To be fair, the only thing I've every read or came across about Josh having a criminal record or case against him had something to do with some cable company or cable boxes. Some other can shed light on this, but to my knowledge there's no major cases against him unrelated to BFL, if there is any presently. Are you sure you don't have him mixed with with Sonny?

The case was DirecTV v. Puccinelli et al.  It was not a criminal case, but a civil case.  I do not know how it was resolved.  So far as I am aware, there were never any criminal charges involved, and so far as I know, Josh Zerlan has no criminal record.  If someone knows differently, I'd be glad to see it.

I'm no fan of the guy, but there's no need to make stuff up about him.
842  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you about those that helped bring Silk road down? on: October 18, 2013, 10:55:14 PM
Is there some information that this question is based on? I haven't heard about people helping to bring down Silk Road. Who helped?

Anyway, my position is that the destruction of Silk Road is good for Bitcoin, but it is bad for humanity.

Read the Maryland indictment.

The first person DPR allegedly took out a hit on was SR-affiliated and got busted, and apparently turned informant.  When DPR supposedly took out a hit on him, the guy he hired to do it turned out to be a fed.

The second was the FriendlyChemist guy, who supposedly tried to extort money from DPR.  DPR also communicated with someone (perhaps the same someone) purporting to be "redandwhite," one of FC's suppliers, to whom FC supposedly owed money.  Since it's not clear how these guys ended up being referenced in the criminal complaint, it is entirely possible one of them was also a federal informant, and/or both of them were the same person.  Again supposedly, the feds found this through monitoring the private messages at SR.

(If it turns out both of these guys, the Maryland indictment guy and FC/raw, were informants, DPR might have a defense on the murder solicitations, basically that there would have been no violent crime if it weren't for the feds manufacturing one--i.e. like the John DeLorean case.  He'll have a tougher time arguing that wrt the drug charges, though.)

Bitcoin is like that restaurant nobody goes to any more because it's too crowded.

Wut? How can bitcoin become too crowded? The more people are using it, the more useful it becomes so more people will want to use it. In case you didn't know, you can break out a bitcoin up to 0.00000001 so there is enough for everybody Roll Eyes

Try to look at that sentence in a less aspie manner.  There's this thing humans have called humor.

Okay:  some preliminary gripes, concerning the Mac version.  Most of them besides the first are minor stuff.

  • As noted earlier, there is no 32 bit version, so many of the Macs still in use will be unable to use it.
  • Player notes function not working.
  • The slider is virtually useless, because the slightest drag turns the bet into an enormous bet.  The only way to make a specific bet is to type it in.  There is no way to increment it by units of one big blind.  Even the web client could increment by units, like 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, etc. by clicking to the right of the slider.
  • When you've folded your hand, you can no longer look at the cards you used to have by mousing over your avatar.  This isn't really useful anyway, but it gives you a chance to rabbit-hunt while waiting for the next hand.
  • The disconnect/reconnect feature still needs a little work.  However, just being able to detect when it's disconnected is a huge improvement.

Well people are claiming he went to court ovrr theft charges related to bfl and was convicted. Clearly id like to see evidence of this.

Well, if they're claiming that, so far as I know, anyone claiming that is wrong.  We can agree on that.

That hasn't happened yet, though we can hope.
847  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What's next? Procedure for seized BTC funds from Silk Road on: October 18, 2013, 01:22:53 PM
I believe, if I've read it correctly, that they actually do have access to the SR hot wallet funds, or at least, I believe that's what the seized non-DPR BTC are.  So we may see them attempt to liquidate those funds sooner than the DPR funds, especially if they don't end up prosecuting anyone over them.  At least the owners of unquestionably illegal proceeds are very unlikely to come forward and make a claim on them, and even people who were selling something legal in their own jurisdiction (like PlutoPete), may be unwilling to make a claim on funds in the United States, where selling paraphernalia may be illegal (ask Tommy Chong), if only because they'd effectively be waiving a jurisdictional claim by coming forward and submitting their claims to a US court.

So an officer called you a name? Other than that, why is he scum?

I feel the hate, just don't understand why.

So far as I know, Josh has never responded to anything I've said, but I don't know, since I put him on ignore pretty quickly.  I don't like thieves.  Apparently, you do, or at least, you have been remarkably generous with your money to them.

If you don't understand why people wouldn't like thieves, I'm afraid I can't explain it.  It's just one of those things some people don't like.  It's not like the guy or his company has personally ripped me off, because pre-ordering from companies founded by convicted criminals and manned by vermin like Josh is not my cup of tea.

Just don't like the guy, the company he works for, the guy who founded it, or the company itself.

When I refer to his nick, I mean the human being whose legal name is Josh Zerlan and who is Chief Operating Officer of BFL, by which I mean the entity incorporated in Wyoming and doing business in Kansas.  Do I really have to be this excruciatingly precise not to be deliberately misunderstood?

