Spectreproject’s Weekly Summary
Saturday, November 18th – Saturday, November 25th

Our Slack Community - Grew by the following 15 new members…..take a minute and welcome them when you see them ….Rakim Hamilton, QueenX, AlexeyB, rmac, singhc, jk, Kumbajan, Oleh Koss, d3n0, Roy, Susjed27, Spaid, Moose, Sami, and user
We now stand at 948 members.

Developer Nutz and Bolts - @jbg and bryce are hard at work on Version 1.4  still in testing and debugging. Stand by for any additional news.

SpectreCoin News - RKH has been working on the graphics (his background) of a proposed website (not the actual code side) for several weeks now. He wanted the community to know he is roughly 60% done. RKH has taken this on in his free time when he isn’t working his full time job. Thank you RKH for your contribution , and this folks... is only one of his several contributions, to SpectreCoin and its community .

There are a wide variety of people here. New to crypto, old timers and many in between. I myself, am somewhat of an old timer, both in age , over 60... and in crypto , mining, trading and investing for the last 4 years…..which are kind of like dog years. *smile*. And like today’s newbie….I learn something new everyday.

Back in June, I accepted this “community manager” position to bring stability to the Slack side of things (and whatever I could contribute to free up the dev from Slack and BtCT)  as well as look after my own self interests since i was an original ICO participant and wanted to see this project grow.
A lot of good things have happened since then, I can’t stress that enough.

There’s a lot to like here. SpectreCoin is solid after a year, has a working full time developer of very high caliber and is on the verge of hitting that next level of true privacy and  usability that few coins have today. Value, exchanges and interest will follow.

Currently the version 1.4 of the Spectrecoin client/wallet is behind. Can’t get around that.  We have a dev that takes great pains to be sure things are right.

Have a great December and I hope each and every one of you are around when we celebrate v1.4 and SpectreCoin’s birthday!

As always….

Beachguy

Spectre is only the NAME of the exchange...they have two classes of tokens that will have the tickers of SXD and SXU.
So that's really all there is to say.....
Personally, a group trying to crowd fund an exchange looks very risky to me.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: December 01, 2017, 08:19:52 PM
@teraviboys68 - Like Gandalf86 says.... I think you're a little mixed up, SpectreCoin [xspec] is the coin name and ticker used by SpectreProject for a year now.

The Spectre exchange token hasn't even finished its ico and they're the ones that purposely used a name very close to OURS. It is an erc20 token and is simply to raise money for a their exchange and its liquidity pool ( all centralized exchanges have one) that hasn't even launched yet.....which btw ethereum ico's you have to be very, very careful with these days. If that exchange fails to open or fails afterwards.... your money is simply gone.
The tokens are intended as a share of ownership of the exchange.....and there are 168 exchanges in the world already.

SpectreCoin [xspec] is a privacy coin that works even in countries that block TOR and has value....https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/spectrecoin/#markets

Please try to research a little better before making comments like above.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: December 01, 2017, 01:46:58 PM
There is no minimum number of coins.
But the more in your wallet the better your chances are of receiving a stake reward.
running a POS client is like mining without burning large amounts of electricity.
Only the more coins in your wallet gives you "weight " on the network and more rewards.
The number of other wallets and thri "weight" will also affect your reward.
The staking is meant to keep the network running smoothly and giving very fast transactions.
If you have ever tried transfers on a POW coin network that is low/erratic hash rate transfers can take a variety of different times.....anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours or even a few days.

several thousand xspec is a start.

Just a small reminder, most synching and connection issues are environmental.....if you lose your net connection or if its sporadic, firewall issues, windows updates (especially on win 10 that updates when it wants to) ....its rarely the wallet itself.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Currencies to Look At this moment on: November 22, 2017, 11:54:56 AM
With over 1300 cryptos out there and more new ones everyday it can be a little daunting.
A mix of 4~6 of older established, some low market cap and a new project would be an approach to consider.
I submit SpectreCoin [xpsec] for a low market cap coin, ie: less than 10 million. Enjoying its first birthday, growing community with a solid dev.

It's way undervalued for a privacy coin with features other coins don't have.

Good luck with your venture into crypto.

Spectreproject’s Weekly Summary
Saturday, November 11th – Saturday, November 18th

More new members of our Slack Community…..Please, welcome these folks as you see them. I had to “weed out” a few trouble makers but still we’re stadning around 934 members strong!
Wokkel, CryptoBatman, I5CAT8, mikkaut, www www, Besty, ahrefer, Jim, Waldo, Felix F, hm, wolfie, floyd1987, and mettamark

Dev nuts and bolts - I know everyone is interested in the progress of v1.4
So here it goes! Straight from @jbg.

