been hacked. Only some SERVICES using bitcoin (exchanges).
84  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Double Your Bitcoin In 24 Hours on: January 13, 2018, 04:26:10 PM
this doesn't belong here: should be transferred to scams, hyips and ponzis section

Or better directly to trashcan.

I've heard that most of BTC doublers are pure scam, and I'm going to test this statement) What is a minimal amount of BTC to invest?

All of them are ponzi scams. The only difference is some scam you with the very first try and some handle to pay you once or twice (depends on how many new depositors coming).
85  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OregonMines.com - Bitcoin & Ethereum Miner Colocation on: January 13, 2018, 04:01:11 PM
I've been loving my co-location with Oregonmines. They set my equipment up very quickly, and made the whole process
quite simple, They have excellent customer service and support.  They have been super helpful 100 % of the time.
I feel very luck to be doing business with this company, and can only hope that our relationship lasts for a long time to come.

Thanks again Oregonmines

Any questions,

email mfr805@gmail.com

I'm also satisfied customer. The only minor issue is that I'm waiting over weeks for VPN access but it was probably caused by some problem on the payment provider (the invoice was not marked as paid). But overall experience is the best among all (three) hostings I have tried so far.

...
Just hope your equipment does not ever break down while there, may never get fixed.

What you mean? Can you elaborate more?
In past one hashboard stopped hashing and they immediately informed me asking for permission the send it for repair. Of course granted and within weeks was back online.

86  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ViaBTC maintenance fee ratio increased by 50% on: January 12, 2018, 06:19:36 AM
Seems their cloudmining provider is BW ( as they have similar announcement https://www.bw.com/news/show-197 ) or both have same provider.

I consider this inappropriate as well. They should have contracted the pricing with their provider (and put some refund clause if contract not filled). If they did not contracted the price then should not offer such long term contracts to their customers. I found this very unprofessional (almost a fraud). I bet if el. price would drop they would not offer lowering the fee to customers... Is that fair?
87  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you mine for Bitcoin and Ethereum on a single GPU rig at the same time? on: January 12, 2018, 05:54:29 AM
Can you mine for Bitcoin and Ethereum on a single GPU rig at the same time?

No. You can't mine BTC with GPU (can but it's useless ... very, VERY inefficient).
Currencies you can mine together are so called "merged mining" (e.g.  LTC-DOGE, or ETH-DCR ...)
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: January 12, 2018, 05:27:14 AM
I'm getting around 7 USD a day through zpool, what's a good pool to use these days? Granatgas is back up but only does btc payouts, too expensive for txs

I like prohashing.com/

I like them as well. Fees are high but it's effortless for customers so IMO relevant.
In addition pointed the miner through miningrentls ( I set twice the regular pricing but still got rented few times ... so I'm satisfied). My backup pool is miningpoolhub.
89  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to get free gas? on: December 25, 2017, 07:46:12 PM

90  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex dollar VS btc on: December 25, 2017, 07:36:09 PM
Correct. The dollar value shown on wallet page is sum of all your coins converted to USD value at market price.

Is there a possibility in bittrex to see your initial exchange rate in usd? And are there any other exchanges where you can buy with Euros?

You can check you history ofy our trades on the orders page. FYI: Bittrex does not support any fiat trades. Only USDT.
If you want to trade with euro you can try bitstamp, cex, coinbase, kraken...

I can find my history, but only VS BTC. So I made profit in BTC. From 0.56 tot 0.81. But in dollars profit is much less

Yea. If you want such advanced tracking then you need to link your account in some portfolio tracker. Search for cointracking, blockfolio or altpocket.

... after mining how to get my coin from the miner ??  Huh ... i pay 5 btc for this things and 1 btc for help to installation them and i still see no coin from any of this ...

Priceless  Roll Eyes

Hopefully BenRickert is around because this dude deserve some special reward !!!

I bet the nice guy who helped him for such a small amount, used his own address on the miner config...

I wondered why he did not seen a coin yet. But this would explain it. Hilarious Cheesy

Just glad I'm not the only one who find this guy "special"

Check his previous jewel post:

admin do u here ? how to mine with the antminer D3? I NEED MINING... i unpack it and now ?

To mining i need software? thhis piece of sh!t machine !!!! it cant mine ?

HAHAHA ! Nice one too !

I don't mean to be rude, but when you spend 5BTC without a single clue about what you are doing, maybe you deserve it a little.
But i feel generous today, so here you go Menman1: the secret is to have a decent 3D printer, you just plug it to the D3 miner and BINGO : you can now print your coin out of your miners !

More seriously: I am available 24/7, for any kind of advice / help, from only 0,5BTC !

Don't poke the bear...it is likely he is richer than all of us combined...and doing this as a hobby from his private Island....I mean 5 BTC  phffff

Ah..to someday be so rich in cyrpto to be mocked for spending a 'measly' 5 btc in an offhand manner! (dare to dream!)

I don't care. With such attitude he won't keep his fortune much long.
BTW had he not been such jerk from beginning I would try to help him as well. As Shitcointalk said he deserves it.

@may142012  it wil work but it's better to use unique name for each (easier to identify faulty one)

every more news i read is making this worst and worst and i and belief i pay 5 btc for this things and 1 btc for help to installation them and i still see no coin from any of this. i have 5 coupon from bit main but this has to be a JOKE Cheesy $125 coupon for 1 BITCOIN LOSS?Huh?? Guys come on!

When are you going to learn?

Proof of Mining, or Proof of Own Pool, or Proof of Manufacturing Own Miners

OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN !!!

