Do you guys mine PPcoin as well with your Avalons?

I gave it a go, but long block times + 120 confirms means it's about 3 days before you actually get your hands on the coins. At the moment 3 days is an eternity Smiley
802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 29, 2013, 09:33:31 PM

Nice.  One of my Jupiter's that arrived today had a fan that fell off.  I took it apart and snapped it back in.

When my October arrived was too eager to get it working as it one of the first, peeked in the vents hard to see but looked ok, gave it a shake no rattle turned it on.

A week later when the case came off, 2 fans wedged in the corner Smiley

cgminer restart from 2 to 5 days Tongue The most important is that no reboot is required, so that I can be away for weeks without worrying about leaving it running at home

Same here been up since 21st August the day the firmware came out ( >90 Days) I set --avalon-auto and never touched it since, 111GH. Rock Solid.
805  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: November 28, 2013, 12:34:59 PM
I no longer see the option to withdraw the NMC I mined before. I can't see my balance or manual payout, but NMC still shows on the automatic payout page. How do I withdraw?

There is no manual payout, just set the auto payout amount to less than you have

Oh Loaded, who art up in Mt. Gox, hallowed be thy name!  Thy dollars rain, thy will be done, on BTCUSD.  Give us this day our daily 10% 30%, and forgive the bears, as we have bought their bitcoins.  And lead us into quadruple digits

Time for a new signature Smiley
807  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL has Black Friday SALE!!! Be careful on: November 27, 2013, 07:39:25 PM
"Immediate" is a misleading term when dealing with the likes of BFL. Their latest shipping update was "Jalapenos 5 gh/s: June 7, 2013". They still have 5 months backlogged orders for those. If you order today, it will not ship immediately. They are lying, again.

It could be true

They probably figure that anyone who is still waiting is stupid, so they can sell their orders on and make them wait a bit longer.

Going to sell out quick  Smiley

Not a dig at you, you're just reselling but what happened to the $2800 price tag, bitmains costs haven't changed

It's as I predicted...

I was eagerly looking forward to this and hoping it would be priced with a reasonable chance of ROI.

The problem with running an auction for the first machines (as happened with asicminer) is that there are enough people who don't care about ROI and just want to have new equipment that the price ends up being way too high.

The manufacturer then sees that people will pay $4500 for it and prices it accordingly.
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 27, 2013, 04:40:51 PM
Personally, let's say I could only support 2kw, I'd feel almost ill owning a miner which can only do 3TH because of the limitation, knowing that if I had more power it could go twice as fast. It's like paying 2x as much for a miner than you need to. I have a feeling the Neptune will be able to hit 5 or 6TH in the right conditions.

It's like buying a jupiter and unplugging 2 modules Smiley

812  Bitcoin / Hardware / KnC Miner list of orders - Neptune on: November 27, 2013, 02:47:20 PM
Hello,

The goal of this topic is to list the orders from KNCminer for the new Neptune.
Please only post paid orders.

Give your :
Order number (Without the last digit eg 1234x)
Date of payment
Method of Payment
Number of machines ordered.
Delivery Country

Thanks for your participation.

NOTE: While the list is still being compiled I will be deleting all posts to make it simpler for me to keep track.  Once done will leave it alone for any discussion.

Updade: Changed from Order Date to Payment Date as that's what matters, added payment method

Update: 3rd Jan:
KNC are referring to the current batch as batch #2, but that's very confusing as there have been 3 so I am using the following
Batch #1 = 1,200 units available to previous customers @ $10,000
Batch #2 = 1,200 units available for anyone @ $13,000
Batch #3 = 1,200 units available for anyone @ $10,000

Delivery by christmas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hands up ANYONE who believes that
814  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Windows gadget which displays BTC and currency amounts on: November 27, 2013, 01:36:51 AM
It was more for the dollar amount, just thought it would be nice to have it as 123,456.78 rather than 123456.7 just an aesthetic thing really it's probably only me that's so anal Smiley

I didn't think about the width restriction, but one option could be to use symbols so BTC would be BTC and USD would be $ etc that would free up 2 more characters
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 26, 2013, 04:44:56 PM
What about shipping date? Q1/Q2 is a bad joke, that's a 6 months time frame. They could ship in June and that's Q2.

Well they sure as hell aren't shipping in Q1.

It's not impossible.

Jupiters went on sale June 3rd and the first ones delivered were October 2nd so 4 months

If they kept the same timescale that is late march

*fingers crossed*
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 26, 2013, 02:46:01 PM
the question should be, will it mine more than 12 BTC.    If so, buy, if not, don't.  Simple.

Don't know the answer, I've guessed yes, but THAT is the question.

Now lets have a sweepstake on how long for a pre-order to appear in the for sale section, I say < 1 hour Smiley
817  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Windows gadget which displays BTC and currency amounts on: November 26, 2013, 02:07:15 PM
With the rising value of BTC could the next release be slightly bigger, ie take it up from 8 to 10 digits, that would allow USD amounts up to 999,999.99 (including a , for nicer formatting) and more decimals on the btc field.
818  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow announces 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.49/Ghash on: November 25, 2013, 06:24:23 PM
I think it's just a case of using the API on the exchanges to calculate a weighted (or otherwise) average for yourself. Maybe not such a small task, but it would be better to get it done, as it only a case of keeping up to date with any changes in the exchange API's to maintain the system. Then you can take the money at checkout, and the customer actually reliably knows how much they are paying.
See im a hardware guy, not software. I will pass your suggestion on to my web dev team tho... I hate calcing it my hand and a Automated system is what I want.

Bitpay uses a similar scheme for their rates

https://bitpay.com/bitcoin-exchange-rates

and they have an API

https://bitpay.com/api/rates
819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 25, 2013, 10:51:55 AM
ck, can you elaborate a little on the difference in behaviour & reporting between the 3.8.2 tuned and non-tuned on a KnC miner?
Reporting between the two is identical.

The tuned one simply changes the decision making process about when to turn a core off and back on. Firstly it turns all cores on every time it's starting. However it turns cores off very quickly instead of after many errors, but turns cores off in a staggered fashion a few seconds apart. Then it turns them back on after only a minute, but will only turn cores back on if no core on/off has happened for the last minute staggering them much more to turn them back on. My observations were that turning dud cores off always helps the hashrate so making it easier to turn cores off made sense, but with rapid changes to the number of cores on/off, the power going to the units changes wildly when in fact the device will be more stable if it only ever changes power requirements slowly, hence the changes. It also increases the duration cores are off every time they fail before disabling them permanently (for that run of cgminer).

Anyway I find the hashrate and consequently the hardware error rate keeps improving over time as only the decent cores are left hashing, and cores that are borderline turn on and off intermittently in a staggered way that doesn't change the power requirements dramatically.

Excellent work ck, I have about 16 cores that have never worked in any firmware version, currently they just go on and off all the time and if this is impacting the rest of the system sounds like a good fix.