“This past week we have been polishing the stealth transaction and encrypted chat user interfaces. The upcoming v1.4 has completely revamped the User Interface (UI) for both of these features as well as others so they are much easier to use.

I've also finished implementing the new backup/restore/resync logic so nobody will need to copy files around any more, you can do it all inside the wallet.

We are testing that at the moment...keep your eyes on Slack for the latest!”

@jbg expects the first testing for selected members to begin tomorrow.

Exciting news indeed!

Other Spectrecoin News -

SpectreCoin [xspec] has held strong as Bitcoin has again reached all time highs.
It’s value in btc has been surprising consistent when you consider how much many other coins have dropped. It’s a great time for members old and new to pick up a few because as many of you know….markets are dynamic and SpectreCoin [xspec] has so many things going for it…..a small spark and the days of this low valuation will be a thing of the past.

I said last week I would mention a few more members of our great community.
First, from the start most of SpectreCoin has been focused on Slack. Please take a few minutes and visit the twitter site built and managed by @communityhale. He’s back after experiencing the challenges of the wildfires in Northern California. Sounds like he came out OK although some friends nearby were affected. He’s going to be spending more time now on twitter. Thank You for your work!

Another Community Member that is very much behind the scenes but a stablizing force on bitcointalk is @leobitman. He doesn’t talk much but when he does….his insight as an original ico participant and background in crypto can be very educational. We appreciate you here and thank you for the support in that crazy place called BitcoinTalk.

Soon we’ll celebrate SpectreCoin’s first birthday! Just over a year ago the ico opened.
Congratulaions to @spectreproject (aka Mandica) @jbg and the other devs that laid the foundation for what we have today!

Happy Birthday SpectreCoin!

Spectreproject’s Weekly Summary
Saturday, November 4th – Saturday, November 11th

It’s been an amazing week of growth with  39 people joining us on Slack.

Welcome guys!
don, ron, geee, derr, supp, mell, sus, jeremy, Blödesbaum, Hamtaro, Terror, chris_to_pher, nuskill, Spectre007, ArneK, delago, dog, Mike, Marcin, Robert, Crow, Ancientkangaroo, Jon , Vileda, Crypt0to, J, Pichardo, Benjamin, Seitiro, sayan, AngSF, Kalil, negreiros, Packers1985, Karl, dminvest, AshV, landy, and Sofia

We’re now 924 people strong…..even with dropping the inactives that come and go every week.
Thank you all community members for promoting and getting the word out!

Dev Nutz and Bolts - Nothing to really report here as @jbg has been super scarce these past few days working on this project.  Please everyone have patience…..I know any day now we’ll see the new client v1.4.

Other SpectreCoin News - Our community chief volunteer and crazy Russian @rkh has so many things going on he’s hard to keep up with! He’s busy with a suggested redesign of the SpectreCoin website. He also maintains the Reddit site along with being there to welcome and chat with newcomers. His graphic designs are great and informative.  A BIG Shout Out! to @rkh for a job well done.

@bitcoinx is busy with keeping the coinwiki up to date as well as continuing to include past information that newcomers would find interesting and valuable. Plus he’s usually the one to come to the aid of people needing help in the support channel. Based in Germany..he has the attention to detail and critical eye needed for clear concise answers for things technical.
THANK YOU for a job well done.

The list can go on with the contributions of many other community members here….and it will! Next week... two more members will be included for everyone to get to know better.

This from the recent Bisq newsletter - Which, like SpectreCoin, runs on the TOR network …..some great news.

Attention China: Tor pluggable transports are coming to Bisq. Using Bisq behind the Great Firewall has been difficult in the past, but no more! Bisq 0.6.0 will use @JesusMcCloud’s new netlayer library to enable Tor pluggable transports and make Bisq as easy to use in China as it is elsewhere in the world.
An important new security feature is on the way. @ManfredKarrer has been hard at work on the new payment account age witness feature, which will bring additional protections against bank account fraud to Bisq’s already secure trading protocol. Watch out for it in 0.6.0.
This is really exciting...SpectreCoin and bisq network make a great combination and as soon as we’re included in their next release I’ll let everyone know. In the meantime have a look at their telegram, twitter or Slack community.

                         Until next week….

why do people line up for "tokens"... https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/26000-blockchain-projects-developed-last-year-8-remain-active/

SpectreCoin is a proven 1 year old project that has a huge upside!