But you saying bfl is acting through him is just silly. Why not pick on the mail guy? What other than call people a name did he do?

Are you being serious or am I being trolled?  "Chief Operating Officer" is not the title of an employee.  It is a corporate OFFICER, hence the word OFFICER in the name.  Do you think that maybe a Chief OPERATING Officer has something to do, maybe, with OPERATING the company?

I mean fucking seriously.  Get real.

I'll also revise my post.  It wouldn't be simple respondeat superior liability that applies to any action of an employee on the job.  Josh actually speaks as a corporate officer.  That is, yes, he IS speaking for BFL when in his official capacity, just as the CEO or any other corporate officer would.

Like respondeat superior, NOT a difficult concept to understand unless you're going out of your way not to understand it, for whatever incomprehensible reason.

I know you guys want to think BFL = Josh but lulz.

No, I never said BFL=Josh.  However, when Josh appears publicly as a representative for BFL, it is BFL acting vicariously through him.  It's not a very difficult concept.

In everything Josh does? Well if that is the case in person BFL must be a really nice guy then  Roll Eyes

Please read before responding.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see Silk Road's closure as a positive or negative? on: October 17, 2013, 11:35:16 PM
Good thing,

Now the government will need to turn those BTC into DOLLARS so when they do let me know which exchange they plan to cash out in.

Not necessarily.  If they treat it as cash, they could hold it, somehow.  However, I don't think they're equipped to do that.  I think their regulations require such cash actually be kept in a bank account of some kind.

I think they are more likely to treat it as a seized asset of some other sort, like a seized cigarette boat or a seized SUV, and auction it off at some point.  Presumably, the new owner would get the private key and the passphrase, assuming they ever get that out of DPR or by some other means.  Since "other means" would involve DPR giving out his passphrase to someone else or cracking Bitcoin itself, it would probably have to be from DPR.

To be fair, we don't currently know how to survive in space.

Humans can survive in space.

But not for very long.

856  Economy / Economics / Re: Chase Bank limits withdrawls, Bans international wires on: October 17, 2013, 03:51:51 PM
Now we can see screenshots of the chase letters.

Yes, and some of us can actually read them.

The first shot says the account of the person who received the letter can no longer do wire transfers.

The second shot says "business SAVINGS accounts" will no longer be able to do wire transfers.  Other accounts, presumably with higher fees, can continue to do them.

So a bank is squeezing its customers and raising its fees.  It sucks but is far from the apocalypse.
857  Other / Off-topic / Re: Inaba - The biggest scum bag on these forums? on: October 17, 2013, 01:34:08 PM
It is his job personally to do that? Have you ever had a job before? Do you know what PR means?

Do you know what having a job means?  It means when you are on the job, which Inaba is when he's here, you're acting as an agent of the company.  The company is legally on the hook for it.  So yes, when he's doing his monkey dance here, he effectively is BFL for all legal purposes, at least from the BFL_Josh account.  Considering that he continues to do the same shit from his Inaba account, despite that allegedly being his "personal" account, BFL is probably on the hook for that, too.  It's called respondeat superior.[/quote]
858  Economy / Economics / Re: Chase Bank limits withdrawls, Bans international wires on: October 17, 2013, 01:30:56 PM
well that would suck royally. If you can't wire out, then money moving across country borders would either have to be in the form of credit, or in the form of cash or money order.

Or in the form of Bitcoin, which wouldn't suck royally.
859  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: October 17, 2013, 01:12:00 PM
I got my BFL 60Gh/s miner and I'll be stoked to break even (and I ordered mine in early Feb).  Anyone that hasn't received their miner from BFL should just get a refund now of (if you're desperate to stay in the game) upgrade to the Monarch and risk the exact same thing happening.  I hate to say it, but BFL is a scam.  My miner came back with scratches all over and a fan that was broken.   I'm pretty sure those dirtbags mined with it before shipping it (why else would it look used).

Would you rather be shipped a dysfunctional miner, or had them test it before they shipped it? (Assuming the broken fan was from poor shipping)

So by "test it" you mean "use it so much it's broken when you get it?"
860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should miners collude to steal funds from wallet confiscated by US government? on: October 17, 2013, 01:10:07 PM
Almost everything governments do, would be illegal for ordinary people. What sets governments apart from other criminal orgs, is that they are the largest and most powerful. At the end of the day, SR was not breaking the laws of physics but the arbitrary laws set forth by the USG mafia.

Yeah, damn dat eeeebil gummint for prohibiting hiring people to murder your drug rivals.

Bullshit, I wrote

FBI is working against consumers, SR was working for them (except for the hitman stuff).

Silk Road was DPR, you ninny.