Here is an example how one can be legit: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2380938.msg25944737#msg25944737

I hope I am wrong and there is proof of mining/pooling/manufacturing like viaBTC and HashNest. Otherwise, my condolences...

I think you misunderstood something. This is hosting provider (not cloudmining or pool operator). I bet he is real, and has a real facilities (there is plenty of pics, also he is confirmed former member of haobtc ... but somehow unable to handle this operation well. IMO he decide to quit because is't much easier to just look after his own miners than constantly solving issues and complains of the customers.
Quite sad, I was pretty satisfied at the beginning, prepared to put in more miners but then lot of issues appeared resulting in my withdrawal.

What is a coupon for Bitmain and how is everyone here getting them?/?

Also, I've got my antminer d3 and put in the URL for antpool but wasn't sure what user/password to use so I created a user on AntPool and put the same ID in for the miner settings but its doing all this "localwork" and not paying me out even when I see blocks mined by "antpool" so what do I do??? I don't know what pool to use nor what user/pass needs to be? Thanks

Coupons are compensation to D3 buyers you should have it as well  (if you bought D3 from bitmain, not from reseller or other users here) ... check your bitmain acount, coupon section.
Use the same login details you used for bitmain to log into antpool and see help section to find how to setup your miner.

WTF, you bought thing you have no clue what to do with?  Speaks for all  Cheesy

Go to bitmain site support section https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000730774-Antminer-D3

EDIT: I guess you also have no clue which pool you are going to use. Do you know what pool is? OMG, unbelievable ... but yeah, blame bitmain   Cheesy

I thought I'm wise enough to know a scam.

I even visited these fuckers at their main office in Beijing. Ordered the D3s using their laptop even.

Have plenty of coupons if anyone looking to buy.

Sometimes the vision of profit (greed) overwhelms the common sense. My case as well.
100  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: is my private key compromised with reusing of adresses? on: November 27, 2017, 12:45:25 AM
I never used Trezor or anything that creates a wallet throught a seed. Does it have something called "Coin Control"?
You can simply use your Trezor (or Nano S) with Electrum if you need coin control...

Quote
One of the main reasons Bitcoin Core is the best wallet out there is that it has maximun control over inputs and outputs. So If you recieved for example 20 transactions of 0.05 each for a total of 1 BTC, and each of these were received in 20 different addresses, and you wanted to send that 1 BTC at once, like you said, someone could see that you own all of these 20 addresses. This is of course bad for privacy, so with Coin Control feature you could select the inputs and send them separately. Of course, this sucks because you must send 20 times 0.05, paying a fee each time, but there's nothing else you could do that I know of. This is the known problem of Bitcoin's lack of fungibility, which hopefully gets fixed somehow some day.
Your idea of sending 20 different transactions is arguably only slightly better privacy-wise than sending 1 transaction... UNLESS you send each of those 20 transactions to a different address. Otherwise, you are effectively linking all 20 transactions anyway by sending to 1 address. Granted, it makes it more difficult to prove that all 20 are actually controlled by one person (ie. You) but the link is still there.

Another option is to send your 20 transactions to a mixer and then combine them all into one outgoing transaction from there.... Or use Monero Wink Tongue

Yes, I obviously mean that you should use the 20 different transactions into 20 different addresses, which is why im looking for an exchange that will let you generate new deposit addresses each time, because for example in poloniex I have had the same deposit address for ages which sucks, and I don't know how to generate one, and im not looking forward to create 20 different accounts with 20 different emails and usernames.

I don't know how you would use Trezor with Electrum, but to answer the other guy, you can use Bitcoin Core as your node with watch-only addresses, and then use Armory in an offline computer to make the transactions. Im still researching how to do this, and I would like to use Bitcoin Core as cold storage wallet too better than Armory because im paranoid to use anything that isn't Bitcoin Core to be honest. I want to stay with the classic wallet.dat format. I don't trust the idea of "seeds" at all.

Two reasons I no more using core:
1) It was not deterministic and i was bored making backups continuously  ... I know now it is but I'm kinda get used to HW wallet and not going to return back to core
2) blockchain size

EDIT: after reviewing my point 1 ... do you realize core is using the same BIP as Trezor (BIP32)?

And HCP is right, Leger together with electrum is pretty powerful tool.

Im still using the non HD format from the old wallet. In any case, I can't trust hardware that was designed to host bitcoin private keys. Trezor has been caught "phoning home" before:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TREZOR/comments/6yti7p/trezor_bridge_trezordexe_calling_home/

Why would I need any device when I can get an airgapped computer with libreboot on it to deal with private keys?

Hmm, this is interesting. I was not aware of this ( I'm ledger user ). Thanks for link. Going to read it.
on a side note I do not consider using outdated software safe. But it's your choice.

What do you mean outdated software? There's nothing wrong with the old wallet.dat format, you just need to keep making backups as you said. I did read achow101 saying that the new HD format has no negative points. I guess I will just wait, apparently 0.16 will allow you to use HD in an old wallet, im not sure how, I think it will use the HD method for newly generated addresses while keeping the old keys the same, this way you don't need to move your coins to an emtpy wallet to use HD which is annoying and one of the reason im using the old format, I was not looking forward to lose money in fees doing this.

Im using the latest Bitcoin Core, you can use the old wallet.dat from years ago in new versions in case you meant that I was using an old Bitcoin Core version.

Ok, understood. I thought you are still running some older version. achow101 is guru and we can trust what he says. Then it's ok.

lol, just realized we went a bit off topic didn't we?  ... from reusing the address up to here  Cheesy  ( but IMO good conversation, learned some new things)
