891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New "Choose your wallet" page on bitcoin.org on: July 17, 2014, 08:55:07 PM
Its just that its not user friendly!

I would much rather have a shitty design and have it be easy to use, than a good design but harder to use.

FWIW, the old page was considered hard to use / confusing for many reasons according to the comments I have reviewed, naming some:

- Wallets were either duplicated all over the place, or some web wallets were isolated to a single category even though they provide an app.
- People were missing the separation between wallets categories and mixing them all together.
- Some wallets did have their names hidden with a mandatory disclaimer, which many people found confusing.
- Previous layout was filled with texts and I've seen people complaining the page wasn't "palatable" for newcomers as a result.
- The previous layout was very innefficient at allowing people to find an app for their choosen OS (would become a problem in the future).
- Etc..

..So if there's specific issues like these with the new layout, I'm certainly interested to hear them and think of future changes. This page is clearly not one I'd consider easy to improve until it pleases everyone.

IMO, I prefer the design there is right now.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New "Choose your wallet" page on bitcoin.org on: July 17, 2014, 07:27:49 PM
Looks good, but its slightly more confusing than the original page. Im not saying that its hard to understand, its just lest user friendly than having 3 LARGE buttons (original page).

Hehe Smiley But now you have more wallets to choose Smiley
Old one was pretty retarded now it is really cool!

I understand what are you talking about as when I saw that I had similar feeling that it is less user friendly - but we know this site from some time and we get used to the old panel. Smiley

So new bitcoiners will learn how to use this "new" one Smiley and they will find it very easy in usage I think.

896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin wallets be trusted? on: July 17, 2014, 06:42:24 PM
I wonder if Bitcoin could be updated to use public user IDs on the block chain. For example Twitter usernames. Then the need for private Bitcoin addresses is removed and the bitcoins always securely stored on the block chain with the unencrypted usernames.

As for anonymity, simply choose a Twitter username like @AnonBitcoinUser.

A)  not going to happen.
B)  would be bad for anonymity because now you have 1 username for many addresses
C)  for what purpose/benefit?
I agree that this would make no sense. It would also make it so that the block chain would not be secured cryptographically but rather with some central authority that houses all of the passwords.

If you want to be public, register at http://keybase.io and add your face to the BTC address.

898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin wallets be trusted? on: July 17, 2014, 06:33:20 PM
If your wallet.dat is password protected, the software would have to wait until you typed in your password before it can do anything.
