2) Would cash deposit be and easier way to receive/pay?  Is it like localbitcoins where you can send a cash deposit and take a picture to your receipt in case there was some sort of dispute?  If there is a dispute, who would you go present your case too, since it's a more 'decentralized' system in comparison to LBC?

I don't know how they handle cash deposits exactly, but bitsquare has arbiters who resolve disputes. When you send BTC on there you send it to a 2-of-3 multisig where both parties to the trade can agree to release the BTC to the buyer (in case of no dispute) but if they don't then the arbiter decides.

Quote
3) How do you set up a 'Monero account' on there?  It doesn't seem to let me create a wallet on there to send Monero.

You have to use your regular Monero wallet. Bitsquare's client only handles the BTC, not the other coins/fiat. Use the standard monero CLI (or GUI eventually). Do not use MyMonero or an exchange. You must be able to retrieve the tx-key to prove payment in case of dispute.

Oh ok, so who gets to be an arbiter?  Does it base off of someone who created the software to pick people, or is there a trust rating system on there or something?

And that makes sense about using your own Monero wallet, but what prevents you from using the GUI?  I use CLI but I'm just curious as to why.

Also, what method (if you have done more than a couple trades on there) would you suggest on using in terms of paying/receiving USD?

I think the GUI is fine, I was just not recommending it because it is theoretically not released yet. So more risk of bugs, losing coins, etc. But probably okay in practice. The main thing is not to send from a wallet where you can't get the tx key. As far as who gets to be an arbiter, I don't know exactly. Maybe there is some FAQ info on their web site?

My hatred for Monero stems from the fact that guys like Smooth

No doubt they lost hundreds of people thousands of dollars based on broken promises and flat lies.

If you can't come up with specific broken promises or lies, then you are just a garden variety troll. I'm not aware that I have engaged in any of either (in fact likely no promises at all, much less broken ones).

Individual traders are responsible for their own profits and losses, always.

Fortunately no one takes your false claims (aka actual lies) seriously.

BTW, I've only typed on Poloniex trollbox a tiny handful of times. Most often I completely ignore it.

I've seen several mentions of the need for public nodes.

Does a public node have any special requirements beyond an IP address and aeond on an open port? How much data transfer per month?

You have to open the RPC port in addition to the regular P2P port. In addition to whatever the bandwidth is required for a regular node (I don't know the current number), additional bandwidth would be demanded by those using it. Finally there are few tweaks needed to restrict some requests. For example, you probably don't want public RPC users to be able to turn mining on and off. Before the --restricted-rpc option was added to Monero those offering public nodes generally patched these things themselves.

a few months ago, i made an iso to facilitate monero cold wallet creation. and it's now supports Aeon

it's a personal initiative and absolutely not an official part of the project

Hi guys. Need help. i stuck on sinchronization of block chain!!! 2 days i see this message
Block with id: <2fb394d67664ed3d20939a533c7c13088001b49e63f2e892af2315d81c90a442> failed to add transaction to blockchain storage
[P2P3]tx with id: <04136f79f83d366137f37af3c6c3754fe59353a1247fabd9f358e2b85372d1a7> in block id: <2fb394d67664ed3d20939a533c7c13088001b49e63f2e892af2315d81c90a442> already in blockchain
try to sinchronize on final update of aeond on linux
i try to synchronize from 0 block

That is a very strange error, as that block is from 2 years ago. Are you by chance trying to use a 32 bit build?

Hi, Devs.

I've sent AEON coins from my wallet using simplewallet to my bittrex acc, as usual. Wallet shows me transaction ID, but coins just disappeared from balance, and lost somewhere on the way. Since that moment passed 10 hours, but transaction doesn't even appear in blockchain. How could it be?

Usually this happens if your node is not connected to any peers when you send the transfer.

You can recover the coins by:

1. Shut down your node
2. Delete poolstate.bin
3. Restart node
4. Renaming the wallet data file (then one that does not end in .keys or .address)
5. Start wallet. Since it won't find the data file, it will rescan; when done your coins should be recovered and you can try sending again. Check print_cn in the node to make sure it is connected first.

