Cool. Seems like it will be better to have the less efficient ones since you get more hardware in return. Sounds backwards - I know. But when/if the power drain issue is resolved, maybe there will be a fix that can be done at home. Then you can increase the clock back.

But haven't yet read an answer on why this type of chip hasn't already been designed, by some bitcoin techies in this field, in hybrid fashion to work with FPGA's (or GPU's) to make something that mines better than FPGA's and GPU's. My bet is you could get something five to ten times faster and more efficient than either technology alone, but it wouldn't be quite as fast & efficient as pure asic technology. as per your calculation,what speed we could get with an asic based on this? I didn't really make a calculation. My guess on orders of speed or efficiency were largely speculation. If you mean asics in general, consider the BFL Jalapeno, you see 4.5GH advertise (the Jalapeno will have one asic chip). But they likely have done a lot of engineering around the chip to support that speed. Just look at their FPGA boards compared to other sources of FPGA boards. BFL has more extra-component support.

For each hash, you will have to transmit that data to some operation outside of the asic (those kinds of speeds may not work readily without engineering around some interelemental interactance issues). Also, it will take 'X' number of clock cycles to compare the output to some target value, and if it doesn't meet your target do some kind of data shift on the digest value, then resend that digest back to the hasher. Something like that. So, expect less than 18GH/chip. Finally, what is the cost fo one chip? All that said, I'd still like to see what can be made with it.

I doubt it will cost much for them. Google targets the advertising. Doing so, those that are re-visiting bitcoin sites will be profiled. Assume that is 10,000 bitcoin miners and users of bitcoin. Targeted advertisement is hi quality, and can be charged more, but let's keep it simple and assume a cheap 1 cent / banner impression (i.e. without a click on the ad). 10,000 x $0.01 = $100 Disregard forum ads. Let's say that many ads are dispensed every two days. So, $50/day for the adsense ads per day to be displayed. More if there is significant clicking. Assume 4% click on an ad (which is pretty high percentage), and 25 cent rate for the click. You get: 400/2 click thrus x $0.25 = $50 more per day. So, my left field guess: ($100 to $200 per day) or a median guess of $150 per day for the ad sense ads alone. I don't know what the forum(s) charge for ad space.

Whatever the case. It would be nice to know if this guy is legit. I'd like to see other asic options. Even if it's only just competitive, if he can deliver on time, I'd opt for that over the current delays. And if he has a awesome customer relations, he'd probably would win not just mine, but most of the business. But I won't hold my breath in the meantime.

I know this has been mentioned before, but...
Out of boredom I just clicked on one of the BFL links that grace this forum and bought a 1500 unit for 450-ish BTC. Or could have. The only thing it even looked like was a 'order' and to add insult to injury, they'll happily charge and extra $300 for 'rush delivery'. After being 6 months delayed so far that is a pretty funny joke.
God but what bunch of slimeballs these people are! They should get a scammer tag just for this issue if nothing else.
When you say "Rush delivery", I assume you mean when they describe "express shipping". Their final order page reads: Express shipping only expedites the shipping process. It does not affect your placement in the order queue.If this is where you got it, then I think you are being overly sensitive. That is a shipping feature offered by most companies that ship some product to you. That said, I also not happy with their missed timelines. They aren't any better than they were last year with FPGA's. Arguably, they are much worse.