Tech makes a coin for the long haul....not marketing.....SpectreCoin [xspec] isn't hype.
It's solid.  Wink

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Token to be hold in 2018 on: November 08, 2017, 11:43:23 AM
I'm constantly amazed at how people line up to throw money into erc20 tokens....many lose their money because its so easy to scam.
Anyone that  builds a fancy website and a brainfart about some "project"....and saying the magic words "blockchain".....people freely throw money at them.
This fellow had the right perspective on it sometime ago.

Spectreproject’s Weekly Summary
Saturday, October 28th – Saturday, November 4th
First we welcome …. the new members to our growing  SpectreProject  Slack community bringing us to 892 members!

XD_101, Abramov, nw, tuuxe, Mez, ttufekci, Flickerwisp, oronekimo, Sergei, Zinur, jay, Dixit, Dom.d, Rabbit, lokesh, William Spencer, Jsmee, nn3388, Arno, Mahesh, Laney , sinbik, Big Flo, Mike Khan, Kaptainkosher420, Cryptopar, Ophiucus, marqc, and Billy the Crypto

Developer News - @jbg and @brycel have been hard at it and @jbg checked in this morning just in time to make this weeks news.

1.4 development work continues, it's a big job but it's looking good. I will need at least another week to complete everything, but code will start going up on github soon, and close to release some test builds will go to a few people in the community for feedback.”

The following from our Slack general_xspec_only channel….

Previews will happen soon, when it's stable enough I will seed a test build to some of the longer-time community members for feedback, and then probably one beta to the entire community for the more daring souls to try out, and then release soon after that.

He also cleared up a few things about what’s in the upcoming v1.4

hopefully these test builds will happen in a week or so, but i'll update again soon.
v1.4 has a completely revamped UI (rewritten from the ground up), and a new funding mechanism for the devs that allows users to donate part of their staking to ongoing development. There are some improvements under the hood, but stealth address staking is _not_ part of 1.4 (nor was it ever claimed to be). it will be in the next version. Work is already ongoing on making stealth addresses the default and making staking of them possible, but it will not be in 1.4.
There are three steps here: 1. improve stealth transactions with a merging/splitting algorithm that improves robustness, 2. implement staking of stealth balances, 3. make stealth transactions the default.
(1) was originally going to be in 1.4 but needs some extra time so it will be in the next version. (2) and (3) were never going to be in 1.4.
Probably we will do (1) and (2) together in the next version, which we might call 2.0

Weekly Wrap Up - There’s more going on behind the scenes with marketing, translations and website development. The Slack channel has always been our first and most active place to stay up to date. The twitter, reddit and new telegram are getting more active every day.

It appears the bisq.io Decentralized Exchange will be ready later this week. If you would like to download its client and get familiar with it you can do that here

The focus now is the upcoming v1.4 client. After that …..who knows what SpectreCoin [xspec]….already a working privacy coin with more features than most….can achieve.

I would advise new comers to check out the OP and weekly update section on bitcointalk to “catch up” on things. This should answer many of your questions.

We are approaching the first birthday of the SpectreCoin launch…..so be thinking of
Any fun way to celebrate!

They made coin in 2016 and in this year made ICO? Why?
I seen coin on Cryptopia, Livecoin and Novaexchange only. When will be better exchanges?

You should learn more about the "token" in your sig....it isn't us. We are not a token but a coin.
We're not an exchange but a privacy coin that those guys almost outright COPIED our name and domain name.
We don't have an ICO.....you're promoting another erc20 token with nothing working.
Back to square one for you.
I'll leave this post up for others to see how NOT to do crypto....but earlier I posted when they launched this destined to fail project.
It has lots of problems
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: November 06, 2017, 10:04:34 PM
What price of a coin is expected by the end of the year in your opinion?
Sorry for my English

SpectreCoin [xspec] is a stable, growing coin with both a great dev team and community behind it.
But, if we could forecast accurately the price of this coin or any other coin....I'd be a very rich man.
Do NOT believe anyone that says they can.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the best anonymous coin to buy for long term? on: November 06, 2017, 09:56:49 PM
If you're looking for a low cap coin that be purchased at a reasonable price, has a proven community behind it and has been around almost a year...
Spectrecoin [xspec] is you best choice.

Want to get in on the best of the privacy coins that's only going to get better?
Look into SpectreCoin [xspec].
It was launched in late 2016, this is our current BtCT thread....updated from old one.

well the reality is that most larger well developed exchanges do what THEY want to do when it comes to listing ...and in the case of bittrex...suddenly locking accounts and taking days to help people resolve the bugs in their verification system.
I've had an account locked almost two weeks now. Their support is slow and not very good.
No thanks....I'll take cryptopia any day.

Although Ive had no issues with Cryptopia....your experience is why we're excited about listing on https://bisq.network/