CKGE final liquidation auction

The CKG ETF is liquidating. All of the liquid assets (mostly 100 CKG bars) have already been sold, leaving a number of unique CKG and a few non-CKG items. You can see them here:

https://cryptokingdom.me/player/playerItems/251

The entire collection will be auctioned as a package (containing approximately 2021 CKG, though this number is approximate for informational purposes and has no bearing on the auction; see above list for official contents). No individual offers will be accepted. The auction will proceed as follows:

Some time after 48 hours after this post, the item AOKB1 (of which only 1 exists in the game) will be dumped to the highest bidder. The buyer of that item will also be GIVEn all of the other items owned by CKGE (not including M). The M will then be distributed to the holders of S-CKG (or will be used to buy back S-CKG from the market, at the option of the manager). Any remaining M that can't be evenly divided will then be distributed to S-CKG owners via a SPOIL process.

Place your bids here:

https://cryptokingdom.me/marketplace/item/aokb1

EDIT: BTW, I bid on the item, but I won't be bidding after 48 hours. So there won't be any last-minute-outbid-and-then-instaclose-the-auction. Others are free to bid after 48 hours.

Final bidding period. Auction will close in about 20 minutes. High bid is currently 33m

SOLD for 60mil

Code:
402476 Sell AOKB1 1 CKGE (251) goin2mars (111) BUY_110166 08.04.17 (04:17) 0

Following the liquidation of S-CKG, S-CON and S-HODL were also completely liquidated and dissolved, with the proceeds paid out to shareholders.

Hi Devs,
I'm using aeon 0.9.11.0 on linux and frequently got this message:

[P2P4][sock 16] Some problems at write: Broken pipe:32

Is this ok?
Thanks.

It appears to be an annoying but harmless message related to peers that disconnect. In discussion on IRC someone stated that it started happening last year (which would have been during a period of no code changes), probably due to the network getting larger with more people running wallets on a part time basis.

I'll look at cleaning up the handling of it, but I don't want to put a lot of time into this code base when we are rebasing to a newer one.

what happened when you did this line:

git clone https://github.com/aeonix/aeon

That should output a bunch of info and create a directory called aeon. From your description it looks like that didn't happen.

BTW this line:

git checkout v0.9.9.0

should always be changed to the current version (unless you have some specific reason to want an older one). Right now that is v0.9.11.0, so:

git checkout v0.9.11.0

Block time is 4 minutes. However, the last couple of hours there have been fewer than expected blocks. It happens.

The number of coins don't matter, although the size of the transaction in bytes can make a difference (bigger txs are harder to fit in a block).

I don't have Windows so I can't comment on the compile errors you seem to be getting. Hopefully Arux can figure out what is going wrong

I've just read the Peer List. Just 16 do connect on a daily basis as I'm writing (mine included) Sad

Not sure what you mean. Just checked one of my nodes. It has 14 active connections right now (only been running several hours since I updated to 0.9.11.0, so this will probably increase) and has connected to 493 distinct nodes since I deleted the peer file which wasn't that long ago.

Maintenance update 0.9.11.0

This highly recommended release resolves a deadlock issue introduced in 0.9.9.0 which caused the daemon to occasionally hang. All users are advised to update

In other news...

BTC at 1135 and Honeypony is rising like it doesn't give a shit.

Back in the mid .018s as I type with a good green candles showing (against BTC) and nudging up towards $21 in USD terms.

Something afoot?

Keep an eye, this is not a move I expected with BTC so bullish.

BTC lending rates dropped by half (<0.12%) so more margin longs?

A big factor affecting rates is the possibility of a fork. If you have your coins lent out you won't get the second coin. Looking at BCU on bitfinex, it is down from 200 to 150, so a significant drop in the expected value of the second coin.

And more than that - the risk of a fork does NOT mean 'moon' for BTC. The risk is not over.  I would not borrow BTC right now, IMHO this is not a sustainable price with the risks out there...

Sure, but you can be more willing to lend if you are holding BTC and either think the second coin won't happen or will quickly become worthless (or just very low value). The current rates of about 0.1% per day is still a quite profitable return for BTC longs. 1/2-1% per week or so.
